He was a show business colossos, a real hardened pro who earned respect the hard way. Bernard Manning, for example, called him a true comic. Praise indeed from one who knew. He was just genuine, talented, warm and generous. God bless Larry x
He was an absolute darling a joy to watch and even to this day I’m still disgusted at what the council in Nuneaton said about him they don’t want anything to do with that man hence why Larry Grayson always insisted he does not want any statue or monument to ever go up in Nuneaton After his death
@the_trooper_72 The head of the council at the time and his committee said that they will never have a statue or any such thing pertaining to Larry being from nuneaton in fact in one interview, they described him as ( that person ) clearly it was because Larry was very flamboyant in his act !! And you can read online that Larry Grayson also stated that he does not want to statue or anything else erected in Nuneaton after what they said about him when he dies
Larry was just a good laugh. It's hard to believe that people had a go at him. They allowed him to behave like a gay man for a laugh. But if he actually came out and said 'I am a homosexual.' All hell would have broken loose. The Seventies where strange days.
I think you either liked him or not. Nobody wanted him to 'come out' as gay. Max Miller played with campness at times with the understanding that it was just entertainment.
@@peteratkinson922 He actually faced a lot of pressure to come out, not by straight folk either but by gay activist groups which saddened him and made him more reclused, we all knew 'what he was' but it never effected our fondness for him, it wasn't even for fear of damaging his career it was simply that he was 'old school' in the regard of sexuality and politics were a private matter, it's a shame that those who shared his personal proclivities couldn't afford him that privacy

He was of a time when his type of humour was inoffensive and very 1970’s, a time which was fun and easy going.
Miss these types of people.
His type of humour is still inoffensive, it's these vile woke idiots that think they should get offended - that-s the difference.
