Right out the gate, FZ6 bois unite. Also 05-07 (i think) was def the best years 99hp compared to the later gen's 75ish.
Edit: I love my 05 fz6. 35k miles and has not given me ONE problem. Routine maintence and this things been unkillable
Can you sponsor me my college im from Philippines
Ya almost listed my bike... I ride an '09 SV650s. Another half-faired beauty from Suzuki!!!
yeahhh Concours 14! :) I think like you! Reflashed it's a beast!
Definitely a lot of bias. Nothing in the touring motorcycle range. Completely missed the Kawasaki Vaquero or Voyager. Even missed out on any Indian motorcycles or Victory Motorcycles
Pretty sure the Yamaha fz1 is one of the most underrated bikes. Maybe I’m biased but mine just never disappoints.
Likely my next bike. Just seems to do everything well.
Totally agree. One of the best all around sport-street bikes ever.
Same here , my 07 is a blast to ride👍
@@leanit5756 I've seen nice examples of the 2nd gen FZ1 for $5-6k, and I've read that the build quality is better than the later FZ/MT 07 and 09. Just can't beat it.
Hell yeah
A quick tip about the SV650 - do not get a Gladius [as mentioned]. The Gladius is a great ride but appallingly made and will rust or snap at the drop of a hat. Oh, and if the numberplate light bulb goes be prepared to completely strip the rear of the bike.
A lot of bikes here are faired, for nakeds have a look at the Honda CB500 or Hornet 900 [919 in the states] for bikes that will easily go round the clock and are easy to work on.
Then there is me who bpught a 1972 CB500. Did a carb rebuild and sealed the rusty gas tank. First bike ive ever owned and couldnt be happier. Id love a z900rs
As someone who started riding 2 months ago at 34 years of age and has never touched anything but the 08 fz6 I bought used, I can attest it is a perfect commuter/squid baby bike ❤
So what made you make the switch to riding bikes?
@@haroldnoot6848 a close friends life was abruptly taken and made me reevaluate everything. Should not live in fear of death as it can come at any moment, as well as always be prepared and aware of threats.
@@nyashnader1 Well said friend, a commendable attitude. We can lessen risk but not entirely avoid it and so we accept it but we don't invite it. As a 59 yr old rider of more than 40 yrs, please allow me to advise you. Get it properly serviced at somewhere with a good rep every 10,000 or so and in the meantime, make a sound investment in a set of basic spanners and a workshop manual. That way at the very least you'll always have a correctly adjusted chain and properly inflated tyres and properly adjusted brakes, cables etc. These things will very much lessen the chances of falling off, it'll be much more pleasurable to ride and I really cannot overstate the difference things like correct tyre pressures makes to safety and handling. An advanced rider course is also a wise move, but most of all....................... Have fun my dude !
Yammi ur playing a deadly game with ppls and there family you will get wats coming mark these words.
@@nyashnader1 tell yammi to return my stuff or else
It's finally happening, I'm getting my first bike today. A 97 Suzuki vz800 with 18k miles for 2 grand. No, it's not my first choice, I want a new R3 or Ninja 400, but my car blew up and this is the best vehicle for the money I have right now.
Can't wait!
How you liking your bike brotha?
I'm wondering the same.
Lol
@joneverett1422 The weather is nice, I'm walking good again and just need a couple more months, and I'll be riding again. I was in a darker place when all this was going on and didn't even realize it haha. I learned my lesson. I'm just glad I didn't lose my leg.
Yamaha FZ1 is a really bad ass bike. Brings the goods, has the sound, great chassis, plenty of power, should run forever. Will hold its own on track. Great street bike, or daily. Can be had cheap these days.
I agree with the FZ6. That was my reentry bike back in 2007. It was terrific.
