I have nothing but mad respect for folks who have soldering skills, bravo!!
Its really NOT a hard skill to learn m8 .........................................
@@parkjustin1797 was actually fairly decent in my prime. Not this level though. Plus my hands are WAY too shaky and unstable though s thanks to arthritis
@@Paradigmfusion AS a pro i hear this shaky hand bs all the time from the pretenders XD yall kil me XD
I know it's a hard skill. Jelly.
@@jeffdughman9741 I’ve been working on computers for 38 years boss. As I said before. I was decent in my prime but once the arthritis, carpal tunnel and shakiness came in I can’t really solder anything super tiny anymore.
wait till you hit 40, it'll hit you too.
This is the first chip I've installed into a Switch. Amazingly, I had no issues with grounding; it worked immediately after installing. I'll def be more careful installing the next chip I have coming in.
Was it difficult ? Im not stupid but I prefer working on cars not electronics. I’m pretty skilled mechanically and dexterous with my hands. I’d just like to know if it’s worth sending it to a 3rd party for install.
@@martypino5258 you could find out EXACTLY how difficult it is by watching the video you're commenting on
@@martypino5258 its definitely safer to hand it to a trusted third party to take care of, but it's not as hard as I thought, but it's bad if you mess up
someone in my city installs only this chip. is it good? never heard of it. Only the hwfly.
This is absolutely wild. Bravo
it doesn't really matter, but it's a lot easier and less likely to cause damage by wiggling it left and right if you just use a sewing needle to lever the little latches on the APU shield outwards. Then the shield comes off extremely easily without the need to wiggle it and bend it.
True, i did that while i was figuring a way to not damage stuff since i got a hard time to open it and i didn't want to bend it ike crazy from 1 angle.
Thank you, I was trying to come up with better ideas for removing the APU shield as that looks bad even if no one will see it.
Top stuff. Remember guys, its not his, issue it's steves issue. He was just doing what steve asked. 😉👍
I’m probably the dumbest person here I’ll admit but this was a very interesting watch. It still blows my mind how creative people can get. Cheers 🍻 you deff deserve more subs !
Nah the dumbest person decided not to comment. Your not dumb man.
Just another lazy otaku
Someday i want to be like him, thanks for bringing this experience, its motivating (not for hack consoles)
Thanks bro, I use half of your techniques in my installation (same chip) I’ve skip the nand reflow (I’ve use the elasticity of the ground pads to push further and its working even after a big shake )
This is the way to go
what is it? please can u give name of this item?
What does this mean? You only soldered point c and the two anchor legs?
@@michaellvoltare yep that is it Michael, because it’s a flexible PCB I use a tweezers to push PCB ever so slightly further, tested the ohms and after doing that I had the soldering iron on the two ground points and that is it, no reflow required, even now travelling with me to more than 5 countries, no issues :)
@@raphael286hey bro I’ve done a few oleds and honestly it appears to be that I’ve had some issues with inconsistent boots (flashing red) from the looks of it it’s the c point, I usually solder the 2 ground points where the emmc shield latches and the right side capacitor/resister? The one that’s more spaced apart, so you only solder the 2 grounds point and leave it at that? TIA!
legend. thanks for posting. nintendo may cry themselves to sleep but we all happy
Hope to see your Picofly installation
That’s my switch! Thanks so much Tvpartsworld everything works perfect.
Very friendly and great communication from beginning to end, would definitely recommend utilising this top fellas skill set if you ever have the need 👍🏾
Hi mate. Looking to get the same thing done. What did you need to setup on the sd card before you gave it to him. And how did you do it before the switch had the modchip installed. Did you use the same sd card from a v1?
@@MrPCEnthusiast I bought a sandisk ultra and just left it inserted it into the switch.
He needs the sd card for hekate and atmosphere files once the mod chip is installed.
Don’t buy anything other than a sandisk ultra or a Samsung evo as they have ideal read write speeds for the switch, anythin less and you might run into problems... a sd card that runs at faster speeds is a waste of money as the switch can only read speeds of up 100mbs
Hope all goes well 👍🏾
@@Essjaythegreat That's great, so he installs atmosphere for you, the sd card was just as it came.
Yes I've heard that about the speeds, I'm going to go with the ultra over the extreme in that case.
Thanks for the reply 👊
How much did you pay for the solder work ?
did you send with a chip or did Tvpartsworld use their own?
Very nice work! What sort of microscope do you use for this kind of soldering? Would really like to look into getting one myself.
Very nice work, brilliant mind,I wish you were in my country to mod my oled
What's the best chip to solder into an OLED for CFW?
What would be the difference between the instinct chip and the others?
Congratulations on the video, it teaches you step by step how to install the chip
Great video! Do you have a video on picofly for v2 or hwfly core v5 on v2?
I've got to ask, with this being a newer video from your other OLED install, why did you reflow it vs doing a friction install? I thought that friction was the recommended way now
Hello! great video and nice work installing this one. I was wondering if you could install the picofly if I sent that in with the OLED console. Do you offer that service? Thanks.
Hello, I got a switch OLED and i dont understand anything about unlock. Whats the best hwfly, picofly or instinct?
as someone who installed the hwfly into an oled switch, this process is not for the faint of heart. it is soo easy to totally destroy the switch. though i will say you did a very poor job trimming that shield, in fact with some vibration i suspect the sharp edges you left will cut through the ribbon cable. Need to get some better diagonal cutter and file down those cut edges. Also at least for the hwfly you can solder extra connections to update it through the switche's usb port and i guess you either didn't do it or that chip doesn't come with that option. Also you don't need to re-flow the mmc it just introduced a risk you break something even more. Not sure it'll work with that adapter but you can put them under spring tension for just as good of a connection.
Do you do repairs?
I’ve got two Switches but one is knackered due to the left joycon rail connection burning itself out (had literal orange glow and small amount of smoke) and no long works since I’ve reformatted it as the switch expects the joycons installed at first boot up.
My other switch which is my replacement switch works fine but the joycons don’t work when slid into the rails (the switch detects it and charges them but I believe the left rail is dodgy)
Is the protective film for the entire card no longer attached once the chip is installed?
Can you tell me the brand and model of the microscope that you use? Thanks.
Hey man love your vids Im in the us You do awesome for your customers ,I try do do the same for mine.Love you!!
Hello, my clk value after scraping is approx 1500 and it seems very high to me for the almost 700 shown on your multimeter...I scraped very gently but enough to see the copper layer and put enough paste solder to create a solid ball on the pad. Any idea why my value is so high and any recommendations? the switch works thanks for the tutorial
Oh Nintendo wouldn't like any of this lol
They actually just hit him with a $38 million dollar lawsuit
Rumors are that all of his RUclips revenue for the next ten years goes to the Big N. Or he could just give them the $15 now.
@Seth Seagle stop underexaggerating, it's 385 million.
@@sethofthedead people can do with THEIR hardware whatever the hell they want, in the end they have absolutely no say in that.

