Taki, thank you for providing proper captions with your videos. It's an often overlooked accessibility feature, and I appreciate it because I personally like watching without sound sometimes. This also helps lots of people who have lesser hearing or issues with auditory processing. Very fascinating to see this little system output such resolutions, too.
Someone modded 8GBs of RAM onto their Switch oled, and then unlocked the resolution in Zelda to 4k, it wasn't playable but it was still impressive it ran at all

There was another RUclipsr who made a 3D printed docked switch pro. That stayed in docked mode by removing the screen, added a Noctua fan and over clocked without unlocking. I think if you made that 3D printed case with cooling you might be able get a few more percents better on your testing.

While it cant clock as high as the v2/oled, the Oled has a NERF'D FAN ( Which no one ever talks about ) which has seen an abundance of switch HW being fried. The V1 switch OC numbers are also considered safe when applied to the switch lite, but can be a problem on other v1 HW.

I think the Switch might be the world's first console capable of emulating itself. This hackery reminds me of Bleem!, the commercial PlayStation emulator for the Dreamcast.
That screen tearing may be an Nvidia issue. On Linux, the new display system Wayland has tearing issue with Nvidia due to Nvidia not having their drivers fully up to date for it. (The fixes to solve the issue have been pushed back 4 times now but SHOULD be there in driver 560 at the latest). If the Switch was an AMD GPU this tearing may not happen as on Wayland compositors by default there is always v-sync all the time on everything. Now if the Switch Linux is rendering with the old Xorg/X11 system this is not applicable
I think there should be a SteamOS- Like front end OS based on linux for modded switches that plays Switch games sort of like how the original xbox could install linux dashboards and still play the games.

I am genuinely blown away by how well Linux games run on the Switch. Usually putting an operating system on top of consoles like this doesn't end well to say the least. The fact that you can do lighter games at all at 4k is amazing. Makes me wonder if they did have some internal plans to support 4k resolutions on at least the OLED switch that fell through once they started on the Switch 2.

i remember playing botw on cemu and thinking... man, in about 5 years, nintendo is going to release NXext and that... that is going to be able to play this game in 4k/60. as it stands now, 5k/120fps breath of the wild on my PC is still the best i've ever had :)

16:34 correction ships port does not run at 60fps but 20fps and used interpretation to make it feel like 60 FPS but it’s not true 60 FPS and it’s very easy to tell. If you want 60 FPS. Use open ocarina of time it has up to 120 FPS and it’s more accurate and it looks better overall.
Do you have a screen mod in your V1? At around 3:36 you're talking about your V1 Switch docked and outputting to an external screen, but it looks as though you're using an OLED with your V1-mod joycons attached. Have I misunderstood? My wife is using my V1 at the moment so I'd love to know if there's a better screen I can install for her.

It's a very Nintendo thing to do I really hope they didn't cut any corners for the Switch 2, at least not where it counts. I fully expect 4k HDR, i would be so disappointed if that's not actually the case. And for handheld 1080p or a *good* 90hz oled in a lower res, like the steam deck

The Tegra X1 was a Maxwell based GPU and these had performance issues when outputting in HDR, newer architectures doesnt have this issue, so there is no difference between SDR and HDR. For me I hope Nintendo finally adds a proper Surround Codec. LPCM ist fine and actually super clean because in its nature its uncompressed but its so annoying to get working because most TVs arent passing this through so you have to plug in the Switch directly to the soundbar or av which cant introduce some delay and ist guaranteed that LPCM is accepted. So please use Dolby or DTS this time Nintendo
I mean this to me is a sign that the next Switch should be capable of all of this with ease and maintain good battery life when undocked. I assume it will upscale when docked only just like this example. I am excited for the future.

I think we can assume the switch 1 OLED is capable of running a majority of the upcoming switch 2 games, but it won't be native. Switch 1 emulating switch 2 games in 4k. Can't wait.

Something I noticed, is that, at least on my smaller screens, the minimum I'm fine with is 720p, so I'm fine with the switch outputting in 720p.

How's the power draw with these overclocks? I know the OLED usually draws 6-7W in the dock, what is it like here?
Excluding the last section, ~6-9W is normal.

crispy doom is software rendered so it actually doesn’t render on the gpu at all, it’s just raw cpu so that’s why crispydoom was running slower
