I heard a theory that Leyton's got a glass candle burning up in that tower, and it's just so cool that I believe it's true with like no evidence or thoughts
On the Salt Throne thing. I actually like that name, but I also am electing to take the show canon as a separate entity. Within that, maybe both thrones do exist. For whatever reason, perhaps the iron islanders chose to switch to the Salt Throne after some sort of disagreement over the old one. Who knows? Maybe the old one mysteriously vanished one day. Surely it was too big and heavy to just up and steal...but then, where did it go? I don't know. I just made all this up...but, hey, that's how most great stories start.
Interesting ideas. I don't necessarily think "Seastone Chair' is a fantastic name, but "Salt Throne" just sounded kinda goofy to me. It was emblematic of the strange unnecessary changes GoT kept making in the later seasons
I'm just gonna say this. That high-pitched replay of "salt throne" was the perfect mocking. Today everything has to be a blatant insult, and somewhat friendly mocking is almost too mannered of a behaviour to encounter. So, you're a man of culture, ser Fantasy Haven!
Im currently in the middle of season 8 in my 2nd rewatch after 4 years and i just found out that Margaery Tyrell has hightower blood in her. So basically the hightowers were indirectly involved in the middle of GoT.

The Hightower knew well Aegon I and his sisters because they had been guests in Oldtown, so It's comprehensible they opened the door of the city peacefully
A lot of great houses have gone extinct in the Song of Ice and Fire before the events of A Game of Thrones. It is so interesting. Makes the story and the world very real. Westeros has a real "fuck around and found out" vibe.
The Hightowers and Velaryons are not among those extinct houses. The Hightowers are still active and ruling Oldtown in GoT's timeline, and Lord Hightower is Margaery's grandfather. The Velaryons are Stannis's vassals, and the previous Lord Velaryon was killed at the Blackwater.
@@Phizzo4real hightowers still at their peak & velaryons lost all their power due to the dance of the dragons by playing for the wrong side and never recovered since.
1:39 This is the O'Neill clan symbol in its literal sense: the Red Hand from Game of Thrones is replaced with a green hand. Based on what you mentioned about Garth Greenhand, one could argue that the equivalent would be Niall of Nine Hostages, whose descendants also created multiple clans, among them the O'Neill, who were the main Ulster rulers, etc. An analysis has suggested that many Irish people are descended from Niall of Nine Hostages, suggesting that GMM has drawn heavily from Irish history.
'In deep geek' said once that Hightowers are only ones that could be considered to have won in the dance of the dragons. Most of the seven kingdoms either stayed were they were (Starks, Arryns, Dorne, Iron Islands), took some heavy hits and significant losses which they had to recover for years (Lannisters, Baratheons, Velaryons) or got the shit absolutely and truly rocked (Targeryans, Crownlands and Riverlands). But Hightowers came out in stronger than what they were before, enriching themselves.
The Hightowers only came out "stronger" was because they completely changed their ideology between pre and post- dance. Alicent and Otto would have a heart attack to see what the Hightowers turned into
Bruh, just cuz they are doing fine now means they have won a war which happened more than a century ago? Perhaps it's cuz the new generation obv aren't corrupt & dirty imbecile like Otto his brother & alicent, those houses u said not all of them were took hit cuz of the dance, the hell?
@@rose-yw5xfnot really, the main branch of the Hightowers were way smarter than otto or Alicent (who were a cadet branch but were powerful as Alicent was kings wife and otto was hand) . Otto lost his family during the dance while his relative Hightowers who were the lords of oldtown got even richer and Stronger after the dance ended.
@@Att964 Well the main branch did follow alicent and otto’s lead during the war. Otto has power as the hand, but he doesn’t have access to house Hightowers resources. Only his brother and his heirs do. And they obviously followed Ottos lead. They weren’t smarter, it’s just that they didn’t die. When I say that alicent and Otto would have a heart attack seeing what house Hightower became. I meant that house Hightower became significantly less religious and even dirtied the high septon at one point. And that it was a women who made their house richer and powerful After the dance, lord Lyonel Hightower married his stepmother, lady Sam. The high septon found their marriage to be illegitimate, but lyonel hightower didn’t care. Lady Sam was a prominent Black and ally to king aegon 3. Lady Sam protected Lotho Rogare after the fall of House Rogare and together they founded the Bank of Old town. That’s how house Hightower became richer and more powerful, because of a black supporting Aegon 3.
