- More of a "Top 10 Disappointing Movies" list, but as Hollywood will never stop churning out disappointing garbage in the name of making a buck, I figure I might as well rank the ones I saw in 2021.

Props to you man for taking care of your dad. My own father has heart issues and having family makes a difference. Don't feel afraid to get home health if things get difficult. Caregiver burnout is a real thing. Keep up the good work man.

Venom and Black Widow are excellent examples of where I watched, being aware the reviews were 'fine' but I emerged at the end and had that little voice saying "That was a bit shit"

I can relate, last year my mum got a virus that hospitalised her and in that process they picked up blockages in her heart. She had to have an emergency triple bypass. It was the scariest time of my life. If she didn't get the virus, her severe condition might not have been picked up in time. Something like that really does make you grateful for your loved ones and for the uncanny way the universe can look after you. So it was very touching to know the channel and the people watching your videos assisted your family in some way. Sending you and your family much positivity and well wishes.
Hi Jeremy, my dad is a doctor and had a stroke this year. His and our lives completely changed, he went from being an incredibly smart able-to-do kind of person to someone who can now barely walk and form a sentence. It is incredibly amazing how much our lives can change in an instant, and someone’s health cannot be taken for granted. I appreciate your content, which helps keep me moving forward. I’m happy to hear your father is doing well.

Thanks for sharing that, Jeremy. My dad also had a heart attack earlier this year. Interestingly, I didn't find out that he had had a heart attack until a few days afterward--what makes this interesting is that I kept feeling that week like I should call my dad and check on him, like something was wrong with his heart. And it turns out that that feeling was right. Fortunately, he's alright now.
But yeah, if you have loved ones, definitely give them a call, bad feeling or not.

you know im having trouble thinking of any genuinely disappointing movies this year. maybe i just avoided the ones i suspected would be bad? so in lieu of a big disappointment ill suggest everyone check out one that very pleasantly surprised me - though i think it may have come out last year - the empty man. very ambitious, intense, deeply interesting horror movie that deserves a cult following.

Earlier this year my mum permanently lost part of her vision and just recently we found out she has bowel cancer. Ive packed up, quit my job to move back home with her temporarily to help her through this tough time.
Makes you think about the greater picture and that loved ones arent here forever. Thanks for your story and im glad your dads is on the mend.

Mad props to you. I know it’s difficult to give up your own life to take care of others…even if it’s your parents. I did something similar. I moved from the city back to my small town, living out in the middle of nowhere, 2 years ago to take care of my parents. We lost my mom almost a year ago in January 2021. I’m now helping with my dad. He’s 87 but still pretty self sufficient so I’m able to live next door. I think the thing I miss the most from the city is the Internet. We have horrible internet. Just a crappy DSL and satellite. Makes everything so much harder. I really hope your mom gets better and pulls through all this. I miss mine everyday.
My grandmother died from a Covid induced heart attack two weeks ago and so I feel for you when it comes to your father and the toll this year has extracted. Your videos have been a source of strength for many, myself included and so know that we don’t take you for granted either. Thank you for all that you do, because it is positive and it does help.
I'm so sorry for your loss. My grandmother passed away last April(unrelated to covid) and never got to have a proper memorial due the shut down at the time.
my granddad is in hospital now, they moved him from one hospital to another with out telling us and then took us 4 days to get an answer after being repeatedly put through to his ward only to be told yeah he's OK, no new updates and we can't say when we think he will be coming out or tell you anything other than he's sat up and eating ..how cruel is it that you can't visit ..not allowing you to speak to him on the phone along with basically telling you nothing except he's doing OK..I feel for all the ppl that have lost family members or died alone because the hospital says u can't see them...pathetic and wrong...sorry you going through this guys...things like this shouldn't be allowed to happen its not like covid is highly deadly and must be contained at all costs .. Xmas in hospital alone is horrible 😞

