It wasn't until Black Widow's solo movie that i realized that Marvel failed her. I think her being a side character in all the other films kind of hid the flaws/contrasting elements of her story. I was expecting her movie to be a mission impossible style Spy movie that shows her abilities that we never got in the "main" movies. Instead, it was a generic superhero movie that honestly didn't make much sense for her character. Needless to say, I'm disappointed with the direction they took with her, and she deserved better smh.
Black Widow in Endgame: “The Avengers are the only family I have” Black Widow in her movie: Has her own family outside the Avengers. Her movie ruins the fact Black Widow sacrificed herself for the Avengers cause she saw the Avengers as the only family she had in life. Hawkeye and Cap cried over her death in Endgame thinking she was the only people she saw as family. Now there is not as much weight to it anymore when they retconned it.
@petermj1098 Exactly. I honestly wouldn't mind this whole "spy family" aspect if they just executed it better. One way for that would definitely be for that movie to not be a shoe horned midquel thing that comes after the character died off (duh). It was just such a letdown because, once again, they had a lot of potential for her character and they just didn't really do much with it smh.
Something to obtain when you compare Black widow with almost every appearance she has in her solo movie it's not a spy trailer it's just a random insane action movie the only thing close to a spy element on the whole thing is the fact that she does another interrogation scene and even that was pathetic
@@petermj1098you know I don't hate that Hawkeye TV show it was meandering at best but it wasn't that bad that being said I think it did some damage to the character of Clint apparently he knew about Jelena and apparently in some point nat told him to look for her but no he didn't do that he decided to go to the Opera with his family and celebrate Christmas and I guess hope that Yelena in some point goes to him?

Always thought that Sif should've been more prominent in Thor's story (just knowing about the mythology at the very least), and that was before learning how important she was in the comics. They could have at least made her a better/closer friend to Thor in particular since she was a competent fighter, but nope, she just disappears. Would've been pretty helpful in that Endgame fight, I bet.
In the comics she was the sole reason why Thor became worthy. He picked Mjolnir for the first time to save her after she was kidnapped. He became worthy when he tried to lift that hammer to help someone he loved, not to make himself powerful. Sif then returned the favor when Hela was about to drag Thor's soul to Niffleheim, but Sif pleaded on her knees to take her instead and made Hela, a character whose shtick is to be cold and emotionless, cry when she felt Sif's dispair. The MCU screwed up Thor's iconography worse out of any franchise I can think of.
She is a key ally in the comics and they nicely introduced her in Thor but then disappeared. She got a cameo in Thor 4 but that's it. Not sure why but maybe she's busy with her TV show and other movies.
For what I can gather what happened with the actress has some issues and if he had show up Ragnarok he probably will have been killed (which considering what we saw in love and thunder it probably would have been for the best) which is funny because she also make an appearance in agents of shield and her role in thor 2 team relatively more important on my opinion she should have appear in Ragnarok and died I mean her character seems to be very happy with the idea of dying in l&t
Another female character that has been done dirty by the mcu is Sharon Carter. They would rather give off her character traits to other characters(Nat and Peggy) than giving her the story she deserves. Like the only reason Peggy was even created in the first place was to set up for Sharon’s story. They took so much away from her and reduced her into being a background character. Which is ridiculous considering her role in the Captain America comics.
She wasnt a background character in the falcon and winter soldier series i thinm they made her a villian but she doesn't feel threatening enough i think she may have an important role in thunderbolts but we'll see

Fun fact: the Wasp (Janet Van Dyne) was supposed to take Black widow’s spot for the first avengers movie. She would’ve calm the hulk down in age of Ultron by using the same exact “the sun is going down” trick that Natasha did. However it wouldn’t been a some type of romantic relationship thing because Jan is with Hank in this version therefore Bruce would still had Betty as his love interest. Also, Due to Jan’s character of being kind and caring, she would had a trust type of bond with the hulk or even a friendship with the hulk. I wish we had that instead of Hulk/BruceXNatasha.
