In real life, the satellite station explosion would’ve been LOUD. Loud enough to draw in walkers from hundreds of miles away. Maybe this is why the waves seemed endless and weren’t caused by the whisperers.

I feel like this episode revealed that noise could be the Whisperers weakness. All you need are you some loud noises like fireworks (I'm sure Eugene could come up with something), and you can lead away the Whisperers herd.

As a recovering addict with 13 years sobriety...Yes. WORSE than any drug out there! Hallucinogens run a close second. Hallucinogens arent as dangerous because you are EXPECTING to hallucinate. There is a difference.
People that have been up for days due to legitimate insomnia with no drugs involved whatsoever can experience very real and dangerous hallucinations .

Theory: Siddiq's PTSD was most likely due to him being forced to cut off his friends' heads, and he's totally racked with guilt thereafter.
Wow! This didn't cross my mind but it could totally be true! Alpha could've made Siddiq cut off his friends heads! That could be the secret he is carrying, and part of the horrific PTSD he is dealing with.

Michonne was right to stop Carol. I get what she lost but she could’ve got herself and loads of others killed. They had guns and also if Alpha died or something, they would’ve launched the horde and the communities would’ve easily got destroyed.

I honestly have to disagree. I am not convinced that thy all would have attacked and maybe they would have. Most of them are all afraid of her but you take out the dictator then the community is forced to retreat and fall back.

I think that conversation with Negan & Aaron about Negan's wife might be foreshadowing for more of Negan's back story. Hope we see flashbacks!
I think they wanna show people how Negan turned evil. We need explanations there is a reason, especially if he wasn't a bad guy before the apocalypse
Negan has his own special issue in the comics that has his backstory. I have a feeling they are holding back on doing it for the show in case they want a spinoff or movie.

Carol...She's lost so much and she's doing so much to numb the pain...a pain that never seems to end.
It took me a minute to make out the illusion on the book she was looking at...Henry, Lizzie and her sister..Sophia....Everything she's lost.
There really is no coming back from that. If there is, you're never really the same.
As for Negan...He and Arron are one in the same now - both sharing the same burden.

im still waiting for negan's back story. at the same time, part of me, was glad that negan's back story isnt up there since the previous showrunner suck big time. at least if they finally decided to make one for negan with angela kang behind the chair, i 100% would have no complain lol. shes been handling all the episodes with grace and im very grateful for her existence.

Alpha is a great villain. Last episode Alpha said she was "different" even before the apocalypse. Negan seems like he was a womanizer which makes a terrible husband but I think people liked him. He seems to like children so I think he worked as something like a teacher. It would be great to see his back story.

Negan was a gym coach . He was a womanizer and wasn’t faithful to his wife. But she loved him and felt their was good in him. She always wanted children but the cancer got her.

I do wonder if Carol is hung up on the idea that things might have worked out ok if she’d have chosen Daryl instead of Ezekiel, that maybe Henry would still be around.
Remember when Sophia went missing and Carol told Daryl he’d done more for that little girl in a day than her Daddy did in her whole life?
I get that memory pop up when I watch her dream sequence of a happy life with Daryl and Henry.
Also, I think Siddiq was made to hurt one of the group last season. In Siddiq’s quick flashback sequence, we saw him looking down at a bloodied knife in first person and Alpha telling him “good” as if he’d followed instructions well, and I kind of suspect he had to hurt someone to stay alive just for Alpha’s amusement just to fuck with them even more. Knowing she can convince any of them to turn on their own people if it means saving their own skin (pun intended!). It’s psychological warfare!

The creepy vibe of this episode/season reminds me of why I fell in love with this show to begin with! I’m with y’all on the Whisperers, they have put life back into the show we all love. Also, a back story of Negan is a must for me. If they keep bringing up his wife it just may happen!!!
Sometimes I forget that horror is one of this show's genres. It's cool when they lean into it for a bit.

The Negan and Aaron interaction was great, their dialogue and fighting walkers together was fun to see. Also the Whisperers border meeting and Carol hallucinations was intense. Also, poor Eugene. I really think he should be with Rosita like the comics, I don't get why she's with Gabriel.
When Carol she was watching the cover of the book and she sees herself when she was the old carol with all her kids she protected and loved and her real daughter, all the things she lost because of this world.. that was heartbreaking, also when Daryl told her the story of his dad and then he said my dad never been a truck driver... You are so much confused and you don't know if that was a lie from daryl or an hallucination from Carol and at this moment you feel crazy too... THE WORK of this episode was AMAZING
You guys were talking about Negan back story. It was revealed that Simon was actually in charge and then Negan came along and knocked him down . I also loved Simon as a bad guy and would love to see the back story with him as well. I quite enjoyed how Simon dealt with Gregory.

