They are ruthless but most of the time they try to make the lives of the non noble people less shitty, well, as on their terms as possible but you know...When the people are basically not starving and not dropping dead with sickness I call this a win.
@@visionofsolace8961 Yeah. Every Great House seems to hate the Lannisters by the start of asoiaf except for the Tyrells and the Greyjoys. Tywin's house became strong, but the way he went about it made his family reviled. And now that he's dead, it's all falling apart.
Remember the position they’re in. The Gardener’s were probably much more like the Lannisters. An ancient, proud, wealthy and legendary house whose hubris led to their destruction. Now, these up-jumped stewards who never raised a castle in their lives take over one of the most successful regions on the continent. Over the Gardener’s very powerful, related, ambitious historical vassals. They were moulded in the flames of malcontent and envy which no other great house has had to face. Love helps!
@@realdaggerman105 This is true. They're an upjumped family that became the 2nd greatest House in Westeros 300 years ago. They're sort of like the Freys in that people resent how powerful they are even though they're upjumped. But the Tyrells are much better at PR. I love those guys.
I really despise how the show made Loras into a gay stereotype who slept with every man who could. "When the sun has set no candle can replace it" sums up who Loras is. He's an honorable and devoted man, not a f*ckboy.
The Tyrells probably have the strongest vassals out of any great house, it is actually insane. The Hightowers are ancient, powerful, super rich and rule Oldtown; the Redwynes have the largest navy in Westeros and are rich from trade; the Tarly army is a military powerhouse, the Florents are also super rich, etc. Even some are only begrudgingly loyal (since some view the Tyrells as upjumped stewards) they will answer their liege if called upon. The Tyrells are the most powerful house to be sure.
I’ve been thinking this for a long while too. Like compared to other kingdoms the Tyrell’s have the best bannermen. The others individually have their own good ones, ex: Daynes with Martells, Royces with Arryns, Blackwoods/Brackens with Tullys, Velaryons with Targs, but they’re few in each kingdom. The Tyrells consistently have numerous powerhouses who as you said are usually loyal unless there’s other circumstances, like the Florents.
Also the reach is the second biggest region, only the north is bigger. Thanks to the geological circumstances the reach has the most people and so also the biggest army
In the show, Olenna is by far my favorite Tyrell and my second favorite character overall, just behind the man, the legend, The Lion, Tywin Lannister himself. Honorable mention goes to Stannis, which was my favorite character initially, but the show decided to go off the rails and completely ruin him by converting him into a religious fanatic that burned his only daughter, going against everything he was prior to that point.
Show: Margaery, hands freaking down, no contest. Books: Willas, very annoyed he wasn’t included in the show. Willas, to me, always feels like he’s being set up for something, maybe he’ll join Faegon because He’s friendly with the Martells or save Oldtown from Euron, somehow, or just continue to be a good big brother to Garlan because that story was so wholesome. Side note: Garlan is also very cool, hope he takes back the Shield Islands, I think he could do it. I want all three of them to survive, Martin, please don’t do the Tyrell’s dirty like the show.
Finding out just how interesting and involved the history of House Tyrell was just makes me infinitely more pissed at how dirty they were done in the later seasons of GoT
One interesting pattern for the Tyrells through history is their curious allegiance to the Targaryens. It's not that they "always aside with the dragons" (the dance has them stay neutral); Instead the Tyrells "Never side against a dragon"
I think it is interesting how the tyrells expose the flaws of House Lannister. For example the founding myth of the Lannisters is that they were founded by "Lann the clever", yet they almost exclusively retain their power through wealth and the brute force that comes with it. The Tyrells on the other hand stay true to their roots, and while they play at being knights in shining armor they maintain their power through clever administration and good politics
A perfect animation as always House Peake is the superior House of course, having the skilled knight Lord Gormon Peake loyal to the True Kings Long Live House Blackfyre and The Heroic Lord Haven.
We must not forget that Willas Tyrell's leg getting crippled was a pure accident. Oberyn knocked him off his horse just as is supposed to happen to one of the jousters, but Willas's foot caught in his stirrup as he fell, pulling his horse down onto his leg and crushing it. Had Willas's opponent been basically anyone other than a Dornishman, it would have been lamented as a tragic accident and that would have been the end of it. It is only because it was Oberyn that had knocked him off the horse that Mace and Olenna (but NOT Willas, as Quinn mentions,) have renewed animosity to Dorne, the Martells, and especially Oberyn personally.
One Problem though, Mace supported Renly who had a weaker claim than Stannis and justified it that he has a large army and he is popular because he charmant If Renly won the Iron Throne, he would Set up the precedent that everyone with a claim, a big army and mayhaps popularity can become the next Lord or even King. The recipe for endless Civil war He then Supports the Lannister Regime , for which i don't need an explanation
They easily could have done the PR that Joffrey was a insane usurping bastard (which he is) and that Stannis is a demon worshipper who wants to destroy the Faith making Renly the rightful heir since he's defending Andal Values.
They remind me more of house, Velaryon because both their families receive a position in court notches the individual, but it was like it was part of the inheritance as being a member of the house only one of them be kind to successor to the house they served
I believe Leo Longthorn also took part against the Blackfyre rebels in the Reach during the first Blackfyre rebellion at least according to the World of Ice and Fire book.
To be honest, many european houses have a rose with five petals in their heraldry. I've always found parallels between tje Tyrells and Bohemian noble house of Rosenberg. Both are regarded as southern residing in the most fertile region of the land, are amongst the richest and have ambitions for the throne.
About the Purple Wedding, i dig Preston Jacob theory. Is one of the least insane and better made, with some solid arguments about it. Someone tried to poison tyrion through his pie, and Joffrey, little gluttonous bastard that he was, eat it and die, accidentally and ironically saving Tyrion.
🎵How did a family of Reachmen, sons of the rose, barely stewards 🎵caught in a real tough spot in Aegon's Conquest, 🎵even while their lords were overwhelmed 🎵rise up to be the strongest in the realm?
I don't think it's a good idea to state the Olena and little finger scheme as factual since it's not conformed in the books....excellent video nonetheless 🔥👍🔥👍