@@CartoonSociety-in9ci I would NEVER forgive the C.U.M. for hiring THE PERFECT ACTRESS FOR JANET VAN DYNE who was a huge fan of Wasp comics (Hayley Lovitt) just to CGI-ed Pfeiffer's face on her body & delete most of her scenes 🤬
I totally agreed with you especially the relationship Wasp and the Hulk had in the Earth's Mightiest Heroes where she was the first one to give the Hulk the benefit of the doubt.
I think the problem is obvious….none of their stories was planned at all. I think at best, they planned their stories for one or two movies and then didn’t care about them until they started this paper thin fake “feminism” thing. If you can even call it feminism.
I think that's what happens when it's pandering for money rather than written with genuine intent. You can feel their type of "feminism" shoe-horned in. It's doesn't feel organic. Especially when it's just having women on screen degrading men it misses the entire point of feminism. Women being capable, adaptive, using their own intelligence etc to earn their success is feminism; lifting women up at the expense of men is not and just plain lazy writing. As well just handing success to them without earning it is also boring, and that happens way too often.
Here’s something I really don’t like about about black widow in the mCU and it’s an element that has blend in other media. I know it’s probably something that came even before, but why is she an avenger by that I mean why is she part of the public eye team been a spy and all sounds like she should not be in the front lines.
Her membership as an Avenger has always been back and forth in the comics. Mostly, she is there as an eye on the Avengers. Her motives are always muddy and her true allegiance is unclear as she is a double agent, which means she screws over her allies just as easily as she screws over the Avengers' enemies. All you know is that she mostly works in the best interests of S.H.I.E.L.D.
It all started with the Ultimate comics. She was a member of the Avengers there, and both she and Hawkeye were put in the place of Ant-Man and the Wasp in the MCU because they're as complicated and controversial as an actual wasps nest in the comics. Originally, Wasp was planned to debut in the first Avengers film with Zooey Deschanel being eyed to play her, but that was their contingency plan in case Scarlett Johannsen's contract didn't get renewed for the film.
I keep saying Natasha would’ve made more sense with Bucky Barnes. Not just because they were a thing in the comics but because they have similar backstories and struggles albeit in different ways. (Also I think Jane was more interesting when she WASN’T a female version of Thor)
Let's hope Bucky have a thing with Yelena during or after Thunderbolts for: 1. Those 2 to have the dynamic relationship Steve and Nat had during TWS and the relationship Nat and Bucky had in the comics; 2. For Bucky to FINALLY have some happiness on his life and the same goes for Yelena.

There were BOXES and boxes of these comics people didn't even want for 75 cents) Boggles my mind how Disney doesn't use the mountain of metrics and data points marvel must have about what characters/stories/issues sell well and resonate with fans and then chooses all of these garbage tier choices to bring to the forefront.
@@ChaosReaper426 that came into comics just ten years ago and was mandated by Marvel's editorial because Jane now was a movie character and they needed to give her relevancy in the comics. It's the same reason why Loki during Siege looks and acts like a black metal arsonist, but then few years later Tom Hiddleston becomes the most popular actor in the MCU besides Downey and comics quickly turned Loki into a pretty bad boy who doesn't want to do bad things on purpose. Again, the MCU is so destructive, it affects the comics too.
To be fair on Pepper wasnt there an issue that the actor was having so they had ti write reasons why she wasnt there until they were able to get her back
That’s gonna be a problem with planning out these big franchises as actors don’t want to be tied down as much into one commitment. Paltrow has been in Hollywood for some time now and has other interests going on for a time. Maybe that’s why Marvel is pushing newer actors to be their leads in films: so they can stay in the MCU for as long as they can use them.
Tony Stark do have other love interest. Bethany Cabe, Joanna Nivena, Indries Moomji, and Kathy Dare. So weird that they made Pepper Potts a love interest out of all of these other people I just mentioned while pepper was just his secretary who never had any romantic interest with stark and funny thing is she is with Happy Hogan in the comics. 🤔
I wish another director than Waititi would have done Thor 3. Maybe we would have gotten a better Hela. I still liked her, mostly because Blanchett has a lot of charisma in the role. But there was a lot more potential.
