And on top of that there’s no way the dragon didn’t know the girls it was murdering weren’t actually from the family if the man that originally killed her children they were randomly chosen girls from far away lands that had been sacrificed to it and had NOTHING to do with what happened. Sorry but the dragon was a completely unredeemable character at that point.

Princesses are phisically weak and could not escape the dragon , while peasants would be a lot stronger , have actual survival skills and could potentially escape thus causing trouble for the kingdom

Two things: 1) Elodie has a chest wound on her right side fighting the dragon. She then appears with a scarred chest in the final scenes, but it’s on her left side. 2) Why couldn’t the dragon have baby dragons after the first three were killed?
They could just make her an engineer type of person, make her build a contraption to win the fight. For ages humans used intelligence to overcome strength, but she just goes and beat a huge freaking dragon that a full army of trained soldiers couldn’t beat.
I remember in The Dark Knight Rises when Batman tried to climb out of the pit without his gear and almost died, we then spent a while seeing him train and trying and failing, and finally when he managed to get out, it was symbolic of him overcoming this hurdle and he's Batman, but I guess he ain't got shit on a strong independent woman who don't need no man.
Then people complained that his getting back to Gotham was unrealistic, despite the fact that he was a billionaire with worldwide connections and had just helped 50 guys to the point where they owed him their lives and could likely find a cell phone for him... That criticism frustrates me.

6 years ago critics were happy to witness horrific movies that pushed their agenda and cheered for them with high scores. After 6 (and more) years of shit even they are fed up. The way Elodie discovers the blue bugs, a macguffin so powerful that can heal life-threatening wounds without leaving a scar, and then she tosses them aside until it's plot convenient and then she forgets about them again, is very moronic! Finding a way to breed those bugs in their nation would be invaluable to her people (but not to the plot, apparently).

This whole movie is probably a secret guilty pleasure dream MBB once had since she was 5 and somehow got told a bedtime story about St George and the Damsel so she wanted to be the dragonslayer princess without any consequences. Armour physic is the last thing in her mind.

Y'know, I do have to give this movie some credit: At least showing her chopping wood helps justify how she can handle a sword, because I am so very tired of seeing women who have never lifted a finger in their lives suddenly swinging swords around. Of course they forgot to actually put the actress through any kind of fitness training to build even a hint of muscle, so it falls flat, but y'know...An attempt was made.

I agree it needs more. I would have accepted that if we saw her doing that AND some kind of sword practice. Even just against a dummy or training exercises with her dad. The rough idea doesn't seem to bad at all - but then suddenly we have strong female character. I could have believed cunning or compassionate - but sudden badass sword fighter?
It isn't even an original story - they just reworked the Theseus & the Minotaur myth so that Theseus is a woman & inexplicably joins forces with the Minotaur at the end.
What it could have been: Obvious tomboy princess with actual evidence of her skills and martial prowess uncovers a dark secret of betrayal. What it actually was: This shit.
Movies like this should give us aspiring authors and writers nothing but hope If THIS dreck can be picked up by a studio and given millions of dollars with big actors attached, imagine what they’d give for stuff that was made by those of us that still *actually give a shit* Brothers, sisters, to your keyboards. Somebody pointed out in a comment section how the film would've actually been great had it been the prince that was supposed to sacrifice her that defaulted. Like you can literally see his face at 0:43 is full of doubt and hesitation. Imagine if he had refused to do it, then she had been forced down that hole anyway, and they'd have worked together to allow her to escape. No politics, no McGuffin worms to save the day, no plot armor, no girlbossin'. Just a gritty survival story against an overpowering foe similar to say, Predator from the 80s. It could've worked. It could've been quite unique. And you can leave 90% of the film the same too, hell it would work better. Have the prince and Elodie convince the dragon together that she's been killing innocents, with both their hands as proof. You don't even need to make it end as a love story. Could be as simple as a young man breaking the chain of his family's sins thanks to the influence of a would-be victim. But then we can't have a girlboss, so yeah...
I don't know, that depends on the mechanics of it. Maybe its insides are fireproof but not the outside. The bacteria that live in your lower intestine can kill you if they get into your upper intestine. That's how it works. Or maybe it spits out a liquid that doesn't ignite until it's exposed to the air in the atmosphere, so it's not fireproof at all. Is a flamethrower fireproof because it makes a jet of flame? In fact that's more plausible than a magical creature with a furnace inside of it and magical immunity to flame.
@@justforever96 Most of your proposed mechanisms are irrelevant since if you watched the movie, you'd see the fire is already ignited within its body. You can see the dragons throat glow and exhaust sparks. Having it's interior only fireproof but not it's exterior makes it stupid even more. The gut bacteria analogy is a false equivalence as you're not supposed to move them or breath them out like a dragon with its flame. They are a stationary substance within your body. The flamethrower is also incomparable as it only ignites the flame outside of it. It becomes even harder to justify this stupidity once you consider that there's an insect called the bombadier beetle that shoots out boiling caustic acid which can burn and kill other insects but not itself. Even then, dragons being fireproof have always been a very common trope in fantasy stories. If this movie wanted to go for realism, then it should've have committed to it all the way, not just when it's convenient for the plot.

She became a princess for her people to help them since they were poor and hungry. Marrying the prince would give them money to feed those people. Her rebelling wouldn't have made sense.
The worse thing about this movie is despite how bad the script, story and characters are there is SOME, not a lot but some potential. For one I like the dragons deign, the idea of a princess fighting for her life on the verge of death in a dark cave while being hunted is interesting and prone to some good character development and action. And the scene where the princess (I forgot her name) is drinking water from the icicles and it started to melt faster revealing the dragon was kinda sick. As well as the little notes previous princesses wrote. Some of these ideas are cool. Too bad the people directing this movie suck.

