It's crazy to think that Sonic 3 is kicking mufasa's ass not just at the box office but with the fans and do you want to know why because the Sonic people care about us
I think you should've compared Disney's female characters from the past and compared them to today. Like compare Disney's princesses from the past and compare them to their live action remake counterparts. Disney claimed that they're improving and fixing their princesses by making them "more active and empowering" and yet the only Disney princess they got right in one of their live action remakes was Cinderella in their 2015 Cinderella remake.
@@jonnyboy4289 im not saying that the live actions are good mulan, aladin and batb were horrible adaptations of mulan, jasmine and belle but i have to agree that the early disney princesses were pretty sexist belle was the first princess to be an actually good written character while im boycotting snow white for casting a zionist i think both animated and live action are bad and aurora was a horrible main character in the original cartoon we barely got to see her motivations aside from not wanting to be sheltered im not saying snow or aurora needs to be warriors belle and rapunzel are much better written characters and theyre not warriors but snow and aurora could be better written
@Emily-the-faerie What about the Little Mermaid 1989 cartoon and its 2023 remake? The writers, cast, and crew dismissed the 1989 Little Mermaid as "problematic" because "Ariel leaves the ocean just for a boy" and they did change the story with Ariel saving the day with little to no help from anyone (making Prince Eric, Sabastian, and the other side characters useless in the story).
@jonnyboy4289 watch korean comics review of the movie i think triton should have been a main villian hes an abusive and violent man and if you saw ariels begining he outlawed music which makes him a tyrant both live action and cartoon should have focused more on how badly the abuse messed up ariels brain so thats why she was so desperate to be with a guy she never spoke to
Because they were too bossy and masculine There are great fictional women who were both strong physically in their own way, yet feminine in form and nurturing. Also, they had flaws and external dangers they must overcome. Sadly, modern entertainment does not know that.
6:31 This scene of Jennifer saying she has to deal with her anger management better that her own cousin especially makes no sense when her cousin IS THE HULK!!! A person who literally turns into a giant green goliath whenever he lets his anger gets the best of him. And on top of that, Hulk had been on the run from the government for years, trying to prevent his anger from getting the best of him to prevent his other half from going on a rampage and destroy entire cities. If she was talking to someone else who wasn't the Hulk/Bruce Banner, then there's an argument that her statements could be justifiable. But when she learns about her cousin, the fact that he had endured far worse than she had endured, and learned that he own anger could potentially bring forth a literal monster, then maybe it could've started a potential arc where She-Hulk can help her cousin with his issues, while at the same time, Hulk helping She-Hulk be a better Hulk than he could've been when he became the Green Goliath.
Not to mention that the original She-hulk say the exactly OPOSITE to Bruce, talking about how he should focus LESS on the anger and more on what the mutation helps them
Even in the first Avengers movie, Bruce flat out says that being the Hulk took its toll on him to the point where he tried shooting himself. Meanwhile, Tatiana (I refuse to call her Jennifer Walters) is complaining about supposed misogyny when we literally see nothing of the sort and it comes off as her inventing grievances in an attempt at indignantly one-upping her cousin, who was only trying to help her.
I definitely agree with Jenna Ortega about wanting new original female characters who can stand in their own right. The fact the people making films believe that replacing traditionally white male characters like James Bond with a female or a person of diverse ethnic background is a win for diversity is ridiculous and is among the biggest delusions existing in media today. All it’s saying is that according to these creators women and other minorities aren’t capable of headlining their own original content and need to be propped up by a pre-existing male centric franchise. Which is 100% NOT true. And is the opposite message of what they claim to be promoting. You do not have to tear people down to lift others up. You do not have to take over male franchises to make room for female leads. You do not have to force toxic male attributes onto female characters to make them the protagonists. Stop. Just stop.

Quite a few female leaders in europe , all of them war mongerers wanting ww3 with russia. So much for the world being a better place if run by women. Harris in the USA also wanted to escalate the war if she was voted in.
Good writing requires acknowledging that people are different and are often flawed. However, certain shows refuse to acknowledge that leading women can be flawed because that might lead to women not always having the correct answer to any given problem. Can't have that. God help us if women aren't always right. /s
What drives me craziest about these movies and shows is how they portray women as the ones who are constantly looked down on, belittled, and disregarded. I am a man who feels that way as well. So when they go on these five-minute dialogue dumps in She-Hulk or Barbie about how they, as women, are oppressed and are expected to be perfect at all times and its not fair, it makes us men feel like our thoughts and feelings are invalidated. Because by saying its "unfair", you're implying it's something only one side EVER experiences. That is exactly what they're getting at, that we men can't feel small and unimportant and unheard, and if we feel that way, we're wrong and should be quiet, because women have it worse. Honestly it feels like Hollywood is trying to perpetuate this divide between men and women, between black and white, to keep us from focusing on the real issues. Like that Trump is a r*pist or that Nancy Pelosi has been profiteering through insider trading for years, and yet neither are in jail yet.