Kenneth Branagh was right there, but neither Hemsworth or the MCU thought, ''Maybe we should go back to the roots of the franchise and end it the way we started it?" Branagh actually had plans to bring Balder into the picture and mentioned Ragnarok (the myth) on the commentary track for the first Thor. He'd def do it some justice. And if Hela was there, she'd be the daughter of Loki and a lurking presence instead of a video game boss with no relation to Loki.
The part of you saying that other's being capable renders the main hero not special is spot on. The same thing applies to Batman nowadays as he has 20 members in the Batfamily and 8 of which mainly operate in Gotham. Batman should be more like the Sith with the rule of two Master and the Apprentice. This time with Batman, Alfred and A Robin at the most so when Dick leaves it gets to Jason, then to Tim then to Damian and that being the LAST OF IT. Once they leave they should go to other places far from him to be their own heroes or anti-heros. WHEN EVERYONE IS SPECIAL NO ONE IS SPECIAL.
That's what a smart person would do. But as evident by the MCU's trackrecord with Thor movies after 2011, smart people aren't allowed into director's chair.
3:30 Is actually necesary to mention that Pepper WAS NEVER TONY STARK'S ROMANTIC COUPLE, that's something introduce by adaptations(not just CUM BTW, also by the cartoons & games like Armored Adventures & the Anime Universe for example) She orginally was suppoused to be just Tony Stark's best friend(aside Rhodey) & closest confident, that's why she becomes Rescue in Matt Fraction's Run, not because she's Tony's Girl, but because she is his most trusted friend & a very capable Fighter in hard moments
I don’t agree with everything this video has said but I can’t deny that you bring up some good points about taking some of these female heroes seriously and taking their legitimate skill sets into account as well as respect their respective roles in each story Like yeah, why doesn’t Black Widow do proper espionage spy shit? Why isn’t Sif more relevant than Jane and why does Jane die so soon if they actually give a shit about female representation? WHERE IS ENCHANTRESS ALREADY?
I was hoping for Enchantress myself when I saw Skurge in Thor 3; I always thought that Charlize Theron would have been perfect for Enchantress as opposed to playing Clea at the end of Doctor Strange...
@@vaggos2003 I just think it makes sense to have that, it's a thing that happens in the comics so I would imagine they would have adapt at some point so I have no real issues with it It's not like it deflate Pepper's character as a whole it's just another thing that adds to her character Then again just because it was in the comics doesn't mean it's good, Rescue is fine compared to shit like One More Day or Mac Gargan being the primary Venom host or Civil War 2
The only adaptation from the MCU I’m ok with are Guardians of the Galaxy. Even if the characters are entirely different from the source material, James Gunn made these unknown D-List characters into household names. The entire trilogy is enjoyable and fantastic to watch. Even with some characters getting nerfed, I have no problems with guardians of the galaxy.
Marvel has a lot female characters in their comics with tons of potential, but won’t give them proper writing and character development in their movies and TV series. It’s weird that for a brand that claims to be all inclusive, they are probably not always that way behind closed doors.

I find the people making the M-SHE-U exhausting. So what if they use a word if they're describing a real phenomena. Seems kinda dumb to blame the messenger for the message
I found it exhausting that I had to go through this "moar diversity" thing twice and watch it fail both times. Years ago Marvel Comics did the exact same thing Marvel Studios did and got the same results. In fact I think DC Comics (which was going through its amazing _Rebirth_ initiative at the time) was actually able to overtake Marvel as the best selling American comic book company. Actually the mention of DC made me realize I've seen it three times. DC Comics launched their _Infinite Frontier_ initiative not long before phase 4 of the MCU and it also bombed horribly. My favorite was when John Ridely (the screenwriter of 12 Years a Slave) wrote a (thankfully non-canon) story where a de-powered Superman gets raped. That's a story that desperately needed to be told, right?

I strongly disagree with pepper because 1. This is the first time that Tony Stark made an iron man suit for anyone but his self. 2. Pepper literally lives with Tony Stark to know how the suit works. 3. It only appears in the endgame in the final battle where every superhero is fighting for the universe. This doesn't undermine anything of Tony Stark's goals or accomplishments.
