"A Song of Ice and Fire (commonly abbreviated as ASoIaF) is an ongoing series of epic fantasy novels by American novelist and screenwriter George R. R. Martin. Martin began writing the series in 1991 and the first volume was published in 1996.
The story of A Song of Ice and Fire takes place in a fictional world, primarily on a continent called Westeros but also on a large landmass to the east, known as Essos. Most of the characters are human but as the series progresses others are introduced, such as the cold and menacing supernatural Others from the far North and fire-breathing dragons from the East, both thought to be extinct by the humans of the story. There are three principal story lines in the series: the chronicling of a dynastic civil war for control of Westeros among several competing families; the rising threat of the Others, who dwell beyond an immense wall of ice that forms Westeros' northern border; and the ambition of Daenerys Targaryen, the exiled daughter of a king who was murdered in another civil war fifteen years before, to return to Westeros and claim her rightful throne. As the series progresses, the three story lines become increasingly interwoven and dependent upon each other."
"Game of Thrones is an American fantasy drama television series created by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss for HBO. It is an adaptation of A Song of Ice and Fire, a series of fantasy novels by George R. R. Martin, the first of which is A Game of Thrones. Set on the fictional continents of Westeros and Essos, Game of Thrones has a large ensemble cast and follows several story arcs throughout the course of the show. The first major arc concerns the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros through a web of political conflicts among the noble families either vying to claim the throne or fighting for independence from whoever sits on it. A second focuses on the last descendant of the realm's deposed ruling dynasty, who has been exiled to Essos and is plotting to return and reclaim the throne. The third follows the Night's Watch, a military order defending the realm against threats from beyond Westeros's northern border."

Big Wyman
I meant to write my other comment on response to this. I'm another Wyman fan, though Wendel and Wylis are respectable too. I forgot that there's some hints that Wyman is a self insert by GRRM.
There was a passage in the books that was something basically like
I like Wyla's moxie.
Imagine being named after the Manderly river and not even living there (this post brought to you by true patriots of House Peake)
Imagine starting a rebellion that kills a King and still existing as a landed House

Best retort in the series is when hosteen is carying little walder and Wyman saying, “Maybe it’s a mercy, he would have grown up to be a frey.”

