      The Angel GT dual compound region is narrow confined to a 2.5" band on the rear and 1.25" in the front. This compares to other GT tires like the Pilot Road 4 which 1/2 the tire is the harder compound. What does this mean? Pirelli have come up with a formula that you only really need the harder compound right in the center therefore when you lean even a little you're already into a softer compound. Can't argue with the tread life numbers on the Angel GT so I guess Pirelli are right. Just keep those air pressures up. I run 37psi front 42psi rear. The Rosso are more of a track tire and if you're primarily a street rider is simply overkill for grip when/if you get them to the proper temperature range and more expensive because they don't last nearly as long. Keep us posted on your experience with these tires! Don't forget to like and subscribe if you haven't already done so. :-)

      yeah, my bike's OE was the rosso 2, but then I started to commute more instead of just hooligan time xD so that was why I started to debate switching to the angels

      I seriously doubt you'll see much difference. Frankly my bike performs better on the GT than it did on Q3 which I never got more than 3500 or so miles on. The extra mileage is a welcomed bonus.

    Based on our review, I purchased a set for my L6 GSXR750 and have to agree that they are so much better then the OEM Bridgestone Battleaxe 16 ( got 8000km out of them).

      I have never heard anyone say anything bad about these tires. So many people throwing money away on track centric tires when they don't come anywhere near realizing the performance limits. This tire easily is 95% of the most popular track centric street tires performance wise, does better in the rain and lasts 2.5 times longer.

    Interesting how you said that these tyres stayed a good tyre from start to finish and didn't degrade or fall off badly as they got worn. I find that's true of all pirellis I've ever used, unlike my other favourite tyre bridgestone which I find they really let you know when the tyre is getting done. It can be a catch 22 as the last big tour I did my pirelli burned through to the cords about 100 miles from home on the way back fortunately. But since it had no tread pattern on the middle anyway and it was still super grippy I couldn't tell just how worn it was.

    If you’re a commuter and do lot of long distance rides then this is the tire for you. But set your PSI a little lower from the Recommended pressure so you get more contact patch from the tire. ( if you are a light weight rider) .They do take a little long to warm up but they are great tires. I had kine for 2 seasons now and they look brand new still. I had the rosso 2s even tho they stuck to the road like gum they barely last 1 season.

    I got 10,000 km out of the front only because the camber of the road wore out one side quicker then the other side of the tyre. The rear still has a few more thousand km to go. My only grip is that on the GSXR 750 with firmer suspension, I had to run 34F and 36R and the harder carcass gives some jittering feedback through the rear on bumby roads but it is a sports bike so understandable. The grip has been very good and consistent. Pirelli have now come out with a GT2 which is suppose to be a better tyre. Have you tried the road 5'S?

    Great review, Hi , which tires are best puncher resistance? Which is better for crappy roads and bit of slush and rain infested broken roads?, so how is angle GT given my requirements. I am looking forward to your answer and appreciate as it very important to me. I have a 400cc street nacked bike.

    • @MonacoGP_On_YouTube
      @MonacoGP_On_YouTube  6 лет назад

      I've had no puncture issues on this tire for now 15,000 miles (1/2 way through my second set). The biggest market share holder Dunlop Q3+ which some of my riding mates run on cannot say the same. So the direct answer is the Angel GT seems to avoid punctures better than others however as you know motorcycle tires are very thin. Rain performance is great but probably not as good as a dedicated rain tire but then again you wouldn't want to run a rain dedicated tire on a daily basis. I have no issues at very high speeds even in significant downpours. I was caught out once with a pillion rider and we did well over the speed limit in a punishing rain for quite a long distance. Slush would be a different story as would gravel on broken roads. For that your going to require some kind of block tread which is no longer a road tire and you'll have the issues concerning fender clearance with those as well. You may need to look at something like Nikki Misurelli runs on her sport bike that she does touring on. ruclips.net/user/nikkimisurelli I hope that helps. Please like and subscribe :-)

