Just did my picofly install the other day watching your other videos for reference... This comes a little late hahaha
Im not an experienced solderer in any way but the mod was good and not too difficult.
Good video as always!
was ur mod an oled?
Great video as always. Let's just hope the customer backed up his nintendo folder because you deleted it off of the sd card
RIP SD Card
Then he shouldn't have sent the card 🤷♂️
you are my hero, great work, sad that i live so far away but to send you my switch.. keep the good work
I was hoping you would revisit this with waveshare's new RPi 2040 tiny development board. It drops the USB and buttons, reducing your work load. It appears that it may have resistors already in place too.
Edit: I was mistaken about the resistors on 27, 28, and 29, but it should still be an easier process
Rp2040 tiny rev. 1.1 have 47ohm resistor in lines cmd, clk and dat0. No need others resistors in normal situation.
Where can i get one of those?@
Thank you for explaining why its expensive to make our switch moded, it makes sense because how finicky the work to be done just to make sure not frying some parts while soldering, thanks
Oh yea, even with soldering experience I paid to have someone do it for me. It was pricey, but far less costly than ruining my switch with my dollar store iron.
People need to respect the expertise, and their equipment, as well as time.
people crying about paying to mod the switch and then go and buy 3 games....
@@justinbouchardwho said anything about BUYING games, I'm following this tutorial for a reason
I have done a switch lite with even doing 2 mosfets, and it is good to see I can do dat0 without hot air station. I just ordered a totk OLED for myself and looking forward to doing this mod. Great video with explanations. Wish I found your channel sooner instead of picofly forums. ;)
saya juga terkejut.. ternyata gak pake hot air station. .
how did it go?
@@numeral382 honestly hot air station sitting on garage floor but I have since done 3 OLED's with adapter. I had issues with one of them needing to take apart and fix it. I am working up the confidence to try re-flowing nand, I'll get to it sometime.
Very good and detailed installation. A question: what is the diameter of the copper cable used or what is the recommended one?
Your videos are amazing. Is your "low melt" solder 63sn/37pb? What diameter is the enameled copper wire? Thank you!
i was looking for this video every single day and night on youtube. Many many thanks for that video and good info. Also i was looking for a hot ait gun to use on my oled but afraid to use. is it safe to idk throwing to bed or couch ?
Thanks so much for bringing us this great vid! 🥂🥂
Thanks for the video ! I just have one question, how much would you charge for an picofly install ?
Czesc, nabylem switcha oled zelda edition. Jaki polecasz zestaw do przerobienia konsoli i gdzie najlepiej kupic? Pozdrawiam
Are those just regular copper jumper wires? What diameter do you use?
Hi awesome soldering work. I bought an already modded switch. I’m very curious what chip was installed so is there a way to find out without opening the console?
Why don't you ask the person you bought it from
Nice video! I noticed your diode reading on the CPU is a lot lower than mine. The value on mine is a lot closer to the value of the RST point. So around 1.1-1.2 but your CPU measurement was around 0.450. Any idea why this is? I have no problems with my install and to be honest I never noted the values on the first few installs I just used diode mode to check for shorts. I used a HWFLY CPU cable for a Switch Lite and I soldered to the third pin counting from the one with the white triangle the same as you in this video. Any idea why my value would be so different even though it works fine?
The diode value reading isn't important. As long as it's showing a connection with no short it's good to go. You should expect to see between 400-800 on the multi, 1.1 is still good too.
Was just wondering if picofly is better than hwfly. Your timing is brilliant 😂❤
In function, it's reported as faster at glitching than HWfly so it is better. It's also much much cheaper (The RP2040-zero board is about $10 and hwfly close to $100).
The disadvantage is it is harder to install since you need to solder the resistors to the RP2040 and also remove the switches and USB port (if you don't remove them the switch won't close up again).
@@Xorthis I don't think glitching time is very important. You don't exactly reboot a switch very often. The picofly has automatic glitch timing adjustment and reset on failure though, which is much more interesting for longevity without having to unscrew and/or tinker with the switch.
@@antonwestin5464 I never said it was important, I just pointed out a difference. And yep, the autoreset on failure is another advantage. It will be even better once the hwfly creators release their RP2040 based revisions which will be easier to install and much cheaper.
@@Xorthis £25-£30 average price for hwfly v4 from china
Google heard your thoughts and presented you a video
Hello how much would u charge for this service please ?
I wonder what is takinf so long for c Fly chips to appear in the usual places, custom RP2040 mod chip boards, kits with the ribbon cables included.
legend- dairy, will definitely reference this video for friends and future
Hello, this is my case, I spent 3 days reading and I can't find additional information, we installed this chip in a 100% new OLED, the machine worked about 5 times until I reached the joycon configuration menu, then it gave the error in the photographs When I opened it, the chip just turned on blue and I did not enter hetake anymore, the chip was removed, all the points were checked, I changed the resistance that everyone mentions in different cases and nothing, 2 times it gave purple screen but now it does not turn on everything, what else can we do? Was the chip that damaged a 100% new machine? We have installed the old chips and no problem, now we don't know what to do if we install these chips? How can we try to repair this machine? It is 100% new and so after 5 times that it turned on well, it no longer works, I appreciate all the help
What temp (Farenheit) did you use to remove the buttons and usbc port? I think I damaged the board trying to get those off!