You know a house is cracked when they become overweight in the North. Y’know, the place where most commoners and even some lords leave their homes to die in the winter rather than be a burden on their families. Absolute legends.
Northmen are generally described as quite large so no idea where you got that idea from.
They’re like bears. If the spring and summer are good, they’ll be fat and happy. The fact that Winters last for years just means they’ll be big before starving to death if the winter lasts long enough.
@@renaigh
Large doesn’t equal overweight, though. Sure, they pack it on, but it’s periodic at best. It’s like dad bods, large and strong but not exactly to a Manderly level.
@@renaighIt's a known fact that the Manderlys weight is due to the fact they are rich af. It's not common for Northern house lord's to be so fat they are unable to mount a horse.
To be fair the books take place during the end of a long summer so he had many years to get fat.
I like how the manderleys seem like the sort to support the Boltons but instead they might to be the most loyal stark bannermen
They may not have originated from the North, but they are true Northmen at heart!
The Starks gave them a home when they lost everything.
The Manderlys are such an awesome house. I think Wyman and his sons are emblematic of GRRM's ability to write characters that can inspire both revulsion and admiration from the readers and the in-universe characters alike. Wyman gets so much flak from everyone, even his own people. Most great lords carry titles of ridiculous overblown honors, while Wyman get's called lowbrow, schoolyard jibes like "Lord Lard" and "Lord Too-fat-to-sit-ahorse". Despite that, and maybe in part making use of that public image, Wyman pulls off what may be (TWoW pending) the most incredible reversal on the Freys and Boltons to wrest control of the North back into their leige-lord, House Stark's, rightful hands. If The Great Northern Conspiracy is pulled off, I think as a fanbase we need to come to terms with Lord Lard being every bit the political mastermind as the likes of The Spider and the The Mockingbird.
So he’s the Anti-Baron Harkonen. A fat as hell lord who uses he’s tactical genius and cunning for good instead of evil.
"It's not cannibalism if it's a Frey."
- Lord Wyman Manderly, probably.
All hail Wyman Manderly! The King of the Girth!
Lord of the Whales, Protector of the Walruses, Rider of the Iceberg, The THICC, etc.
Lord Wyman Manderly: Maker of Meatpies! The Butch Butcher! the Baker of Freys! The Andal Appreciative, friend of wolves. Long may he feed, on flesh of Freys!
Met her on my CB
Said her name was Mimi
Sounded like an angel
Come to Earth
When I went to meet her
Man, you should have seen her
Twice as tall as me
Three times the girth
I've always liked the Manderlys. They are ambitious, of course, but they are also loyal to the Starks The Starks took them in during their darkest time, and the Manderlys never forgot that. They kept their rituals and customs, which make them unique in the North. So I'm curious what they will do (if the books ever get published)
Don't forget that the Manderlys are at the mercy of the Iron Bank, who are calling in all Westeros's outstanding debts, courtesy of Cersei's drunken stupidity.
They were in the middle of building a fleet of delicious new war ships, but then their benefactors were murdered.
Do we Jon they borrowed that money for the fleet? If they’re rich, having the only true harbor and true city in the north would imply they have money and could have just spent part of their own with the intent of increasing their power being effectively the only master of ships available.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Manderlys are one of the few major houses to not be wiped out after a serious war. Highgarden lost all its Gardeners, the Casterlys are more legend than a real house, and the Reynes make a lovely song.
the peakes.... holy shit those guys are impressive, managed to be on the losing side of every major war post conquest
- fought with the gardeners at the field of fire (and lost their lord)
- supported the greens in the dance and got absolutely smashed at tumbelton
- then barely survived uwnin peake (great name btw) and his abuse of Aegon III's regency
- Supported first and second blackfyre rebellions
- rose against the iron throne and killed Maekar I, Ser Tywald Lannister and Lord Robert Reyne
all that and somehow they're still alive as a house
@@hypershadow6997 that worse then the Bolton's at least the Bolton's were loyal for thousand years before turning traitor and only in the most fucked time for there house but the peaks can't seem to be loyal for 2 seconds
King of the North
‘I’m giving you the Wolf’s Den this will either be hilarious or inspiring. Either way, best of luck, welcome to the North. And yes it’s ALWAYS cold.’
I remember reading Fire and Blood, that everyone seems to have a great time whenever they're in White Harbor. Aside from one or two plagues, but those happen sometimes
"You fool, you only cut my first chin."
- Lord Wyman Manderly, probably.
One of my favourite northern houses. They have the fierce loyalty trait of a northerner, but have the political savviness of a southerner. The Boltons and Freys never stand a chance.
Can you imagine, working hard planning one of the biggest progress in history
Only for it to get canceled last second
House Mandery is actually one of my favorite houses from the books and of course my favorite Mandery is Lord Too Fat to Sit a Horse. Such an interesting family & House history. I like the whole idea of the city of White Harbor and Davos along with Wyman & the MANNIS are going to retake Winterfell in my humble opinion. Also, can you possibly do a video on House Sunderland in the future? I believe Theon's mother hailed from The Sisters. Great animated video as always and hoping to catch a livestream soon! Just been so busy with work fml
I don't think she does. It's condusing because there is a house Sunderland...and a house Sunderly!
I LOVE ANIMATED HISTORY!!!!
5:55 Man that throne is huge. We're going to need more swords, like a whole storm's worth.
Willas thought on learning he's being brought back to Harrenhall as prisoner,
"Gods dammit, not again!"
😆
I did not know that Mushroom went to White Harbor and I find this exciting. What are you doing up there bud. You know a lot of juicy Targaryen secrets. Who you gonna tell them to.
I like Wyman (though little wylla is a close second)
I love hos undying loyalty to the starks and how he doesn't buy any of freys bs
Wolf's Den was house Greystark (a cadet branch of house Stark) castle. They were extinct by the time of the Manderly exodus.
This was SO GOOD thank you
This is some awesome video mr Haven!
your animation is getting really great! keep it up my man.
Fantastic video mate, more house histories would be great!
Great work!
Your channel is amazing. I hope you make more great videos.

Great video dude! A History of House Bolton video would rule!
These are so good
This last part is more interesting than I thought
Can’t wait to get there in the books
I’ve been missing these kinds of videos
You know, I'm starting to like this better than the actual Game of Thrones show
The tale of a loyal vassal strikes true in a story of betrayal and butchery.
your artstyle is flawless.
And now we're wondering when we're going to get a Fire and Blood Part 2. I think it's the same answer to the question of when will we get the Winds of Winter. Never
We’ve gotten conflicting report that Winds of Winter has been put to the side to finish part 2, and that he want to finish WoW before finishing part 2. So realistically they’re probably being worked on at the same time, slowing both down even more.
@@SpottedHaresOr maybe he is working on neither of them
They may have been upjumped weasels in the reach, but the manderlys became cunning wolves in the north.
Wyman is my favourite character from Ice and Fire. (And GoT of cause, outstanding performance there)
Amazing video!,
I thinck you should do a live stream ranking all the manderly
D&D really looked at the manderly's and said "yeah cut them off..one samll chameo is enough"
At least that stopped them from ruining Lord Too Fat To Ride A Horse
I love some Pie at a wedding, though there’s always a Frey to get the first slice
This episode was as juicy as Renly's peach. Thank you Timely Lord Haven
Well….that’s an image.