Good stuff , you really are appeasing my adhd mind thinking about a lot of unanswered questions that people like me care about very much. You got one about house Reed during GOT?
You can already see the fall of these houses by the fact that the Velaryons don't even exist and the Hightowers are just a vassal house to the Highgardens. All of the other major houses are still at the top - Baratheon, Stark, Greyjoy, Tully, Lannister and Arryn.
The velarions still exist and the Hightowers were always sworn vassles to the Tyrell’s infact they still are one of the most powerful houses and are the second most powerful house in the reach first is the Tyrell’s
Maybe bc I am _dead inside_ that very few things make me laugh out loud, but that Ottoble™ spot did the trick. Great work on a different ASOIAF subject that I immediately _clicked_ on as soon as I saw it. I still refuse to believe (let alone see another) R+L=J video. I need fresh ASOIAF subjects. You earned a sub. Where do I sign up for Ottoble™.
I'm doubtful that the Hightower's supported Renly. As the only statement made about the Hightower's supporting Renly was made by Renly himself, who was inflating his numbers and his following to try and get Stark and Tully support, because outside of the Tyrells (and maybe Courtnay Penrose and Randyll Tarly) nobody was all that enthusiastic about Renly. As shown by the fact that all of the Stormlords and few Reacher Lords (including members of the Rainbow-guard) defected to Stannis before his body was even cold. The Tyrell's only supported Renly so heavily because Loras Tyrell was Mace Tyrell favourite son, Renly agreed to marry Margery Tyrell and (probably) agreed to name Mace Tyrell Hand of the King.
given that Stannis was the older brother, its lack of enthusiasm for him that is the reason that they didnt just declare for him to begin with. they liked renly more and only Loras and brienne truly suspected stannis of being behind it.
Thanks! Yeah, I create the characters & backgrounds on Photopea and use Davinci Resolve to animate (they're basically the free versions of Photoshop and Premier Pro)
I thought only the free folk and northerners were descendants of the first men, while everyone else in Westeros besides Dorne were descendants of the Andals, while the Dornish are a mix between the old Dornish and the Rhornars
@@fantasyhaven1 yes but wouldn’t that be like having Sansa or any of the starks children on the thumbnail when talking about House Tully? As their mother Catelyn Stark is a Tully.
But there are other examples of Tully descendants in the show (Edmure, Blackfish), while the only Hightower descendants we ever see are Ser Gerold (at the Tower of Joy) and Mace's offspring. So I had to choose between an awkward screenshot of Ser Gerold, or an official HD promo pic of Margaery/Loras. Margaery is more popular, so I went with her.

I'm glad they left that out of GOT because there were already plenty of story lines to keep track of. They should just give each large house their own shows and crossover when necessary 😂😂
yeah honestly READING is one thing bc it’s pretty easy to flip back through the pages and find the information you seek. too many plot line in the show is part of the reason my friend couldn’t get into it. she was super confused (so was i tbh when watching the first few episodes) bc there was just way too much to keep track of. it only got easier once everyone was connected in some way or another but i was hella confused for awhile
I heard a theory that Leyton's got a glass candle burning up in that tower, and it's just so cool that I believe it's true with like no evidence or thoughts
I can't remember when I read it but I think that's from the books. Maybe some maester's gossip. Maybe told to Bran idk.
Dany kinda forgot about the Hightowers.... or something
Love your style and humor bro! Subscribed
Thanks man
4:45 a refferance to the boy Glimbo. NICE. Immediately liked and subbed.
@@fantasyhaven1 well, not everything is for everyone.
Good humor mixed with facts
How does this video have 650k views, but the creator only had 29k subs!?
Let's get this man some subs, common guy's
I know right? 😆
Great video. Perfect, balanced amount of humor that hits haha. Subbed.