I would like to see both men and women being treated equally important in the stories for games, shows and movies like before, because we need each other through all the good, bad and complicated things
Japan's entertainment like Anime did have lots of Strong Female Characters & it's always attractive & their measurements are sometimes way bigger than IRL. Like Valkyrie Drive & Magical Girl Nanoha Lyrical it's like containing DEI being serviceable instead of being inclusive.

Hopefully Hollywood and celebrities will get back to doing everything the right creative way again like before since it’s getting more and more obvious that this ain’t working for anyone and get back to making games, shows and movies what they were always meant to be from the beginning, fun and entertaining
The book and the movie veer in very different directions on the character of Chani. Which is fine, because the book is the inspiration, not a straitjacket. She is much more cynical in the movie than in the book. So, yes, an interesting character, but also one adapted for the present day, rather than the time the book was released, in 1965. This doesn't bother me, but makes me want to see what the director has in mind for the next chapter.
One of my all time fav movie is Espace room which has a black women and she not perfect or just a "girl boss" she make mistakes, she fuck up, she learns and when she get hurt or your think she going to die your on the edge of your seat hoping she doesn't
@@furrycheetah YES OMG I was fortunate enough to go to watch an early showing of Sonic 3 on the 20th before it came out on 21st. And BOY did I LOVE it! Shadow was the star and his whole character and the way they showcased his story was so touching it honestly could make one cry. I came out of the cinema wanting to buy another ticket to watch it again.
To write a well-rounded female character is by focusing on her individuality, flaws, and personal growth rather than fitting her into a specific agenda or stereotype. Let her motivations, skills, and values drive the story naturally, and ensure her relationships and decisions feel authentic to her personality. That’s the key of writing a good female character/heroine. Too bad Disney currently sucks only on how they handle women like that.
I dunno...I thought Chani sucked. Vendaya is a one expression actress, and I didn't enjoy the character being turned into an excuse for a girl "to know better" than the Qwisatz Hadderach.
Just watched the Penguin S1 on a few plane rides on my way home from a trip... Sophia Falcone was incredible!! Female character done 100% correct! Loved her and loved that show!!
Disney, and Amazon seem hell bent on making women powerful, but they do it stupidly. They do it by making men look dumb and weak. Perfect example, Star Wars episode 4, A New Hope, Vader has Leia imprisoned, she needs men to save her. She's snarky when they do, and adds help when they break in, but there was no way she was going to do it by herself. Fast forward to episode 7, Ray is able to break her bonds with no help, no training, and frees herself, because she don't need no man. Going right back to that idiot, saying that it's no longer 1937, and she no longer needs no prince, and doesn't need true love, she just wants to be the leader that she knows that she can be. Okay, you're cornered by a bad man, you 100 lb woman, let's see the leader that you can be. Are you A) Going to kick ass and take names, or B) Scream for help and hope that a good man comes to save you? We ALL know the answer, but your movie is trying to force us to believe that the answer is A. THAT is what makes your movie suck, it's what makes modern Disney movies suck and it's why nobody wants to watch them.
Thank you so much for doing this video, Jesse! I really do appreciate it, 'cause somebody's gotta call out this bullshit happening in media today! Anyway, here's to better female characters going forward in 2025, 'cause boy, we really do need it, man! Happy New Year to you and yours, bro! 2024 was the worst year ever in a long time, second in line to 2012, ha, JK lol! But you get what I'm saying, though, right? I'm sure hoping that you! But anyway, have a nice day rest if your day today, buddy! And take care!
Sorry to say this but Zendaya fell way short of her true character from the books to the film adaptation. Don’t get me wrong she looked the part and did an adequate job but she’s just a lot more lethal and fearsome in the books.
That’s something that I really don’t understand. Disney used to make products that were entertaining story telling and the characters talk and act like they are those people. Now they make products that are unrealistic to the character, for a political ideology that was solved years ago, and the characters talk and act like they want to give people the wrong lesson. Although, it maybe the writer who writes it but technically it’s the bosses who has to make sure it is ok. So, basically either way it’s actually the bosses job to actually make sure the workers are working to make money and not to influence political ideology.
Proof that Disney needs to drop all this and get back to making all of its projects well written and creative and fun and entertaining again like before and bring back the magic
Talented women don't need to leech off the creations of men. Gimme a writer's job with lots of prominence and a fat salary, or I'll smear you as a woman hater etc. - Personal experience in the industry.
