My 2022 WRX is one of the best cars ive driven in the snow when combined with Bridgestone Blizzaks. It feels even more planted than my 2021 was with the same tires. I am still waiting for bigger snowfall to really experience this car. Overall this 2022 WRX continues to surprise me with how much fun and practical it can be.

I remember those days when we lived in Philly. Not only fun, but teaches you how to control the car when sliding.❤❤
It really does. The best part is getting to know all aspects of your car through all the seasons.
Exactly why I got my WRX. Denver daily and to Winter Park on the weekends. Handles amazing with Michelin ice x tires I got 👌🏼 AWD is a must for me in Colorado and to mob up I-70.
I got those same tires. Absolutely amazing
Same here I’m in Denver too. Got some Yokohamas for the winter and it’s a beast on these roads
@dustinhoward2990 the best winter driving set up Ive ever had. 2nd winter with the ice x tires and still have more than half of the tread life. Only winter tire with a warranty. Legit.
@@phoenixjohnston2394 fuck yeah homie, we're shredding the streets of Denver with our VBs 🤘🏻
Oh shoot really? I may need to look into those tires when these run out. Maybe for my 2026 WRX 😂
“Oh look there’s a cop right there” as you drift out of the parking lot right behind them 🤣😂🤣
Lmaoooo bro what was he gonna do, uturn and get stuck in a ditch? 😂😂
It is! I live in NW PA, huge snow-belt (up to 2-3 feet in an afternoon is not uncommon). I run Nokian Nordman studded tires. So long as you don't get high centered, the car is a tank. Most of the short-sighted pick-ups and SUVs driven by the good ol' boys run AT or mud tires, which are horrible in the snow. I manage speed limit on most days, while everyone else is crawling, or sliding through intersections.
it's actually less dangerous when it's colder. When it's all slushy like in your videos even good winter tires it gets very slippery and you can lose it in a flash. That early braking at the end was really on point. Blizzaks are insane, I have the same for my soon to be ex base VA and they are so good, I have 205 50 R17. I prefer narrower for deeper snow but where I live we get around 10 feet of snow per year, in Missouri it must not be as bad though. Prolly will get blizzaks again for my TR but a lot of people are telling me Nokian Hakkapelita are even better but they are studded and I dont like that it slides less in my opinion.
She looks so good in the snow
Thanks so much! 🤘
I went and saw one at the dealership the other day here in Sydney. It's just such a cool car. Gonna buy this
🚗
When I was a young man I was working at an International Airport that was building a new terminal and runways. I took the work truck out on a Runway during an ice storm got it up to about 60 and hit the parking brake. I was spinning for almost a mile before I finally stopped. Cool at first. Then a little scary. Then nauseating lol.
Lol woooow I really want to do something similar on the highway but where I'm at it's always someone.
Interesting video.
I've never driven in the the snow. Or even been in snow now that I think of it. I'd be that guy that hits the light posts or that big green dumpster 🤣
eh you can get the jist of it by driving on wet dirt roads. it can be as slick as snow and ice
It's a lot of fun driving in the snow. It doesn't feel crazy but flooring it will make you lose control a bit...however the car is pretty good at keeping traction with good snow tires. You have to just feel it.
@@HeavyMetalWRXif it ever really snowed just one inch in the SF Bay Area of CA where I live- it would cause the biggest 9 county -wide chain reaction traffic pile-up in US history 😂
I've found that the best way to slide the wrx is in 1st gear at low speed revving to 4500 rpm with traction control all the way off or 2nd gear if you want to send some longer slides. Gotta let the ice build up under the snow before it gets insane though!
So is my 2022 Stinger on Blizzaks. I have to hammer the throttle and cut the wheel to get the car a little sideways then it straightens right up. If I switch to sport mode I can swing it around much easier. Most any AWD drive cars do this these days, with good snow tires.
I've been waiting 2 years.... hopefully next week. Can't wait for snow!!! I just recently took my Pilot s4's off and put my winter tires on. Next day we got freezing rain and a little snow. I want like 6" of snow!!
Oof I know man. We had 3 days it was SUPPOSED to snow ...unfortunately it's just been raining and the other two days turned into a 50f and 47f degrees day ..like wtf 😂
Sucked snow hit when I was asleep by the time I went to work was mostly plowed, but the little bit left on the road out of the foot we got the blizzaks destroyed, sooooo worth it
Haha that's awesome man! Winter is just now starting so I expect more snow through January / Feb.
