Let's Play Myst III: Exile - Part 30 of 34

- Saavedro's three "monitor" messages found within in the three Lesson Ages are not assigned to specific Ages. Rather, the order the messages are displayed is always the same regardless of which buttons are initially pressed. This creates a distinct parity between these monitor messages and the ones played in the J'nanin observatory.
In the first observatory message, as well as the first monitor message, Saavedro introduces (who he thinks is) Atrus to the revised Lesson Age course. He spitefully taunts Atrus about the long road ahead, but cannot hide the pain he feels from the past.
In the second set of messages, Saavedro spews angry diatribes against Sirrus and Achenar and recounts the horrible betrayal he suffered at their hands. He exhibits both fear and despair due to the unknown fate of his family.
In the third set of messages, Saavedro adopts a more pensive demeanor. His goal is to convince Atrus to restore Narayan to its original unspoiled state, so now he ponders the notion of rewriting Ages. His stance on the subject wavers between apparent knowledge that Atrus has the ability ("Atrus, I'm not you") and sincere doubt that the feat is even possible.

This by far is my favorite Age out of all the Ages in the Myst series, I love to hear the thunder in the background
Wow i didn't expect part 30 for another week :O Thanks for the vids again they're awesome!
wow! thank you uploading this - even being New Years' Eve!!
Aww, but the triumphal music for that Age was so good! :(
Also, add another vote for introducing this ride to the real world. That looked AWESOME.
And happy new year, Shady!
this island is at first a seemingling disconnected bunch of puzzles; but, the solution is quite satisfying. Exile III is kind of under rated Myst game.
I'm not sure if it was intentional, but I like to think at 14:17 this was a quick nod to Cyan, Inc. who were the makers of the first two Myst games!
I mean, you ARE in a crystal/blue ball going through a C which is exactly what their logo looked like back then..
Granted the C is backwards, so maybe I'm reading too much into it
Someone went further with that by plastering "NAY" next to that backwards C, in a video of this ride, while the scene was synced to Blur's "Song 2", don't ask me why.
I love youtube. YOu can find anything you want!!! I came here for the ride and I was not dissapointed! Thank you sir...!! :)
Awesome video!
And Happy New Year!
Funny thing is, for being the last puzzle in Amateria, it's fairly easy.
Sometimes I start up Exile and only play through Amateria because it is my favorite age in the entire Myst series (with Riven being a close second).
This is why Amateria is my all-time favorite Myst age.
Happy New Year Shady. :)
Awesome, Another quick update! Thanks Shady!
At 16:13, I believe the red track you saw there was if you pressed a different button than the blue one, then the crystal ball would have rolled off into the ocean using that. Although, I can't imagine which button would do that, since two go to separate puzzles, which means the whole bridge wouldn't have risen, and one goes to the bridge itself.
Seriously, there should be a real life virtual rollercoaster ride for that. It would be so epic.
Years ago, me and my brother thought the symbol looked like a car with a fruit for a wheel.
@SpaceShuttleG Yeah, and all the doors that it slams through when it goes in and out of the building... That crystal's fragility definitely seems slightly inconsistent
I wonder how that chair returns to the top of the building... maybe there's a secret reset button on the island, and only Atrus has the key
I noticed two games knocked off a few elements from Exile. Aura: Fate of the Ages blatantly copied some of the architectual features from Voltaic for its mechanical/mountain world "Dragast". RHEM 1 used some of the patterns in the track spinners here for a type of water/power circuit maze.
happy new years man
This was my fave level of Myst III. However the puzzle was a b---h to solve! I'm surprised that you didn't include roller coaster sound effects while you were going down the track. ;0)
"While you buckle up and enjoy the ride"
Me, naively: What ride, we're just going to watch the ice ball go down the track, aren't we- (13:03 happens) Yoooo that was awesome! We were finally the ball! :D
They have to make a virtual reality Myst game! They just HAVE to!
9 years later...
You got it!
These ages all look to be created for one-time uses :P
Shady, next time if there's gonna be heavy motion in this game, please warn the game players that get motion sickness easily
*WARNING* The rollercoaster part of that game is not for the feint of heart or for people who get motion sickness easily. If you feel like you're gonna get motion sickness, please go to Shady's video # 31. If you are one of those people who don't get motion sickness, please continue watching Shady's video #30. :)
RollerCoaster HELL
13:00
Best sequence, ever!
i've always thought it looks a little silly the way the walkways fling up so fast.
So a few soundwaves can destroy this sphere, but a 10 meter drop (+the rest of the ride) can't?......
12:59 - ShadyP's Last Words before the Crazy Ride
13:05 - Let The Ride Begin!
13:29 - The ACTUAL Ride Begins (HOLD ON TO YOUR HATS!)
"The one thing he remembered about Tamra is that she had big-"
No!
"-poofy-"
Huh?
"-red-"
What?
"-hair."
Oooohh... hair.
@zswords I try excersising my stomache before going a theme park. It helps.
That is the most action you will see in a myst game! xD
dude someone should make a rollercoaster like that and instead of a car thing its a ball you ride!!!:D
Was the only one who felt a bit of motion sickness, there?
a ride you say giggedy
There's no way to copy it though, due it being pre-rendered.
wheres part 31???
*GASP* need 31 pleas just one more
not... a big... roller coaster fan... that was... you jerk, needed more warning next time...*grabs bag and walks away*
Whee!
