That boar hog was tough. Last summer gigging hogs I had a really tough one get away from me slicing up my arm and my upper thigh pretty badly. Ended up with lots of stitches. Taught me a good lesson not to let my guard down when I have them pinned.

We call them a barra once they're cut. Usually rope a back leg to get them out of the traps, some of the more solid ones their neck is bigger than the head and a rope won't hold. Nice work on the traps and cameras, good footage.

I get why it must be done but it doesn't make it any easier to watch. New science confirms that mammals in particular are more aware, not quite sentient like you and I, but definitely more profound awareness than previously believed. I understand that destructive & invasive species are a giant and expensive problems. I'm not criticizing anyone for anything, it's just difficult to watch knowing the last pig is 100% aware of what just happened to its family. Glad the two lads are safe.

Thinking from the pigs perspective this is the saddest thing i've ever seen. I understand that boars are very destructive and invasive to the environment like us humans. But they don't mean to be that way, its just the way they are. However for that daddy pig to see all the woman and children murdered in front of him and then sent to live out his days with his balls chopped off & with those traumatic memories sounds brutal... RIP little piggys

I would take a big boar and eat him have done it before as long as you can stand the smell of cleaning it then I ice the meat for seven days and on a big boar sometimes longer and drain the blood off everyday and repack with ice to account for the melting until water becomes clear or lightly tinted and then your good to go. Now that's my opinion about it.
