Tom Petty and The Heart Breakers!!!! Love Tom Petty, his songs are so great!!!! I listen to him all the time.. He rocks that guitar!!! Great dancing music!!! 💃 💃💃💃...🎶🎶🎶.. 🌹🌹🌹....
This is possibly one of the GREATEST guitar solos ever played in a live concert! Mike Campbell simply shreds that guitar solo, amazing artistry! Tom Petty was one of the great ones, RIP.
Oh yeah......this and Mark Knopflers' solo on Telegraph Road live (around 1987) along with David Gilmours' Comfortably Numb solo live at Pompeii I can listen to daily and never tire of hearing. Campbell, Knopfler and Gilmour at the absolute peaks of their respective careers.
A band is only good as it sounds live in concert. This is my absolute favorite performance. I always cry at the end because I know how his final story ends. A part of the world died when Tom Petty drew his last breath. RIP you beautiful man. You went out on top.
He passed away from heart disease by medicating himself because he would not take time off to have his knee surgically replaced. A disservice to his fans, his family and his little granddaughter.
That is the only thing that matters is being alive and contributing to the good of it all , and nobody has been able to do that better than the Legend that will Always be Tom Petty and rather have a few smiles in his honor than crying because he left to wander....So wherever they have gone the best thing to do is crank every single song and the rest is my kind of PEACE ☮️☯️💟
Benmont Tench is a great keyboard player ! I hope you've heard him sing The Old Man Down The Road ( John Fogerty song ) on Italian . It was on a videotape they released in 1989. So was the song called I'm Stupid .
I used this song for my son's High School Football team's "Running Highlights Reel", and I got grief for it - 13 years ago. Now as the boys and parents are older guess what!? EPIC i'm told. RUclips stripped it of course, but I still have it on my hard drive and will post to VenMo this year. It stands the test of time and will do so 50 years from now!!! Petty running down a heavenly dream. Mike Campbell!!! Props!!!
One day my two teenage boys were driving with their mother. She likes pop and more current music and she was scanning through the channels when both boys said, "That's Tom Petty, go back." I can die knowing I did one thing right in raising my boys.
We miss you, Tom. You knew how to rock and roll like few can- it's impossible not to start tapping your foot, playing fake drums, singing... you make people happy. love, earth
Great song and one of the greatest rock guitar solos driven hard by one of the most in pocket drummers out there, Steve Ferone. Never get tired of listening to this!
I'm 68 this year and Petty was my last big rock show. Campbell ripped this solo out and brought the house down in Vancouver in 2017 and nothing was ever the same again. 🌠
I was lucky enough to meet him in the very early days, 1979 I think. And he was nice! And polite with this amazing south Florida drawl. I was so in awe that I barely said a word.
Patricia Carberry-Harris You’re so fortunate to have met him. I’ve only observed his modest, non-pretentious character through old videos. What precious talent behind those blue eyes!
I can remember driving past the exact spot in Melbourne in 1990 when I first heard it on the radio and pulled over to the side of the road to listen. Bought the tape for my Ute the next day…RIP Legend
EVERY time I see this video I get goosebumps...to see these guys pack out the house and give those fans everything there is to give. And the appreciation those same fans is well evident.
Awesome freaking band. Timeless music with fantastic musicians, each and every one. The keyboard player and guitar player Mike Campbell are highly underrated. Tom Petty is the best. Always so cool and calm
I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one that gets goose bumps still to this day when I hear this song especially when mike Campbell plays his bit lol such an iconic group FANFRKNTASTIC ! LOL " TALK ABOUT PERFECTING THERE CRAFT " OMG ! AND STEVE FERRONE ON THE DRUMS AMAZING"' ......MUSIC AT ITS FINEST !
My favorite song by Tom ..incredible live version. The performance is absolutely perfect. The guitar solo is the best that I've ever heard as far as feeling an emotion .........I've never heard better, truly a great live solo by Mike Campbell.I've never said a live performance was perfect ever before but I'm saying it about this song this performance, absolutely perfect!
Saw him at his last concert in Toronto..3 months later he would be dead...it was heads above the best concert i was ever at in my life...a magical night.
This song is a rip-snortin barn-burner. What a good time. I used to wish that solo went on 3x as long. Now I realize its power is that it is perfect, has everything it needs, nothing it doesn’t, and what there is of it is so perfect it just leaves you wanting more. Well done m80s.
This is my favorite petty song thanks to the ripping solo of Mike Campbell. Watching this it just seems unbelievable that Tom is gone. Tom thanks for all the great music.💗🎸🎵
I mean what more can anyone say about this once in a lifetime Dude? He loved his fans, worked hard to give them a thrill even though he was in severe pain from Joint issues. I saw him limp off stage the last show I saw. This man was Incomparable! Man!! We sorely miss this Dude. And I don't cry easily!!!
My husband and I would play this song, every Friday night before we went out to our favorite beach bar. He died this week. The day after, I was standing in line at the Target pharmacy, waiting to pick up a prescription. This song came on. I don't remember ever hearing music in Target before. I think this was his way of contacting me. We were married 58 years.
It is possible for sure....There was a connection of some kind going on there. I'm sorry you lost your husband. 58 years!! You are luckier than most but take that and 50 cents and it still won't get ya a cup of coffee right?
I'm super glad that my 37 year old son was able to be at the Gator game when they played his music as a tribute to him. The boy recorded it for me. He was 9 years old when he first heard him in the car. Great stuff man. Tommy P will always be a hero of mine. Still running down the dream.
It's easy to come back and listen to one of the best entertainers in Rock History,, Thanks Tom and company.. Saw him in Austin 'round 82.. Very professional as always, but he had fun..