I’m sorry about the passing of your grandmother. I lost my grandmother in November while she was in hospital suffering from cancer, but it was a stroke which took her in the end. People often have the attitude that because it’s a grandparent and losing them eventually is something we all will experience, it’s not a big deal. But when you’re super close to your grandmother like I was with mine, it hits super hard. It’s currently taking a big toll on me now but we all support each other as a family to get through it.
Your content is very much appreciated, especially during this slow time. You’re the only reviewer whose reviews matter to me, I guess that’s because you remind me a lot of a good friend of mine, who’s very passionate about films, like you, and works in the industry. You two would get along, I’ve always secretly wished that would happen.
My son (3yrs old) was diagnosed with cancer in 2020 and I feel for you and your dad ❤️ it’s such a scary crazy time to be going through any medical with all the worlds ups and downs but I’ve been watching your videos for years now and now will be a subscriber for life. I agree that Black Widow should have come out years ago, but other than that and a disappointing Task Master I really enjoyed it! I loved the family dynamic and Yelena was awesome. I'm looking forward to getting around to Hawkeye mostly because of her.

@@ASD_BERSERKER Yeah, I really don't like the argument that it being released too late, is it's biggest problem. The problem is that nothing in the movie works. It assassinates it's main character, which means that we don't care what happens to her (even IF we didn't know she was gonna die anyway), and all the new character suck. Yelena is a total waste of a character (She should've been like Bucky in this, with severe social issues and PTSD). People don't actually like Yelena, they like Florence Pugh. Alexei is like the worst dad ever. Melina is like a horrible monster. The villains are shit, the comedy is shit, and the action is shit. The plot is as broken as Natasha's nose. The only thing that's good about it, is the music, which is actually pretty damn good, most of the time. It's a 2/10 movie, and is in the Top 5 worst things in the MCU, together with Eternals, Captain Marvel, Loki, and Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
I'm really sorry to hear about your dad but I'm glad he was revived and I lost my dad at the beginning of the year actually a couple of days before my birthday due to a heart attack. I took care of my dad for the past 7 years and he passed in January on his birthday. I wouldn’t change those 7 years because I spent them with him.

My biggest disappointment of the year was Black Widow. Too little too late, and extra boring. Didn’t like it at all. I haven’t seen Matrix Resurrections because cinemas where I live are closed because of the Covid surge and your review is quite what I expected ! Thats so great to hear. My father is very attached to me and since I've been gone for grad school and because my dad smokes he had a stroke a couple months ago when I wasn't home. I'm very glad my mom was there for him but I can relate to feeling like you need to drop everything or delay work. Your videos always make me happy hope your dad lives on. Here's to a better year!

I just wanted to say, your story hit home really hard for me.
Last year on Christmas Eve, my dad had a stroke and it was lucky, because my mum was around to get him to the hospital.
I was visiting, but wasn't with them at the time, they were out shopping.
My dad thankfully didn't have any long term affects and fast forward all this time, he can walk on his own (if a bit slower)
Now I live with the both of them, because mum has essentially taken up the role of carer, whilst I take care of all of the house work and whatever needs to be done and stuff, so she doesn't burn out and get too exhausted all of the time.
Things like that really suck, I hope you guys are doing okay now. Mad props for taking care of your dad and I'll always be here to support you and your channel.

I know I'm late to this video, but I just wanna say, that I understand your need to take care of your dad. I lost my grandpa (who basically raised me) at an unexpected young age from what we assume was a terrible stroke this year, and it broke my heart that I wouldn't be able to spend any more time with him, and it still affects me today. So seriously man, take all the time you need for your dad, I'm sure we will all be here to watch your stuff and help you along on this weird journey of life. My grandmother died 7 months after my mother. I called her everyday and told her not to grieve over my mother too much. She died anyway which I was trying to prevent. Good on you that your dad is fine

It’s a little heart warming knowing everyone has these crazy harsh reality situations. I got a call last month that my died passed away. He was away at the time and I’m just glad I got the chance to tell him I loved him the last time we talked. Really glad your Dad is well, makes life feel a lot more valuable when we have to deal with these things.

I felt like Venom, Cruella, and Black Widow were definitely disappointing, but I still found them fun to watch. The number one pick was so terrible that I couldn't make it a quarter of the way through the movie before I quit it and have had zero regrets in doing so. Thanks for another great video Jeremy.

