I literally just went out last Friday and made this exact video hah! We got a snow day and I have Blizzak WS90. It's actually really hard to break traction on low height snow. Tires are just TOO good. It's supposed to snow again this Friday ( about 3-5 inches) and I have a subie meet in hosting at our local mall. Hope to get a bit of fun.
Cody, just drove my 18 with Viking Contact 7’s and wow Subaru with Winter tires are unstoppable!! I must have passed 10-15 cars stuck on the side of the road driving from Morris County NJ up RT 15 to NY. What a dream car
General Altimac Artics with studs I can drive 45-50 mph on back roads in maine with 3+ inches of snow with 100% confidence. I actually need at least that with a little ice to be able to swing it around an have fun and even then I have to push it to make it rotate but when I want to pass someone I want 100% confidence doing so. Nothing is more terrible than losing it while passing someone, dont wanna give them that satisfaction.
I put Continental Extreme Contanct all seasons on mine and I'm very impressed in the grip for the snow we got. The ice wasn't as fun but still went well on my way to work that night in central PA.
True. Has a lot more to do with the LSDs front and rear but the DCCD does help if you change the torque split to be more rear biased. I have both an sti and 05 legacy gt which comes with an LSD in the rear from factory and it has absolutely no issues going sideways with ease.
I have a mazda 5, low to the road, i bought some snow tires from Norway they have a funny name, (Bridgestone bought them, and the prices went up a lot) they where the best snows i had, we had so much snow one year (past my door sill 7-8 inches, i thought I was going to be stuck, not i pushed snow with my mazda blew my mind.
looks clean and fits the car! i literally just did the same found some 2020 sti bbs sr 18" with blizzaks ws90s for 1100 i couldnt pass on it on fb marketplace. Those blizzaks are going on my stock wheels and summers on the bbs sr
I didn't bother, probably should, but I never got an alignment after lowering it and kept checking tire wear with a thread gauge and I've had perfectly even tire wear so I never bothered lol
I had blizzaks for a couple of seasons. Never again. They are great when they are new, but the treadlife is by far the worst I've had in any winter tire in my 25 years of driving.
That's unfortunate to hear. When looking up tires a lot of people rated the tread wear on these around 7-8/10. I guess we'll see how long these last me.
I plan on sti drivetrain swapping like my last wrx at some point so I don't want to put extra money into the factory drivetrain if I don't have to haha
To break traction easier you must have less mechanical sympathy and rev it up higher on lower gear.. I know all you have loved with this car and I know how difficult it is to do now. But just saying
@@StreetInspired1 thats what I meant.. 1st its always what people do on these.. but we both know that wont last long... Lets leave those shenanigans to Travis pastrana that gets a new WRX every other year

Wish we were closer I would love to come out to one of your meets!
@@StreetInspired1 I know man, sucks we are all different parts of the US 😭😭
I got a set of blizzaks ws80s for a sweet deal on marketplace too. They are great tires for winter.
OH here, I cannot wait!! I got steelies and Blizzaks off marketplace for 550$ tires are almost new.
I have Nokian studded on mine. Braking, cornering, all unbeatable at reasonable speeds, and some traction on even ice.
Really good noting that most
People don’t know about summer and winter tires.👍
Me chilling at the beach in cali: ill take notes. Thanks!

Another solid video bro. As always, love the content.
I live in New Jersey and we just have rain 😢😢😢
literally, i still copped some blizzaks just in case but aint nada going on everything already melted in my area of jersey
We rarely get snow here in NC but I hope to have my Continental DWS06 on soon in case it does happen.
hell yeah solid content as always!
One thing I miss about my old Sti, rear end kicks a lot more with the dccd.

on my '19 i run tire rack cheapo wheels, and blizzaks. wicked fun in snow & ice!!

Looks like way to much fun!!!😁
I have the same tires amazing setup
I had my blizzack on my 99 Outback years ago and I couldn’t break traction lol I now run all seasons on my 22
Michelin x ice is great as well

Awesome! 👍😊👍
Looks like Lancaster PA.
I put the blizzak ws9 on mine to there so good in the snow an on ice
Need to find out where you are. I’m on the Lancaster Chester county border but will most likely be relocating to the Lehigh valley or north this year.
I'm in the York area so Chester County is about an hour and some change.
I wash my car every 2 weeks during the winter my wrx is almost 5 years old no rust at all
It's called common sense, rare now a days
Where in pa are you? Pa’er myself
What lug nuts did you use for your Motegi MR118s
I used my Noble lug nuts from my previous set of wheels. They were just standard skinny spline lug nuts.
Bro what part of pa are you?
Is your VB the magnetite grey or black?
Magnetite.
Did you have to get another alignment after raising the car or was all good?
I didn't bother, probably should, but I never got an alignment after lowering it and kept checking tire wear with a thread gauge and I've had perfectly even tire wear so I never bothered lol
Do the 2022+ WRXs have viscous LSDs in the back or is it just open?
No LSD in the new wrxs

do you have a blow off valve?
It's stock. You just hear it more because of the Ets intake.
Needs Cusco LSD so bad at least

I was trying to get the revs higher but it wasn't slipping enough in 2nd and I didn't want to sit in first bouncing off the limiter to slide haha
