I've owned two Toyotas: A '91 V6 Camry, and currently, a 2005 Corolla S. They are the best cars I've ever owned or driven. I would have got another Corolla, except that they have a CVT, or a Camry except for the "crushed hour-glass" grilles (normally, I don't worry too much about styling, but the grilles and the over-hung front ends were just too much). I went to look at Mazda3s. I'm impressed with them, but the dealer tried to sell me a SUV even though I don't want one. Also, I don't care about the "infotainment" systems. I have dozens of CDs and never listen to the radio, but it seems that NONE of the new cars has a CD player in it.
I already did, got my 2023 ES300h Ultra Luxury trim in April 2023. Love the vehicle and am getting 42+ MPG and have already changed the oil & filter twice. Going tomorrow to get the free Lexus 10K service for my third oil & filter change. LOL 🤔😎

@@Jasona1976 The Avalon is based on the Camry chassis. So are several other Toyota vehicle classes. The point is that some are worth the uprate to Lexus and several aren't. The ES series is very much worth the uptick as you get additional value for the badge.
The first ES, the ES250 was based on the Camry of that generation until Toyota released the Avalon which never came as a 4 cylinder model like Camry's did but the Avalon was based on the Camry and subsequent Lexus ES models were based on the Avalon with the same 3.0 liter V6 initially then the 3.5 liter V6 offered in the Camry but standard on the Avalon. My mom still drives her 1999 Avalon and the engine is just as smooth as it was when new.
I loved that engine in the RAV4- completely unnecessary and it was so quick when you were the only person in the car! So quick and they stopped including because people were buying RAV4 instead of the Highlander. Would be interesting to know whether the Lexus version had a tune for the higher octane fuel.
I find that my Lexus is not trouble free, but I like the vehicle so much it's a no brainer to fix whatever breaks vs buying something different. 2011 GX.

Mr. Scotty, how are you. Is it wise to purchase a 2009 ES 350 Lexus with 122, 199 miles ? I have not checked it out yet, I only tested drive it. Drives smooth. Only thing that I noticed is that when it’s in drive mode but stop in the traffic, the engine makes a woo sound, when it begins to drive again, all woo sounds stop. Can you give me an advice?
Which car kills people, does it sneak out at night and run down people ? OR do people fall asleep and kill themselves or others in the SMOOTH Lexus? Scotty , SCOTTY
Yes .... but the interiors shrivel up in the Florida sun whether it's leather or nulux; doesn't matter. Leather seems to do better but whatever. And the used parts are very expensive compared to other cars. I hate my Lexus for this reason. Driving around a nice car that looks like crap because I don't want to spend hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of dollars on replacement door panels and seats after 8 years. Sonny's not wrong, the reason I have this car is because I drive so much and need something to leverage the gas. Otherwise I'd have some big SUV.
I have an '07 es 350 that's stuck in my driveway right now and I can't even figure out of it even has a shift cable--no parts at rock auto and the auto parts place can't even find the part in the catalog. #3 misfire's have come up several times in 2 years and coils/plugs have been replaced. My mechanic thinks it's taking in coolant through a head gasket. I want it to be a good car. I'm below poverty level right now.
My 2008 ES350 bankrupted me. I spent US $19,000 over the past 5 years. I bought it used with 110,000 mi. Now it's sitting on its 3rd transmission. 270,000mi
The interior build quality and ride quality and overall experience is a completely different experience than what you get in the Camry. Love the camry but it's simply not an ES!
I have a 02 es300 and its the only car i have, it has a slight knock,im pretty sure its not a rod knock, it was sluggish til i did some stuff with it today, but it just wont die.
picked up a 2008 es 350 with 120k kilometers on it. has the luxury package, i don't think there's an option it doesn't have. It cost what the new ones interest alone would have cost me..
I got my 2012 ES350 back in 2020, it had 72k on it and I paid 15k out the door, got it for the dealership where it was bought new. It still has the original window sticker at almost 39k when new. I really didn’t know just how good these cars were until I have owned one for a while. Now I know why people don’t want to get rid of them and also why they keep a decent resale value. Now at 140k the car is running great, seems like these things get better and better as they rack up the miles.
Honda civic is made in Canada. And there CVT is built in Mexico. Please talk about that. And this auto stop crap. So I leased the civic. Don't trust it even though the dealer throws in drive train lifetime free if vehicle is purchased. So who knows in 3 years. Last two leases were Corollas. But they did not have any.
Any issues? Yours was ONE OF the last to be built in JAPAN! Personally, they are not as solid now that they are built in Kentucky along side the camry and avalon before it was discontinued.
