    87yrs old from Detroit…….played this about 50,000 times, and that was just the first week I bought. On a 45 disc. Happy days long gone.

      [I saw them near Chesapeake Beach about 1964 -- (later) I remembered after posting this, that it was not the Platters but their forerunners the Ink-Spots].
      Not all of the original members. I found most of the Platters's songs to be boring and repulsive, but this one very attractive and pleasing.

      @@reic0002 76. After I made that comment I remembered it was the Ink-Spots I saw, not the Platters. Ink-Spots were forerunners of the Platters from earlier time.

    This needs to be played on the radio and let's see if current generations can appreciate the lyrics and harmonies. These songs are about simplicity, heartache, purity. And not a see-through outfit or g-string in sight.

    My sons listen to this kind of music and they’re teenagers 😮. I think they appreciate real music. It’s now 2024 and they enjoy this kind of music. Lol,I’m in my late 50s and I have never heard about this song. I think is phenomenal!

      At age 77 now...I can remember dancing with a girl in my nervous arms, in 7th grade, at an after-school dance!...listening to the Platters who could deliver this type of tune to perfection!...Such innocent times we old Boomers lived through...that is, until a harsher Reality hit us, in the tumultuous 1960s!...I would not trade my Life, and experiences, for anything.

    The lead singer of this group had an absolutely tremendous voice and quite the vocal range! The harmony of the backup singers is just SPOT ON! This is what songs with true meaning should sound like! Their tunes NEVER get old!

      I saw Charlie Pride back up group the ladies are dressed most modest.
      More descent than most ladies show up in some churches today.

    I was 15 in 1959 and loved the Platters and still do. With Only You on the reverse side, it made the best ever double hit record ever.

      The original pressing of "Only You" had an uptempo tune called , "Bark Battle & Ball" on the flip side. I still have the 45. It came out long before "The Great Pretender".

    Today I am an 80yr old widow, I grew up in Belfast Nr Ireland
    We danced our nights away at all the wonderful Dance Clubs
    To this day no other singing group in my books can complete
    Not just with The Platters also Nat King Cole , Sammy Davis Junior
    And so many Big bands of that area 1950-1960’s

    I'm 68 but this 70s compilation has made me feel like a 20 year old again! I can't help but bop around to the beat! So many of these songs take me back to particular places and the people I was with at that time. Better than any blood pressure pills or statins!

      Yes sir, the 50's & early 60's music was great! When I saw the WKW, a light bulb flickered that it was the early call letters of a radio stations East of the Mississippi. Thanks for this memory at the age of 72. 👍

    Just more than excellent! Their song has brought me back into the most pleasant feelings in my mind from when I was around 7 years old in the past to when I am around 72 years old at present. The Platters are not great pretenders; they are simply the greatest singers, who have deeply touching both my body and my soul in lyric and melody. I was wondering where we could still possibly find any similar The Platters in 2024. Thanks for your kind sharing.

    When I want to feel good during these insane times, I listen to the Platters. I'm 80 and these beautiful songs take me back to a nicer time. Slow dancing in gymnasiums and house parties, living the dream. ❤❤❤❤😅

    Wow!. There are great classic songs and many with great videos, but this 2 minutes and 47 seconds is the BEST I have ever seen! The lighting and camera angles are so perfect that even if I muted the flawless singing, I would still be in awe!
