Many people lost years of hard work when they're businesses went under because they literally weren't allowed to do business too. Had a friend that worked at an auto glass shop since high school for nearly ten years to gain enough funds to open up his own tire shop. All that work gone in a year, lost his shop and he's still not recovered because of that damn lockdown. Imagine owning your own business and being forced to go back to working for someone else through no failures of your own.

The virtue signaling of celebrities back during the 2016 Presidential season was my last straw. I was already slowing growing disinterested in films and TV due to the decline in quality as everything became more derivative, but when narcissistic millionaires lecture me about politics and social issues like they are the arbiters of all that is good, true and proper I tuned them out for good. And lo and behold, since then they only got worse, movies got worse, TV got worse. As long as they continue their trend of shallow virtue signaling, I will continue to walk away with my middle finger raised high.
On Star Trek TNG in an episode Data mentioned that TV didn't last long into the 21st century. Thought it impossible then, can believe it now.

I work remotely for Warner Bros and even in the state I live in, with its lower cost of living, I need to stretch the wage I make. And now because of idiot actors and untalented writers complaining that their working conditions are "too hard" or that they "don't make enough money", projects are being cancelled and us lowly production staffers are the first thing to get axed. We're getting bitter. I LOVE film and animation, which is why I got into this industry, but man it's full of BS right now.

I haven't given Hollywood the time of day for the past 15 years or so, not only do I not go to the theatre but I completely avoid their product on streaming services. I have been watching foreign films and dramas, kdrama primarily. It has been delightful to study other countries through their entertainment. Best of all I can forget how Hollywood has betrayed the American people.
the producers and executives at networks have openly publicly admitted in interviews over the past 10 years that the whole reason for shows like Will & Grace in the 90s and all sorts of interjected ideological bullshine shoveled down our throats on network television and movies were to normalize the behavior.
I'm 43 and somehow Seth Rogan who's younger than me looks 10 years old than me. I guess that's the cost of selling your soul.

It's sad what they've done in entertainment. Not just with that subject, but that's what we're talking about. In a not too different alternative universe, a show or movie could be based on a gay man and be generally accepted. "Hollywood" has spent so much time shoving messages down people's throats, a resentment has been built. Eyes roll and you get the "oh, they *_made_* him gay". Without all the throat shoving, I feel like a character could just _be_ gay and be accepted by (at least more of) culture/society. Obviously there are people that will never accept, but I'm not talking about them.

After the first one his partner is a black guy. They just dont make a big deal about it. They dont go "oh look at us being inclusive having a white guy and a black guy working together". Because the 70s was just after the civil rights movement and at that point in time everyone agreed there should be racial segregation and people shouldnt make a big deal of treating each other like equals.

It's amazing how they make these movies where the target audience is less than 10% of the population, then act surprised that no one goes to see it. I'm an IT Project Manager and an expert in CRM (Customer Resource Management) which is just a fancy way of saying building computer systems that calculate demographics for sales and marketing campaigns. Good examples are Salesforce, Meta and Google, which use these analytics and algorithms to target advertising to people. It's as if these modern studios simply ignore all that completely and just make a product that represents whatever little bandwagon they've attached themselves to, thinking in their narcissistic infantile brains that maybe people are stupid and will watch their movie and be instantly brainwashed into believing their nonsense. It's literally the opposite of how most companies function.
They do pay for CRM software, they just pick whichever provider tells them the biggest numbers and then act surprised when it turns out those numbers dont match reality.

Hollywood has failed on *ALL THREE* for the last decade or more. They could produce raw gold and distribute it to the masses, and no one would really care at this point. Hollywood needs to be fired.

There should be no such thing as "movie stars." Movies should be cast with unknown actors. Most of you won't understand the concept, but the world of cinema would end up making masterpieces.

Think of all the unknowns - the actors out there who get turned down for every part because they're not pretty, they're not handsome, they don't have a look or an oddity, they don't have a resume that's impressive, or they aren't connected to a big agency but then, because of all these streaming shows, casting directors are desperate, and people we might otherwise never have known or seen, are showing how talented they are. I think of shows like THE AMERICANS where totally unknown actors were GREAT in their supporting parts. Think of the actress who plays RUTHIE in OZARK....she never could get a job in old mainstream Hollywood. I think we're in the Golden Age now. It has potential to be real art like it used to be during the silent era.

If you look at the best picture nominees that were at the oscars, the writers strike almost worked in people's favor. A lot of smaller, indie, and foreign movies were nominated and they were all great, unique films
You also didn't mention that the theaters are ghost towns now. I just seen the newest Henry cavill movie it yesterday. And there was only 6 people in this theater section I was in.
I made a video that circled that called “death of the Hollywood blockbuster”. Usually when I go to the theater, it’s never busy. There may be one or two other people in the theater with me. The only time this hasn’t been the case for me in recent memory was Barbie and Oppenheimer

I ahem acquired the ministry of ungentlemanly warfare by alternate means and it was about a 5 or 6 out of ten movie. Some nice explosions. The acting was bad. And it was trying way too hard to be Inglourious Basterds, even had a scene that directly tries to emulate the famous scene where Brad Pitt uses the wrong fingers ordering 3 beers, by having the woman sing a word in yiddisch instead of German. Made me cringe. I wouldnt pay to see that movie. I hate to say it, but Guy Ritchie is washed up.
Oof I still cringe so hard watching John Cena’s public apology.
