It's so ironic, I bet Robb would've preferred to die by Jaime's sword here, than by Tywin's treachery later.
Frey's treachery. And Bolton's. Tywin was Robb's enemy, he had every right to plot against him
Dying by Jaime in his first battle would make look like a punk. Dying by treachery in a wedding after beating up Tywin repeatedly makes him a martyr.
@@hamzamahmood9565 yeah, and he had to do it the dirtiest way possible because that's how Tywin is, a real piece of s***
@@J10005 not really, because the Stark's would have won anyway, the Lannisters were surrounded, even if he had died, they would have won the battle. Besides, no one would say he's a punk for losing a one to one against Jaime, people might not like him, but they recognize he's probably the best swordsman of his generation, and Robb was indeed just a kid
@@tatianasalazar4066 Losing in one battle would look kind of weak and create a huge succession/leadership problem among his men for are stuck down south. It would have affected his legacy heavily. Beating up Tywin Lannister and him basically having to kill through treachery makes Robb look more like a fallen hero instead of a young kid who died in his first real battle .
When rob listens to his wolf or has him by his side things went well for him. When he was going southerner and distance himself from him that's when things went bad
In the books, grey wind was with Robb when they entered the freys and he went ballistic. Robb didn't listen
@@darthcaedus9130 more than just that. He was also weary of the Frey messengers as well as the wife's family.
But, no-one could have guessed freys would break the guest right.
Starks just don’t fare well in the south
“I should have thought that heat ill suits you Starks. Here in the south, they say you are all made of ice, and melt when you ride below the Neck.” -Petyr Baelish
The archers slaughtered 50% of the forces before Robb even charged in, Robb was a great general and terrible politician.
You can’t be a good politician when you’re 14
@@user-cp5yk3qh4i 18 for the show, but I get your point.

Theon actually fought in a war. Which is why it makes no sense for his father calls him soft
Can’t expect logic with raiders and rapists
Theon was actually on the winning side in a battle. Can't say the same for his father. I always thought Balon chastising Theon for being soft was kind of odd. Also really stupid of Balon Greyjoy not to accept Robb's terms
@@treefiddy727killed by his own honor. Not just honor but walders honor
@@treefiddy727, Balon is a moron. His characterization is very consistent. Greyjoy's Rebellion was foolish, trying to run it back after being defeated the first time was idiocy. Building an entire economy around theft is self-defeating. House Greyjoy in general is just not smart.
@@JonPITBZNeuron is pretty smart
I love the irony of Robb, the supposed hot blooded young wolf, defeating Jamie, the famed knight and king slayer, by taking advantage of his hot bloodedness and being cold and calculating in his tactics.
He did that at 15 too. The young wolf!!
Forever Young ;)
@@shamsmehdi3725Shut up Roose. Stannis boutta cook yo ass
“He came running at me, this dumb highborn lad. Thinking he could end the Rebellion with a single swing of his sword.”
Well he was going to until his sword got stuck in 1 of the starks head then he later wonders y knights carry 2 swords 😂😂
Yes but this is The Kingslayer Jaimie Lannister.
@@Govanna348 only reason he was halted otherwise robb would have been a dead man
Catelyn was so relieved when she saw Robb ride out from the trees. That was so touching.
The Theon part was added in so randomly lol
"He also helped a bit" LOL
"By what right does the wolf judge the lion"
jaime once asked
when the lion is bested by a wolf cub, then the lion is not so anymore.
The Young Wolf outsmarted the Young Lion.
More like _Middle-aged_ Lion
30 plus year old lion 🦁
Jaime and Cersei are only 31-32 years of ge at the beginning of "Game of Thrones". That's not old or middle aged.
@@danthemancushecan for the time period, it is arguably over middle age.
@@JustAnotherAccount8 huge misconception. Even 1000 years ago, 30 yo was considered pretty young. A 30 yo 1000 years ago probably would looked younger than a 30 yo today if they weren’t dirt poor. People didn’t hit puberty till like 15-16 back then, instead of 10-11 today
Both cubs fighting for there families
Jaime was older than Ned Stark lol
@@TobiasuJaimie was like 33 during thus battle he's actually only 3 years younger than ned

Love these Shorts. Makes me want to read the books again 🙌🏽
He’s halted when his sword won’t come out of a Karstark’s neck, otherwise he would’ve killed Rob Stark.