@gabevillarreal4779 no I used valvoline that's what I was offered at the oil change place by my house but watched them do it since the oil change was done at brakemax wanted to try something new so did a engine flush then valvoline oil change with valvoline additive and did a valvoline engine filter and valvoline cabin filter too. I prefer mobil one better but did valvoline everything to try it out for the first time but everything else on my other list did it all at the lexus dealership.
My lexus 2014 350 es had to hv a $10,000+ transmission put in it 2 years ago, ANDDDDD it's acting up again, hoping it's not the transmission again, I'm taking it for a diagnosis tomorrow oh I hope it's ok, I love the car and can't afford another transmission, at least not one from the lexus dealership.
if you don’t need a suv 🚙 don’t unless you like living at the pump. Two suv’s need v-8’s not itty bitty v-6 turbo’s means boom 💥 goes the dynamite trying to move heavy vehicles
Suv are lifted mini vans without the sliding doors. After driving big vans and trucks at the end of the day, a nice sedan or coupe calms the nerves. Aside from seeing jacked up 4X4 bumpers at noggin height. Intimidating is why suv's are popular.
You're absolutely right! I worked for Toyota/Lexus head office back in 2004 and I've seen documents referring to this model as the Executive Sedan. If anybody says otherwise, they're simply guessing!
Just realised the car make model Kia Rio translates to mean BE HAPPY?!😂😂 it’s the lowest quality cheapest base tuna can economy tin car on the market! Aside from the fiat coupe
I bought my wife a 2003 es 300 that is in great shape has 200k and only paid 5k but it is still like new 😂 let me bring it to you to check out im in northwest Nc?
Opinions are mixed, from what I've seen for this generation (2016-2018) US builds, some owners complain about things like body panels, things not being flush, abnormal sounds/rattles here and there. Others claim there is no difference
I have no idea how you love this car. The Lexus ES was Toyota doing what GM did in the 90's, and it was terrible. That car is a no-effort Camry reskin, with one of the most unsettled and unpredictable suspensions I've experienced since those GM turds rusted out of the used market. Sure, I like sports cars and shouldn't prefer it, but I genuinely respect cars that are fit for purpose. In this case that purpose is getting Camry buyers to fork over an additional $15k on their next purchase, while sparing Toyota from having to manufacture a competitive longitudinal chassis or do any R&D.
being reasonable, cars like this, low effort chassis twins, can be the BEST value used. A3's, ES's, ILX's, TL's, any Lincoln, etc...because they often are subject to full blown premium brand depreciation.
What is a fair price to pay a mechanic to plug in a good fault code analyzer like you do, put it up in the air and inspect the car for major repairs like engine failure, suspension problems, exhaust, coolant leaks, cylinders not firing etc.?
Call some of the local shops in your area and simply ask them, like shopping. Most likely it's not gonna be more than $50 but only do it with a car that you're seriously thinking about buying.

I have a lexus is250 3is awd and a 2013 toyota venza v6 awd. No more gm crap for me.
Exact same backup camera as on my oldish Camry's.
270,000mi
Lexus RX is my dream car, however newer models 2024 not really impressive like older model.
What’s your opinion about
Toyota Fortuner 2024 ?
I have one of those still have 30 thousand miles still brand new,it’s very very very quiet,so smooth it’s like a sofa on your living room
I have a 2013 ES 350.. 84k miles never had a problem with it & drives likes its brand new still.... I love it. It was also made in japan!..
Looks like a fancy Toyota!
I'm in Houston Texas can you look at my car it's not starting
They are a Toyota Camry with Lexus emblems and made in Japan usually
The interior build quality and ride quality and overall experience is a completely different experience than what you get in the Camry. Love the camry but it's simply not an ES!
In 2013 the es 350 is on the Avalon platform, not Camry
@@michaelmallon6346 Still a good thing
That shift knob is backwards
2014 es owner
80k
Love that thing
Dealers do not reset codes either, the 2 codes are got were from some warranty service many years ago ...
I did not know the history of how front-wheel drive was popularized by the US market. The more you know!
If Scotty was in handcuffs he couldn't talk.
It cost what the new ones interest alone would have cost me..
i have a couple avalons, a couple Mercedes Benz's (Her a C me an E) and a lexus es350. No suv for me (and a vw ghia and a gmc envoy)
Does ES stand for Executive Sports or Executive Sedan? Also the new ES 350 is made in the USA. Not posting this as an affront to Scotty.
I looked it up and it is Executive Sedan.
@@jamest6850 Thank-you.