I bought a VTR 1000 Firestorm for 1100 euro`s, perfectly maintained and upgraded with hyperpro suspension and a full Bos exhausts system and dynojetted carbs. It makes around 120 hp and for that money i can`t think of any other bike that would offer that much bang for my buck. I hardly ever see one and it`s such an amazing bike with great torque and sound...
My first road bike was a 2006 ZX-6R. Bought it new. It was glorious.
my 2001f4i has 30,000 miles and has never skipped a beat. I love that bike so much
He mentioned the Yamaha FZ6, but surprisingly didn’t say anything about the FZ1. Both have a factory standard centre stand, comfortable riding position, decent wind protection and will do it all unless you want to go off road.
I have the FZ1 and its a great bike
Bought a 2008 Bandit 1250 a few months ago. The thing has a huuuge chunk of torque, and at 100km/hr (60mph), you're doing 3200rpm. Peak torque is at 3700rpm. This bike only needs 6th gear once you're moving! No down changes for the overtake, just roll the throttle on and it pulls like a train. Love this bike.
I've had mine 4 days now. Boy it's quick. Love the ride. 2 months in now: I had it Dyno'd and putting down 114hp and 86bhp. I didn't think it would make a difference but it's so smooth now and second gear wants to shoot me off the bike.
Yep..there is also Suzuki gsx 1400,with even more torque...also 100kmh at 3000rpm
Suzuki knows wery well to build big naked bikes
Hornet 919/ cb 900f ❤️
Awesome video. Keep these ones coming. Every reviewer is reviewing new(ish) bikes. Tons of people just starting to ride who are older or larger or who aren't sure if riding is for them will appreciate the older, cheaper, larger bikes that have held up to the test of time. For example, I truly believe my 03 yamaha royal star venture that I picked up 6 months ago for $2500 is more comfortable than the likes of a newer goldwing or any other newer BIG touring machine. Also my other bike being an 06 vstrom 1000 with 105,000 on the odometer has never let me down even with non regular maintenance and I bought thay bike used for $3500
Having a carbureted bike, doesn't "suck". It's amazing. It's raw, you listen to it breathe. I enjoy most of your videos, but this was kind of disappointing.
You forgot the honda hornet in 600 and 900 guises fantastic street bikes - tourers great all-rounders
The first year for fuel injection on the SV650 was 2003. However, 2003 was an odd year with a different seat and sub frame than the 2004 and up gen 2s.
Also I owned a 2009 FZ6 and it would hit the kickstand hard on left hand turns, so be very careful if you're taking one to the track or a tight twisty road.
Been riding my 04 Z1k for 13 years now. It has a few little quirks like the transmission can be a bit clunky sometimes but styling wise it looks like a bike much newer than it is, its got a lot of power, and its very easy to work on. At this point you usually won’t spend more than 3k to get a hold of a decent one.
I finally went full Akrapovic last year. Dyno’d just shy of 145hp. 😄
Try putting motul gear saver in the transmission
@@bilboswaggens2975 Thanks for the tip. I’ll probably schedule it for spring service soon. I’ll see about it then.
I mean i think the v-strom 650 is a damn good option considering absolutely insane reliability, fuel injection from the very beginning, and can do some off road stuff as well
I have the '05 as the '04 has carburetors, I waited for the '05 and bought mine new on on 12/31/2004. I didn't want the '04. at about 50,000 miles the linage wore out from one throttle body to the other, was on back order when mine was giving a cylinder out at idle. we put a spring over that link just like used on a lawnmower governor and that fixed the slop and it stays synched and runs smooth and powerful as new. I got the new links and haven't even thought about putting them on. It goes as fast as I want to go even though I'm fixing a bandit 1200, the weigh and the power is more than I want. riding position is too long armed for me.
V-Strom is always the answer (even when there's no question).
Only the "unique" brigade thumb their noses at them.
Rightly coined the "@$$hole bike", 'cause everybody's got one!
