Great review. I actually have this bag a few years now, and although I live in one of the wettest countries on Earth, ( Ireland 🙄 ) I never had a problem with those end gaps letting water in. I notice a lot of people in the comments have concerns about those open gaps - nothing to worry about. They are the reason the bag can open so wide. Fantastic bag.
You're spot on about what would improve this bag: the pocket on the "back" for a passport or thin wallet, a dedicated internal spot for an Air Tag, and a dedicated tablet sleeve. It's so well-made with such nice materials, I just wish they'd iterate on this thing and add those features. I have a 6l version, but I plan to get a 9l version as well for travel purposes.
I completely agree with the back zipper compartment! That's why I often come back to my tomtoc and alpaka slings, the back compartment is a must for me as a phone or passport compartment haha
Fun fact: in the bottom of this bag there’s a Bellroy label in black. It has a slit that converts it into a little pocket where you can slide an Air Tag. I think all Bellroy bags have it. Just yesterday I took my green 9L for a tour around my town, visit a museum and take some nice pics. It did fit my Nikon Coolpix, (which, granted, is quite compact) a small umbrella AND my raincoat. Unbelievable. It’s like Mary Poppins’ bag. For the record, Im a petite woman only 5 ft and at first I thought this 9L would look too big on me. No sir. It looks and feels great. It’s a great travel bag also, that’s for sure
Hey Clint! Another amazing video, brother. So I have this bag, exact same bag in fact. The 9L is nice and I use this one whenever I need to carry a bit more stuff. I love this bag. The build is simply outstanding and I really dig the simple design. My only issue with Bellroy bags is the bare bones approach when it comes to organization. As you've mentioned it would be nice if it had a few extra pockets, or at least more pockets with the elastic trim to keep items secure. I also wish this bag's front pocket would have been designed much like the front pocket on the Alpeka Tech Case. You know that stitch design which allows for more bulk in the front pocket. I'm absolutely hooked on this design. No more placing items in the front pocket only to have the bulk push inward and limit space inside the main compartment. Other than my little nitpicks, this bag is really cool.
Finally, more Bellroy, how do you find the durability of the attachment points (buckle) of the straps? Since this is a 9L and the load will be more (and maybe heavier vs the 6L)
@@alvinbartolome1239 Hi Alvin! I'm sorry for the delayed reply. I personally think the Bellroy was pretty darn comfortable. I initially bought the 9L so I could carry a small water bottle whenever I go to the zoo or for long walks. The straps are pretty standard but placed at pretty good spots on the bag to make carrying it comfortable. I appreciate how it stays flush to the body unlike the Private Label brand which sorta flops all over the place. I HATED that bag. Haha! Wore it once and gave it away. Anyway, I would suggest the Bellroy by way of comfort. I also really like the simple design. My biggest issue with the Bellroy is the lack of dedicated storage sections. Alternatively a plus I have with the bag is the fact that it doesn't have magnetic clasps. I would suggest the Aer Day Sling Max if it weren't for that dang magnetic buckle. However if you like Maglok, I personally would say the AER Day Sling Max is the way to go as it has much better organization.
@@genefactor007 thank you for the feedback, I really appreciate it. I think I would go for the 10L Venture Sling as a camera bag/cube, I just need to save money as the price is heavenward. :)
Really like this sling from Bellroy (especially in that bronze color) but it doesn't come close to how much I love my new Tomtoc sling in x-pac, Klint. I hope it is ok to post a little about it here; I'll keep it short. The TT is awesome in every way and wears extremely well with the offset placement of the straps. I really like the new subdued TT logo, the pockets, & the orange interior, too. Man, I'm in love! I can't say enough about your generosity over hitting 4k subscribers and giving this beauty away, too. I think everyone here already knows it but I'll say it anyway...you da man!!
Was just looking at this sling, wanted something bigger than my lite sling but smaller than my Vanquest backpack. Appreciate the reviews keep them coming!
I have the camera version which is mostly similar but with a really nice upgraded strap, bit larger size, and some padding and dividers. There are some aspects I don't love, but the one big defect with the venture sling line is the quick release strap connectors, which on the bag side are made of pretty delicate plastic. Some users have already experienced early catastrophic failures on the buckles, and in some regions, have encountered resistance to warranty claims on the buckle failures. I've added some paracord on mine to prevent the bag falling in case of a failure. I'm not that salty about it since I got it on sale from Huckberry for $75, at that price I have no issue with the compromises.
I had not heard about the durability issue with the connectors. Sorry to hear that, and I have not owned the bag long enough to have discovered it. Thank you for sharing.
It's a good thing you were able to include an umbrella in this carry, as I have to question the decision to recess the front pocket zipper that deep. Seems to me that would allow water to pool there if you ever found yourself caught out in the rain, and I doubt even the weather-resistant zippers are keeping that out. If by some miracle they do, you certainly can't open that zipper until you've mopped it all up. That said, the Venture is a beautiful bag with some really interesting features. The clay interior of that one pocket was chef's kiss.
really like this channel because we always get to see something new and interesting and I always agree with the two things you like or you don't like as much
Hey Clint! Great video on the Bellroy Venture Sling. I've also enjoyed your videos on the Alpha One Niner Chio X as well. I was wondering how you would compare between the two?
Hey man. First - thanks for watching the channel! As for those two bags…very different carries. Despite similarities in overall volume, the Chio X feels much bigger in real life than the Venture. The venture is intentionally trying to be minimalist and small - a requirement for a bag designed to be purely crossbody. The Chio X is designed to be worn satchel style (although you can tighten it up) which allows the designer to focus on utility and it feels much bigger and more spacious - even the pocketing feels more generous. That being said - the satchel style carry isn’t for everyone - and so the Venture is a nice spacious sling for those needing to hold things close to the chest.
I got the 6L version when it was on sale before and I love it, it fits a lot and hangs really nicely. The strap is so good feeling, smooth and wide and the double ended clips are the best. you got me contemplating the 9l too, like you said though with more weight I sorta prefer a padded strap, like on the monarc settra sling or errant sling. But if you can keep it light, this would be the way to go. For tech carry yeah I throw my iPad mini in there but only in a hard zugu case, and only if not much else is going in there. May get an alpaka go sling mini and move my venture up to a 9l as their design sorta works best for those sizes.
I went the other way, started with the 9L, and 1 month later decided to get 6L for shorter trips, and more around town. These are well thought out slings, and the small openings are no issue at all, unless you like to ride your bags upside down. Very impressed with the quality.Get the 9L!!!
never been a bellroy fan, always preferred Aer products, got alot of the backpacks and day recently these have been growing on me, cant make my mind up between the 9l or 7 or 4l bags though.#

