I currently ride a 2005 Yamaha Roadstar (an 800 lb cruiser), and since 1973 (yeah, I'm getting old, lol, but I still ride regularly) I've ridden on many different street bikes, and of course, many different types of street tires. All that ^^^ to say that 6 months ago, I replaced my Metzler 888's (totally worn out) with Michelin Commander 3's . I can sum up the difference in one word ... WOWZA !! Best motorcycle tires I've ever encountered. Like Ryan said, Michelin figured out how to give street bikers "the best of both worlds" re: long-lasting mileage, and grippiness. The Commander 3's give me so much confidence gripping the road when negotiating tight corners in the rain, and braking. These are solid AWESOME street tires. If you are thinking about a new set of tires, look no further than Commander 3's. You will not regret it. My Roadstar handles like a different (much better !) bike on these new Michelin's. They are worth every penny.
Do you think you can test, for us to watch, mix settings? I would love to watch Bridgestone S22 Hypersport in the front (possibly the best dry+wet tyre in the market for braking and turning, according to some magazine tests) and Michelin Road 5, Dunlop Roadsport 2/SmartRoad 3 or Continental Road Attack 3 in the back. They all seem to be excellent combinations for touring/sport bikes for moderate/safe driving but it would be great to have these combinations reviewed. No one has ever done this before! You could be that someone, because someone else will be for sure! The amount of RUclips videos could be great in numbers and content itself! Think about it and keep up with the good work!

In my experience, the Pilot 5s aren't as good as the older models and don't get the long life they used to. They get squirmy and wear poorly with age. I switched to the Battlax T31 two years ago and although they ride a little rougher and might not be as good in rain, they cost 30% less than the Michelins, they corner as well and have a longer life.
@💋 Sweety Hotgirl • Vlogs We, in Europe, however, are flooded with rubbish tires coming from East/South East Asia!... Sorry, but I had to say it...
Oh how I love watching your stuff. Very informative but keeping light and funny. I am going to go restart at the beginning. I ordered my rubber from your website and it was awesome except Canada Post, but that's a whole different beast. They were the Commander III cruiser and love them so far. No wobble, no slipping in rain. They are on my 1982 Yamaha Maxim 650 and I plan to put their mileage claim to the test. Keep up the great content.
Ok Canadian expat in California and you got a like before the first 3 minutes was done
What took you so long?
You are one of my favorite channels to watch of all time. I watch videos about bikes I don't even own because they are interesting and informative. Great job, keep it up, proud of you.
Can we get you guys an Oscar or something already?!
All your work is consistently great!
I love winter in Canada, Ryan pumps out a vlog every week. Summer not so much, I suspect he is to busy riding. My hero!
You should do a "getting track day ready" PPE gear episode.
@Jakob how do you know how to be track day ready if you’ve never done a track day?
@Jakob many people learn many things from RUclips videos...
@Jakob is a classic whiny troll. It never occurred to him that I might have already bought all my gear but thought Ryan could benefit from doing a race gear episode.
For being so young, this guy really knows his stuff. Probably more than anyone else i watched. He also makes the videos interesting where i just click on the next one. Well done.
"Like a near-sided man on El Capitan,
you never know how close to the edge you are" 🤣 Poetic
i am riding a commander II right now, lasts forever.. but grips like a wet soap!! its good for saving money but you need to be aware that it won't grip, especially in rain! You can not never ever forget that your tires don't grip! never cross the limit!
Please do a Adventure / Offroad tire round up.
i second this so much
Motion carried......this request has been duly voted and passed.
tractionator motaz ?
Agreed.
My dr650 needs new tires.
Ryan’s teaching skills are legit! If I had him for an algebra teacher in high school I probably would’ve passed.
so you failed
I highly recommend continental sport attack, i got them on my r1 front and rear for 175$ at cycle gear and they are very good tires very sticky, they have my trust in corners.
Yeah, what bike are u using them on, my 1400 chewed them up and spat them out.
This is the best motorcycle content on YT
I would really like to see a review on the Dunlop Trailmax Mission tire, very interested in your opinion.
Me too!
The adv folks seem to like them while understanding their limits in soft stuff
@@jimfeldman4035 I have recently put a set on my Tenere 700, although limited experience so far due to snow, but so far they seem like an improvement over the stock tires both on road and off.
Last Aug. I replaced the Metzler 888's on my cruiser (Yamaha Roadstar) with Commander 3's ... which transformed the handling & ride on my bike. Best tire I've ever owned (been riding since the 70's). Very grippy rubber for cornering, great in the rain, min. road noise & a very comfortable ride on the highway. Look no further. Commander 3's ... buy a set, you won't be sorry. Worth every penny imho
I did
"Like a nearsighted man on El Capitan..." priceless.
Gold!
I put 10K miles on a set of Roadsmart III's. The replacements are Roadsmart IV. I can say that I really like them, rode a couple hundred miles in the Black Hills of South Dakota with them and definitely the best tires on the bike so far! (2018 K1600 GTL).
"But you're a CHEAP BASTARD"
applicable AF for a lot of riders :D
I feel attacked, yet strangle validated at the same time.
Guilty ✋
Damn it, I've worked hard for decades to be a cheap bastard to this extent.
Grand pappy would be proud!
this guy made it to 1M subs..... lets give em another million subs...