Need to add the mighty Vstrom, it is sooooooooo overlooked
I would add the Honda 919 Hornet as a solid, reliable bike in that class with the 1200 Bandit. Minus the fairing of the S model Suzuki.
As an owner of a ninja 300 for 4 years, I clearly am happy with the bike. Cheap, fun, comfortable, and tougher than people think. Looks like a bigger bike too. Just fantastic. Put almost 20k miles on her.
That's how I feel about my 650. I have some complaints but it's a fun bike and performs above what I need it to do. I COULD get a bigger bike, but I wouldn't be riding it outside of what the 650 does anyway so why spend the extra money. Plus since it looks like a super sport to people that don't know it definitely seems like cops don't even bother unless I'm doing something really stupid
You are spot on. There are a lot more great bikes but the ones on your list really stand out in every area.
CBR F4i sport - this year has 21 y/o 33k km. Literally beauty no problems at all
Love how he mentions the F4i. I've got an 02. And absolutely love the thing. But 16k on it. Dead reliable. And ride it everywhere.
How about the ergonomics? Are they very different from a proper sport bike, is it easy to ride without putting weight on handlebars?
As a guy who bought a honda f4i and my dad with a honda rc51 we have been having the fun of a life time
I bought a '06 VFR800 ABS with 12k miles a year ago for $4700. It was a total bargain for a basically brand new bike. I couldn't be happier with it and i couldn't imagine having anythis else.
It took the place of my '97 Bandit 600 which I'm about to list for ~$1500 and is going to give someone else some cheap reliable good times.
[stares in gear-driven cams]…jokes aside, the fifth and sixth Gen VFRs are just…they do everything. Avoid the early VTEC models, pay attention to the voltage rectifier thing, and be happy. I’ve only put about 45000 km on my 1999 in the last three years.
03 z1000 rider here. Never disappoints. I also love my 2000 r1
The Honda VTR Firestorm/Superhawk needs an honorable mention .Yes im bias and Yes its got carbs.. but the joy it brings for a quarter of the price of a RC 51 ...Awesome Bike !!
A great alternative to the FZ6 is the XJ6 Diversion. I love mine!
Yup Fz6 is a gem. I own a Fzs600 from 2002, and I love it. If you take care of it it just keeps going 😊😊 And it sound super cool even with the stock exhaust😍
As a very happy FZ6 owner I agree with you. 48 Years of riding from a lot of road-trail, enduro, MX and street bikes I'm happy to ride pretty much anything. My smallest one was after a hiatus - a CBR125S which I rung the neck out of (Previous bike was a "warm" FJ1200) up to the 1340 Harley.
For nice handling, and being surprisingly quick for it's capacity the FZ6 convinced me that I didn't need to go larger engine size. I'm happy with it for commuting or Country jaunts. It really is a good all-rounder.
Tell me more about this. I’m 6’2” 245. You look like a big guy, too.
@@chuckkelley5894 I'm 6'0" and 125Kg's (275lb). It has plenty of grunt to move my mass around and doesn't feel cramped size wise. It's light enough to flick round to maneuver as the weight is also low in the frame. Test ride one and you'll be happy with it!
Picked up an 07 sv650s last year as my first bike and it's been awesome so far. Definitely a great beginner bike that I'm looking to turn into more of a track bike in the future.
I was wondering why he excluded the 07-09 SVs. I have an 08 and love it.
Can't believe you talked about the rc51 but not the TL1000 suzuki Lol. great video really enjoy your content. 😊
Right out of the gate is my bike! The in-line 4 FZ-06. It was a nice, torque driven bike with a five gallon tank. I just hated the jerky throttle. It was rough on the hands on long trips because of vibration, but at 85 mph getting 46 mpg it was fun. I let mine go to upgrade to something newer.
Nice video. I have a 98 Concorse 1000. July will be five years of daily riding. The best $1100 I ever spent. She just needed a few light maintenance things. Almost 80k miles and going to need a clutch soon.