A good video May-Haps I will watch
My favorite house for years now.
People who don't read ASOIAF: Lol its the Big Chungus of Westeros
Wyman Manderly: Sure, let them think I'm the Big Chungus of Westeros. They'll never see me coming
"Thru the power of sheer neck blubber, Wymann survives...." Thats was a good LOL!
Where do you get all this info? I love your videos they are so well backed.
I would love to a video about the Lannisters or Tullys in the same fashion as this one :)
House Royce is a great one!
excellent
Oh look, the Frey guy made another video!
ALL HAIL THE POWER OF NECK BLUBBER!
1. thing you missed is its strongly hinted they ruled over the shield islands. 1.5 their house symbol, is only used by sea people not rivermen(houses that are on rivers).
2. the minting of the silver coins is very important, when arya is blind she finds coins with new faces from a young dead teenager, thats robert bastard before he left the north he was given 30/50 silver coins, mostly with Robb's face on them.
3. the 3 freys are alive not dead they were taken to littlefinger , at LF touney.
@@stupidminotaur9735 Pretty sure 2 and 3 are not confirmed anywhere
@@mr.fahrenheit2157 eh., i know, but they make sense. the frey bring alive is part of FL deds scheme theory.

Lett's Goo!!
Is it possible About the house of manwoody, I would just love to know more about the founder who killed a king
Wyman Manderly IS that guy
AH, I LOVE THE MANDERLYS. They’re so COOL.
i rekon he might declare for rickon no doubt stannis will probably try to force the manderlys to accept the red god which after their relgious freedom under the starks they probably say NO to
I could have sworn the merman banner was White habor.
What is 7:27 referring to?
Ser Wylis title should be 'The Humble Hostage'
This video is peake
That’s funny I’ve never heard anyone call GRRM, Germ
whoop whoop Tyrell!!!
Wylla Manderly is my favorite
Viserys I Targaryen, Garth the X so basically westeros should have an age limit for their kings
Jaehaerys THE OLD KING (imagine getting so old it becomes a title). Had he been retired from the throne before the death of Aemon, there would have been no inheritence issue.
The best pork pie you've ever tasted savor ever bite i know i shall. Singer give us a song about the rat cook
💯
I feel like the Manderlys were the family that the Hightower lord set aside for a andal princess and the North took them in. I mean their hair color are blonde and are good at trade and such
Algormancy!
Manderly Thanos grind
Def. the best house in the North (right after the Starks ofc)
This animated Story ist very good maybe ITS because ITS Like History a told Story
We don't talk about the pies
9:40 Symond's wife's handmaid was so seductive that even the fools nose grew twice it's size.
👀
Its called the teach cause all the lords overreach
The only answer is fiery little Wylla
So much grief in Westoros would have been avoided if these idiots had conceptualized adoption
The late lord haven late as always.
Can you blame Garth the X he was seven let's be happy he didn't teade the reach to the storm kings for the westeros version of Pokemon cards, POGs or whatever
Where was the fake sponsorship😢
How did they build White Harbor out of their own broken ass exiled pocket? The starks gave them a low interest loan or did they have their cash on a Summer Islands tax heaven?
Trade, over time.
yeah makes sense but how did they get the funds to kickstart it you know, was there a pawn shop on the white knife or something like that?
@@ramiromen6595They got a place with some good resources from Starks. They likely had trained personnel already, being a noble house with an access to high education before they were driven out. Remember, in this universe, most people can't even read. Education and ability to get more by reading? A good way to start. They were beggars, but given resources, they didn't have to start from the bottom, like some peasant family.
I wonder who was actually in the right
11:11 could say he survived by the skin of his neck
Badum duh
History is written by the winners so my guess is the Peakes are the nastier bunch here.
Spoilers
Oh
I always forget those
The fat horse Wyman is my favorite Manderly.
For a house whose sigil is a merman the Manderlys look more like whales
Freys: “We killed a bunch of highborns that betrayed us by breaking a useless tradition.”
Manderlys: “We killed three of them and fed them to their relatives by being somewhat of hypocrites.”
Fandom: BOO FREYS ARE EVIL but Manderlys are fine.
Freypilled
Imagine being so loyal to a werewolf that killed your son? #JusticeForTheFreys
Well we do learn from Old Nan and the rat cook that breaking guest right is literally worse than murder and tricking a guy into eating his own son. So by Northman standards, yes house manderly does have the moral high ground
The Manderlys gifted horses to the three frey guests ending the protection of guest right. Granting gifts to guests released Wyman from the rules of guest right. So he's not a hypocrite.
@@germanzepeda2754 It was technically not breaking guest right but it’s a pretty minor detail, I mean hell that would be like if I signed a waiver to never punch a guy until the day was over but then punch him the second it hits midnight.
