    Last season my tires wore like urs dis, flat in the middle. Then I changed my tires to pilot power and pilot power 3. And they ware out on the top and left side. While the right side looks new. I sold my bike and got a 04 r1. And they still do it on this bike. I don't understand why when I first got a bike they wore in the middle like norm. But now on my 3rd bike and they ware on the left side. Why is that you think. Oh and just to let people know I run through a pilot power in a month. By the end of the month the tire is slick. Help please.

    • @MonacoGP_On_YouTube
      @MonacoGP_On_YouTube  6 лет назад

      You don't have your wheel properly aligned. Where I live all the roads are straight. That, and the fact I have a second rider sometimes is why I get wear in the center. One twisty day takes care of that though and rounds the tire right up. If you watch the 10,000 mile final review of of these tires they is very little flat spot because I had been on a twisty ride.

  • @razorbak6783

    I have tried a lot of different tires and my max is 4,000 miles out of a Bridgestone S22 (rear) but my Suzuki GSX S1000 eats tires and when I ride it is aggressively. So I guess between my riding style and the bikes torque that's all I should expect out of a rear tire. I may try a set of these next.

    • @MonacoGP_On_YouTube
      @MonacoGP_On_YouTube  3 года назад

      Just be sure you run these or any other multi-compound tire at the manufacturer's reccomend tire pressure in order to get the mileage. If you run these at 34psi in the rear they wint last either.

    Do you think the Angel GT would be a wise choice for the occasional track day (At most once or twice a year)?? I'm in need of new tires this year and am also looking to do my first Track Day as well. I've been running with the Michelin Pilot Road 2 and Road 3 for the past few years. I loved the PR2's, the PR3's not so much and I don't think I'd run with them on the track.
    I mainly just commute/weekend ride, thus the reason I'm not looking for something like the Q3's. I need something that will last longer than they will.

    • @MonacoGP_On_YouTube
      @MonacoGP_On_YouTube  7 лет назад

      I have seen them used for track. The main issue for track is that the rain grooves will tend to fill up with rubber from the track surface. The compound of this tire will work well but you may have to do some cleaning as you would with any non race specific tire.

      Soooooo not a racer.... I did a taste of racing with the Ninja 650, I probably had 7K miles on when I then spent 20 minutes around the track. I'm a chicken, but I know it was certainly not the tires holding me back. But I stayed ~70-100mph at Portland International, I was the slowest on the track by far.

      Chris Evans it depends on your pace. If you’re in beginner/C group, you’ll be fine. If you’re in intermediate/B group, you’re going to want to run a tire than can handle more heat, especially if the track surface is already hot.

    • @MonacoGP_On_YouTube
      @MonacoGP_On_YouTube  7 лет назад +1

      What kind of longevity are you getting out of the Q3's? All I can say is I'm really impressed with this Pirelli tire. If you watch my initial 3500 mile review ruclips.net/video/_6IFmkXKBt4/видео.html I cover that I feel these corner as well as the Q3's on my setup. Also, my experience with Q3's is towards the end of their wear the performance really fell off. The compound on the Q3 gets very hard after many heat cycles and the flat area in the center becomes very pronounced which causes unsettling transition when turning in. In all I get over 100% more life out of the Pirelli Angel GT with superior wet performance and no noticeable difference in lateral adhesion. Unless you're a track guy these are the way to go.

    • @JMSpeedy
      @JMSpeedy 7 лет назад +1

      Monaco GP honestly out of the Q3 I was able to get at least a little over 4K miles before wires. Honestly I just put some new Q3s performance when brand new and heating up are great and sticky. I never paid attention to how well it'll last or change in grip? So I will watch out for those. I will be replacing the Q3s with angel gts soon after I finish my front and rear(: I definitely want to see what the Angel GTS have to offer. Thank you so much!

    • @MonacoGP_On_YouTube
      @MonacoGP_On_YouTube  7 лет назад +1

      My experience on Q3's is on cold mornings, 40 degrees, they were pretty slick until some heat got in them, which did come quickly (couple of miles). The GT's are better cold but take a little longer to heat all the way up. Warmer days, above 60 degrees, no problems with either. If you get 4K out of Q3's you'll get 8.5 out of the GT's. Why do you drive your bike when you're just going straight? On the sides is still full profile on it!

