"There is a big focus on her love story" proof positive that she didn't watch the movie, there is hardly any focus on a love story, it is briefly touched at the beginning and the end, the focus is her surviving the Evil Queen and developing a relationship with the dwarves

Modern filmmakers continually fail to understand that there are different kinds of female strength, and that a woman doesn't need to be a brawler to be a strong character. Even having strong, moral convictions proves a strength of character.

does't that only really work if we were to also tell men that strength doesn't solely rely on their physical prowess? some people regardless of gender often rely on their brains or heart over their brawn.

Yeah, sadly, the original story of an orphaned adolescent girl being emotionnaly / psychology abusedd by her stepmom, managing to keep her kindness / optimism / generosity alive, dreaming that the nice guy she crushes on also loves her, and just kinda trying to survive lots of murderr attemps is not considered heroic enough by a lot of modern filmakers.
Note them : There is not only beauty in inner strenght, but there is also strenght in inner beauty.

Snow White as a story itself has existed for a thousand years with countless adaptations.
although Disney’s Snow White film may not be people’s favorite film or Disney Princess, The film is a historic achievement by Walt Disney and the Nine Old men animators. If this film wasn’t profitable in 1937, The Disney company wouldn’t exist at all. Zegler’s comments discredits the hardwork that went into producing the film.
Another issue at Disney is that they keep remaking their best animated films into live action instead of readapting those that failed the first time; Atlantis, Treasure Planet, and the Black Cauldron.

So about 40 years ago, dating myself I know, I read a full on fleshed out NOVEL based on the fairytale and the move Snow White. It was a library book and so long ago that I couldn't find it again, I have looked over the years. It took the basic story of the King finds a woman and marries her for her beauty but finds that she is much more than beautiful, she is kind and generous and basically just a good person. She shows him the value of basic courtesy to those "below" him in social situations, saying thank you to the servant who brings your food and cleans your room. She also as Queen took on the plight of the dwarves who were locked and chained in the mines forced to work for the betterment of the kingdom. She was shocked at their treatment because where she came from they did the same work but weren't FORCED to do it and were free to come and go on their own. With her influence, the dwarves were freed, the king became a better person and then when they had a daughter they taught her to be a kind and generous person as well. Like in the story, the queen died when Snow was very young, the king in her memory kept on the ways of the queen. But then the king remarried a childhood friend of his and the new queen was raised the way HE was and didn't understand their new ways of ruling with kindness, so when she was basically left in charge she went back to the old ways. I remember a scene before the king died where he was shocked when the new queen slapped a servant because of a minor error, I want to say they brought her the wrong shoes. The dwarves were locked up again and the people of the kingdom were bereft without their friendship and were also being brought back to poverty because of her extravagance. The queen being fully aware that Snow would grow up and marry and bring a new king to the land to take over decided that if she hid Snow away and told everyone that she was crazy that none of that would happen. To be fair, she thought the new attitude of the king and Snow was crazy and felt the need to put an end to that type of behavior which she thought gave the lower class too much power. That is the only thing that really changed from movie and fairytale in this book, the huntsman was part of the new queen's entourage and was tasked with taking Snow someplace where her "words could not be heard" and if she caused problems it was fine to hurt or kill her where no one would know. Snow of course was not told this and she was kind to the huntsman several times on the journey, to the point that like in the movie he lets her go and tells her to run away to be safe from the queen, she was about 12. The dwarves during this time had managed to work to get seven of their number out of the mines and were hiding in the forest trying to figure out how to free all the others when the princess finds their hiding place, and they live together for several years. The rest goes a lot like the movie and the fairytale we all know but for the prince. He was from a neighboring kingdom who knew Snow from childhood and it was a kind of thing where it was likely the two would marry to unite the kingdoms and he knew it but she didn't, since she was a child, but he was aware and so saw her often and likely would have married her anyway but fell in love with her, at first sight, when he meets her in the forest while she is living with the dwarves. He didn't know who she was, the dwarves told her not to tell anyone her real identity, and they met secretly. After she falls to the evil queen's apple, the he comes looking for her and the dwarves tell him who she really was. He does kiss her, what he thinks is a corpse, with love and mourning, regretting that he could not see her in her glory as queen. She wakes up, they get married, they kill the queen, free the dwarves, and all live happily ever after. I cannot here convey all the details and characterizations that made it a full on novel with all the elements of the movie and the classic fairytale. As conveyed in this video, Snow wasn't especially smart or anything, she was beautiful, kind, generous, and really just a very good person who INSPIRED all those around her. She inspired the prince as a boy to be kinder to his people the same way the first queen inspired the king. She inspired the huntsman with her kindness and generosity to spare her life. She inspired all sorts of things in the dwarves, hope, love, confidence, self assurance, hope in mankind as they had been to the point of blaming all of humanity. Then hope and love in the adult prince as well. Even inspired hope and love in all the common people who were so happy to have her back in power.
I went through all of this to say there is so much they could have done with the story. They could have made something that was female centric in the first queen and Snow, with the plight of the dwarves, making a movie about the power of kindness and generosity, with sooooo much while keeping to the story. We learned from Maleficent that they do have the ABILITY to expand while also keeping true to the original story. They could have told the story from the dwarves point of view. They made CHOICES in making the movie the way they did and the audience will make theirs. I'm pretty sure the two shall not meet.