Nice job! For the V1 Switch, do I also need to solder the wire to the third pin on the APU thing? I dont think I am capable of doing it with the mosfets and would rather do it like you
If you have a v1 you only need a jig and a rcm loader. No soldering needed.
Wanted to ask when you use those small wires for the modchips from point to point, does it matter that they are touching each other, or criss-cross against each other. I.e. electric or data. As its seems it doesn't, as I saw 2 video's and you leave them touching each other
The wire he is using is called magnet wire, I had the same concern aswell. Magnet wire has an enamel coating that prevents the wires from shorting.
@@Sirsinothanks for the explanation
what tweezers are you using? they look really good quality
Great video! Definitely looking into the ali express rp 2040 OLED now because of this video, which is this but attached to a board like the hwfly is. Are you able to make a video on installing that board to an OLED switch? No video exists anywhere, but it's better than the hwfly from what I'm hearing, so a video from someone would definitely push me to getting it. Thank you in advance for reading my comment, keep up the great work!
That IS an OLED switch he installed it into.
@@Xorthis some people are just stupid, don't worry about them ...
@@Antidepressiva1980 No, actually you guys are stupid cause he's talking about rp2040 oled chip, which is a set to make rp2040 easier to install on oled switch. I'd like to see that video as well.
@@Antidepressiva1980 I realize that the connector cables are the same, so I'll just use those. Sorry for not looking into it further before posting!
all cool@@ethansnyder5515
Hi, i need help for my OLED. I got error code ** RST not connected. I checked with multimeter and didn’t get any reading even when i put directly on the RST point. Is there any other RST point that i can solder?
Cool and well done, perfect job. Congrats from Brazil
Amazing video ❤ I was just wondering what size of enamel wire you are using I heard someone say if it’s too small it could blow up and do you recommend enamel or Teflon wire more
those look like 0.1mm
@@antonwestin5464 ok ty
yeah it's 0.1mm, they work fine. Some people are using 0.2mm for the 3.3v and Ground, but it shouldn't be an issue as long as you don't used mixed gauge for both 3.3v and GND (what goes in must come out). Teflon is actually a little easier to work with as you can simply melt the teflon off the wire ends when soldering. Enamel can be a bit tougher to strip and tin with heat. As you can see he pretinned the wires to avoid holding the iron on the components while waiting for the enamel to strip. There's a good guide on tinning magnet wires here: ruclips.net/video/0YIT6MeaXT4/видео.html
Random question, what do you use for jumper wires?
He's using enameled wire, looks like awg 38
Great video, thank you very much.
Is it possible to get links for this two Adapters, Dat0 and the other for OLED? Thanks in advance
What tape did you end up using? The kapton tape or the 1mm tape?
Hello. What soldering iron are you using and is it something you would recommend? I'm on the look for one.
Hakko FX888D Is decent one if you planning to solder more than one time
@@reversedon8698 i ended up buying a Stamos S-LS-17 rework station. It's known under other brand names in other regions such as Yihua and Bacoeng both with the same model number 862D+.
well made video .. best ive ever seen clear HD,,
I think the chip on the back that's going you hard time fixing the pico is the 3v3 regulator, which I always remove after I flash the firmware. I noticed that you use 0.1mm on 3v3, do you think it's safe?
Is it some kind of shielding on that cable? Seems like all the cables is mixed together and will get shorted out?
Es esmaltado
Do I have to erase everything from my SD card before? I have some switch games installed on
Great! Thank you for the video! 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for uploading this
Can you explain how you test the solder points with a multimeter? Diode mode and what values i should expect? Many thx for the great videos!
According to @Xorthis, the diode value reading isn't important. As long as it's showing a connection with no short it's good to go. You should expect to see between 400-800 on the multi, 1.1 is still good too.
In which programing language is It written? Can it be hosted be something else such as the esp32s2mini?
I've heared that with instlling picofly you can easly damage console, and atleast for now it's advised to install hwfly/instinct... Do you believe that is true, or maybe they want to keep selling hwfly/instinct that are way more expensive?
I also noticed that for dat0 point you are not reflowing chip anymore, Why is that?
hwfly does not work in a oled, after 6 months the console is damaged
So it worked for 6 months, seems it works. In what way is the console damaged?
@@DXJG Are you a bot hired by Nintendo to say one thing to discredit modchips?
@@Xorthis here in this country the soldiers does not recommend use that mod chip in oled. They use the recent one.
@@DXJG Of course they would, since to install picofly you need to prep the RP2040 itself by removing components and soldering the resistors. It's more work.
At the end of the day the work you do on the console is pretty much the same. You still need to either reflow the EMMC or use a bridge, you still have to scratch the CLK point and you still need to solder MOSFETS on the APU. The chip itself is not going to brick the console any more than HWFly (As I said before, hwfly now uses RP2040 chips too, that is the latest version)
Great work. Can I get a link for your chisel soldering tip?