F4i is the first big bike tried as a teen. Started on a honda 50 love that lil machine
I owned an 05 Bandit, loved that bike.
Fz1 second gen 06-15 before they switched to mt. Went from a seca to a fzr600 to a fz6 and now I love the fz1. Tons of power good ergos and is a old man r1.
Basically a 2nd gen R1 motor, "slightly" detuned, and the 2nd gen R1 had a great motor
I have a Concours 14 2009. Purchased it a month ago and I'm in love with it. The gear shifter is a bit hard and I'm affraid of it having to do with the clutch but the exprience of riding this thing is so great 🥰
Traveling soon on it. Wish me luck ✌️
Add a shouldabeen flash and prepared to be amazed. I didn’t believe the bike needed improvement or could be improved but I gave in and got the flash. Ridability focused, flat torque curve from hell. Tooooo cool. Only down side is valve adjustment. First step….disassemble motorcycle.
Put an automatic clutch in it. they make them for every bike their is except some harleys. idling just pop it in gear and turn the throttle, let off to shift. Use the hand clutch if you desire as it still works like normal. Like rev it up in gear. they can be adjusted to how quickly they engage. set too high they will freewheel slowing down that can bother you as under a certain rpm you can set the clutch is disengaged speeding up and slowing down. It'll take off in a higher gear just wears n the clutch more. they are used in dirt bikes most often.
My 2009 Concours 1400 never disappoints, even after 155,000 smiling miles. It only has had normal wear items replaced and gets 50 mpg on trips. I'm never parting with it, still looks new.
The Suzuki Bandit 1200 is an amazing machine and you can’t hurt it. I used to wheelie mine all over the place. 👍🏽
Ninja 650R, 07 08. Had one loved it! Tank bag and saddle bags, sport touring on the cheap.
I have its actual sport touring brother, picked up an 09 Versys 650 for cheap in 2017. Not fast, but rock solid reliable, fairly comfy (bars and pegs are a little vibey as it's a 1st gen 650R motor), and has incredible handling for a 650 class bike
cbr 1100xx. One of the very best built bikes of all time. A wonderful allrounder that is a cruise missle.
I had a Yamaha Thunderace and it was great. Really strong motor insane reliability and quite comfortable for a long ride. Cheep too
Great information.
I love this list of bikes, great job
And yes I'm bias. Lol 😆😆😆
I'm a 100% RC51 fan
Honda CBR 929, 954 and Kawazaki ZRX 1200, Yamaha Virago 1100, Suzuki V-strom 650, BMW K1200S.
I'm glad someone finally talked about the bandit 1200s.
It's my first bike and love it
With all my heart.
It's got a stage 3 carb kit.
carbon fiber slip-on and bigger rear sprocket.
171 mph on the GPS.
Not bad for $3300
10.5 Sec Triumph triple with 12K miles $5 100.
The Harley V Rod has proven to be a very durable and hassle free bike. Many engines are now at 200k and never been opened up! Still going strong!
Said someone on reddit
My son who lives in Hawaii had a bandit 1200...super nice to ride...really fast, nimble, easy to ride...loved it ❤❤❤
Owning since 2008 a vstrom 1000 2003 model until now with 93 horses on dyno I can say it's bulletproof.
Been riding the Honda CB400SF (Super Four) for 14years. Its a bulletproof bike as well. Now Im riding the FZ1. And I like both bikes.
He doesn't even mention the Honda XR650L damn near bulletproof except for that primary drive sprocket and has been in production for 30 years and great for tall Riders
Great info. Thanks. How many miles is to many when buying a used motorcycle? (When talking about a reliable yamaha or something)
As long as it's got full service history, miles dont matter, they will do 150,000 miles easily!
I have a CBR 600 F4i for 2 years know, i love it so much, it's fast, it's great on the twisties and catualy has a lot of space under the seat (if you have the long seat and not the split tha comes with the F4i sport) and you get a center stand from the factory!
