The problem with Bow is investment and consistency. I played a lot of Bow at one point since I lucked into a Mighty Bow deco but I gave it up because basically every other weapon would give me more reliable results for far less effort. Whether it's learning hitzones, creating multiple elemental builds, how restrictive Coatings are, min-maxing stamina skills vs affinity skills, etc the weapon just feels incredibly unintuitive to play unless you REALLY dive in and get to grips with every tiny detail...
I think the most constant stat In the past two MH games Is that Longsword Is number one In usage and Hunting Horn Is In last. Most likely going to see the same for MH Wilds.
Hunting Horn was actually last only in World. In Rise/Sunbreak (and GU), it was Lance. Hunting Horn gets a whole bunch of improvements in Wilds, and might even be meta.
@@TornaitSuperBird true, HH gets the doot fun factor while most people just view the lance as boring, and the new improvements that lance got is that it's more fast paced with some details that only lance enjoyers are going to be hyped for, but for others it's all just boring different ways to poke and guard, so it'll definitely be the least popular weapon now
Lance main here. As other weapons have been getting counter attacks of their own (often times not needing any skills/decorations to make them usable) the appeal of the Lance has sort of shifted to those other weapons. Why slot in 3-5 Guard skill plus maybe Guard Up (and very likely even having to use a Brace jewel to not get tripped by other people in multiplayer) when you can just use a Longsword and get free counters without worrying about knockback or chip damage at 0 skill/deco cost? What's really interesting to me is how low the Gunlance is on the list consistently, and while I don't play it I would have figured it would be much more appealing since it's got the explosions that don't get mitigated by hit zones other weapons have to contend with. However, after seeing some footage from Wilds during Gamescom I'm really hopeful for the Lance. It looks like it's going to be the king of counters once more, even as almost every weapon is getting some new counter or "offset attack" deal going on. I can't say for certain since I have not gotten to try it myself, but just from the footage alone Lance looks much more engaging than ever since it's more than simply doing 3 poke combos and resetting and occasionally getting a counter in. Not only that, the addition of 'luring pods' will allow you to basically grab the monster's attention and act as a dedicated tank for your team without needing to rely on some kind of skill or decoration. Hopefully this will boost the weapon's popularity when Wilds is released. On the other hand, Longsword is looking stronger than ever... perhaps the more things change, the more they stay the same.
Mostly cause of the end game. Believe most ppl are comfortable using longsword and GS on fatty. Even with ppl over 500mr and higher. They use different weapons, but would always go LS or GS when fighting fatty. As for the bow, with the new players now, hard to invest when it so deco dependent for sure. Cause you move up rank so fast now and hardly even did any deco farming.
Glad to have you back; channels like yours kept me glued to World for its entire content cycle on PC, and my interest in the series has honestly been waning since Rise was released in its (literally) incomplete state. Also, I am genuinely baffled to see Gunlance as low in Iceborne as it is; Long Glance got a huuuge buff in Iceborne, isnt very deco hungry, and basically allows you to ignore hitzone values entirely.
New and proud card-carrying CB cult member here. 500 hours on xbox now, 3 saves with my first being a failed bow run that I abandoned until last year. Picked up CB in my second save and only got Iceborne once I hit HR70 on my third save. Pure Charge Blade Dancing and I'm proficiently hunting by myself now🙏 I just beat Alatreon yesterday and fatalis will hopefully be soon Full Crit Kjarr Para is awesome and is my charge blade of choice prior to fatalis :)
Hey man, i just want to say I am glad you are back. I loved your worlds/iceborne content. Learned a ton from you during my first play through years ago
On my 5th play thru of mhw, I used to have the “long sword is popular so I won’t use it” mentality but man does it feel great to play well deserved #1 spot
i still have my doubts on these numbers. where do the numbers come from . what is their meaning? how does the wyverian come up with it? is it completed hunts? is it story line hunts ? how does guiding lance count? Does it take killed monsters by weapon from the guildcards? from gameplay experience i have to say i never see any dual blades in any hunts really and yet they are top3 for unknown reasons .