This is meant for educational purposes, very Informative thank you for the video. But do you think using some Insolated wired connection for my console would be much better
This wire is "insulated" it's coated with enamel to prevent shorts
i am a couple months out from being able to do this to mine. is there any chance the big N will try to take this video down ?
Where did you get those flexible PCBs? I thought this modchip used just the Rp2040
You don't need the ribbon cable, it's part of the hwfly kit. It just helps vs using mosfets.
@@garypinholster1962 Do you know where I can find a guide for installing the Picofly mod? I can't find any anywhere
Wouldn't the exposed wires short to each other? I did some soldering to chipmod some xbox and always used wires with plastic covers
this looks like magnet wire which is typically insulated in enamel. when he solders to the points/pads, it melts the enamel.
What do you mean by “the B-point is really sentitive”? Does it “break” fast or what is a common issue?
Hace contacto y conducir electricidad erróneamente
it was hard for solder points cmd etc for me on lite so deicded to buy hwfly also soldering tip 0.2mm had before 1,5mm :D
I have a question, if I was to do this mod would I be able to update regularly to play online
Hello,
You are Really very-very Professional!
Thanks the video!
I rarely push subscribe,but now i do.
Hello. What's the tip you used for point C?
do u have a part/material list for this job? what kind of wire and resistors and such are u using
This video never got to the "Is it better than HWFLY" part :'D Do you think it is? Aside from needing resistors, what is the difference?
Hallo have someone a link were i can buy the flex cabels? Is Ali express the online Shop?
What brand of solder mask do you use?
How can I get in touch with you to have this done to mine?
I have got oled with Picofly , can you update OFW via ota?
how would I flash a newer firmware after I removed the USB connector?
Hi, tell me if you know what the problem is. I installed rp2040 on oled, hekate starts, but when creating emunand, writes that emmc faild. The info tab does not see emmc either. Dat0 soldered with a loop without heating, the multimeter shows 0.950, any thoughts or solution to this?
I'm happy enough to have an Erista switch and not a Mariko model
Where do you buy everything he used?
How do you know the values if its good or not is there any kind of sheet?? Just wondering man im studying electrical and I don’t know how you know these things can anyone give me some tips? I don’t mean the mod itself just the work and values in general
He doing work great 🎉 🎉 🎉 i think your soldring tip and flux is so expinsev.
i would love a recommended site to purchase me a Hwfly Chip?
Is picofly gonna take more power then modchips??
How much do you charge for to modify the switch old?
hi, nice video, what's the resistor information to look for and buy? thank you for this video!

what if i change the board from picofly to hwfly picofly? can you make a video for this?
Muy bueno el consejo

what happened if the dat0 is over voltage?
Great video. What is your opinion on picofly? i have heard rumors of it breaking the console. Has there been any problem with switches with these chips?
Awesome video !! 👏🏻💪🏻
First solder I was like "yeah I can't do this"
Which method is better?
You didn't use the hot air station to solder dat0 emmc, isn't it necessary?
Some of the big modders have stated reflowing can upset the factory stability of the EMMC's BGA and cause issues over time with heat cycling. A good quality DAT0 adaptor can be pressure installed well enough.
@@Xorthis Ok, thanks you
Hello, I don't speak English so please excuse my English. If I install this chip in a switch, will I no longer be able to update the console version? My technician told me no but it seems very weird
You can still update the console. But you need to follow the posted guides on updating as hekate will need updating, as will the picofly firmware.
Hello, what is the price of this installation please
he's using a rp2040, 3x 47 Ohm resistors hwfly cable and don't use wire under 30 awg. So around 27 bucks for everything minus soldering equipment(iron kit, flux, solder).
what gauge wire is he using
whats that internal sd card thing?
Do you have an amazon link to the low melt solder you use?
It's either chip quik or SRA fast chip, they're both pretty much identical. Fast chip tends to be a little cheaper.
Im not very confident with that DAT0 connection. I had my hwfly last me three weeks before one day it suddenly couldnt execute the glitch anymore (purple flasing LED stuck at boot). Hot air reflowed the dat0 flex to the flash and now I can be sure it wont happen again. But otherwise interesting video!
Reflow isn't exactly safe either since it can lead to the bga cracking. Unless you're reballing and doing a direct solder onto dat0, it makes more sense to friction mount since realigning the adapter is way easier than reballing the emmc if something goes wrong.
how much would cost me to install hwfly in lite model?
Thanks awsome video!
Can you tell me how much this service cost?
I don't have a price list, but in my country they charge around $200 for this install. I'd imagine he's charging somewhere between £100-£150 for this install.
@Xorthis 150£ was price for hwfly mod chip installation where alone mod chip cost 70£.Hardware required for pikofly mod cost 10£ so I'm not sure if this service still zcost 150£.
@@bartlomiejbarski1301 Most people charge a £50 bench fee for just looking at your hardware on their workbench. £100 would be a low guesstimate. The cost where I live is £150 for any modchip install.
