    In 1995 an idiot car driver bumped into my Kawasaki GPZ 500 and sent me sliding across the motorway. My slide was stopped by my head banging into the centre safety barrier. Long story short: shattered bones, torn ligaments, sredded skin, multiple surgery. However, my head remained intact. Thank you, Arai! I owe you my life!

    I'm Japanese, most true Japanese products are actually not for the money, but the genuine pureness and legacy. This was the reason MADE IN JAPAN was born.

    • @brenturquhart7090
      @brenturquhart7090 Месяц назад +2

      Agreed. I’m not Japanese, but I have a lot of respect for the craftsmanship the Japanese put into their products. I have a number of Japanese made Damascus knives, and their knives are the best knives 8n the world. They are the sharpest too, that was a hard learned lesson. I hav3 the scars to prove it.
      Every time I use those knives, I am amazed at their beauty. They are handmade works of art. I know what goes into making those knives. Those artists must prove to their masters that they have mastered one aspect before moving to the next. It takes many years before they are allowed to make a knife like mine.
      It’s been that way for hundreds of years. I just hope that type of craftsmanship will continue, but it’s my understanding that it’s becoming harder and harder to find apprentices who are willing to put in the effort required to become masters of their crafts.
      Unfortunately most people are not willing to pay for those goods that are made by the hands of these artists. When friends cover to my house and see my knives, they ask about my knives and when they ask the cost, they think I’m insane to pay what I paid.
      These are the same people that wear fancy watches, or designer handbags, and yet thinking that $700 on a knife that will las5 a lifetime was spending too much. Go figure.

    Been using Arai helmets for nearly 40 years, because 1) I saw some wrecks that I did't think were survivable, but were survived with Arai helmets, and 2) a few guys I knew, guys that scoffed at my ponying up the dough for the Arai I had at the time, got traumatic brain injuries, with 2 of them never regaining their long term memory. They couldn't remember me, or what they'd done the day before. A few of the bad accidents I saw, the guys with the Arai's ALWAYS not only survived, but were conscious, and alert while we were rescuing them...and that sold me on these AMAZING helmets! The aren't just rumored to be the best, they ARE THE BEST, hands down, no doubt about it. 90% of professional racers use Arai helmets for this reason!! I love these things, and won't ride my R1150RS without it, not even in a state that says I can....nope, not me: seen too many traumatic brain injuries! Like I tell my daughter, who also rides: everything I am is between my ears, and if I lose that, who am I? Beats me? Many of those who bought cheap helmets can't tell you who they are, now, not anymore, tragically. Pony up the extra cash, and get an Arai. It's worth it!

      If you tried an Arai helmet and it didn't fit your head, then...
      1. The salesperson fitting your helmet was an idiot!
      2. The salesperson was never educated and trained to properly fit a helmet!
      3. The salesperson did not provide you their due diligence and have you try on helmets from their different model lines (which are made for different head shapes)!
      4. You(!) were in too much of a hurry when trying on helmets!
      I did my own comparative research years ago and came to the only possible conclusion...
      Arai makes the best (and safest) helmet - in the world!
      Arai helmets fit the widest range of head shapes - in the world!
      Arai helmets are preferred by drivers in all forms of Motorsport above all other brands - in the world!
      I've worn Arai helmets my entire life and will wear no other brand (they don't fit me properly anyway, I know, I've been trying on other brands for years!)
      Do yourself a HUGE favor... go get properly fitted by someone trained to do it correctly, and I KNOW that you'll find the most comfortable (and safest) helmet you've ever worn!!!

      @@johnwentworth666 I've tried more than once and in more than one store - unfortunately, up here in Scotland we don't have some of the same fitting gurus that other Countries have. Even my latest Shoei could do with some fore-aft tweaking and I intend to travel to Newcastle to get that done.
      Weirdly, the closest off the rack I've tried of late was an HJC - from what I've read and seen - Shoei and HJC fit oval shaped heads better and Arai (by default) are more round 🤷‍♂️ and I have a pronounced oval head.
      I'm jealous of those who have quick access to shops with a full range of liners and staff that can switch them out to optimise fit - but believe me I've tried many Arai lids - since the late 1980s and never found one that suited my head shape (out of the box). Shoeis - in the he main, do.

    I was racing on MX, and get threw UFo, JT, and other helmet brands , then my first Arai, a vx-pro: till i stopped racing i bought only VX's. 10 years later i buy a new bike and then choose an airoh aviator, for the price ,look and fame . Well, I resell it in the month after and pay myself an other Arai. Still remain the best helmet i have ever put my head on.

    When I started racing motocross here in Australia in 1982, I wore a Bell Moto 3 for the first 6 months until… I discovered Arai. My Bell Moto 3 then became my practice helmet and the beautiful Arai my race helmet. When I began riding motorcycles on the road my go to helmet was Arai. Today, some 42 years later, I still only trust Arai to protect my noggin. My current Arai Chaser-X is beautiful, comfortable, and gets plenty of adoration from everyone who see’s it. I refuse to wear anything but an Arai.