Yes like just because she was background character in some movies doesn't mean she isn't important and her getting a suit makes sense she's literally the wife of ironman
disagree with your disagree. I think the problem isn't that Pepper wouldn't know how it works in general but that we never see her train or learn anything about the suit. The first iron man showed Tony doing a lot of trial and error and making adjustments. He had to struggle and earn his abilities with his brains and ingenuity. Pepper may have learned offscreen but Marvel does that a lot. Just show a quick scene of her figuring part of the suit out or learning from Tony. We get none of that and she just appears on screen and is as good as Tony with the suit. That makes Tony not seem as special as Iron Man. He's more than just the suit but this brings that down a bit. That's how I took the commentary on it
@@BenjaminBilyeu-jm3tc Well kinda because Tony was mainly making mark 2 during this period. While adjusting to hovering instead full on flying. Now once he made mark 2 he just started the flight test and he adjusted to it very quickly. Just like he said "There's a time where you got to run before you can walk". Also compared to all the marks in ironman 1 to her suit should not be in the same category. It also makes Tony better in terms of iron man suit training. Since every disadvantage his previous suits had are pretty much not relevant in her suit making her training less risky and faster than tony. Because since her suit has Tony advanced Ai if she messes up the suit would just assist her. Which Tony made mostly himself from the ground up. This just tells you anyone can be ironman but no one can be Tony Stark because without Tony her suit would never exist. Since he literally built it.
posted it under another comment but its related, so i'll post it again : what I don't understand about pepper is at the end of iron man 3 she did gain extremis powers, but then never uses it again. If they wanted, they could've recasted someone else with that excuse, and also show her beating some random joke villains during some films. Then, stark giving her the rescue suit would've made much more sense. Could've also played along with the dynamics of her struggling with extremis and how tony relates to that as he struggled with heart problems, and thus built the suit for her
@@eatstudio9244 The reason she don't use the power anymore is that Tony might have made a cure since anyone he mat with those powers tends to explode. Yea there are better way to give her the suit. But my argument is that pepper is fine as a character and her suit makes sense because of Tony's character.
That Girl Boss moment in Endgame was awful. So cringe.... So unearned. They could've banned together for Black Widow. All they would have to do is have Pepper and Wanda ask where Natasha is, only to find out that she died and she's never coming back. They both get even more mad and poof, you have a build up to the Girl Boss moment. But no. It's just for the sake of P**sy Power!
They already knew Natasha died. Why would they ask on the battlefield where Natasha is when they found out before the battle they didn’t go straight from time travel to snapping
a big chunk of how widow is portrayed in the mcu is how basically janet van dyne should have been portrayed if appearing on the movies. loving, caring, quippy and the heart of the avengers. she's the one who keeps them grounded and not thinking they're gods on earth. she's to the avengers what sue storm is for the FF. i understand people not wanting to have hank pym as a main avenger on the MCU, but janet was obligatory. she needed to be there. either along scott lang, or hank. but she had to be there.
The real love interest of Tony Stark from the comics is Bethany Cabe. She's a security expert, and a former romantic partner of Tony. Pepper and Tony never ever dated in the comics. Pepper is actually with Happy Hogan. Beth helped Tony deal with his alcoholism. Other than Beth, Whitney Frost would be Tony’s next best love interest. To me, Beth was Tony's True Love in the comics.... But MCU popularized Pepper Potts. Bethany Cabe is an interesting character. The Iron Man mythos has a lot of very interesting characters like her that the movies didn't use. I hope to see Bethany and Madame Masque in EA Motive's Iron Man game.
I remember a particular season of a franchise that's still going to this day, released no later than 2015. In it, a previously-static female character is basically tasked with saving five other team members, as well as helping to save the franchise's equivalent of the multiverse. Throughout the season's 3.5-hour runtime, she evolves into a member just as capable as the other five, with guidance from both the other five's mentor as well as an antihero. Within the season's 10-day release window, the female character becomes everything Marvel has been trying to deliver on for over 15 years. Strong female characters are more than possible, but only if enough time and care and effort is put in during the production process.

Kidding me, it was all down hill with the establishment of Marvel Studios. Captain America, Hulk, Thor, all terrible movies. Iron Man 2 huge drop from Iron Man 1, which was before Disney bought Marvel.
