Cormorants are protected in my state is Australia as well, and I have no idea why. Nothing destroys a fishery quicker than a cormorants. Re your hog. I get them in my dog traps regularly and I hate them. They destroy a set and trash everything. Mind you I dont go to all the trouble you did to getting them out. I find the Winchester solution gives the best results.

The feral hog infestation in Texas is so bad that we now have a law against transporting live feral hogs. Failing to kill that boar before you put him in the truck is a low level felony here, and would cost you about half the price of a new truck per hog.

You need a long snap nose trap, this holds the snout, as it charges you keep the nose tight by securing around a small tree and take up the slack. Then flip him then lash the rear legs then the front, the front and back together. Also tape up the jaw and snout so he can't bite. Job done.

That is a Anhinga. They swim with just the neck out of the water which is why "Crackers" called them Snake Birds. Their bills are perfectly straight and they will spear fish with that arrow straight beak. They will then throw them in the air off the beak and catch them, then swallow. Cormorants swim with part of their back out of the water and the beak has a downturn at the end. Their are millions of cormorants but not near that many Anhinga.

Inner tubes make good shock absorbers. Getting a light proof bag over the head/eyes (many can be seen through) & a band/tape around the mouth behind the tusks makes a difference. & a net &'or foot snare for entangling them quicker might be an option. Feet tied very well back to front on same sides. So they can't get it untied. Leather straps like large dog collars worked on deer, that have longer hocks, and will not give up like a pig @@ItsAWildLife1

Guys I live with these destructive animals down here on a small 10 acre property in south Texas. I’m sorry but I just can’t get behind trapping. I just think it’s cruel. In this day and age why not just shoot them? It’s what I do and quite frankly it’s a blast (no pun intended). I see that the trap has no teeth, but still, over time even these traps will lame any animal. To each his own, it’s nothing personal, I just wish it wasn’t done that way.

I guess they're too stupid to gnaw that rope off of them? And I don't understand why you'd wanna trap these things I mean its not like it has a mink coat or anything.

My buddy traps wild hogs - he calls me says he needs some help - and man this was the biggest boar hog i have ever seen and he was mean as a rattle snake - my buddy tried like heck using a neck snare - finally after this went on for hours I took out my .38 and popped him in the head - my buddy skinned gut cleaned and cooked that big boy and gave away the meat to a family in need.
