    Since, MHP3rd is missing
MHP3rd had Bamboo gunlance with biggest artillery damange which where you can use Auto guard glitch with to mow down monsters with zero effort similar to the MH3G’s kelbi bow.

Rathalos for Flaming S RF, Ludroth for Water S RF, Zinogre for Thunder S RF as well as some very useful utility options like slicing S, Barioth for Ice S RF and the aforementioned Jho LBG.
And all they needed was Element Atk Up, Rapid Fire to increase the amount of bullets shot by round (from 3 to 4 and 2 to 3 for Dragon S), their respective Fire/Water/Thunder/Ice/Dragon Atk +2 skill and (if manageable, this is not 100% required) Load Up to increase clip size.

Also in MH and nerfed but still viable MH Freedom (portable) SnS had 1.5 dmg boost for "scaling" with stronger weapons.
So mix it with white sharpness and you were able to trivialize the game with a couple SnS. Starting with Assassin's Dagger, then Poison it with Gypceros and just GG.
I completed 1st gen SnS only and it was way too easy XD

  • @levobertus
    @levobertus Месяц назад +27

This video is weird because not only do you not have any specific criteria what constitutes as "best" or "strong", but the picks are also not really good.
In MH tri, the clust bowgun is literally only used for 1 single monster. And you needed 4 players to actually pull off this strat. That is 1 single multiplayer matchup it's best at. It loses to close range pierce in literally every single other matchup in the game. Not to mention the most agreed upon best weapon for general purpose hunting is the Alatreon lance. Why use the Crimfat lance in G when you could also clust Fatalis in that game like Alatreon in tri? There's no real logic behind this choice imo.
The kelbow in 3U is also just wrong. Like straight up. It doesn't even win in its own category because the Brachy bow is better for slime spread bows. That's also not even factoring in the actual best weapons like the HBGs with the underwater ammo cycle glitch or just the raw power of 4 pierce siege HBGs that far outdamage kelbow, or the other op guns like God's Archipelago and Miralis LBG, which just shit on monsters solo and online.
The info on GU bowguns is also completely incorrect. So much misinfo, holy shit.
First of all, Challenger gives 15% affi in this game, secondly, nobody uses this skill on HBG. It's more expensive and less strong than using Crit Eye 3, which most of the meta sets use. Secondly, Repeat Offender increases stacks per ticks, not per shot. It's maxed out after two shots, not six. Additionally, you can't get this skill together with Weakness Exploit unless you have a 2 skill charm, which is extremely rare. If you're save editing op charms, it is just worse Crit Eye 3, so this skill only sees use in matchups where Weakness Exploit isn't good to replace it. It has about a 30% usage in TA, while WE has 70%-ish. It almost never replaces CE3 outside of extremely specific, non-optimal charms (e.g. I have a pierce 4 tenderizer 4 OOO which lets me add it via Neset, but not CE3).
The pierce crit distance is also wrong. Pierce 1 has a much smaller crit distance compared to pierce 2, which means that you actually have much less leeway with your positioning. This is the reason even TA runs and hame runs still use shot booster, because the pierce 1 crit dist is really shit. You only have about a 1 roll window to keep it without SB, which is really bad. Pierce 2&3 have a much better crit distance and can forego this skill in pretty much all relevant matchups. The reason pierce 1 is better is because it has better motion values and average recoil requirement. This means higher raw bowguns use it and the damage concentration on the weakspot is higher. The crit distance is not a reason this ammo is good, in fact it is its only big problem.
And finally, the Daora HBG is not considered the best HBG as far as the meta goes. It is second place behind the Orcus Quarcus. The slot is actually quite important for some god charm sets (e.g. the hotblooded set or the full GX Old with AuS are only possible with 2 slots) and the para siege is important on some matchups and for a couple of multiplayer strats and limp stops. The 10 raw is also not as big of a deal because Orcus has slicing 2 and it takes until the second full combine for Daora's to overtake it, damage-wise. The much bigger deciding factor for choosing Daora is the deviation, because Orcus gets small L/R deviation from temper, while Daora gets large L from it. The Orcus can also buff teammates with Demon armor in multiplayer, which is a huge buff (1.1x sharpness, 1.7 crit dist for bowguns). The TA use rate of Orcus to Daora is about 2:1 right now and there are few reasons to take Daora unless you never use para or demon shots and can't make a better set from the extra slot. It's definitely worth using a lot of the time, but as of right now, it's behind Orcus as far as meta goes, both solo and online.
I would've liked this video a lot more if it included all the games and you had done a proper layout of the criteria and actually researched the games as well as checked back with the current best players to ask for their opinions. They would disagree with most of your picks here.