I feel for you Jeremy, it can be very scary. My grandma became more reclusive when we got terrible news last year. It's hard trying to care for someone who doesn't appreciate any of it. I hope your dad is doing all right.
101 Dalmatians has always been one of my favorite Disney movies. Ever since I can remember. I think I dressed up as a dalmatian for Halloween at least 3 years in a row when I was a kid. Knowing that, you should be able to understand how much I hated Cruella. I was so unbelievably angry by the end of it, that you could practically see the smoke coming out of my ears. I actually avoided watching it for the longest time, because I couldn't fathom how they could possibly make such an irredeemably evil character like Cruella sympathetic while still making the original story make sense. Well that's easy. They didn't. Everything that happens in Cruella completely negates the original storyline of 101 Dalmatians. So it doesn't even need to happen, based on how Cruella ended. None of it made any sense. I could right an essay on how insulting this movie is to the legacy of 101 Dalmatians. It felt like a slap in the face to all old Disney fans.
Why can't we have more movies that are just about having fun watching bad people do bad things? Spending two hours watching Emma Stone camp things up while fucking with the fashion world would have been glorious. Trying to make Cruella sympathetic just sucked the fun out of it.

It would have been better of her origin story was she got taken in by an evil fashion designer who teaches her the tricks of the trade, she gets absorbed into the main fashion world and seeks to become the best and usurp her, and she sees a dalmation and...light bulb!
I completely agree with ya and its the reason I've avoided seeing this movie at all. I love the original & I hate the fact that Disney and other Hollywood movies are having some villains be more sympathetic since it just makes the story worse in my opinion, however there are exceptions. Cruella is NOT one of them she's an evil character that likes to kill animals.....how do you make that person a hero? Answer...you don't, plain and simple.
In my opinion, they should have made her mom be Cruella and kept her as Cruella’s daughter.

Mortal Combat was the only movie on this list I actually saw - yep, it deserves to be on this list just for how disappointing alone it was. The trailer gave me so much hope :(

How was it disappointing? As a longtime fan of Mortal Kombat I thought it was good with some small nit picks, one being that Cole's ability was literally just plot armor, other than that it was fine.
Rewatching this at the end of 2022. Talking about your dad's condition hit me kinda hard. This year I lost both my granddads and almost lost a grandmom. Lost my mom in 2014, so taking care of grandmom is on me and my sister. It's been tough but family is key to getting through tough times. God bless you and your dad and praying all is well with your dad.

We don’t always see eye to eye on every movie, but I was so glad to see The new Mortal Kombat movie making the list. GOD I hated that movie, it was such a chore to watch, and apparently it’s an unpopular opinion. Like how?? I feel like I took crazy pills. Looking forward to a new year and new reviews, Jeremy. If Jeremy has proven anything on his channel to me, it's that his fandom for franchises and movie series does NOT mean he's going to turn his brain off and just mindlessly enjoy any shitty remake or sequel that Hollywood shits out these days. I think the Star Wars Sequels got him to really turn that around because ever since he made all of those Star Wars videos he's been a much different critic, in a good way.

no way. i thought eternals was the best mcu movie of this year. the visual is the best mcu ever had so far. dune visual was good but the story was freaking boring and the characters were bland

Getting real...I lost both my parents in the same year 5 years ago...and it doesn't get any easier...that line is bullshit. I miss them every single day. I watch their grandchildren playing in my yard and imagine the experiences they missed by never knowing their great grandparents long enough to have learned and laughed with them. Thank you for getting real...don't ever think that those of us that watch you religiously don't know that you're human first.

I agree, “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” was so messy and felt so rushed it was basically racing to it’s ending leaving very little story and character development behind it.
I agree as well. As someone who enjoyed the first Venom movie just fine, it felt like Andy Serkis and everyone involved were on a very tight leash by the studio and, although I admire them for wanting to cut the bullshit, get rid of any exposition and get to the point, the 90 minute runtime fely incredibly rushed with no time to breathe or develop its characters.
Sucks considering they wanted to do a movie with Carnage for years just for them to half ass it
The entire movie was completely useless, it's sad that they cared more on the post credit scene instead of the entire movie