    • @MonacoGP_On_YouTube
      @MonacoGP_On_YouTube  7 лет назад +4

      Simple answer. The roads around me are straight.We have to travel long distances to get to twisty roads. If you look at the tires there is less than a 1/8" strip on either side of the tire. For city streets and the surface issues involved with them this is leaving a margin for error and intelligent riding as opposed to being being a total idiot. I do wish there were more twisty roads near by. We do make trips to twisty roads but those are special designated rides due to the distances involved and to get to them we have long flat roads in between. Watch the 10,000 mile final review and see that the tire is nicely rounded which only happens if you do ride twisty roads. Thank you for your comment. ruclips.net/video/QwEhsXPjBaY/видео.html

    • @CVSiN

      Because here in Texas Bikes can also use the HOV lanes and cut huge amounts of time off a commute as well. I commute on an R1 (even though I own 2 cars as well) and then ride long distances to blast it on the weekends as like Monaco the nearest curvy roads are 2 hours away.. and the REALLY nice roads are 4+ hours away. Commute in the car same trip is almost 2 hours of dead stop traffic.. on the R1 its 35 mins. So yeah Angel GT's are awesome for that.

    I get ~2,800 miles out of a rear. Slightly more out of a front on my Concours 14. The sides actually wear out before the center. I have no idea how you're getting 8K miles out of a set.

    • @MonacoGP_On_YouTube
      @MonacoGP_On_YouTube  5 лет назад +2

      For starters your bike is >270# heavier than a liter bike. Are you running pressure so low that the center of the tire is cupping? You should be using the A-spec version designed for heavier bikes as well. If I have a pillion rider my wear increases significantly. In fact this video was shot right after a long highway run on a very hot day with a pillion rider. You can see the flat spotting that caused in the center of the tire. The later 10K plus mile final review, the tire is much more rounded. I can only imagine the tire torture of your much heavier bike plus a pillion rider plus gear in those side bags. You're going to need a car tire to get any mileage.

      @@MonacoGP_On_RUclips I run 41-42psi each (manual calls for 42psi each). I almost never ride two-up. No cupping. The wear looks correct for street. I've tried Battleax BT-023 and Metzeler Roadsmart 01 for longer mileage tires but have had poor results. You may have sold me on the Angel GT's. I hear that the Dunlop Roadsmart 3's are high mileage tires. They look like a cross between the GT's and the PR 4's and I've heard that they ride like them too. I'm not going to buy them cause they're about 3 lbs. heavier than the GT's. Which is a lot for a tire. The GT's at 14.1 lbs. were praised for being a light tire but the Conti Road Attack 3's are even lighter at 13.8 lbs.! I want to try the RA 3's but don't know if they'll get the same mileage as the GT's. I will never buy another dual front compound tire like the PR 4's and I've heard they break traction under hard acceleration. So, no PR 4's for me. I have a good front BT-023 tire but a worn rear. I'm going to buy a T30 Evo to finish off my front then I'll either try the GT's or the RA 3's. The GT's are an old tire design aren't they? You'd think that older means worse? So, I'm kind of leery about the GT's. This season I'll try both and compare the GT's vs. the RA 3's and give my review. Any thoughts?

    • @MonacoGP_On_YouTube
      @MonacoGP_On_YouTube  6 лет назад +1

      The new Michelin Road 5 (successor to the PR4) has been redesigned to be a LOT more like the Angel GT. Wider grooves and a narrower, but not as narrow as the Angel GT, dual compound strip. That's why I like the Angel GT, the dual strip is only as wide as it needs to be then you're into the softer compound. So, take a look at the build of the new Michelin and if the Angel GT is an old design why is the closest competition in the space designing their newest tire to be more like it?

    • @ericmcclurg4541
      @ericmcclurg4541 6 лет назад

      Ahhh! We need another shoot-out! This time with the Dunlop RS 3's, the Conti RA 3's and the Battleax T31's included. We all know that the PR 4's and 5's get the best mileage and the GT's get great mileage as well, but how do the other models that I mentioned compare? I know that the T30 EVO gets worse mileage than the GT's and it's been replaced. So, it's out. The Metzeler Roadtec 01 is a rain tire exclusively that gets decent mileage, not great. I don't really need a rain tire cause I never ride in the rain. We need Ryan Fortnine or Motorcyle Magazine to do a real shoot out for 2018!

      The video covers both front and rear so I'm not sure what you're asking. I buy tires two at a time. It's never good to mix tires because of balance / grip issues and water evacuation for the rear may be dependent on how the front channels it first. The fronts on these Angel GTs wear at a similar rate to the rear so I replace both at the same time.

Man, you must drive like a baby or have roads ma de of plate glass, cause I've never seen a tire that pristine. You should see my tires after 1000 miles. They look like somebody shot them out of a cannon or were attacked by a mob of hungry mice. Not even my front tire is that clean! How did you do that?