    MHG:
1:39 Keep in mind that is G Wii, which had had different balancing than the original Monster Hunter G
    MH2:
As mentioned, Eternal Schisms is in contention alongside Hammer (across the board) for Dos's strongest weapon, but I believe it can be outpaced by White Fatalis's Bow (specifically because of Charge Level 2 and 3) on most Dragon weak matchups.
Dos also had an the 1.5 mod for White sharpness and Adrenaline. A few weapons could make use of both, but it is stronger than it is F2.
    MHF2/MHP2:
4:40 Speed Fire is not Rapid Up, it is the predecessor/equivalent to Auto Reload, and causes bows to charge faster like Focus.
    MH3:
Clust should be out damaged in most matchups and in solo/duo isn't really viable to fully bank on as you will run out. It's also not an exception to the games that came before. Also, purple sharpness is a 1.5 mod in Tri, because it is a sequel to Dos / Freedom Unite, who's max sharpness has the same mod.

@@jdogzerosilverblade299 just about every game is copying another in some way or form. Nioh copied Souls games with it's rogue like mechanics, Digimon copied Pokemon with it's capture monsters to have them fight, Trove/Terraria copied Minecraft with it's survival and mine square blocks, etc. There is no true "originality" in this world anymore it's just copied mechanics with your own spin on it.

@@xeath9992 insperation isnt copying. nioh made a souls like game but added its own combat mechanic stealth mechanics and battle methods. like after attacking you can do a move that instantly restores a bunch of stamina. or that headshots with a ranged weapon isnta kill normal enemies to help with stealth. digimon pretty much only took inspiration from the evolution part of pokemon but that's it really. terraria did not copy Minecraft so don't try with that. i played both a lot and literally the only thing they "copied" was gathering wood to make a workbench. literally everything else is different from bosses to combat to traps to game progression to building and more. haven't played much of trove. i tried it and it seemed closer to roblox than Minecraft. now this game literally straight up copied horizons monster designs. its so close it might as well be sueable. now I said monster hunter due to the weapons in the game being very similar. sword and shield hammer bow were shown. riding a mount is horizon themed as well. for the monsters that's not inspiration that's borderline theft. for weapons its meh. at least they made the hammer look original. the crafting in the game might or might not be copied who knows.

A slight correction. In GU the attack difference between daora and zin HBG was minimal. Daora in practice only got around 1 extra damage a pierce shot, while zin got slightly better slicing ammo damage (which you use to charge valor), that more or less made up for the slight damage loss. Because of this, zin was almost always taken over daora, unless you already have 1-2 zin guns on a team. This ironically makes it even more OP, cause imagine all the crazy things valor pierce can give, and now it just can get a free para too with the siege para 2 shots.

The other thing with the un-nerfed slicing builds in world was that even though it was super OP, it was extremely unfun to play with someone else who was using it. The slicing had a massive hitbox and caused knockback equivalent to a barrel bomb on allies so it was basically impossible to play a melee weapon if someone on your team was using slicing builds.

  • @CharSheee
    @CharSheee Месяц назад +1

In the first MH, before G, fatalis lances (Black Dragon Spear) were actually a common meta. Essentially, most of us were just farming plates (Ian + Los) and that was relatively effective with headlock. The whole thing was then called tp (troublesome pair) pl8 run in the jargon of the time. (One single BDS could basically lock the monster completely with right timing) Only for Fatalis were guns with Clust lvl 2 standard. Otherwise there were a few people with GS (Eternal Slayer) or other lances (Greybug Javelin), but mainly BDS. But it's true, lances weren't that popular before the endgame. But as soon as the headlock worked, basically everyone was running around with it and for other weapons (with the exception of GS for the Tail Cut) you were more likely to be grumbled at or not taken on the quest. At least that's how it was on the EU servers around 2005 / 06.