Another great example is "Atomic Blonde (2017)" with Charlize Theron. There is a violent, totally believable fight scene in which she - reasonably - defeats a 5 KGB guy using speed, guile and realistic weapons skills. Fast forward to "Captain Marvel", played by Brie Larson, who effortlessly and without risk throws 250-pound stuntmen around. No effort, no risk, no audience engagement ... a feminist revenge fantasy that is boring to watch. Also, Captain Marvel is by any objective standard a villain, not a protagonist. I guess the difference is good writers with merit vs DEI writers with no discernable merit live out infantile or ideological power fantasies.
Are you that freaking brain dead They’re just writers they write and how they write and please stop saying “Del” it’s like saying it’s a place for sandwiches
Chani wasn't exactly great in my opinion (But she was better than the Disney slop). It felt like they were focusing more on showing her as a strong female warrior, With less of a focus on her being an actual person. and the few romance scenes don't really make up for that. we are meant to feel bad for her at the end of part 2, But how am I going to feel bad for someone who spent the last 2 hour whining. plus Zendaya has an almost permanent scowl. Zendaya and Timothée are definitely a bit over hyped.
@Jesse Grant I'll tell you something okay, I was fortunate enough to watch an early screening of Sonic 3 which, was AMAZING AND TOUCHING, GO SHADOW! However 😑 during the ads before the movie started they showed the trailer for Snow Woke and BOY did I get mad inside. 😂 I felt like snatching my brother's popcorn box to launch at the screen.🍿 And the teens behind me felt the same.
Tbf chani was by far the weakest link and it is because they boss girled her instead of her following paul and shutting up like she does in the books. Its just that dune 2 was a great movie so her being a bad character wasnt enough to drag the movie down.
As much as I enjoy the 80's dune movie it is objectively terrible. 'weirding boxes'? Ffs The recent dune 2 movie was a big disappointment but I really enjoyed the first one.
Awesome. Way to give away Dune 2 in the last 10 seconds of your video after telling everyone you weren't going to. Good job. Keep scraping the bottom of the MsheU barrel too while you're at it LOL.
👎👎👎 You are right for the most part. However, referencing the Zendaya rendition of Chani as a 'good female character' is ridiculous. This was one of the primary negativities that lessened Villaneuve's Dune. Zendaya's childish, petulant grimaces and inauthentic swaggerings were pathetic. She bore NO credibility, coming off no more than a petite brat... she was totally unconvincing as a Fedaykin, and it was hilarious seeing her depicted as wading through a horde of Sardaukar (NOT GOING TO HAPPEN). Zendaya's Chani is among the worst examples of a 'Strong Female Caricature' and 'GRRRLLLBOSSING Antics'.
I found She-Hulks dialog relatable. The thing is - neither I nor someone in my family are superheros. It felt like a conversation I could have, with completely different circumstances. It made no sense in the grand scheme of things.
James Duff the creator of The Closer starring Kyra Sedgwick talks about how the show came about from the super simple idea of doing a cop show about a female cop that was actually female and that was her superpower because her feminity and specific skills as a woman could come in handy in an investigation which is how Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson, one of the all time best female characters in tv history was born. This is a foreign concept today.
You don't get it. This is a problem because these people SUCK at writing their own story or character, hence the gender bend, to freewheel on the success of better people that actually have merit. You see it with comics all the time.
Arcane is the best show with female characters for me, only based girls and also great male characters
Thats because they were strong characters that just happened to be female
Arcane is the epitome of "show, don't tell" and "let it happen naturally", vs shoving it down peoples throats, in my opinion.

Hopefully Hollywood and celebrities will get back to doing everything the right creative way again like before since it’s getting more and more obvious that this ain’t working for anyone and get back to making games, shows and movies what they were always meant to be from the beginning, fun and entertaining
Idk who this actor is from that snow white, but in whatever movie she plays I want to avoid.
Rachel Zeigler
You and many others
The book and the movie veer in very different directions on the character of Chani. Which is fine, because the book is the inspiration, not a straitjacket. She is much more cynical in the movie than in the book. So, yes, an interesting character, but also one adapted for the present day, rather than the time the book was released, in 1965. This doesn't bother me, but makes me want to see what the director has in mind for the next chapter.
This woman here absolutely HATES Girl Boss characters!!!!
Chani was the worlds worst girlfriend.
You’ve mentioned the movie Smile 2, will your review the movie?
“I’m not going to spoil dune ending” - proceeds to absolutely spoil it at the end of the video 😂😂
One of my all time fav movie is Espace room which has a black women and she not perfect or just a "girl boss" she make mistakes, she fuck up, she learns and when she get hurt or your think she going to die your on the edge of your seat hoping she doesn't
6:30 lol, gets angry at the end of a speach about how good she is at controlling her anger.