Interesting video. Switch OLED
For that heating part at 7:50 can i just use a Hair dryer? And use this part even necessary.
Dear @Tvpartworld those copper wire you used are for fixing damaged traces on the board not to be confused with normal copper wires that I would say 0.5 BTW love your videos keep up with the good work let me hear what are your thoughts let me hear it in one of your videos Sincerly Just A Guy Who Loves To Help The Community As They Helped Me Out Thank You For Your Precious Time And Efforts
Can you make a tutorial how to repaste modded oled ? Since the chip is located above the metal shield between the soc and heatsink. Idk how to safely repaste it.
I know this is a late reply, but my D point / CLK reads 1070 and it works perfectly. I tried it because I knew it wasn't grounded at all and it boots fine/all the homebrew functions work. What could cause this variance?
That copper wire you're using, I assume it has a thin layer of insulation? Does that melt away when you solder it to a point like you do? I figure it must have some insulation considering the wires are all crossing & touching each other.
Yes this is typically called magnet wire and it has a thin coating of insulation that melts off as it's soldered. It's the same stuff that's used for the windings on electric motors.
I did hear that reflowing the dat0 adapter did result in a higher failure rate. Have you found something that says otherwise? I have a chip and I'm fairly sure I can do this but I want to make sure I'm doing everything right
you dont' need to re-flow it (as you stated it introduces another failure point) but then you do need to give it a bit of spring tension so it keeps connection with the pin
Where can I get this modchip and do they make one for the switch lite???
dude has some serious balls
Hello, I have two questions, why don't you use the other flexible cable?
And what is the heat for soldering?
I can't speak for him but I usually use 600f to solder and 700f to desolder. You don't use the flex cables because it can cause interference with sysnand which is the official one. Though the newer ones are finding ways to use flex cables while not interfering. Lastly I wanna mention that they also are starting to not recommend reflowing the dat0 adapter. Apparently the chip can be damaged a bit after heating up, even if going slowly which has a higher failure rate than using friction
What size of wire do I need for this? As I don’t think it comes with the mod kit. Thanks
Anyone got better tips or any in general to have a consistent boot, getting long purple flash and then red so C point? I just use friction method can’t seem to get consistent boots after a few weeks
Impressive
what brad UV glue do you recommend, the market is flooded with junk ones
Perfection!
Did you put solder on the emmc Adapter?
I have the hwfly for lite, when i install firmaré uf2 by Usb C, the window closed and then in the rp2040 one light blue blinked on the Led, after that green color flash two times continous, it turned off and returned to flash green color for two times more. It is normal?
awsome job :)
Im having trouble with point B, it's showing readings but after 2 seconds it goes back to OL, my chip is not booting and I'm guessing this is the problem. Any suggestions?
yeah I see what you mean with product quality, the solder mask/ looks almost like its done at home Wonder why they didn't just order premade PCB's or ones with all components preassembled? least think it loosk like maybe its done with a stencil
Hi, is there any other D point on mainboard?
i have a question if in point 3.3 did get my .940 is it ok ? thank you.