Got it's damage increased by 50% cuz back in og Japanese MH1, MHG and the international MH1 release, SnS was very underpowered.
Only ever carried by element alone.
So, together with nerfing Lance, they buffed SnS by an outrageous amount.
So much that 2 quick slashes of the strongest SnS were stronger than the unsheath attack of the strongest GS in the game.
Yes, the range is still an issue, but, if you know your way around it, SnS is the most powerful weapon in MHF.

Exactly. And for it to be even slightly close to the power of other weapons like bow, you have to always stay inside the goddamn circle and keep it up at the expense of your wirebugs, when you also need them for your counter switch skills. And if the monster decides to stay outside of the circle or not attack you because it's doing literally anything else, you'll have to stay there doing nothing while Harvest Moon runs out.
And in the Berserk/Strife roasting section, he describes chugging max potions like it if it was freaking herbs he was talking about. Yes TDS, being immortal is fair because you still take knock back and have to constantly stop attacking to sheathe your weapon, switch scrolls, heal, switch scrolls back again, and then chase the monster because you've probably got very far away from it to be allowed to heal in peace.

Rise's base game also had Bow as a solid contender for most broken weapon. See, Rise used Motion Values close to World's for the shot types, so Rapid 3 (akin to a Normal lv 3 shot) does around 30 MV, Spread 5 (akin to Power 3/4) does around 40, etc. BUT, they brought back the old shot type system, and with it they also brought in the Raw modifiers straight from old games. So lv 3 shots got a 1.5x buff to raw and lv 4 shots got a whopping 1.7x buff. This made the Demon's Guidance one of the most broken weapons in the game.
When Sunbreak came out Bow was knocked down a peg with its raw modifiers being cut in half, but the amount of nutty skills it got at endgame (the infamous Berserk + Strife combo in particular) kept it just as powerful even with heavy nerfs to what it was at its advent.

I hate how almost every other RUclips never gives a straight answer for which weapon had the highest capabilities. Thankyou for not saying "well, every weapon is viable".

Because its fucking obvious. HBG has all the fastest glitchless hunts
The difference isn't that insane tho that's why everyone says every weapon is viable. Its simply the truth.
For casuals, every weapon is pretty balanced since skill has a much much higher impact on dps anyway.
Monster Hunter is one of the balanced games out there. It's far from perfect but imo pretty good compared to other games that have a very streamlined meta.
In monster hunter you can run all kinds of builds without being left behind players that only play meta if you know what your doing.
it's very different for speedrunning tho.
Speedruns mostly have a defined meta for every monster, weapon and game.
you probably can't change that anyway.

Can I ask what the source of the weapon usage stats at 0:34 for MH1jp is? I didn't even know this type of data was ever available anywhere, because it seems farfetched to me that the same Lance that had the Black Dragon Spear and could headlock monsters to death was somehow the least used type in that game.

    • @Robbinoks
      @Robbinoks Месяц назад

Agreed. The Lance was an absolute necessity in fighting Lao Shan Lung.
      And headlocking ofc destroyed everything

    23:28 GOD. DAMN. GRONGIGAS.
Also really wondering why they put that raised platform in the Alatreon arena lmao. Sure he can get his horns stuck into it, but mounting and monsters being able to attacks upwards weren't a thing yet so they just... felt like putting it there I guess? Considering both this and the shitty hitboxes of the rock spires in his Iceborne arena, Alatreon does seem to have a complicated relationship with walls (in multiple senses of the word aswell lmao, due to him being so difficult).

In 4u the insect glaive was overpowered due to how mounts were so spammable and id also like to mention the seregios lbg with slicing ammo because of how easily spammable it was and the ingredients were sold in the shop so you could take max ammo capacity with zero preparation. It was nerfed in mhgu because they made slicing an internal ammo and NOT craftable

Can't believe you've omitted the autoguard gunlances in MHP3:
Autoguard activates even when shelling and reloading, hence when facing incomming attacks, just shell away in a brain dead manner. That's essentially the guard equivalence of the dodging capacity of Valor Style in MHGU, combined with the explosive qualities of slime.
