I’m on a prednisone taper again for a Crohn’s flareup. (Terminal ileitis) And I have to be on this Low Residue Diet and I HATE it! I was in remission for 5 years. It’s so frustrating! Low residue is so hard because, so many carbs! I’m not eating refined carbs, candy, cookies, junk food in general. So I can’t have nuts, raw veggies or fruits, (canned veggies are ok but they’re disgusting, steamed are ok but I can’t have leafy greens or any of my favorite veggies), grains, I have to be careful about the types of meats I eat or proteins in general. No dried fruits. It’s upsetting. I’m also lactose intolerant. I’ve been on this rollercoaster before and I never thought I’d be back here 5 years later. It’s really upsetting. I met so many of my fitness goals over the last 5 years and I just don’t want to be back here. And I don’t know how long I’ll be tapering, not knowing is horrible.
@@PrednisonePharmacist Just giving feedback to assist (I hope). I would like to see you be successful with your channel. While i am at it I think you need more colour and variation in your voice. It also does not work to think while you are talking. You need to have all your material prepared before you start to talk. Some RUclipsrs are brilliant at delivering long complex material without stopping to think. One that comes to mind is Indie Naidell who does history. His voice is full of variations in emphasis, tone and colour and he raises a dry historical talk to an artistic performance. If you watch him you will see he is very assertive and punchy with his information and all of the above really give his talks life and make them fascinating. Again good luck with your very useful channel.
+Andrew Blake these are great tips. That would be awesome to have the production team of Indy’s The Great War channel. It really is very well done. I gotta admit I listened longer than I anticipated about a battle I’ve never heard of and would have fallen asleep reading about! He brought it to life. Hopefully some day I can have a team like that one! And I really appreciate your feedback and tips.
i really need to know..i used Prednisone for 7months and started with 80mg a day now my dose is 5mg a day for 5 years...how can i eat and what can i do to loose moon face cuz it's making me insecure
it sounds verr similar to intermittent festering wich I already tried before and it is very effective so i I think im going back to it and stay away from old processed food hopefully with this prednisone regimen for 2 months i get ready of my lungs problem of fungal contamination that i cut somewhere..thx Dr Megan.
This was so helpful. Love your intro about having grace and patience. I relapsed on my first autoimmune issue in Sept and in Oct I was in the hospital and placed on high prednisone. Then the Drs. found out I have ANOTHER autoimmune issue that has been effecting my lungs. So I am now on long term prednisone at 20mg and hopefully can taper to 10-15mg. I have moon face and I hate it, I have also gained weight not too much but enough that I can now feel it. I already lost 50lbs this year and I refuse to gain it all back. My primary Dr. wants me to loose weight because I am still heavy and it would really help my inflammation in the lungs. I told him that I will start slow and I don’t want to pressure myself because I am still overwhelmed with/all that I am dealing with as it pertains to my health.
Hi Dr Megan, I am 16 months out from my Kidney transplant and have to take 5mg prednisone every day without end 😢 You mentioned chromium here. Would that be good for me? Do you have any other recs in my situation? Ive gained 10kg / 22lbs since my transplant. Thank you! ❤
I m taking prednisone frm 2 mnths n now the dose is tapered To 10 mg a day. But the side effects are worst like the weight gain and the moon face. I m just 19 and it makes me so uncomfortable. Can u pls tell me how much time it will take to be normal like earlier. Pls reply
I'm on 20mg of it a day . I hope it cancels out the inflammation present so I can get off of it .I've had a cookie lol then I did a register check , so now I'm trying to eat fruits and more beans with pieces of meat in it like a salad. Lord have mercy.
@@PrednisonePharmacist thank you what about apple cider vinegar? Can it be taken while in use and also can the Prednisone be used while on a birth control?
Hi Megan! I have a brand new ileostomy and I’m tapering from 40 mg 2x daily of prednisone. I am super limited in what I can eat. I can’t have vegetables, or anything with high fiber.
i went to my orthopedist for lower back pain and he put me on prednisone for three weeks iwonde if a dose of 20mg the first week 10 mg the second week then 5mg the last week this is my first time on prednisone. i would like to know if thats considered a high dose i am nervous because i sleep bad any tip on what to eat

@@PrednisonePharmacist hey! Thanks this is a very motivational reminder for someone with MG, thanks once again. I’ll start off with my diet too in some days and would also love to share my feedback after a few weeks maybe if that’s okay
I don’t understand !! Baked Potato ?? FULL of Carbs….Dried Apricots ?? FULL of Carbs and SUGAR !! Not on my list of things I should eat….Please explain.
It's tough to find the balance between nutrient-dense foods that provide the specific micronutrients that you need and not loading your diet too much with the macronutrients that you want to avoid, like sugar, right?
I have a friend who is taking 75-80 milligrams a day orally. She has gastroparesis and addisons. She is extremely frustrated with the weight gain and fluid retention. She tells me the fluid retention not only causes weight gain but makes her hurt from swelling. She said she is hopeful that one day she can tamper down to 10-30 milligrams depending on how she takes them orally or through the veins. Theoretically, what would the difference in side affects be if my friend got to a point where her doctors approved of her taking a moderate dose versus a very high 75-80 milligrams dose?
@@PrednisonePharmacist thank you so much for the reply. Given her adrenal insufficiency I know that she’ll be steroid dependent the rest of her life but if I’m not mistaken, for people taking steroids for adrenal insufficiency isn’t there a way to take just the right amount of steroids so you don’t have the negative side effects but get just the right amount of cortisol and aldosterone you need to live? Hard to explain over RUclips comments but I hope that makes sense.
You get it. You make me feel better. You don’t embarrass us by not understanding that we didn’t ask for this!
I do get it. I have gone through it myself and understand both sides of the situation, and it's tough! We didn't ask for this for sure!
This was so helpful, especially because you’ve been on it.
Thank you 😊
Your kind words mean a lot, I ve been on 10mg for over a year for cardiac sarcoidosis and another year to go but at least i am still here 😊
You’re welcome! Yes-at least you are still here. Prednisone is a miracle in that way. I wouldn’t be here either without it!
What about dried fruit with prednisone induced diabetes?
So much thanks for your adivice