I loved my ol studless snow tires. I had Toyos with the walnut micro tech. They kind of feel like sandpaper, very nice, but they don't last long so take them off as soon as you can. Can't wait for some snow here to go cruise around.
Ohhh interesting. I reached out to Toyo for a tire sponsorship. Hoping to get some free tires but I don't think they wanna do it 😭😂
You could get it to rotate if you had the summer tires on. The POV shot with the snow coming down is great content. I hope we get some here in NC (its rare here) because I'm totally making an hour long snow drive vid lol
Dude I never did that before. It was my dslr roped to the passenger seat. The POV turned out AWESOME with the snow. I need a better belt system to hold the camera. That would be a great racing interior shot.
@@HeavyMetalWRX Depending on how you like you cam mounted. I picked up an onn. Action Camera Accessory kit from WalMart and wear the head mount. When you adjust it right it's not uncomfortable. There is a million ways to mount a GoPro though.
I'm running the General Altimax Arctic 12's since I still had them left from the BRZ and have been having a blast in our last couple snow storms. First time out in the snow I had to stop and google to see if I missed something on the traction control system or if there was some pedal dance... nope, with decent tires the car just does not want to let you get sideways unless you really mean it!
I just turn everyone off. The car does a great job of keeping me pointed straight.
Car looks so sick in the snow! I hope we get a few more snowstorms before winter is over.
Thanks so much! I have been hearing that this winter is supposed to be pretty bad.
Dude! That looks like sooo much fun!
It was! I wish the snow was deeper. This turned into slush real fast.
Kinda sucks we can’t just hit the rev limiter and play in the snow, but at the same time how it’s designed to keep you from losing control is nice. Too bad there’s not a button/setting to turn it off…fun button engaged
I mean depending on how much space you have you kind of can. Even in a small lot you can do it but the car will eventually try to get you to go in a straight line 😭
Awesome content keep it coming!
Thanks so much! 🤘
buddy was following the op
😂😂😂 we all out having fun
I might get snow next week I cant wait do you feel the diff open up? I feel it on back roads sometimes not crazy but its there.
I don't feel it but because the car has a locked center diff rotating in the snow is kinda doodoo. Would be nice to have a bit of rear bias 😁
I live right down the road from here and have a white wrx to 😂
Dude ! I've seen so many white WRX by me but they never wave 😭😭 find me on IG. I'm doing a subie meet hopefully this Sunday.
I got the same tires on mine they really are so good
Dude they really are terrific. Three years I've had them but total mileage on them is like 900. So they still have the good tread.
@HeavyMetalWRX I'd hope so woth 900 miles I live in Michigan so I put them on right after Thanksgiving but have heard they were fast cause only the very top tread is good in snow but even if the only last 10k that 3 to 4 winters for me did have 1 day it got to 60 degrees with them on tho an the car kept spinning the tires
I did play for like 20 mins and after i heard a weird sound coming from the alternator area is that normal?
Hard to tell! There shouldn't be any noises coming except normal engine stuff.
good for you bro !
Appreciate it
you lack practice. I live in Quebec city and snow drifting is part of our life. even on the highway. Enjoy
Well yea. I lived in Texas and Florida before this. St. Louis doesn't get a whole lot of snow. We enjoy it when we do though.
What camera and mount do you use for driving?
I have a few different setups. I use my insta360 for the exterior shots with a rode wireless go 2 mic. Love is the insta360 but with a 4k forward facing lense. Then sometimes I strap my Nikon dslr to the passenger seat.
What camera and ancillary equipment are using to get that view at 2:10?
Hey there! It's actually a insta360 one RS camera with rose wireless go 2 mic on the bumper.
That looks so fun... No snow here..
Haha man you are gonna have to come here for that 😂
@@HeavyMetalWRX yeah. I need to get back to the snow and out of Hawaii.. 😆
@@jumpnjack808 well let me come to Hawaii first. Then you can come to STL 🤘
That thing rips. How much do I gotta spend to make mine fast?
Realistically if you get an intake an an ethanol blend you can make like 340whp+ easily.
Have you looked into installing 1.5 way LSD?
I have not. I have a STI transmission coming real soon ( next few weeks) so I didn't bother looking for alternatives.
Did you turn off traction ??
Of course!
Can’t see shit
Haha it wasn't that bad!