I absolutely love the animations, very well done!
Thanks!
there needs to be a new tv series about the Hightower family
Hightower spinoff 🙏
Fantastic video keep it up you're doing amazing job
Thanks :)
I'm just gonna say this. That high-pitched replay of "salt throne" was the perfect mocking. Today everything has to be a blatant insult, and somewhat friendly mocking is almost too mannered of a behaviour to encounter. So, you're a man of culture, ser Fantasy Haven!
Here before this channel blows up
🙏
Brilliant videos. Love the artwork and presentation good sir
Thank you!
Im currently in the middle of season 8 in my 2nd rewatch after 4 years and i just found out that Margaery Tyrell has hightower blood in her.
So basically the hightowers were indirectly involved in the middle of GoT.
So, I was just watching the video and I HAD to check the channel name due to the animations and noticed you only had 3.52k subs. So, I subbed too. Keep up the good work!
Thanks! Onwards to 1 million 💪

@gooby214 yeah... I forgot to mention specifically they aren't as powerful as they once were.
@@Phizzo4real hightowers still at their peak & velaryons lost all their power due to the dance of the dragons by playing for the wrong side and never recovered since.
@@hazeinheaven wdym ? aren t they team black ?

1:39 This is the O'Neill clan symbol in its literal sense: the Red Hand from Game of Thrones is replaced with a green hand. Based on what you mentioned about Garth Greenhand, one could argue that the equivalent would be Niall of Nine Hostages, whose descendants also created multiple clans, among them the O'Neill, who were the main Ulster rulers, etc. An analysis has suggested that many Irish people are descended from Niall of Nine Hostages, suggesting that GMM has drawn heavily from Irish history.
Amazing video!
Common Hightower W
And that it was a women who made their house richer and powerful
After the dance, lord Lyonel Hightower married his stepmother, lady Sam.
Amazing recap of Hightowers
Your editing is great

I kinda wish the Hightowers had been included in GOT
I also wish ALL of the Greyjoys and Martells had been included in GOT!
You can already see the fall of these houses by the fact that the Velaryons don't even exist and the Hightowers are just a vassal house to the Highgardens.
All of the other major houses are still at the top - Baratheon, Stark, Greyjoy, Tully, Lannister and Arryn.
The velaryons do exist btw they swore fealty to stannis in ACOK
The velarions still exist and the Hightowers were always sworn vassles to the Tyrell’s infact they still are one of the most powerful houses and are the second most powerful house in the reach first is the Tyrell’s
@@AegonTargaryenthesecond3096 i later read that yes, that said they went from being a major house to nothing.
@@RibZe1 where they are still a very major house and even still have links to the crown through Margery although it is waning due to her imprisonment

It's funny how this badly drawn cartoon of Euron Greyjoy looks more believable than the f*boy we got in the show.
Just came across ur videos, immediately new sub
Awesome, thank you!
Just based on the show, I like the hightowers and never thought they were pompous.
Hilarious and informative. Instant sub
Welcome aboard!
I didn't think this was going to be this funny lmfao good one

Awesome vid, cool animations and a smooth voice. I subbed :)
Do you do the animations yourself?
Love how the thumbnail has a Tyrell
Margaery is descended from the Hightowers
@@fantasyhaven1 yes but wouldn’t that be like having Sansa or any of the starks children on the thumbnail when talking about House Tully?
As their mother Catelyn Stark is a Tully.
But there are other examples of Tully descendants in the show (Edmure, Blackfish), while the only Hightower descendants we ever see are Ser Gerold (at the Tower of Joy) and Mace's offspring. So I had to choose between an awkward screenshot of Ser Gerold, or an official HD promo pic of Margaery/Loras. Margaery is more popular, so I went with her.
@@fantasyhaven1 okay when you put it like that it makes sense xd
We don’t really at all see any hightower beside the few in house of dragon.
Would've been cool to see Lord Leyton is GoT! But the Hightowers clearly didn't fit into the story D&D wanted to tell
The “oh wait no we didn’t” killed me 😂
