I did it! 1. I started with the +/- to make sure I didn't screw that up right off the bat. Those surface mount components were so tiny! I am not sure if it was the flux or not, but I had the hardest time getting solder to stick to them. I finally got a little on each and then soldered the wire. I powered on the Switch and the LED on the mod chip board came on as well as the switch. 2. Once I knew the system still powered on I then proceeded with the other three. Those were easy. Solder flowed onto the pads easily and wires stuck nicely. 3. I already had Android OS on my switch so all I needed was to copy the boot.dat, boot.ini and hekate.bin file to my SD and edit to boot.ini to point to the hekate.ini file. 4. I booted up and can now play in my Android OS without plugging the Switch into a PC or other device to invect the payload. Thanks for the video and links!
All new stuff uses unleaded solder and it has a higher melting point than the old stuff or prolly the stuff you have. Set your iron to 300c to get that stuff melted but best to feed in some of your solder to help melt all of it. And no, flux does not make soldering harder. It helps solder flow to the copper tracks/pads/soldered connections. It's a must have in smd soldering.
Can you do a video to show the other install method that uses the magnetic reed switch and that you can boot directly without holding vol+ and power also show the alternative solder points that don't require you to solder to the caps