Honda Hornet 600 and Yamaha FZ1 are some of mine.
I ALMOST got an RC51,
I was to slow.
Then again, I probably need more time before I'm ready for that bike.
Yeah the RC is a widowmaker, if you're comfortable taking a modern literbike on a track with the TC off then maybe consider a RC-51. It's not as sketchy as some other bikes of the era like the Suzuki TL-1000R and the 1st gen ZX-10
There's always the Suzuki TL1000s and TL1000R that are always cheaper and not as well known.
Really great choices of bikes.
I’ve got a Street Triple 675 2015 as my first bike after half season of renting SV650 2006(yep another bike from this list). And I was melted by those bike: the speed, power, handling and overall quality was far superior to anything what i know. I picked it up for 7gran in 2019 and was shocked that they so cheap overall. Reliability good too It has 25k km and i make 10k more and have only one small issue with dead battery.
So if you looking for really fun and agile naked try to find Street Triple 675 2013-2016 and especially the R model. They cost 5-7 gran nowadays.
I understand the love for the f4i but I've also rebuilt a transmission for an f5i with 61k miles on the clock and you could still see the mill marks on the gears and minimal bearing wear. They'll all live a long time if you treat them with care and respect. As long as the cops don't steal it lol
Recently stopped riding sport bikes bc the road conditions are too much of a variable to safely push myself and have fun and the track is crazy expensive. I now ride a dr650
Ok Yam! This is decent content. Got my like .
Bought a 2007 FZ06 as my first bike back in December, no regrets! Honesly been a great bike so far. Enough power to get all the idiot energy out of me, but also easy to ride and nice in corners.
I grabbed an fz6. I drive a civic si so this thing feels like a rocket ship to me. Absolutely love it.
my man i bought the 2008 FZ 6N love this thing what a monster super reliable and fun to ride just a treat
@@paulomotorides I put 1000 miles on mine this winter. Things the tits for sure!
I'm sure you have already done this but at some point a yammie noobs collectors list of bikes would be cool.
Maybe your personal favorite bikes to own or always wanted to own and a list of the most legendary to own bikes.
Like all those poor best down last survivor GSXR's secretly hiding in people's garages.. Lol
Thank you again yammie noobs
Great channel
I appreciate the RC51 ... but i think the 929rr or the 954rr would have been a better choice with parts availability :P
My friend Sean has an F4i and it is sweet. Confirmed!
I’m glad to see the sv650 here! My first bike was a 2006 sv
I picked up an OG ‘86 Concourse for 1300$ and put 20k miles on it. Put tires on it and did a 3k mile trip to Cota when I got it. The dash looked like Night Rider. Sold it three years ago and still miss it.
I still ride and love my 1981 Honda CB 900 Custom. She’s smooth as silk and just puts the miles behind me.
Papa Yam never disappoints!!
Don't do this anymore for Yam's sake!
As a 2009 FZ6 S2 owner I approve of the first pick 😂
I have a Yamaha FZS1000 2005, I really thought it would get a mention.....
Hell of a thrill to ride, 143 BHP, 163 MPH......goes like stink when you want it to....👌😁
I had a ninja 300 (v.2014) for 2 years as my first riding experience.
Such a lovely bike, well manufactured, punchy with low fuel consumption.
Japan know how to build bikes for sure ! 👌
Yammie, you mentioned 2013+ for the Triumph Street Triple, does the 2013+ criterion apply to the Yamaha FZ6 also? Thanks!
For the ultimate Suzuki SV650, get the Suzuki V-Strom 650! (resistance is futile).
Detuned to last forever and make more torque at lower revs than the SV650 for everyday usability.
A more upright riding position to be comfortable as you age, but can still cut corners on you favourite set of twisties.
Weather protection from the fairing, luggage carrying capacity and a large fuel range so you can ride off into the sunset!
