This is currently my everyday sling and I love it. I’m a smaller person so it has both enough room for all my things without looking ridiculous when I carry it around
I chose to go with the 9L 3 months ago and havent looked back. its been brilliant for my daily carry to work as i dont use a laptop. i dont sling it on my back as shown in the video, but rather cross body messenger style. I carry 2 notebooks +EDC so the 6 L would have been too tight a fit, the 9 L was perfect, highly recommend!
I'm looking for quite some time at this sling, i want to replace my peakdesign even if this is not made for cameras and doesn't have the right padding and compartments. The reason i want it it's because it's packable, i can make it flat and carry it in my bigger bag in plane, then use it at my destination. If you leave the zipper a bit open you can keep the bottle standing up making more space inside. They totally blew it with the second zipper though, it will collect all the water there. Also it doesn't have a way to carry in hand
This is a nice bag if you don't have a lot of EDC. It can fit a lot, but that's if you want to jam pack it to the point where it's difficult to get things in and out of it. Surprisingly I bought a 2 l Walmart fanny pack and could fit about the same amount in it. The amount of liters they advertise is definitely misleading. I think part of the problem is that this pack is very rigid. I found myself struggling to get to things in it because it was so tight. If you want extra space to be able to go through your things in the bag I suggest a 9 l or 10 l. It gives you room to move things around and look what you are finding for instead of having to take things out to get to other things.
Coming from the cycling industry, I could never get behind a shoulder bag of any kind unless it has a stabilizer strap that goes from the middle of the sternum to the other side of the pack. This keeps the bag on your back when you’re riding a bike instead of it sliding down in front of you and getting in the way. It also allows you to simply move around without always having to stabilize your bag. I wish every sling bag would have this option.
Purchased this a few days ago and I’m waiting for it to arrive. Before this one I purchased a Codeofbell X-Pod and found it to be too small for my liking. Hoping this will be perfect! Keen to see how it goes. I assumed the 9L would be way too big in this bag format.
Thanks Tom for the detailed review. One question (which is making me hesitant in pulling the trigger on this) is: Given the smoothness of the strap on the nightblue (other colourways have a much rougher, textured strap), have you experienced the strap slipping especially when bending forward or running? May get the midnight colour if this is the case even though the nightsky is my preferred colour. Many thanks and looking forward to the next video.
So here's the thing - I'm off on a holiday and looking to purchase an EDC to hold various small items including a Fujifilm X100V, small water bottle, and glasses. I purchased the Bellroy Venture Sling 6L and think it looks great but is a bit smaller than I imagined tbh considering the 6L size mark. For example, the Peak Design Everyday Sling 3L camera bag - yes 3L - (superbly made also) has almost the EXACT same dimensions, looks able to store pretty much exactly the same amount of items and is extremely well crafted with comparable weather resistance etc - BUT quite a bit cheaper. Why is the Bellroy so much more expensive and named 6L, when the Peak Design of the same size is 3L ??????? Is there something odd going on???
How does it compare to the traditional bellroy sling on capacity? I have the classic size it is a little bit tight for me but would work except that the access to the main compartment in the classic is quite awful. I see this is listed to 6L compared to the 7L of the classic, but this has way better access and I know liters are rarely a precise mesure for backpacks. Also the compressing thing on the classic kind of compress it too much making it more tight, this version seems more gentle on that regard. Thank you and great work as usual
I am interested in purchasing this sling, but noticed Bellroy recently released an ECOPAK version. The material looks like X-PAC, plus it has an elasticated strap with no clips. There are no videos currently out, hopefully you guys will review it soon.
Can you theoretically wear it as a hip bag? I don't often wear slings that way but I love to have the option, when my shoulders need a break or when I'm in transit an wearing a backpack as well...
I really like everything about this sling but idk where to put my phone inside this sling because the front pocket looks very small for it. I wish it had a back pocket like the ones you can find in all aer slings.