Exactly the comment section is just downplaying jaime 😔
Sounds like a kingslayer’s cope
Jamie was going insane trying to get to Robb, one of my favorite parts of the book
Amazing general. Horrible politician.
“You still think good soldiers make good kings?” Renly knew.
Stannis is the one true king by right
@@beaub152 robert is literally the Usurper what right do the Baratheons have
A Hornwood, or rather THE Hornwood, as his father fell in the Battle of the Green Fork, making him the Lord till his death.
Which was then later brought up, as there were no other male Hornwoods to inherit the title, closest being the fathers bastard, and a nephew through a sister.
I wish the show would’ve had the budget for earlier battles. You hear so much about whispering wood in the show but don’t get to see anything except after it’s over. Same with Oxcross, would’ve been so cool to see the chaos caused by Grey Wind and the horses + the entire army sneaking single file all through the night into Lannister lands through a track that can’t be seen.
(Don’t even get me started on Fist of the First Men🤦🏼♀️ It took me like 3 run-throughs of the show + reading the books to finally understand what happened. The show just gave us a couple seconds of quiet, muffled sword noises and some stock scream files they found on their laptop and then a bloody Mormont, burning wight, and Sam is in trouble for not sending the raven messages)
You don't "see" the whispering wood battle in the book either. Robb doesn't get any first person chapters. You're with Catelyn waiting for Robb to come back.
No, no. It's not "CAL-vary." It's "CAV-al-ree."
(Because there's a big difference between horsemen and the place where Jesus was crucified.)
Father of two kings lose to some kid on his first battle. For shame, lord Lannister!!
Jaime is great warrior but no great military commander there is a difference there
Man it would be so awesome to see Jaimie fight at his prime, I guess even Robb would be awestruck to see Jaimie easily cut his way through his guards who are probably very good fighters themselves.
Jaime is amazing. I really like the Lannisters, Tywin, Tyrion and Jaime are all amazing in their fields.
The show did not concern about the wolves as they showed very minimal scenes and bonds between starks and their wolves
gotta spend the CGI money on dragons and greenscreen rush jobs
@@Fr0st1989lol
I loved reading that chapter describing Jaime knowing he’s defeated trying his best to rally he’s men and charge at Robb
jamie would have definetly defeat robb in one to one combat
DUH, nobody denies that.
But robs a better commander
@@ojisgay6745 Which is why he beat Jaime. And refused his duel. Robb was smart enough to not let his pride make him engage in his enemy's field of expertise.
So Theon is just an afterthought
Theon was lucky there as i remember he was going to be slayed by Jamie but a man put in front of him. This also prove how much of a force Jamie Is.
Of course theon is an After thought Because he lost his winner From my favorite villain Ramsey, snow 😅😂.
Jaime kil*ed 9 of Robbs men trying to get to Robb
And Robb just probably Soiled himself when he saw Jamie.
Gotta respect Jamie’s courage and martial spirit. He realized all hope was lost after being led into an ambush, and what was his first instinct that he immediately acted upon? Fleeing? Nope - charging straight for the enemy commander and cut down everyone in his path. Which he did.
Absolutely Respect jaime
I would love to see more Astapori, Mereeen , and Yunkai art...
LOL Jaime and his horse in their armor looks SO over the top it’s funny. Dude deserved to get captured solely for dressing like he’s a god on earth
I wish we saw it
If Robb would’ve fought that battle like Tywin and sat back instead of being in the thick of it. The karstarks would’ve lived and Jamie would’ve been captured
Well the thing Tywin was a well known seasoned and feared battle commander already. He can afford to stay in the reserve . While Robb was a newbie someone who had to prove his worth
Jaime cutting down man after man screaming’s Robb’s name must have been quite scary for a 15 year old boy.
Jaime wasn't really halted when trying to kill robb. Jaime's sword got stuck in eddard karstarks neck which resulted in jaime being captured
Rob at this time is similar to brienne where people underestimate them because of age and gender
I am always sad how little acknowledgement Briene gets sometimes.