I would like to hear your opinion on the Superhawk 996.
Yammie at his best. Nice one, sir.

I’m watching this video talking about these newer bikes, when the newest bike I’ve owned yet is a 99 shadow 750 ACE.
Can't go wrong with ANY year of the DRZ 400 either ;)
Honda Shadow VT1100 C from late 80's and early 90's. Unbreakable.
I own an FZ6N great reliable bike for commuting and ripping the mountain roads at the weekend. Would recommend it to anyone. Just maintain it, and it will give you all the fun you need.
Just bought a 2002 FZS 600 Fazer. Incredibly fun bike
i think the entire fzs lineup should be on instead of just the fzs6, my dad owns an fzs1 (the 998cc one) that he bought new in 2006 (which will be given to me once he gets something else or isn't able to ride anymore), he's still riding it daily and he has taken it and kneed it on the track in our town, never dropped it or damaged in any way, aftermarket mirrors and windscreen but other than that it's all stock. We've taken it on several road-trips together and we can both easily sit on it for 2-4 hours (not counting short stops for gas) at a time. very comfortable, its an r1 engine so we usually keep a steady 150km/h on the highway so trips are pretty short if need be. In greece you can get one for under 3k euros in perfect condition without many miles on it too so its a pretty cheap bike while also being good
Very helpful
I love the look of 90's sport bikes.
as someone who just rebuilt the carbs on her 2001 SV650, I can assure you that they were still carbureted in 2001 - the 2nd gen with EFI didn't come out until the 2003 model year
I might be alone here, but the Honda CB500X is a great bike. I bought a 2014 with 22k for 4 grand and I never thought a sub 500cc motorcycle could be so much fun.
And in the category of power cruisers, I'd vote for both the Honda Valkyrie and VTX1800. Just sayin'.
Can You tell me what watch are You using? Looks cool
Just finished a 500 mile ride on my fz6 and crossed 80,000 miles. It's on the second motor but the first one lasted 60,000 miles. Love the bike.
cool info!
The CB100ex is my dream bike right now. Hope I can find one soon.
I ride a 2003 Kawasaki ZRX1200R that I bought new and i still ride daily . It’s carburetors work fine and I’ve put 53,900+ miles on it so far and it still runs great. There were later models of the ZRX that were only released in Japan that were called the ZRX DAEG that had fuel injection and were made until 2017. Everyone hates on carbs but they are more easily fixed than a fuel injection system that fries out. I’d never sell mine but I’ve seen people selling the ZRX for as cheap as $3000 . But the green ones for 4 or $5000. There are some who have put 100,000+ miles on their ZRX bikes. The Kawasaki ZRX 1100 R and ZRX 1200R are great reliable bikes no matter what you think about carburetors.
My yamaha fz6n 2006 has 109 860 km on now and still running very strong. Really underrated bike.
Still drive it on the rear wheel
The RC51 is super special.
Why does your list not include any cruisers? I have a 2007 Suzuki Boulevard VZ800 (M50), and although it appears heavy fully wet, it has not been a difficult bike to ride, maneuver and handle and it has been a blast so far and I'm a relatively new rider! Upgraded Cobra exhaust, so it's loud and looks really cool! I'm 6' 2", feet mid to forward is super comfortable
One of my favorit bikes of the last 25 years ist the suzuki gsr 750.
This bike is so amazing.
I have a Hayden RC51 and a FZ6(plus more 😁
Just want to say that I agree with you man. I own a SV650 2003. I also had a 2006 zx6r both are amazing bikes
I have an 07 sv650 that is so amazing that ill probably never sell it
Shoulda had an SV1000SZ on the list... I had one and it was freaking awesome.
Amazing motor, garbage suspension haha, almost as terrifying to ride as a TL-R or 1st gen ZX-10 haha
Is it still relevant to buy a used triumph bonneville t100 (865cc EFI) today.... or should I go for the new 900cc range?