Great video! I'm seriously contemplating this. I actually just ordered the 5.11 LV8 Sling Pack, and I'm curious to see how it compares. (I have the LV10 gen1 and find it a little too cumbersome). I'm specifically thinking of using this as a Disney/theme park day bag. I think I'm done taking back packs into the parks... (still love my GORUCKs but a little overkill for the parks).
The Venture 6L feels more like 4.5L to me when compared to my Bounce Design Labs 3DC (3L) and Tom Bihn Side Hustle (6L) It is almost exactly in the middle between them.
Could one feasibly carry this bag by the loop which is formed where the strap attaches to the bag? I really like a handle on a bag. Also, do you know of any 9L slings that have a handle?
You could, but that's not ideal. A 9L sling with a handle? kargogear.com/products/kargo-sling-bag - consider this, it feels bigger than its listed size. Also consider Greenroom136's slings.
The side hustle feels a tiny bit bigger than the Chio - but including all the exterior pockets means you can get more into it overall - that’s my experience

who needs "secret" airtag pocket? if someone stole your bag he will take stuff and dump your bag with airtag lol, and if you can't remember where is your bag , maybe you don't need it?
While I love the materials of the Bellroy venture slings my one real complaint is, its lack of organisation.. after about 6 months of using the Bellroy venture 6L I ended up purchasing an Alpaka elements Tech case max to use as my daily sling because of its awesome organisation. I also added two hub pouches which fit perfectly in the Tech case max for further organisation. It’s a dream setup for an iPad mini setup and daily essentials as well as the ability to swap out Hub pouches depending what the day requires.
I think every bellroy bag has a bellroy tag inside the bag that has a slip pocket inside the tag to put an air tag in. They have a video on their RUclips channel showing how to use it. ruclips.net/video/h6w7oxQhNVA/видео.html

Love hearing this review - and the insider info! Thanks for sharing your experience with this one!
Definitely wish they had a back/third pocket on their slings. The Chimera collab has it and it should be on all the slings!
That buckle removal always comes in clutch for when you forget and put a jacket on, or while traveling, put on an additional backpack, etc.
Literally just picked this bag up today for an upcoming trip! Thanks for your insights.
I tell you what, if it wasn't for this channel, I'd not have the bags I do. It's like a new hobby for me now.
That’s so fun! I love collecting bags - and trading them - and using them and learning about them! I’m super glad you’re enjoying the channel!
Totally agree with secret airtag pockets. Would love them on more bags.
It has one. It’s inside the sling. On the bottom there’s a Bellroy tag, and there’s a slot in the tag.

Chrome feels bigger for sure….but I think this is intentionally designed to feel smaller….so both are achieving what they set out for.

Yes….but it’s such a light bag that it wasn’t quite as big of a deal as in other bags.
@ThePerfectBag But the grab handle feature is for when it's full and heavy, right? Esp at 9L capacity. Not when it's light and/or empty 🙂