When you think about it, Snow White *was* actually pretty independent in her own way. Sure she's still a child and needs people to look out for her, but for a 14 yr old she's very good at taking care of herself and others. I.e preparing her own meals, as well as for the dwarves, and keeping the house in order (heck in the Brother's Grimm version she was 7!) And the fact that she goes through so much yet still remains a good person is actually very moving and powerful. But apparently that's not good enough for Disney and Zegler anymore.

    • @TheBrandonMorse
      @TheBrandonMorse  Месяц назад +13

That’s a very good point, but it would go completely unrecognized because her independence looks too domestic.

You can't compare yourself to 14-year-olds in 1937. Back then, she wasn't seen as a child and certainly not treated like one, especially in Germany.
And considering the fairytale is even older, it's just absurd to call her a child and admire her independence. Girls her age were married in those times.
Not to mention you not being able to boil water at 14 is your parent's fault and certainly not the norm lol

This is not a creative problem, but its civilizational essence, it is a conflict between Christian culture with its moral values and the atheistic culture of the "new century" turning into open Satanism. The fabulous Snow White, as a character, and the whole story is the embodiment of the best Christian virtues and postulates :
      - a clear separation of gender roles and their life strategies, the combination and synergy of which leads to common success.
      - Snow White is kind, humble, hardworking, stoically patient and gentle.
The prince is kind, persistent, brave and determined.
Both characters know how to love and consider love to be the highest value.
And love overcomes the forces of evil and death itself.
In fact, this is a retelling of the main ideas of the New Testament.
Rachel Ziegler and what she professes is the embodiment of the ideas and postulates of The Satanic Bible, written by American Anton Sandor Lavey in 1969.:
      - no traditional gender roles and their synergy.
      - No Love.
      - absolute selfishness, thirst for power and personal superiority over everyone, as the highest value in life.
Fake Latino, American Jew Rachel Ziegler embodies all this in her personality and promotes it in her interviews.
Thank God, the people of the United States did not submit to the ideas of Satan and his propagandists.
Despite the pressure from maddened politicians.

I've mentioned this on other videos regarding Rachel Zegler's behavior and the Snow White reboot, and I'll mention it here:"As a black man, I'mma be real with ya:"Rachel Zegler was fine, until she opened her mouth."
See when it comes to me and women I have this problem where how a woman's presents herself effects how I see her. If she's as narcissistic and beligerent as Zegler, then it's like the physical appearance changes to something ugly that I can't unsee. And in case you're wondering, yeah if a woman who's about a 4 or 6 turns out to be a real sweetheart, she kinda turns into a seven or eight. I know this because this is how I wound up having a crush on an upper classman in high school.
My point being, while yes Rachel Zegler is beautiful, her actions made her ugly for me and I can't unsee that.
    I'm weird like that. :p

some people are just jealous that they can't find or believe in true love like Snow White does not just in her romantic relationship with the prince but also in how she shares her love with the dwarves & woodland creatures who grew to love her in return. and imo Snow White does have incredible inner strength like remaining optimistic in the face of adversity, she did't allow the external world to take that optimism away from her and turn her cruel and that's prettt inspiring.

The thing most teens want to do when they get older. Fall and love and get married. That’s supposedly weak- can’t imagine why they’d feel condescended to.
Also, then, just make Snow White *actually* a child! Don’t make her fall for the prince- don’t even include him, he barely matters- show how precious she is. Like Aurora.
Or, or- Snow White and Rose Red. Do that story. It’s a bit darker, but it still ends with the two good and kind children becoming royalty.

Snow White is a German folk tale that's been passed down orally for centuries until the Brothers Grimm wrote it down. It is a tale that stood the test of time long before Disney chose to animate it, in fact that's why he chose to animate it.
Trying to "reinvent" for a modern audience is both dishonest & self serving. Now if you want to tell a new story BASED on Snow White, but making those modern changes, that's fine. I think Disney did something like that with Selena Gomez based on Cinderella. But they didn't call it Cinderella. If you want to do a live action remake of the original fairy-tale 🧚‍♀️ or following the script of the cartoon. I'm dubious but willing to give it a chance. But this Woke White sounds like a train wreck from start to finish🚄🛤!