Team 1 seem to be making the fantasy of the Hunting Horn the Musical Bludgeon more realizes and functional with upcoming wilds. We won't see anything Team 2's new game till 2027 because Wilds Release cycle will be all if 2025 and the Master Rank Expansion all of 2026.
Lance is a great weapon because there is practically nothing the monster can do to get you away from it. Unless it literally just jumps across the map, Lance will be in its face. Downside: I need to run Guard 5 and Guard-Up if I want to be a functioning weapon, yet nearly every end game monster can still push be across the arena if not ignoring my block entirely. Hunting Horn I can't really explain why I like it that much, I guess I just enjoy managing my songs. Instead of using combos like the other weapons, I look for ways to prepare my songs. If the echo waves + recital/encore did more damage than just spin to win to really reward good preperation and knowing the timings of downs, I'd enjoy the weapon even more though. The main real downside is that this weapons DPS is so low, it noticeably slows down any solo hunts for grinding. I have only very recently started looking into Gunlance cause to this day there is just no good guide on the weapon I really enjoy and it took me a Gunlance main sit in a call with me to explain me how to *really* play it. I love how hillariously goofy everything about the weapon is though. The DPS combo? Ledgehopping is literally the highest melee DPS in the game and it's goofy as shit. Mobility? Evade Extender 3 and backhop through the entire map lmao. Defensive tools? Like Lance except you actually use the regular Guard and just stand still (so really not like Lance at all). The only thing I really dislike is how I need to decide for one of 4 very different playstyles from the second I make my build. Though to be fair, otherwise I'd probably need 50 deco slots to get everything I "need". Man this weapon needs more and better guides though.
Holy crap, you're back!! Been watching a bunch of your content lately, trying finish up the Guiding Lands, finally beat Alatreon .. hopefully Fatalis before Wilds
What I think is quite interesting, if I look through comments on every patform, I'd say hammer must be the most used weapon. I see a lot of hammer, switch axe and surprisingly gunlance comments. Way less Longsword than I would expect looking at these stats
LBG for life! It's a little sad to see so many people ditched the LBG over the years, but I am happy my weapon is a niche and I feel more motivated to show off 😂
Also, I think LBG dropped off because we were done dirty in Iceborne. All of the endgame bosses have shitty ammo hit zones. Alatreon is not a good matchup with element ammo which is the whole point of his fight. To counter you'll need multiple elements to either conserve your primary ele ammo during Dragon phase, or you purposely avoid breaking the horn so you can conserve your primary ammo and secure an elemental topple the next phase with your secondary ele ammo. Or you just ignore ele and just dps with Pierce ammo and Fortify Tank the Novas 😂 Also Fatalis has horrid hit zones on his head where most runs have to abuse Sticky ammo to break the horns, or you just ignore his horns and unload Spread into his chest, risking a harder Phase 3. And the most encouraged play style was the Sticky builds which aren't as fun as the standard gunning IMO requiring constant ammo crafting and dodge reloading which seems to be the two biggest turn offs for most players. Idk maybe the janky nature of the LBG is the point and the identity of LBG players is the ability to exploit a hunt through your ability to jump through hoops. Maybe that's the difference between LBG and HBG. I'd be interested to see what nonLBG players think.
Always surprised to see switch axe so low given it's powerful, looks cool, and is easy to use. Also surprised by charge blade being so high but maybe wouldn't be for new players?
Since there’s about a year, wait for Wilds, do you think you might do a visitation of Rise and Sunbreak? I’m not saying for you to make a bunch of guides, just do a let’s play and share your thoughts on the game.
I haven’t finish the game completely and I’m scared everyone is leaving this game for wild and I won’t have anybody to play with when I finally decide to finish it.
I basically play 4 weapons and dabble with a 5th on ps5: DB still my main, long sword, bow, insect Glaive is rising on my list, and every once in a while I pull out hammertime to go bonk. I like to match elemental weaknesses and those are the best-ish weapons to use elements (which is why I don’t hammer anymore. Boo boring blast/sleep weapons).