I really like the Tyrells, man. They're like the Lannisters, but smart enough to maintain good publicity. They're so OP.
They are ruthless but most of the time they try to make the lives of the non noble people less shitty, well, as on their terms as possible but you know...When the people are basically not starving and not dropping dead with sickness I call this a win.

They’re nothing like the Lannisters. That’s an insult to Margaery and Olenna

Mace the Ace will 1v1 Aegon and name himself king of Westeros (it was revealed to me in a dream)

The Reach is hands down the most OP region of Westeros.
The issue with the Reach I'd say is that it's so large with so many types of vassal that it's really hard to direct them all in the same direction
Also the reach is the second biggest region, only the north is bigger. Thanks to the geological circumstances the reach has the most people and so also the biggest army

I can't decide if I prefer Willas or Garlan, I hope they survive till the end
Willas is the brains, Garlan is the brawn, and Loras is the looks. (Mace the Ace is all of them in one divinely supreme being).
Did we actually "see" Willas yet? Other than other people describing him. I haven't finished the books that are out yet.

Flowers do poorly in flame.
I mean they saw what happened at the filed of fire when the gardeners tried to stand up to the dragons.

I chose the perfect time to get back into ASOIAF lore. Hope both of your channels continue to grow and thrive!
Another great collaboration between the best duo since Ned and Bobby b
Leo sees it all, he's the Lord during the Dance, being only 3 at the start, Lord as well during the First Blackfyre Rebellion, man lived large
Every new video you make becomes a new favorite of mine. Love the animation style mixed with dense lore information. Great content!
A perfect animation as always House Peake is the superior House of course, having the skilled knight Lord Gormon Peake loyal to the True Kings
Long Live House Blackfyre and The Heroic Lord Haven.
The Peakes are sorta impressive just cause they’ve managed to not be exterminated after being on the wrong side of every conflict in Westeros ever
@@realbabyeater it does seem to be a strange skill they have them and the Boltons
damn Mace Tyrell is so much better in the books, show turned one of the most important high lords into a comic relief