    I tried on a Arai helmet that was old stock and I loved the fabric, it was very comfy, had the lovely metallic white helmet with purple pearlescent tint at certain angles. Had the little fog /wind slots. It was so nice and top notch. I didn’t go with it and ended up buying a HJC i71 because the shop didn’t have arai in my size or the in-helmet eye tint. I would love to buy one next now that I know my size. Beautiful product.

    Love my Arai XD4 for dual sporting. Like my ktm 500, it somehow magically does it all. It's nice to have equipment that handles multiple situations without you even knowing about it being there (ie. no distraction from problems, performance issues, or discomfort).

    I have an Arai XD-4 and it is hands down the most comfortable helmet I've ever put on my head. When they discontinued it for the new XD-5 I went and found another XD-4 to buy as a spare. If I make it through both, I'll follow it up with whatever Arai has at the time. The comfort and safety is worth it. Heck, I've got a buddy that doesn't want to spend more than a couple hundred bucks on a helmet, so I'm buying him an Arai for his birthday because I want my buddy riding with me for years to come! Arai is worth every penny.

    I started riding in 1967…here in the US. The only helmets around were Bell…and super cheap knock offs available at stores like Kmart. My local Kawasaki/ Yamaha dealership had a bell helmet poster that read, “ if you have a $10 head, buy a $10 helmet.” I never forgot that and they are words I live by. By 1980, Arai was more available here and I’ve owned many Arai since. They are the best…and I’m worth it !

    Arai for life for any on road motorcycles 🏍️ And Fox Racing for motocross/dirtbikes only my opinion from personal experience of course 👍🏼 This is a great video just for the safety awareness it brings and shows how much hard work it takes to be as safe as Arai helmets. It bothers me every time I see a video or anything of someone riding without a helmet just because I know from experience with 3 skull fractures, a broken neck and many concussions from when I was young and none of these were from motorcycle accidents but trampolines, winter sledding getting hit by two others on one sled lol etc. So ALWAYS wear your helmet anytime it might be needed!! Be safe 💯👍🏼

    I started with a Bell Jet over fifty years ago. AGV next (AGO replica). Then a Shoie full face (Wayne Gardner replica) and a Shoie RJ Platinum. Recently an HD "half hat" to wear in Thailand due to the high temperature. (used on an ADV 160 scooter for short, low-speed, town trips).
    Next will be an ARAI Tour X5 to wear on my two new MV Agusta.

    Unfortunately, it’s no if you will get into an accident on a motorcycle, no, it’s when.
    I got T-boned on a Tuesday morning on my way to school. I, and the bike, was thrown in the air to about 10 feet, I landed two lanes away from where I was hit and landed on my head.
    I was lucky, both a ER doctor and a police man witnessed the accident, so I was taken care of very well. I suffered three fractures in my neck and experienced temporary paralysis from the neck down. Though at the time, we did not know it was temporary. It was a scary time.
    My mother never wanted me to get a bike for the road. I had a dirt bike since childhood on my grandparents farm, starting with a Suzuki 75cc when I was ten. But I was young and felt I was invincible.
    What she did do was get me the best helmet on the market, and it was a helmet built by these wonderful people.
    A specialist at the hospital, he specialized in motorcycle accidents, told me that i was extremely lucky, and a lot of that was due to using the equipment I did. He assured me that if I had been wearing a massed produced helmet, there was a good chance I’d be dead.
    He based that on the damage of the helmet. He actually had other helmets from accident in his office and showed me the difference. Being DOT approved is not enough. You don’t have a crumple zone like a car. No windshield, no bumper, no firewall, no, you just have a helmet. Don’t be cheap, what’s your life worth.

    It is interesting that the top 3 or 4 helmets… Shoei, Schuberth, Arai and HJC…. All claim to be the best, but it comes down to which one fits the head better. I happened to like the Shoei GT, but have also recently purchased the Ruroc Carbon 4, also have a Klim and a Schuberth all fit intermediate oval shape.

    • @gwot
      @gwot 12 дней назад

      fit is important, sure, but would you rather have a proper fitting helmet but doesn't protect? This is why different models are a thing, to accommodate different head shapes while offering the same top level of protection.

    • @gwot
      @gwot 12 дней назад

      @@andyfumo8931 well, they built a new version every year, that's extremely short lived for a new helmet. I give them kudos and benefit of the doubt that that're improving their helmet each year, due to making terrible helmets, which is probably why you hear terrors. I personally wouldn't buy a brand new helmet company (to motorcycles), especially if there are tons of bad reviews and a new version so damn fast. I'd only ever try them if they could settle down to 1 version and keep production of that for at least 5 years