      What tire pressures do you run? If you don't run the factory recommended pressures no tire will last. Too many riders run in the mid to low 30's then wonder why their tire shreds. Lower pressure feels more comfortable because the tire doesn't respond as quickly to inputs. Learn to ride at the right pressure. Scrapes and gouges? How are you getting those? Potholes? Everyone running these tires is getting similar mileage. I would get 3200ish miles out of a set of Q3's with the rear corded and the front about 30% left. Roads are straight in my region like most of the US so getting significant edge wear isn't happening with a fully inflated tire. If you follow the link to the final 10,000 mile review you can see the rear has not flat spotted and there are no chicken strips. Run higher pressure, I run mine 35 in front (that's 2psi lower that I state in the video) and 42 rear. I also don't hit curbs, potholes or road debris to cause gouges or scrapes. Bad or improperly adjusted dampeners can also cause freaky tire wear. The roads in my are aren't good, frankly probably some of the worst in the country here in the rust belt, but I pay attention. I ride with several large groups and also run a group so I'm in contact with a lot of riders. The vast majority run either this tire or the Michelin Pilot. We all got smart and decided wasting $ on track day oriented tires that are molded with less rubber was stupid. The only ones that have any issues with gouging are running other tires or inner city stunters.ruclips.net/video/QwEhsXPjBaY/видео.html

      I run the recommended tire pressures. 36/42. My rear tires wear in the middle but I have a more rounded tire than yours when they're at their limits. I own a Z900 naked. It's more lower geared than your bike. I run a 15 tooth front sprocket and a 44 tooth rear sprocket, factory standard. And I drive very aggressively most of the time. You probably run a 16 tooth front with a 43 to 41 rear sprocket. I'm switching to a 16 tooth front sprocket for higher speeds at lower rpm's and less torque to save on tire wear. However, I don't think that either of these are the issue. I think you have better road surfaces than I do. I live in the Ozark Mtns. of Arkansas (hilly and curvy roads) and I think I recently found out why I get such poor tire wear. Not because of the hills and curves but because Arkansas is one of the cheapest ass states I've lived in other than California when it comes to highways. Here, first of all, I am a construction inspector and I know they don't build highways like they're supposed to and they also use red clay as a sub base which swells when it gets wet which causes the asphalt to crack and rut and pump. To fix the cracks and ruts, instead of resurfacing the asphalt they chip seal it because it's cheaper. I read that they're supposed to remove the excess pea gravel after a couple of days so people don't get busted windshields and nicks in they're paint but, here they don't remove it and instead just leave it on the road and it gives rougher surface than a normal chip seal road. Chip seal is bad to begin with on tires but to make it even more rough is ridiculous and is brutal on tires. Especially, motorcycle tires. One thing that I couldn't understand is that they took a brand new paved highway and chip sealed it. It was Hwy. 16 which is one of the best curvy roads in Arkansas too. I liked it very much because they put a nice brand new asphalt surface on it in July and in August they chip sealed it without removing the very loose gravel. I was so pissed! I met another biker on the highway and neither of us could go over 35 mph! And that's not the worst thing. The worst thing was that cars were passing us doing 55-65 mph throwing gravel and hitting us. I had to drive about 60 miles doing less than 35 mph. I hate Arkansas!

      Also, another reason why they chip seal roads, even brand new roads, is because it provide better traction in inclement weather such as snow, ice and rain so the highway departments spend less on clearing the roads after an ice storm or snow fall. In my opinion, it's cheap, cheap, cheap. Which is a shame because Arkansas gets a lot of revenue from motorcycle riders and motorcycle events such as Bikes, Blues and Bar B Que. It's the second largest motorcycle rally in the U.S. I didn't go this year but I will next year. There are so many motorcycle routes in Arkansas that bikers love to ride but unfortunately, they're all paved with cheap-seal. I've read that many locals in other states protest when the state or county wants to pave their local roads using cheap seal, but most eventually get paved anyway despite their objections because it's cheaper than repaving. Well, I got two words for that in my book for whoever decides to use cheap-seal: "Fuck You"! You want to pay for my tires? Well, then go ahead. But me, I get tired of buying a new set every other month! So, which is cheaper? It definitely ain't cheaper for me.

      Also, if you're gonna resurface using cheap seal then do it right and remove the loose gravel after a day or two and don't just leave it on the roadway! You're already doing a cheap fix don't fuck it up by doing the cheap fix cheaply!

      Yeah I live on a chip seal road. You're right about they could sweep up the loose stuff after a few days. Every few years it's a pain in the ass. Luckily I'm only 1000' from a state route that they keep well paved. And yes your bike is torqueing more than mine due to the gear ratio.