Car was so quiet and comfy he fell asleep while driving. The ES is the only that haven’t screwed up yet
That's my car 2013 lexus es 350 187600 miles 😂❤🎉
Mine is a gray color tho😂❤🎉
Any issues? Yours was ONE OF the last to be built in JAPAN! Personally, they are not as solid now that they are built in Kentucky along side the camry and avalon before it was discontinued.
And recently did a engine flush before the oil change too incase if it hadn't been done by the previous owner before but still drives like a dream.
@@bryanczarnecki7570 did you use BG44k engine flush!?
@gabevillarreal4779 no I used valvoline that's what I was offered at the oil change place by my house but watched them do it since the oil change was done at brakemax wanted to try something new so did a engine flush then valvoline oil change with valvoline additive and did a valvoline engine filter and valvoline cabin filter too. I prefer mobil one better but did valvoline everything to try it out for the first time but everything else on my other list did it all at the lexus dealership.
Which scan tool works best for Lexus?
My lexus 2014 350 es had to hv a $10,000+ transmission put in it 2 years ago, ANDDDDD it's acting up again, hoping it's not the transmission again, I'm taking it for a diagnosis tomorrow oh I hope it's ok, I love the car and can't afford another transmission, at least not one from the lexus dealership.
Scotty Lexus recommends oil every 10k. Should I do that or change oil sooner?
Sooner. Oil is cheap. Engines are expensive.
Scotty what do you think of the LC 500?
Can you not tell how absolutely wasted he was during this video?!?
I have suv. Love it.
should i get a lexis 250 2010 155k miles ?
i like it. nice rig.
if you don’t need a suv 🚙 don’t unless you like living at the pump. Two suv’s need v-8’s not itty bitty v-6 turbo’s means boom 💥 goes the dynamite trying to move heavy vehicles
To have less codes on a car, we must think of manual transmission.
Scotty meant to say, "This cat has killed thousands." Referring to his family member who died a while back.
Suv are lifted mini vans without the sliding doors. After driving big vans and trucks at the end of the day, a nice sedan or coupe calms the nerves.
Aside from seeing jacked up 4X4 bumpers at noggin height. Intimidating is why suv's are popular.
the shifter is turned backwards😂
Christine?
❤@This.
158k miles and 18k in the hole sounds like he got ripped off!
Thought they stopped making in Japan around 2007?
I think 2016 is when they started to change over to USA
My 1983 Toyota Sr5 5 speed 22R 2 wheel drive truck is still going
How many miles on that truck?
81 Toyota long bed
Sr5 still good.
@@keithdunn926 mine is a long bed too
I have a 84 sr5 long bed still zips Sips gas doesn’t burn oil
I believe ES stands for Executive Sedan.
Elegant sedan they told me this at the Lexus dealership when I bought my car there.
Executive SEDAN it is!
You're absolutely right! I worked for Toyota/Lexus head office back in 2004 and I've seen documents referring to this model as the Executive Sedan. If anybody says otherwise, they're simply guessing!
Nice automobile !
Good video, Scotty. Would like to see more one trucks.
I own a 2015 Lexus ES250 it has 53000km on tap Im from South Africa and had Mercs ,BMW and Audi but Lexus is by far better than these German cars
How much is your fuel consumption on your es250?
Just realised the car make model Kia Rio translates to mean BE HAPPY?!😂😂 it’s the lowest quality cheapest base tuna can economy tin car on the market! Aside from the fiat coupe
2014 with 158K for $18K?! 😱
Well done scotty. Thanks for the video 👍
I bought my wife a 2003 es 300 that is in great shape has 200k and only paid 5k but it is still like new 😂 let me bring it to you to check out im in northwest Nc?
Lexus uses a LOT more technology than their Toyota cars ...
Hey Scotty, what’s your opinion on ES 350 build in the USA 🇺🇸 now in days? Any concerns about built quality or trust Lexus quality ? Thanks
Opinions are mixed, from what I've seen for this generation (2016-2018) US builds, some owners complain about things like body panels, things not being flush, abnormal sounds/rattles here and there. Others claim there is no difference
That's the car I always wanted😊
Just finished Scotty's "Don't buy a Lexus, buy a Toyota" video. I'm so confused.
😂
40-80 bucks depending where you live and relationship with the mechanic
Call some of the local shops in your area and simply ask them, like shopping. Most likely it's not gonna be more than $50 but only do it with a car that you're seriously thinking about buying.
More like 150.00
Believe it or not some good mechanics won't charge for a diagnoses just the labor and repair costs depending on where you go.
How did it kill anybody? Jesus Christ Scotty!
How can the wheel bearings be bad on a 10 yo Lexus?? Are you sure Scotty?
There will always be a es in my garage