Always been a Lance main since Gen1, always will be a Lance main (except for Rise/Sunbreak, didn't enjoy the Lance there a bit). We stand proud, where others dodge and flee 🫡
Bow was great in world then I got to iceborne and my hunt times doubled and when I googled why i learned about making elemental bows and said ok I’ll try it. It was better hunt times then I learned I need to make 5 elemental sets and realized I would have to painfully farm another 4 sets just to make my hunts insufferable which just killed my vibe of the weapon. It’s a great meta slave weapon but painfully inconvenient if you just wanna use it to enjoy the weapon. I tried it again in rise with the same problem. Soon as I hit sunbreak it’s just becomes a pain to play anything that’s not matching the monsters element. I hope in wilds they make non elemental bow not so much more powerful that it cuts your hunt times in half or make it like insect glaive where you can freely change the element of your arrows or something like you can do with the kinsect. If not I’ll just continue being a swax player.
I think the bow is just is just too easy. So when people have played the game a lot they want more of a challenge or just engagement. Its like training wheels but for fun
Completely new players are hyped for Wilds and are probably skewing the old data. I'm one of them. 😀 Learning LBG (on PC) before anything else because I simply don't care about the meta. 🤤

all other points look pretty solid, just dont know where you got that [strictly weaker] from tho, especially when you mentioned TA speedruns, where db WRs were all at least 30s slower on fatalis, at velk, alatron and FRajang
The Mario 64 file select music is such a great choice. Damn. A lot can change in 4 years
Maybe he's been building up speed for 4 years so he could travel across multiple QPUs.
Thanks for you upload missed these alot! Shout out lance main

You called for the Immortal Hunting Horn?
Gunlance crew out here holding that 3% strong 💪🏻
OH MY GOD HE'S BACK WHAT YEAR IS IT
The problem with Bow is investment and consistency.
Great Upload timing, just today I played mhw after years
Glad to see you back you were the reason I became invested into monster hunter world with your videos on how the weapons work and builds.
@@TornaitSuperBird true, HH gets the doot fun factor while most people just view the lance as boring, and the new improvements that lance got is that it's more fast paced with some details that only lance enjoyers are going to be hyped for, but for others it's all just boring different ways to poke and guard, so it'll definitely be the least popular weapon now
Holy shit it’s really been four years. I didn’t even know you left. The algorithm is on your side because you popped up on my feed!!
I was just thinking about your monster Hunter content the other day. You’re return is a very happy moment for me ❤❤❤❤
Mostly cause of the end game. Believe most ppl are comfortable using longsword and GS on fatty. Even with ppl over 500mr and higher. They use different weapons, but would always go LS or GS when fighting fatty. As for the bow, with the new players now, hard to invest when it so deco dependent for sure. Cause you move up rank so fast now and hardly even did any deco farming.
holy shit the goat himself is back. I'm very happy
community has missed your presence in mh fanbase so much
almost 5 years since last Minecraft strem!
Except shells don't scale and slaplance is the best way to play the gunlance in endgame
YOU'RE BACK
I remember your guides being so helpful during World, good to see you'll be there to save my ass in Wilds too
@@RageMagikarp he doesn't even know what a SAED is bro

Horn for life. I will support you and you will like it.
my two favorites, hammer and swaxe right next to each other. looks like I got lucky and found my happy place
The SnS guild warmly welcomes our 4th member. May your mounts be many and your carts few
Welcome back mate, glad to hear and have you back!
New and proud card-carrying CB cult member here. 500 hours on xbox now, 3 saves with my first being a failed bow run that I abandoned until last year. Picked up CB in my second save and only got Iceborne once I hit HR70 on my third save. Pure Charge Blade Dancing and I'm proficiently hunting by myself now🙏 I just beat Alatreon yesterday and fatalis will hopefully be soon
Full Crit Kjarr Para is awesome and is my charge blade of choice prior to fatalis :)
Heeey! You are back! And I'm trying this game again after registering 1050 hrs lol glad ur still here!
Damn, that intro. My embedded memories from years ago awoke.