One of the best rock song EVER
PS I was married to a drummer and not a day goes by that I miss him
Oh yeah......this and Mark Knopflers' solo on Telegraph Road live (around 1987) along with David Gilmours' Comfortably Numb solo live at Pompeii I can listen to daily and never tire of hearing. Campbell, Knopfler and Gilmour at the absolute peaks of their respective careers.
There never was nor will be anyone like Tom Petty and his dedication to his extraordinary band proves it ,,, could go on and on ,
I have to agree. Awesome solo
Rest In Peace and here's hoping wherever you're at they speak with a Southern Accent
A band is only good as it sounds live in concert. This is my absolute favorite performance. I always cry at the end because I know how his final story ends. A part of the world died when Tom Petty drew his last breath. RIP you beautiful man. You went out on top.

Me too. By the time we get to the end of that guitar solo I’m rocking out, and wiping away tears. RIP Tom Petty
This is an awesome song. Used sing along to it in the 80's such a great song.❤
Mike Campbell's guitar solo is one of my favorites in any song.
Played this song at my late husbands celebration of life ceremony 2010 , he loved Tom Petty! Miss you Tom and Keith (my late husband) married 30 yrs ❤
I swear in close up after song when he's thanking the audience he's tearing up....dedication n gratefulness at work
Hi Kenny, how are you doing today
The piano parts are so killer on this song! I think the piano is one of the many little things that make the Heartbreakers so unique!
Listen carefully....keyboards are actually a big thing in a lot of heartbreakers tunes.
Love this tune ❤
@@barbaraberg2393 Check out "It's Good to be King" from the same concert. Amazing keys, twin lead solos and drums. Best version ever.
Benmont Tench is a great keyboard player ! I hope you've heard him sing The Old Man Down The Road ( John Fogerty song ) on Italian . It was on a videotape they released in 1989. So was the song called I'm Stupid .

One of the greatest bands of all time. Tom Petty was so really talented and he will, and always, be missed.
Yes, he was a real talented rocker, yet seemed happy to be part of the band and not need to have all the attention and accolades.
You are sure Lynn. How are you doing? Hope all is well with you there
Still missing his music.
missing his music and his biggest fan, TP and Johnny Spil R.I.P.
“I feel like a forgotten man”
Great song and one of the greatest rock guitar solos driven hard by one of the most in pocket drummers out there, Steve Ferone. Never get tired of listening to this!
Thanks, didn't know his name but, yeah; he is killing it here ..
I'm 68 this year and Petty was my last big rock show. Campbell ripped this solo out and brought the house down in Vancouver in 2017 and nothing was ever the same again. 🌠

Early ‘80’s saw TP & the Heartbreakers at Red Rocks Amphitheater, Denver, CO, when tickets were all General Admission (General Riot). Got there before gates opened and grabbed 15 rows from stage in the middle. Amazing sound and playing live they sounded exactly like their Damn the
Torpedoes lp record.
This has got to be the best live version of this song ever. RIP Tom you were one of the great ones.
This is from the 30th-anniversary show and tour. It was recorded in Gainesville, Florida, Tom’s birthplace, and hometown. I was in about the 25th row on the floor. I was also two grades behind Tom at Gainesville High School. This is also my favorite-ever TPATH song!