Is it difficult to put your phone inside the front compartment if the mesh pockets are obstructing the tight space for it especially if there's a wallet, key holder, etc. in there?
An iPhone Pro Max fits inside, but it might be a tight squeeze if you had a larger case. It covers the mesh pockets, but they’re not hard to access. -Eric
thoughts on the durability of the zipper pull tabs meeting in the center and not having a " end " so to speak on the ends. do you think its a higher chance of the zippers popping out of track because of this? with both zippers in the main compartment zipped the the center there's not much holding them together
@@PackHacker2 I wound up changing my mind completely. I saw a friend's Mystery Ranch Forager Hip Pack and was impressed. It looked really nice and is perfect for my needs. I only need to carry my phone, keys, and a small water bottle when I cannot or do not want to use my pockets. I was surprised by the price of the Mystery Ranch bag when I went to their site. It is insanely cheap. Mine arrived today. Mine is the Shadow Moon color. I was worried about how it would look since I am not familiar with Mystery Ranch and how their color schemes look in person. I think mine looks perfect. And it goes well with other bags I own. I also like that Mystery Ranch lifetime warranties their products for life. I will buy from Mystery Ranch again in the future.
Question about this bag. I'm trying to judge here, but do you reckon that you could fit a camera with attached lens in this bag? What I like about this bag is its small, slim profile. What drives me away from other bags is they become big and boxy, like you've just got a cube on your back. But would this smaller bag fit my Canon EOS R w/ 24-105 lens? I wouldn't have any other object besides putting the camera in there plus like my keys, wallet, EDC etc. What do you think?
I think it will fit, i have the 6L peakdesign and it fits my sony + an extra lens. PD is more sturdy with narrow bottom, this being more flexible i think it will fit better. I also want to get it for my camera, mostly for my tiny olympus, but the reason is because it's packable. Now i learned from this review about the 2 way zipper and it gave me ideas, you unzip one end and you can keep a bottle standing up there.
@Trooth It is not possible to touch the back and front together? I'm of course not thinking of folding it, just to make it flat, to occupy as less space as possible.
Do you find that the harness presses on to your back if you also wear a backpack with it? I remember someone mentioned on the Lululemon sling video and while I have and love that bag, I am looking for something a bit bigger but can still wear a backpack when I am traveling.
Thanks. Took the plunge and got the 6L venture sling and really liked it. Overall design feels nice on the outside and when carrying on my back. Though sometimes I do wish it was a bit bigger like 7L, the 9L looks too big for my liking.
@@timhuynh6164 nothing heavy. Cell, keys, tissues, etc. no idea why it broke so I reached out to the warranty dept. not sure how to post a pic here but it’s a small part of the clip.
I just learned about Heroclips while watching another Bellroy Venture Sling review - the other reviewer had one in the same location. So, having never owned one, I am curious: What is purpose for having one of these clips on your bag? Is it to use in conjunction with the bag (and if so, how?) or is it just so you have a Heroclip with you? If the latter, then I presume Heroclips must be really useful (I'll watch some Heroclip videos next ;)
You can hang your bag on something, such as a bathroom stall hook. Or hang something from your bag. Check out the different sizes of these hooks on Amazon as well as the reviews and you’ll get some ideas of uses.
The two-ended zip on this is a design failure: If you want an "ambidextrous" zip that can open from either end, they could have achieved the same thing with a pair of two-way zip pulls that were closed at either end instead of open. The advantage of being closed at either end is that you can choose to move the two zip pills to your preferred end, and then the other end is no longer a security worry in busy crowded spaces eg queues or trains etc.
It's not a failure, it is a design choice, they wanted easy access and a much bigger opening on both sides at the same time and went with that design. Safety / Convenience balance usually works that way and the advantage you get with the current zipper setup is quite nice. If you're too worried about pickpockets than the majority of the bags on the market have the exact or similar zipper setup you've described anyways.
@@agamemnon60 yeah for sure, but it is not a failure because their intentions with this bag wasn’t making it as safe as possible. They wanted big easy access and succeeded.