That's already the precedent, starting with Aegon 1
House frey is older than Baratheon and tyrell as proper lords yet are hated as the new house round the block for some reason
Because house Baratheon have the Storm King blood, blazon and motto. The Freys are only a minor house with no relevant relations until Walder Frey.
Lord Haven really be living like a Tyrell, Growing Strong! Great video!
Was going to the club an hour before your video was set to be posted and was genuinely upset. W post club video keep up the tgood work

Really like envisioning the Gardeners as very similiar to the tyrells but with darker green hair and dark green eyes
House Blackwood next?
House Tyrell my beloved 😍
2:19 it was Mern IX, not VI like Quinn said
My favourite house! Thank you for this.
...did you just say, "Schroedinger's Loras"? I'm effin dyin' over here lol
You should do the Arryns
I love your collaborations with Quinn! love the video, too
I believe Leo Longthorn also took part against the Blackfyre rebels in the Reach during the first Blackfyre rebellion at least according to the World of Ice and Fire book.
Oooooh, it was Little Finger and him alone that did the deed that killed Joffry. It was Tywin he was after with the lemon cream.
I'm sure when the bells started ringing Peter almost shat his pants.
isnt littlefinger's target tyrion not tywin?
You guys both make great content, keep on keeping on!
great video. would love a video discussing why gthe iron born exsist or explaining either the red viper or high tower
The house that got me into Game of Thrones!
How’d Gareth get a copy of winds and how do I get one.
They totally tricked the gardeners
At 2:24 wjo is the artist that did aegon
I love the Tyrells 😩
I mean, come on. It's difficult to get 100 (let alone 10) scorpions to wait for the rope to be pulled. Someone put alooooot of time into that one.
I always lived the Tyrells ever since they were my team name in a GOT themed Intramurals in my school....
All the cartoon characters are great but Margaery particularly made me giggle.
Oh hey a house with a rose emblem, this reminds me of the defiently not known war of the
And that sigil isn't drawn exactly like a York or Lancaster rose done up in gold at all...

They probably had a backdoor deal with Aegon (probably not Aegon himself but Visenya or Orys) to surrender Highgarden
They did the Tyrell’s so dirty in the show.
Garlan Tyrell FTW
Schrodinger's Loras😂😂😂😂
Hope the Tyrells are able to make it out of the story okay.
Same!
Survive Young Griff's invasion? My bet is that they'll join Young Griff's forces.
You didn't mention Martyn Tyrell who was made the master of coin after the death of Rego Draz.
What was the video game you showed in the beginning of the video? It looked sic
The Queen of Thorns is my favorite
You should do an animated video on the battle of the bastards
You should do a video about the Starks
They will never be published grrm’s heart is gonna implode before that happens
Wonder what the next Video will Be wonderfull Charakter Animation
"Late Lord Haven"
The BEST family
Another banger
Schroedingers Loras 😂😳
0:02
the most convoluted and bs extinction in the entire lore which makes no sense for a house that large
Soooo when are we going to accept the fact that Quin and Fantasy are the same person?
We have another ASX/Glidus situation here?
I missed when this fandom went completely off the rails, I think.
House Lannister next, please.
You really thought that we wouldn’t catch that “one true king” bs when talking about Stannis
YES MARCH ON THE FAITHMACE AND FREE MARGAEEY
Gotta do house's Royce And redwyne someday 😊
Greyjoy next hopefully
Do house karstark or umber great north
It's funny that Loras Tyrrell is a knight of the "rainbow guard"! Especially when you consider what the rainbow flag is associated to today 😂😂🌈
funny enough, grrm actually did not mean for that to happen, which is very funny.
Favorite has to be Willas

Why?
Margerie would've been a Great queen And tomnen a king in time.
What's your favourite tyrells and why?
Good video definitely improved my opinions of the tyrells overall but mace and his spawn are all schemers or worse