They should take note from Deadpool and Wolverine 😂
Bob Iger prefers to blame others than himself, rather than admitting guilt and improving.
@blackidna
Just like Meghan and Harry. Blaming others for their own downfall than actually seeing that THEY are the problem for their own failures.
They need to fired Zendaya for all the damage she have done.
Not just from Deadpool and Wolverine,
But also from Sonic trilogy

YES OMG I was fortunate enough to go to watch an early showing of Sonic 3 on the 20th before it came out on 21st. And BOY did I LOVE it! Shadow was the star and his whole character and the way they showcased his story was so touching it honestly could make one cry. I came out of the cinema wanting to buy another ticket to watch it again.
The problem with Chani at the end of Dune 2 it creates problems for Dune 3.
All of this is why Brenda Leigh Johnson from The Closer and Alison Dubois from Medium are my two favorite female characters.
Mr. Grant nailed it as usual!
To be fair the movies chani character was a low point of dune- but I really blame the writers not the actress.
Still makes me laugh that she hulk claims to be so good at controlling her anger when she's literally having a temper tantrum whilst saying it 😂
Lecturing the green guy about anger management while turning green herself!
Talented women don't need to leech off the creations of men. Gimme a writer's job with lots of prominence and a fat salary, or I'll smear you as a woman hater etc.
- Personal experience in the industry.
D V version of Chani in Dune sucks to.
That's because the "modern audience" that's Disney is catering to now are the likes of Rachael Zegler, Mindy Kaling and whoever those up top.
Disney's female characters don't suck as look at the women in animated movies and the majority of the Marvel content
Chani was the worst part of Dune.
Chani being a great character is pushing it……
@Jesse Grant
I'll tell you something okay, I was fortunate enough to watch an early screening of Sonic 3 which, was AMAZING AND TOUCHING, GO SHADOW! However 😑 during the ads before the movie started they showed the trailer for Snow Woke and BOY did I get mad inside. 😂 I felt like snatching my brother's popcorn box to launch at the screen.🍿
And the teens behind me felt the same.
Female characters aren't the only one being ruined by politics, look at Sokka in Avatar.
British Type G electrical plug
Tbf chani was by far the weakest link and it is because they boss girled her instead of her following paul and shutting up like she does in the books. Its just that dune 2 was a great movie so her being a bad character wasnt enough to drag the movie down.
Frank Herbert is spining in his grave
The 80s movie and the sifi chanell miniseries were decent adaptations. D V version was just horible.
As much as I enjoy the 80's dune movie it is objectively terrible.
'weirding boxes'? Ffs
The recent dune 2 movie was a big disappointment but I really enjoyed the first one.
@@Joe-Przybranowski Dune 1 was just as bad as Dune 2.
Tatiana gets cat called in the street? Doubtfull
Check strong female characters in the non woke literature and movies, from Channi to Sarah Connor. People hate simplistic characters not strong women.
Awesome. Way to give away Dune 2 in the last 10 seconds of your video after telling everyone you weren't going to. Good job. Keep scraping the bottom of the MsheU barrel too while you're at it LOL.
3:12 the serie "once upon a time" already did this and I'm gonna guess, a LOT better
Spoiler warning for Dune P2 please - finishing the book before I watch the movie. Good video
HAPPY NEW YEAR'S JESSE
from Shaun of New York City U.S.A
The big Spoiler at the end man!
Disney is great! Its the haters who can't find something to do with their life......
Chani in Dune 2 was disappointing.
Hugely out of character
We don’t like crappy written characters male or female it’s pretty simple Hollywood 🤦♂️
They suck
I like the movie million dollar baby.
I found She-Hulks dialog relatable. The thing is - neither I nor someone in my family are superheros. It felt like a conversation I could have, with completely different circumstances. It made no sense in the grand scheme of things.
😂😂😂😂😂
James Duff the creator of The Closer starring Kyra Sedgwick talks about how the show came about from the super simple idea of doing a cop show about a female cop that was actually female and that was her superpower because her feminity and specific skills as a woman could come in handy in an investigation which is how Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson, one of the all time best female characters in tv history was born. This is a foreign concept today.
We only watch Spiderman for Spiderman and not for Zendaya. It always has to be the message on black women are capable on their own.
All mary sue characters with the exception of she hulk
your thumbnail is so cringe, zandeya in dune is also politics
05:28: Donald Trump supporters, that's who.
First
Appreciate the support!
You don't get it. This is a problem because these people SUCK at writing their own story or character, hence the gender bend, to freewheel on the success of better people that actually have merit. You see it with comics all the time.
Chani was still a moron. Her feefees got hurt because paul had to marry for political reasons.