When are you going to make us educated about engine oils.
now THIS is a video we need
Seriously ive got my first oil change coming up, and i still know nothing
just pour some oily fluid into engine and it will run fine ( probably )😁
The older the bike the thicker the oil. I run 20W50 🤣
Knowing Ryan's approach to physical and chemical aspects, it will be a hell of a job to put it in one episode, shorter than one day. :) Yet, I'm sure it would (or rather -will) be another fantastic episode which I will watch amused, as always! Great work, f9 team!
remember when he like 80000 subs......he has come such a long way....congratz man. well deserved my fav motorcycle channel
This remembers me. I have to change my tires.
Bro that’s reds bearings reference was spot on! Personally I prefer Swiss precision bones. But reds will always be a top choice when I’m on a budget
Hi Ryan. A few years ago in a tires Fortnine review you said to avoid TKC70 because of wobbling issues with them... Are they still dangerous? Does Continental fixed the wobbling issues of their TKC70?
A very good friend of mine runs new tkc70s on his Africa twin, hasnt had a problem with them yet. He rides about 10kkm per season, lots of curvy stuff but some autobahn too
I'm running them on my xr650r supermoto. Great freeway manners, nimble in the twisties, really good wet traction.
Best motorcycle channel out there
Eh, dunno if Dunlop are gonna get me back from Michelin’s road 5’s.
Yeah I got road 5s last year(and a good deal on them too, the pair for less than one usually costs), and I'm extremely happy with them.
@@OnlyKaerius For warm weather im sure it could be good, i'd not risk riding on any dunlop tire blow 10 degrees celcius.
@@Surpriseify Yeah I'm up in the cold north, the road 5's have been great all the way to 1°C, I put the bike away when the ice comes though. I've been looking for a good winter bike(I don't really want to go ice slip and sliding on a 215kg bike, even if I put proper carbide studded winter tires on it), but it's pretty slim pickings with euro emissions regulations...
@@Surpriseify I've had no problem taking my GPR300s down to 5 degrees. I don't usually ride in any colder temperatures as I'm not equipped for it.
@@OnlyKaerius yeah I’ve had the road 5’s down to a bit below freezing ... -2 or -3 max. Obviously when it’s that cold I’m just riding, not hitting corners hard lol, but no issues at all with them. Even rode them through a really heavy storm around 2-4c and even in the cold their wet weather performance is fantastic.
It was actually that storm that really sold me on them. I’d had a couple of bike with Dunlop road smarts and the wet and cold was always their Achilles. Actually even on my commuter scooter I hated the Dunlop scoot smarts in the wet
So, i did some service on my motorcycle yesterday, and i consider this my reward for it.
If I buy that tire I won't have gas money left

With your explanation about the TKC 70 Rocks and the slide angle and curve thing, man, you have become eligible for a DSO, Victoria Cross, Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire, Légion d'honneur and maybe even a Purple Heart among motorcycle tyre reviewers.
Isn't the miles advertised by tire makers a huge load of crap ? I had Michelins on my Triumph Trophy & I don't think it saw 10 000 k.m.s
The tire wore ridiculously odd & was down to the cord in no time at all .. This is not a road rocket either .
I have over 10 000 aggressive kilometers (I wear my tires evenly almost to the edges) on my set of T31s and they have little to no wear.
The best bike for destroying tires I've found is the Suzuki DR650. If you can get a rear tire to last 5,000 miles on that bike you're doing well.
@@Oddman1980 mitas e07. They last a LONG time on the dr650. Downside to this is mediocre grip on wet trails and the both tires will go out a the same time. They did not put a lot of rubber on the front. My tire of choice for this machine is the kenda k270. Change a rear every oil change but very good and inexpensive tyres.
@@nanomckomsncom I've been running the K270's for a long time, I don't change both tires at the same time and I have yet to die in a firey crash unloved and alone.

As a Californian I feel personally attacked by that intro lol
“Burns itself several times a year” 😂
is so very very true though.
Changing tyres on my R1 in a couple of days. 1st set a Continental Road Attack 2, rear lasted for 9800km. Changed it with a Pirelli Diablo Rosso 2 which lasted 9300km. Excellent grip from both. Now changing front Conti 19100km!!! and rear again. Going for Dunlop Roadsport 2 probably after seeing this video and some reviews... Thanks mate...