  • @anderscarlsson3607
    @anderscarlsson3607 6 лет назад +1

    How is that mileage possible? My tires are almost worn out after 4500 miles (7000 km), both front and rear. Don´t get me wrong, I love the Angel GT and will be fitting the same ones again, but my tirewear is nowhere near the mileage you get.
    I drive pretty inspired and have been on a couple of trackdays but also done a longer trip (just under 2000 miles, 3000 km) to Germany from Sweden.
    But they are toast now, maybe I can get another 700 miles out of them but that will be stretching it a bit to far i think.
    What is possitive is that i don´t feel a big change in grip, although they are petty worn out. Maybe in wet weather, but i try to avoid that kind of weather anyhow. And they are still round and nice, no flatspots but an even wear all arond the tire.
    The Angel GT is a really good sportstouring tire, good for trackdays and good for vacation runs.
    Maybe Pilot road 5 is as good as Angel GT, i don´t know, haven´t trid them. And i won´t know during the first part of this season at least because i am not going to change brand for now.

    • @MonacoGP_On_YouTube
      @MonacoGP_On_YouTube  6 лет назад

      Tire pressure. If you want the longer miles you need to run higher pressure. I run 35/6 psi front and 42psi rear. Also a track day is a whole other story. I haven't run any track days on motorcycles, however my track experience in cars is extensive all the way to pro racing GT cars. That said, I could cook a set of tires and brakes in 1.5hrs. Completely gone. Any time you talk track all bets are off.

      @anderscarlsson3607 6 лет назад +1

      Thanks Monaco GP.
      I have around the same tire pressure on road, but drops it a bit for the trackdays. And i never commute, or go by motorways if i can avoid it.I guess that can be a part of the equation, but im still impressed of the mileage you got out of them.

    Great input. I have to find a 160/60R 18inch for a Fat Boy front tire and have been looking around and came across these.
    Seems like this is the tire I need for front end. They seem to do so well.
    10K miles on a sportbike seems like a damn good tire to invest into.
    Shame they don't seem to make a 240/40 18inch. Would love a full set with this kind of durability.
    How much weight do you think you were pulling total 2 up and cruising?

    • @MonacoGP_On_YouTube
      @MonacoGP_On_YouTube  6 лет назад

      In gear I weigh about 200# and the backpack was around 135#. The bike weighs around 400#. You want to watch mixing tires if you ride in the wet. Many times how the front tire handles water is integral to how the back tire performs. Not sure on sizing for your bike but these Angel GT's do come in an "A" spec version with stiffer sidewalls for heavier bikes.

    • @FranBunnyFFXII
      @FranBunnyFFXII 6 лет назад +1

      Alright. Doesn't seem too far off from the expected weight rating for the tires.

    • @FranBunnyFFXII
      @FranBunnyFFXII 6 лет назад +1

      My problem is getting them in the right size. I need 18inch 160/60 tire for the front. I'm not sure there's an A Spec version of the 160/60ZR 18inch.
      I think because these tires are sport touring spec, and this is a rear tire there wouldn't be any issues with it on a front end of a middleweight cruiser. Touring bikes are expected to be heavy.
      I can always call harley about tires and see what fits and is strong enough.

    • @MonacoGP_On_YouTube
      @MonacoGP_On_YouTube  6 лет назад

      Front tread pattern is different than the rear on the Angel GT. As I said earlier the front's are designed to channel water in conjunction with the rear. So, not sure how I'd feel about putting a tire designed for the rear on the front. I looked around and your options are pretty limited. Metzeler?

    Hi there. I hope you're still responding to comments. I've been doing my research with these tires but I'm sort of on the fence. (BTW, did you make a review on Revzilla? Lol I think I remember seeing that same 10,378 mileage on there as well) Anywho, I'm worried about these tires because when I search for them, I see people do comparisons between the Angel GT tires & Pilot Road 4s. I HATE the PR4s. They were sliding all around on me. I'm not a track rider nor do I push myself on the streets. So I want to know how aggressive do you ride for you to like the Angel GT tires so much? Every now & then I like to "get it" on the highway on ramps but that's about it. I don't want to second guess myself while cornering. What do you think?