Some of the ghosts Carol carries with her are all the children she has loved and lost. Henry, Sophia, Lizzie, Mika, Jessie's little boy, Alex(?). Carol is a mother of lost children. In fact, these first few episodes have dealt more with psychological fear and motherhood. Which I feel is definitely something that needs to be explored. There is a toll that grief and loss takes on a person, especially a mother. I have heard women describe motherhood as feeling like your heart has materialized outside of your body. A living, breathing, part of you that is no longer apart of you. So far this season has been very... female in tone... whereas the past few seasons were a little more masculine in tone. I really love the change because it gives the show new depth.

Whenever Daryl started talking about his dad, at first I was like, "oh shit, is Daryl opening up a little?" but then when he said he was a truck driver, I went, "he is not!" I know we don't really know anything about his dad's backstory, but something about it threw me off.
I wish they would do something with Negan. I'm not a fan of his, find him quite annoying, but he's also so boring now. If they're gonna kill him off, do it. If not, and he's going to either go rogue or be redeemed, I hope they do whichever soon.
Alpha is so terrifying and I love it. Samantha Morton is A+.
Negan has changed a lot and become a somewhat better person but there are some aspects of his character that will never change. He will never view his role in the Savior conflict as completely in the wrong and he definitely won't take insults or humiliation from others.

Not gonna lie...when Aaron went off on Negan about his wife and Negan whispers "Careful..." it gave me chills. I was so into his redemption that I almost forgot how dangerous he really is until that moment.

Jared Devan you can tell in this episode that negan isn’t at all scared of alpha or the whisperers or any of the people from Alexandria because like he said to Aaron all he sees is people pretending to be tough and brave when they aren’t
Took me to the end of the episode to realize that Carol taking those pills isn't just to stay awake to watch for and kill whisperers, but because every time she sleeps, she sees all of what she's lost :(
Now she's out of pills, so more dreams are to come I'm sure :/
This episode definitely had horror movie type vibes. Great suspense & atmosphere. Samantha Morton is incredible as Alpha. Love the psychology too & that they're hinting at Siddiq having PTSD as I've always thought that would surely be pretty prevalent amongst the survivors.

What i love about alpha and negan is that they both have some logic behind their actions and alpha was relatively reasonable this episode. The best villains are the ones you can relate to at some level. I couldnt relate to the governor at all, but can understand alpha's insane viewpoint.
It's unlikely a caffeine tablet, she's far beyond the level or tiredness that caffeine can get you to. She'll be popping anti depressants or a meth based medicine like desoxyn. Not much else that comes in a medical container will keep you awake in that state.
They’ve definitely got this series back on track recently. Start of this series and series 9 have been brilliant

I think Sadiq was forced to kill the others. In the flash back scene with Alpha were she’s holding the bloody sword she doesn’t have any blood on her an in this flashback she says good. I think because it was so horrific Sadiq blocked it out an now small pieces are coming back. 🧟♀️🧟♂️❤️

I was reading some posts and there is speculation that before the apocalypse beta was a famous singer. Later in episode 5 some people were listening to a song at hilltop (actually the song is the new release my McKinney, girl that played Beth, but it was being sung by beta....
I like how Judith stayed with RJ until it was safe because you don't sleep until it's safe and she didn't sleep.
How do you think Alpha knew they crossed their land during the winter storms when they left the area? Do you think it is possible they have an inside man in our group of heroes? Maybe Siddiq? Could explain why he was left alive and why he is having all these flashbacks

I think psychological horror can be more terrifying than other horror tropes. There is a depth to it that cuts to the bone. How do you purge the horrors in your own mind? How do you come back from it? Every person alive in this show is carrying ghosts with them in some form. Excellent and thought provoking episode. I still don't know what was real and what was not real. Where did Carol "disappear" to before the trap?
If Carol and Daryl leave the show, then so will i. They are the MVPs
You guys skipped over the whole exchange between Rosita & Eugene!!! That was major foreshadowing! While spending all those hours together taking out walkers, Eugene thought he was "protecting" Rosita because... "that little nugget (Coco) can't grow up without her mama"... and he had always thought that eventually he would change her mind about their relationship and she'd "re-zone him in to love-town". However, in this "crushing moment of clarity", he finally realizes that it's never going to happen. Distraught, he leaves.
So, what's going to happen? Sometime soon... Rosita will go out & find herself in danger, Eugene will not be around to "protect" her... she will get killed. Coco will grow up without her mother & Eugene will feel responsible.
This is a hard show to cut down and everything can’t make it. With what went down this episode, the Rosita and Eugene was the least captivating, and that includes our reaction/response to it. We feel for him. It really sucks to feel that way.

The first episode of this season before Carol saw Alpha, Daryl and Carol was looking and it looked like all the walkers were gone. I watched again cause I thought I was crazy so I'm wondering where they went. Thanks and have a great week.

I agree about Siddiq I think they’re trying to make his guilt look like PTSD. I don’t think his betrayal was major but I think he definitely made a deal with alpha to save his or rositas life or he was forced to participate in the killings
