Why put a road only tire on an adventure bike? 🙋🏼‍♀️ I'll answer that!
From the looks of most ADV bikes I see out in the road, you can tell that a pretty good percentage never leave the pavement. I purchased a 2021 Tenere 750 for a road trip through Central and South America, but due to the pandemic I am delaying my trip about two years, give or take a few months. Meanwhile my T7 is being used as a commuter bike with 97% of the time being on pavement. And about 85% of that on freeways. For the time being I do not need a 50/50/ 70/30, or even a 80/20 tire. Specially with winter coming and I will be riding my bike rain or shine. I am looking for the best cold weather and rain tires I can find for Rosie (my bike - yes I name my bikes). It seems that everyone everywhere who do videos or ride reviews about ADV bike tires assume that everyone who has an ADV have one because they want to do off roading as well. Some people buy a bike, such as a 1250GS for the look and let's face it, even though it is an ADV bike it makes for a great road touring bike as well.
I guess that my search for the best rain tires for my ADV will continue. There are some amazing tires such as the Pilot 4 tires, but they don't make them in si es that will fit mine bike. Someone should make a review and test of this class of tires.

I love the Heidenau Scouts. Ran the back for 12,000 miles, and the front for 17,000 miles (and still going). Great 80-20 tire with a continuous bead on the rear so you don get shaken to death on the pavement. They also have run flat capability, so much to the point that I barely noticed it when I picked up a puncture.. Ran them through North, Central and South America and was very happy with their versatility. Pretty much everyone I ran into that had a BMW 1200 GS were running these tires.

Excellent review. Full of good info. I use the Pilot Road 4 GT because I want the mileage and I don't want to trade off any grip in the wet. After running this tyre on the rear, I just put a Pilot road 4 GT also on the front this week....lets see. I've used pilot road 3 and 2 in the past and I've even tried the Avon Storm and the bridgestone BT020s. I feel more confident on the Michellins.

Yet another informative vid from FortNine. I have a newly purchased FJR arriving soon which I’ll probably spoon on a set of Pilot Road 4’s. Lots of positive reviews on that tire. Currently I have Roadsmarts on my ZRX12 but I can attest to the Battlax BT series in the wet as I rode about 25 miles to a friends house in a pouring monsoon on a set. Crossing two bridges! Never gave me a reason to doubt them. Kinda ironic a MC tire company would call its system EMS. In my neck of the woods that’s Emergency Medical Services. As a multi bike owner I’ll probably stick with the Dunlop Qualifiers on my Blackbird. Outstanding dry weather grip and in inclement weather it’ll prolly be the FJR on the road anyway. Thanks again for a well done review.

I'd have the Angel GT for a year now. Overall a great tire. I primary use my FZ6 for daily commuting rain or shine, but I do like to get somewhat aggressive in the corners on a dry day. The tire has performed great and I would buy it again. However, I did see a lot more center wear. Since 90% of my riding is on the center, fully upright, I did expect this a bit, just not so quickly.

My previous tires on my Honda Pan European were Road Pilot 3s. Very good and got about 27,000ks from them. Recently replaced them with a pair of Road Pilot 4 GTs. The heavier side walls of the GT version make a big difference to the handling on such a heavy bike. I highly recommend them and cheaper than the Continental and Metzler equivalent.
Good video; not the usual US rubbish.

I had a Metzeler Z8 and loved it but while I get to within a few mm of the edge I do a bit of straight line running as well. I had just legal tread as close as tread the tread goes to the middle and the steel just started to show, very scary.

well ive got the pilot road 4 and are highly impressed. it has better ride comfort and feels like a magnet sticking to road in rain / heavy rain. i ride a aprilia shiver 750 and this is my second rear tyre being another pilot 4 as the 1st one easily gave me 9562kms. I was not gentle on 1st tyre speeding round everywhere. Now suitably impressed with the pilot ive gone and shod both front and rear in them, and traveled nearly 8500kms. cant fault the tyre, exept if centre was just a bit more harder could be the only room for improvement.

Bought the Pilot Road 4 GT after and am absolutely happy, rode through a couple of heavy down poor's (standing water on highway) and the bike felt planted AF. Mine last about 12500 km on the rear, would always buy them again.

I live in Australia with warm weather but we do get monsoon rains at times. I have a ZX14, no traction control or ABS. I have Bridgestone BT23 front and rear. The front has been rock solid from day 1 but the rear was shocking. 150Kw is a heap of power to hold but it spins up, slipped on down shift and I was really questioning my choice.

If I'll have to chose between Pirelli Angel GT and Michellin Pilot Power 3 for my Honda Hornet 920cc, which one would be better option. 95% of the time I'm doing dry city roads, streets, motorways and highways, rarely wet and rainy conditions. Longevity is desirable but not over good grip while cornering. Thanks for your time. Appreciate comment.

True. You need more contact surface on the edges. The Perelli is probably your best choice, out of these tires. But why sacrifice any of your "dry road grip" so that you can go fast in the rain ? 🌧🏍💨
Best advice; Just buy a good set of "Sport Tires" and slow down in the rain.

Have the bt23 on my honda vfr for touring and the occasional high speed riding, already lasts more than 15000km and never had any frightening moments with it on dry or in the wet.
Have the Michelins on my ktm 990sm and it's a bit stickier, but nothing that I will need with my current riding skills :)
They do wear down way quicker than the bridgestones, but that would be the bikes torque difference as well i guess. Both good options in my opinion.

I rode on both the bridgestone 023 and currently the michelin pilot road 4. Road both through heavy rain on 400+ mile trips and I can tell you that the pilot road 4 is so much better. In the dry the bridgestone 023 is better of course but if you ride over 8000miles a year like I do in any conditions, having the pilot road 4 is a nice peace of mind when it does start pouring. PR4 also handles the cold streets down to 20F better than the bridgestones 023.

I'm looking at getting two tires for the Niagara region in Ontario, I riding two up and want to rid my stock tires of looking for something for riding in the rain and long distance I'm a new season rider for 3 yrs. I hear commander 3 is what many prefer I'm not worried about the cost for the best for my bike and wifey. Much appreciated

I want some Michelin’s for my GSXS1000! I like the Dunlop’s on them but they burn up to quick and they suck on wet! But they do for some unreal dry grip! But I’m thinking the new Michelin’s will feel just as good every where just from being new if not better!

Are attention spans so short in the modern world as to require camera angle changes every 3.5 seconds??
    Sad.
Great stuff. Your channel is awesome!

Why? Some people including myself will put street only tires on their GSA bikes after Labor Day weekend after camping season and put the mixed tires on at around Memorial Day weekend i.e. when camping/good off road weather hits. That's why. Keep up the great work sir!

Hi Ryan. Just have to pull you on the Angel ST's that you said are "crap"! They are superb tyres that are good at everything & last forever, even when abused on a ZZR1200. In my humble opinion of course!.... ;)

As always, awesome vid! Thank you. Just wanted to know if you have any thoughts on the latest Angel GT2's? I have a 2019 Ninja 1000 (Ninja 1000SX everywhere but Australia) and they came with a set of S20's which are very old tech. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for all of your videos!

Awesome review! I had the Angel GT's on my FZ09. Only for about 1500 miles, but I really liked them. I now have a R1200R with the Z8's. We'll see how those handle!