    • @MonacoGP_On_YouTube
      @MonacoGP_On_YouTube  6 лет назад +2

      I did post this review to Revzilla. LOL Now to answer your question; The Pilot road 4's are also dual compound but the harder rubber constitutes over half of the make up of the tire while on the Angel GT it's more of a riding ridge 2.75" wide on the centerline of the tire. What this means is the Pirelli gets into softer compound almost immediately when you lean off center. Also the Angel GT doesn't have nearly as many squirm creating sipes as the Pilot 4 a design element Michelin has largely copied on the Pilot 5. The only times I feel any squirm in the tire is over those tar strips they use to seal cracks. Hope that helps. Subscribe and like. Thank You!

      Thank you raztechstudios. They really are an excellent tire for anything but all out track days. The harder dual compound strip is narrower in the center than other manufacturers. This means you get into softer rubber in leans more quickly. People cooking through full on track orientated tires like Q3's and Pirelli Diablo's for street riding are wasting $. I've put a lot of people onto these tires and all are happy they made the choice.

    • @raztechstudios
      @raztechstudios 7 лет назад

      Monaco GP those have a dual compound rubber on the rear tire only and not the front so you think it worth getting tires with dual compound front and rear. Or are those good enough. Just curious.

    • @MonacoGP_On_YouTube
      @MonacoGP_On_YouTube  7 лет назад +1

      They are dual compound in the front also. You can see the different compounds once they scrub in a little. These Angel GT's have very narrow dual compound strips compared to other manufacturers. That is what makes them adhere better than the others. As soon as you lean you're on the softer compound. Other manufacturers can have the harder compound covering half or more of the total surface. To answer your question; The front wore in line with the rear having perhaps 10-15% left when the rea wore out. Thank you for the question / comment.

      The GT2 isn't going to give appreciably greater kms. What bike are you on, how much do you weigh and what pressures do you run? The reason I ask is that there is an A Spec version of this tire if you're on a heavy bike. This will prevent sidewall flattening in heavier weight applications. Also it's imperative that you run 34-36 front and 42 rear with these or you won't get the distance because the tire, like any other run at too low a pressure, will flatten out and you won't be riding on the high mileage strip in the center of the tire anymore. If you only get 3600km out of these I'd hate to see your tire bill if running something else and only getting 1K.

The difference is in the sidewalls. That tire may or may not be in production anymore. You'll have to check. If it's not then get the A Spec. The regular tire is going to flex way to much for that heavy bike that has so much of it's weight on the rear tire.

      I haven't run the GT2's. I contacted Pirelli for a pair based on the 90,000 views I have across 3 videos for the GT's and the cheap bastards declined. The difference is reported to be water channeling to maximize ABS but your guess is as good as mine. As far as wobble is concerned, I doubt seriously the issue is with a tire manufactured by Pirelli. My experience with any other Pirelli I've run is that if you take care to line the red dot on the sidewall up with the valve stem you need very few, sometimes no weights to balance. I suspect people don't know about that dot. Sorry I can't give you definitive, first person knowledge on the GT2. Thank you for watching.

      Not the Rosso 2 but the Rosso 3. Interestingly the lateral grip isn't much better on the Rosso 3. The high wear strip on the GT is quite narrow compared to others so you get into softer rubber quite quickly when leaning. The Rosso 3 is good for just over 1/2 the miles of the GT and the GT is much better in water. The Rosso 3 is considerably lighter so the bike accelerates a bit better with the Rosso 3.

    • @MonacoGP_On_YouTube
      @MonacoGP_On_YouTube  7 лет назад +1

      Strange. In the US a set of the Pilot Road 4 is +/- $60US more than the Angel GT. The last set of Angel GT I purchased through Revzilla with a price match from another online source. I purchased a 120/70/17 front and a 190/55/17 rear delivered for just under $300US and filed for the Pirelli rebate and received a $40 gift card. The Pilot Road 4 is an excellent tire and a couple of my friends use then to great success. I believe the Angel GT is better because the dual compound region is much narrower confined to a 2.5" band on the rear and 1.25" in the front. This compares to the Pilot Road 4 which 1/2 the tire is the harder compound. What does this mean? Pirelli have come up with a formula that you only really need the harder compound right in the center therefor when you lean even a little you're already into a softer compound. Can't argue with the tread life numbers on the Angel GT so I guess Pirelli are right. Just keep those air pressures up. I run 37psi front 42psi rear. Don't forget to like and subscribe if you haven't already done so. :-)