Bro that weeaboo hate is not necessary but apprieciated LOL
Also great to see you back, let me know when we are hunting Fatalis
7:35 Switch Axe got renamed to Switch Blade on PS4?!? What a time to be alive...
Pretty sure its Slash Axe in JP
Alot of people accidently say Switchblade because it just rolls off the toungue smoother.
Not surprised to see gunlance at 3% even though i personally enjoy it. The Changes in WIlds look fantastic and might bump it up a percent!
Holy crap, you're back!! Been watching a bunch of your content lately, trying finish up the Guiding Lands, finally beat Alatreon
.. hopefully Fatalis before Wilds
What I think is quite interesting, if I look through comments on every patform, I'd say hammer must be the most used weapon. I see a lot of hammer, switch axe and surprisingly gunlance comments. Way less Longsword than I would expect looking at these stats
Man I was like 22-23 when I last saw a video from you lmao I’m 27 now crazy
Four years. He finally graduated high school.
omfg i aged 40 years when you said 4 year hiatus
He's back! Praise the Chadmeral!
We're totally back! F yeah
This year, a lot of people tried for the first time, 6 of my friends tried it, and they pretty much long sword or great sword as a choice.
Always surprised to see switch axe so low given it's powerful, looks cool, and is easy to use. Also surprised by charge blade being so high but maybe wouldn't be for new players?
I just picked up monster hunter for the first time and I'm already on the cult of lance mains
Hey mister!
You finally back :D
Since there’s about a year, wait for Wilds, do you think you might do a visitation of Rise and Sunbreak? I’m not saying for you to make a bunch of guides, just do a let’s play and share your thoughts on the game.
I haven’t finish the game completely and I’m scared everyone is leaving this game for wild and I won’t have anybody to play with when I finally decide to finish it.
He’s back
I can't lose this channel again ;-;
Awesome to see you uploading again. do you plan on coming back for wilds?
Glad your back bro
LBG main here. If you don’t run LBG or bow, all you are to me is a meat shield
He's back .......HES BACKKKKKK
Lance and Hunting Horn are both at 2%!?!?!?!? I'LL MAIN BOTH IN WILDS
He's back HES BACK
So glad to see this in my feed ❤🎉❤
I basically play 4 weapons and dabble with a 5th on ps5: DB still my main, long sword, bow, insect Glaive is rising on my list, and every once in a while I pull out hammertime to go bonk. I like to match elemental weaknesses and those are the best-ish weapons to use elements (which is why I don’t hammer anymore. Boo boring blast/sleep weapons).
Gameconomist it's like he's still here😢
Always been a Lance main since Gen1, always will be a Lance main (except for Rise/Sunbreak, didn't enjoy the Lance there a bit). We stand proud, where others dodge and flee 🫡
I hear the cardconomist and the gameconomist are brothers
This might be crazy but I heard they're the same person.
hit the buffet lately?
It's a Jekyll & Hyde type of situation.
13:43 😩Konnichiwa
No way! Friggen 4 years!
Man I forgot how nerdy you were with this back in the days 😂😂
You could just turn the list around and you'd have the tierlist of the most based players
I missed this dude 😭
13:43 😂 bruh 😂😂😂 burack furaidei bonduru
Bow was just used to farm Kulve. Once people stopped farming it bye bye 😂
As a Lance main, I'm so saddened by this. 😂
Lance main doing my part
I think the bow is just is just too easy. So when people have played the game a lot they want more of a challenge or just engagement. Its like training wheels but for fun
Completely new players are hyped for Wilds and are probably skewing the old data. I'm one of them. 😀
Learning LBG (on PC) before anything else because I simply don't care about the meta. 🤤
2% and 3% for the Lance? Good odds for us lancers I guess
we must stick together poke boi's
HE'S BAAAACK!
Well I will always be a loyal bow user on xbox

hey welcome back, i stopped playing after World/IB too, i dont like Rise
Omg he's back!!!!
Lol. All 3 of my main weapons are consistently bottom 4. SnS, gunlance, HH. Idk what that says about me.
ey gs is #2!! and hh is not last tho sadly now it is lance tbh no wepon should be last place sadly 1 must be