She beat the knight of Flowers in single combat, a guy that unhorsed the mountain.
She beat the Hound in single combat, a man shown multiple times to be worth his weight in chicken and pigs feet. Also debatably the only person who stood a chance against the Mountain.
She may have killed Stannis, though that is only in the TV show.
And she beat the King slayer when he had 2 hands.
Yet I have seen polls asking who the greatest swordsman in westeros is and she isn't mentioned.
Briene deserved better.
@@shaderax_storm6165 thank you brienne is my second favorite book and show characters behind Jon

Whayyyyyyyyyy they didn't make a movie of these 😢😢😢😢😢
Robb was great general, brilliant strategist, but was sorrounded by poor politics and bad decisions. If only one thing that gone wrong to robb wasn't happened, he would've won the war
His loss has 4 causes but 3/4 do not have anything to do with him :
Theon betrayal
Lysa Arryn betrayal
Stannis kiling Renly
But in the end all these three are ending miserably
@@flavius5722 The main reason things go sour for Robb is because he betrays the Freys by marrying for love instead of cementing an alliance, like any responsible lord should do. Without Frey's treachery, he would probably have remained undefeated on the battlefield.
@@trolleurdurden5534This is not the main one ,is one of them but not the main one
If the Greyjoys didnt betray him He would never go to Westerlands and never meet Jeyne, and dont even need the Frey that much ( The Fandome just make a very intresting video )
If the Vale join him , he would've won before the Red Wedding, and Bolton will never dare to betray him
If the Renly was alive he would've keep the Tyrells against the Lannisters
At the point of the Red Wedding Robb had already lost , he was suronded from all sides , but if he remain until the purple one maybe the Tyrells will negociate a peace betwen him and Tywin, with Sansa marryng Willas
@@flavius5722. It’s really just Martin making the story more dramatic but also less believable. In reality after Tywin has his favorite son and wanted heir captured he would have happily traded Sansa for Jamie. The iron islands attacking the poorer and scarce north instead of the westerland also made no sense. Ned not leaving kings landing the minute Robert was injured makes sense. A lot of decisions Martin makes his characters make don’t have any logic but it’s use to push the story forward in my opinion. Also the Tyrells not claiming independence while everyone is having a free for all why they have the largest army and most of the grain and fertile land also makes no sense
@@flavius5722 the only events that happened during the whole clash of kings situation in my opinion is the Bolton and Frey betrayal. Other then that characters just make bad decision after bad decision all to push the plot forward. For example if Ned believes Cercei killed Jon Arryn because he found out about her children lineage, why on gods green Earth would he notify Cercei that He also found out and not think she would just attempt the same to either him or Robert. For all he know Jon Arryn who raised him gave Cercei the same option and got killed for it.
WHEN THE NIGHT FAALLLSS 🗣️🗣️🗣️
Once Jamie sees defeat is imminent, he opts for a Richard III type Calvary charge at the opposition leader. Seriously lacking in the brains department but Jamie had some serious balls.
A well known strategical move to which the sentence "Once More Unto the Breach" has been associated with in multiple fiction work from Shakespear to Star Trek.
Oh Robb you sweet summer Child
On the show, jaime tried to slay Danny too. He cares only of his appearance. Imagine if he would've slain robb 😮
This person should make another video with the same title but then the only audio is him saying "military tactics"
The more I hear how things happen in the books the more disappointed I get they aren't in the show
Wish they had season 6 budget for this
Where’s my man getting this 🔥 music from
If only season 1 of the show had a budget...
Would like to point out if Jaime's sword didnt get stuck he would have 100% killed Robb.
Just thought it was worth mentioning, it is of absolutely importance to what ends up happening
Robb was a talented battlefield commander, just like his dad. If only he had listened to his mother and not killed Lord Karstark, he would have defeated the Lannisters and won the war of 5 kings.
"Calvary"
They are called Cavalry in English not Calvary.
Robb learned to much from his father. Honor gets you into the ground
Robb was a fool like his father with his ridicolous sense of honor.
"calvary"

Imagine Robb was dead at this point and Brandon Stark becoming the King in the North
