trick i like to do in bathrooms is to take the lid off of the toilet tank and then slide a small kitchen type trash bag over the tank....some toilets are really tight to the wall, even using a whiz roller...this keeps the paint off of the tank while allowing you to paint behind it...simple but effective.

That’s the same way I was taught to do it more than 10 years ago. It works, but I like to pull it tight and wad it up in the front and then tape it because I have had the bag move and stick to the paint.

Great channel! I have been painting for 30 years and still learning new things. Turning your loaded roller to keep from dripping is definitely a professional level tip. Especially with high quality paint that doesn't have a tendency to drip. Using these tips I can paint a room and never have a drip or splatter. In fact sometimes I don't even use a drop cloth.

Something I've found very helpful while painting with a roller and doing cut ins... don't have the heat cranked up when doing your final coat or cut ins... it allows it all to dry evenly, less chance of halos or lines on walls. Same thing for rolling ceilings. VERY important for ceilings, especially considering heat rises to the top and stays there. Open a window and turn off heat so you can keep a wet edge. Crank it afterwards!

I liked that you spoke of cleaning the bathroom first. The last thing you want to do is put your face and hands next to a dirty toilet when painting! I just purchased those corner rollers from your store. I've been looking for the 9" corner rollers but can't find them over the counter in my area so I always resorted to using a mini corner roller and then following with the standard 9" roller. One less step and change of tool now.

I have a can of Sherwin Williams latex paint. It is nearly full and had
about an inch of water on top. I mixed it until it was smooth then
painted a one foot section on the wall. It looks good but I don't like
the color as it is too dark. I bought a new can of Behr paint but it is
way to light. I want to put some of the darker into the light color to
bring it up to what I want. The SW paint is from 2013 but appears to be
fine. Would I dare use it where it is so old because I don't want it to
end up sticky on the wall? Thanks for the video.

Old bed sheet for drop cloths. It wraps around toilets and vanities easier, it's very thin which makes opening the door easier, (the door wont catch the sheet and drag it out of place). And it is sanitary because you can throw them in the wash when your done and keep your other drop cloths sanitary. The down side is it isn't as paint proof, but it is paint resistant, so be clean and don't spill an entire gallon.

Hi Chris! I have never painted before. Do you think I need to use a primer before I paint, or just do two coats? I am going from a beige to an Eggshell. The only fix I am doing first is spackle where the holes from the old towel rack was. My regular painter said I am fine because the quality of paint I am using is good, but a neighbor said I should use primer. It is a small half bath.

Chris, help me out! Getting started in paint spraying with a graco x5, I went to FFLP 310 tip on a rec from one of your old videos. I can’t get the pressure down without leaving tails; I’m using Behr Ultra paint. I tried thinning a gallon with 8oz Flowtrol and it didn’t seem to help. • @garymodie

I've found the opposite .The only time I bump a ceiling is close in situations.Back up,extend pole to better see the top of roller. Brush 2"cut- in .Only brush-marks that show usually because of rolling being thicker paint than cutting sometimes needing a 2nd coat at ceiling(if that makes any sense)
