  • I've been wanting a thermal camera and I definitely lived up to my expectations, we use this to see through walls to check insulation, OPEC trickle, irrigation leaks, and so much more.

      Thanks! I’m on the mend. You can see studs, some electrical, and some plumbing depending upon conditions. I was able to locate most of the studs in my house, it was more pronounced on exterior walls were heat was making it through the wall. You’ll be able to get the general location of hot water pipes, and electrical, but it won’t give you the exact location, because it’s just working off the heat signature Of what’s inside the wall

    This is the first time I saw one of your videos and enjoyed your review.
    My sister has a dog that will not defend itself. She has a problem with
    raccoons in her back yard and wanted something for her phone that she
    could use to scan her back yard before letting her dog out. She also has
    honey bees attempting to get into the walls of her house. Do you
    think this device would work for those two things or would you recommend
    something better for her needs? Thanks for taking the time to share
    your knowledge. Peace

    Nice to see another cellphone IR camera in the market but it seems to be about 60% more than the basic FLIR One. Is it better than than and how does it compare to FLIR Pro. That would be nice to see. Perhaps the specs can indicate the difference and some advantage one way or the otherZ

    • @DoItYourselfDad
      @DoItYourselfDad  2 года назад +2

      I think the biggest difference is resolution, the flare system has a 160x120 thermal resolution, the Xtherm has a 256 x 192 thermal resolution.

    Thanks for sharing this video. I see that there’s a T2L and a T2 Search for sale. Do you (or perhaps any of your viewers) know what the difference is? The specs seem the same to me and they come from the same company. However, the T2 Search is about 100 dollars / euros more expensive. Very confusing. Thanks again and I hope your arm is better now.

    • @Craig_Humphries

      I spent the best part of two hours searching before posting the above question. Ironically, I found the answer just moments after posting it, so I thought I’d share my findings in case it will help somebody else...
      As for as I can tell, the primary difference is that the T2L has a 4mm lens (a wider field of view/ more zoomed out image). Additionally, the T2L measures down to minus 20c (-4 F?) instead of 0c (32F, I think). I don’t know for sure, but I suspect that the T2Search will have an advantage for close up (circuit board) diagnostics and for observing objects at a distance. On the other hand, the T2L would probably be better in confined spaces or in rooms where you might want a wider view of things.
      Considering the price difference, this might help influence the best choice for anybody reading this. Thanks again for your video!
      Edit: corrected a couple of spelling errors

    Thermal will not see through a wall... This post is clickbait... I have FLIR viewers, and the wall blocks the heat signature.... All you can do is detect warm or cool spots on the wall....

    When I last check infrared radiation can’t travel through objects as said objects have their own infrared source.

    • @DoItYourselfDad
      @DoItYourselfDad  6 месяцев назад

      Correct, but what is shown here is the heat signature on a wall can give you a good idea what is happening behind a wall. You can see where insulation is missing, where studs and bays are due to how they change the heat signature on the wall itself

    This video does what RUclips does best, and that is offer clickbait. The name of the video says how to see through walls. But infrared doesn’t see through walls. Nor does this video show how to look through walls. It’s just another guy trying to get you to click on his video and sell you something. Ironically most iPhones are taking infrared pics of you without your knowledge, every 5 seconds. So much for buying a fancy add on.

    • @DoItYourselfDad
      @DoItYourselfDad  2 года назад +2

      Yes and no, it doesn’t see through walls, but it does allow you to see the heat signature of what’s going on inside the walls which can be extremely useful. Which I do show several times in the video.

      You can see heat signatures though walls, i.e hot spots and cold spots (like missing insulation in a home). It’s not X-ray vision, you can see people though walls with these.