How much does it cost? Because I've seen it for 12 bucks on aliexpress and I'm not sure.

You don’t have to solder ground do you? The flex has it
How much would it be for a switch oled to be mod chipped by you, I live near the area
Hi, when trying to solder on the CPU ribbon to the left capacitor, I knocked it off and lost it. (CPU oriented with the capacitors "below" it). I'm pretty sure it disintegrated. Do you possibly know it's value? Thank you!

I'm not getting any reading from the B point, ive resoldered it multiple times but no luck. All other points are giving the appropriate reading except B point? any thoughts?
I fixed the issue through some back tracking, It's just as you said in the video it something with the diodes on the processor. But I still double checked to ensure no bridges was anywhere else. Thank you your vid is very helpful.
is this the same mechanism by which xbox 360s are RGHed?
Thank you for this clear explanation. I will try to make it myself. But which wire do you use exactly?
Most people use very tiny insulated wires known as "magnet wire". The insulation melts off at high heat so it makes a fine connection when soldered.
You have already installed picofly?
what microscope camera you using?
What UV light do you use?
Om dioid mode it's reading 0.470 is that normal on all point ?
And it's not working with mine
Amazing
11:29 what is this set to? how do i test the point? what is it?
Are those copper wires insulated? I don't see you scraping off any insulation, so I presume it melts away when soldering?
Ye, I think they're enamel wires so it most likely just melts away with the solder iron
what type microscope u use
hello i have a switch oled can you mod it for me to be able to install homebrew on it ?
Is it possible to install this modchip in a Nintendo switch lite?
soldering skills level 999999999999
great tutorial. After install on my oled I lost touch capability of the screen. Screen works otherwise as well as mod, but screen doesn't respond to touch.... Any info on this would be appreciated
Did you install correctly? How sure are you?
Open it up and make sure all of the connectors are actually connected. Sounds like the connector for the touch screen isn't connected fully
where can i buy a HWFLY chip for my OLED switch
I bet those points were grounding because you melted the insulation near the metal shielding & it's touching the shielding & grounding on it.
Are you in the us ?. Or do you take customers from the US . I wold love to have this installed on my Oled .
Does it work with a patched normal switch?
Does anyone know of a US online company, that would solder these chips on an OLED switch? I want to get one but, i'm not the greatest at micro soldering.
What do you charge for doing this modification?
could be wrong but isnt apu just a branding thing amd does? i think its called soc or system on chip?
no, it means a very specific thing. soc is system on chip which includes everything from the cpu, io functions, ram, etc... in other words you dont' need any other supporting chips for a system to work it can do everything it needs by itself. in amd's case apu is for cpu+gpu (notice how it's missing the RAM?) Granted has cpus with integrated graphics so in comparison you could call amd's apus a marketing term but the reason they call them that is because the graphics on apu's is way way better than typical integrated graphics but they aren't SOCs like what's inside the switch or phones.
I wish i could find people to install mine here in the US.
Same for UK, there must be services local to install the modchip for the oled, wouldn't have a clue on how to do it myself
Where are you located

If i ever will have a issue with them i will let u now guys.- im sceptic blowing 400 grads to it.

also did you used the flex cables or solder directly the points from modchip board?
Right, you dont need to reflow.
It's funny because I was looking at the white PCB printing job and the gaps around all the SMD components and I thought to myself it looks a bit cheap. Like the layers weren't lined up properly or something. Then he started to have shorts because of the poor build quality of the chip and it started to make sense. I'll stick with Picofly
Question: can i send in a switch and pay for an extra fee for a mod chip installation?
yes, tons of places offer that service. you just want to go with someone good because there is high risk they will break the switch.