Should point out that, up until the 20th Century, pretty much every marriage of a princess was transactional. Century after century, from Sumer to India to China to Russia and Britain, royal daughters were livestock, traded to foreign leaders to seal alliances and trade deals. This should not be a revelation to any character in any movie.

I think the idea had a lot of potential.. if they had actually workshopped the characters, scrapped the entire script, spent more time on the world, upped the rating, gave her a character arc, made the dragon not talk, made the image more gritty and built up all the relationships it would have been a great ass movie.
Considering Elodie is chopping wood about half a mile from the castle and taking back the bounty one rugsack at a time tells a lot about the worth and general intelligence of her entire kingdom, to be honest :D

5:41 I get why swords get all the glam in fantasy stories, but it’s like thumping your chest and saying “the 1911 won two world wars!” They’re side arms. The real battlefield warfare implement would have been spears, or polearms of some type. If you’re going into a cave after a dangerous creature, you’d bring long fucking spears and have dedicated guys with big ass shields, maybe douse yourselves with water. Shield guys up front, spear guys behind, stab stab stab, call it a day, mission accomplished.

Notice that the scene where she's in the water, the set is less green screen because she has to touch the sides of the pool, etc. but the lair part where she goes up against the dragon, is all green screen, except for the floor. Without at least the base of the pillars to look how they would in the movie, it gives Milly less to picture what the cave will look like, the scale of how big everything is, a more experienced actor or actress who has had a wider range of roles could possibly do a really good job in an environment like this, but Milly is still a young actress and I've noticed that her acting goes up and down depending on how the scenes are and who or what she has to interact with.

Somebody pointed out in a comment section how the film would've actually been great had it been the prince that was supposed to sacrifice her that defaulted. Like you can literally see his face at 0:43 is full of doubt and hesitation. Imagine if he had refused to do it, then she had been forced down that hole anyway, and they'd have worked together to allow her to escape. No politics, no McGuffin worms to save the day, no plot armor, no girlbossin'. Just a gritty survival story against an overpowering foe similar to say, Predator from the 80s. It could've worked. It could've been quite unique. And you can leave 90% of the film the same too, hell it would work better. Have the prince and Elodie convince the dragon together that she's been killing innocents, with both their hands as proof. You don't even need to make it end as a love story. Could be as simple as a young man breaking the chain of his family's sins thanks to the influence of a would-be victim.

I don't know, that depends on the mechanics of it. Maybe its insides are fireproof but not the outside. The bacteria that live in your lower intestine can kill you if they get into your upper intestine. That's how it works. Or maybe it spits out a liquid that doesn't ignite until it's exposed to the air in the atmosphere, so it's not fireproof at all. Is a flamethrower fireproof because it makes a jet of flame? In fact that's more plausible than a magical creature with a furnace inside of it and magical immunity to flame.

The gut bacteria analogy is a false equivalence as you're not supposed to move them or breath them out like a dragon with its flame. They are a stationary substance within your body. The flamethrower is also incomparable as it only ignites the flame outside of it.
It becomes even harder to justify this stupidity once you consider that there's an insect called the bombadier beetle that shoots out boiling caustic acid which can burn and kill other insects but not itself.
Even then, dragons being fireproof have always been a very common trope in fantasy stories. If this movie wanted to go for realism, then it should've have committed to it all the way, not just when it's convenient for the plot.

She became a princess for her people to help them since they were poor and hungry. Marrying the prince would give them money to feed those people. Her rebelling wouldn't have made sense.
The worse thing about this movie is despite how bad the script, story and characters are there is SOME, not a lot but some potential. For one I like the dragons deign, the idea of a princess fighting for her life on the verge of death in a dark cave while being hunted is interesting and prone to some good character development and action. And the scene where the princess (I forgot her name) is drinking water from the icicles and it started to melt faster revealing the dragon was kinda sick. As well as the little notes previous princesses wrote. Some of these ideas are cool. Too bad the people directing this movie suck.

I think the idea had a lot of potential.. if they had actually workshopped the characters, scrapped the entire script, spent more time on the world, upped the rating, gave her a character arc, made the dragon not talk, made the image more gritty and built up all the relationships it would have been a great ass movie.
A six episode series delving into the setting and the characters, building the plot might have been better.
How would that make things better when the writing is influenced by activists?

5:41 I get why swords get all the glam in fantasy stories, but it’s like thumping your chest and saying “the 1911 won two world wars!” They’re side arms. The real battlefield warfare implement would have been spears, or polearms of some type.
If you’re going into a cave after a dangerous creature, you’d bring long fucking spears and have dedicated guys with big ass shields, maybe douse yourselves with water. Shield guys up front, spear guys behind, stab stab stab, call it a day, mission accomplished.

@@DieNibelungenliad So the more green screens there are, the less the actors/actresses have to interact with their environment. Notice that the scene where she's in the water, the set is less green screen because she has to touch the sides of the pool, etc. but the lair part where she goes up against the dragon, is all green screen, except for the floor. Without at least the base of the pillars to look how they would in the movie, it gives Milly less to picture what the cave will look like, the scale of how big everything is, a more experienced actor or actress who has had a wider range of roles could possibly do a really good job in an environment like this, but Milly is still a young actress and I've noticed that her acting goes up and down depending on how the scenes are and who or what she has to interact with.

My wife has rewatched this 6 times. I dont know how she can watch such bad movies. Like i love a bad movie but this movie was meant to be a girlboss flick and failed. Millie is hard to look at and isnt a good actress.