Not for lack of trying. I don't know why they chose to take such a different approach with their female characters, they had taken the same approach with the male characters for years, but it was working! People liked the movies, so fuck it. Why the change? It's not the female characters, it's the way they refuse to give them a proper hero's journey
they've even lost their way with the male characters. Some of them have regressed as characters instead of developing further. Thor and Hulk are 2 good examples. I don't think that Hawkeye developed either and there are other examples. The different directors didn't care and just changed aspects of their character to fit the movie they wanted to make
Superhero: Superpowered individuals who overcome their weaknesses to defeat their enemies and save people. SuperSHEro: Super-Overpowered women who have no weaknesses and overcome the ridicule by men for being female, and defeat their enemies with ease just because they're strong women.
Betty Ross died with The Incredible Hulk. And the thing that came out was the MCU Hulk. I may be wrong but I absolutely believe that The Incredible Hulk won't be scared to fight against Thanos or his Minions in Wakanada
It's amazing how due to ideological reasons, female characters are no longer allowed to "just" be love interests, they're no longer allowed to be Damsels in Distress, female heroes HAVE to be at least as physically powerful and capable in combat as their male counterparts, and they can't ever be anything but exceptional. This might make for good "role models" (not really), but it doesn't make for interesting female characters that bring something unique to the table.
You just want female characters to be just love interests and/or damsels in distress, which is sexist and stereotypical. Meanwhile, so much male characters have been leads and action heroes in storytelling for thousands of years, at the expense of female characters.
Female characters should have the right to shine as much as their male counterparts. We cannot simply reduce female characters to damsels in distress or love interests. That's kind of sexist.
I completely agree tho! Completely dropping characters then randomly bringing them back is weird. I get Marvel doesn't wanna pay everyone for a 2 second cameo, and the actors are busy but still... They could explain this better
12:13 I don't get why Obadiah Stane is listed among the super geniuses. The Iron Monger suit was made by other scientists, and even then, it was only possible by stealing tech and designs made by Tony. At most, Stane was presented as a very good businessman, but nowhere near a genius scientist.
Cindel(Aubree Miller) and Charal(Sian Philips) from Ewoks The Battle For Endor(1985) are both better well written and likable female characters than any of the Modern 2020 MCU films. Change my mind. They’re also both a good heroine and villainess respectively.
It's sad cause I loved Disney & it's 2D Animation growing up in the 90's. Now it's unrecognizable & it's monopolized many things. These people have proven they are only capable of writing narcissistic stories that self insert themselves and their own beliefs into anything they do. Even if they get to make something from a pre-existing beloved story, they cannot help themselves. They seem to be incapable of creating artistic creations that stray away from their own personal perspective, instead of showing they can lean heavily into escapism and pure storytelling.. They have proven time and time again that they are not capable of doing anything even remotely close to that.. (which is weird because that should be one of the most important attributes that a director or a developer or an actor has in order to be successful at their job....?) How is there no one that will fire these people who openly hate the fans, who hate the consumers were the one's who made their success in the first place.. There's now people like Kathleen Kennedy, She's a Perfect example of this awful trend where people keep getting these positions when they in no way deserve those positions. They are not hired based off talent or skill..? So we are seeing very expensive shows, movies, all so terribly designed, terribly managed, Awful writing, world design, character development, poor aesthetics. So much now feels creatively bankrupt and I really hope we all snap the f*ck out of it and get back to making better things. The new Acolyte show comes off so cheap & tacky.. It's not just the terrible writing & terrible acting. The whole thing is a complete self centered power trip.. It's horrible set design, horrible world building, horrible camera work. It all makes this show feel so small. Like it's filmed in a single green screen room.. Grasping at awful CGI techniques to try and force any bit of a false reality into this mess of a show. It's so far from Legitimate Star wars movies that it feels as if this whole thing is a big parody.. A very expensive parody.. Now Compare the "The Acolyte" as If you go back & watch "X-Men the Animated series" It was so well crafted. The story of the struggles of mutants having to deal with humanity was such a universally relatable storyline. Media back then was not afraid to face difficult topics head on. They found really unique ways to abstractly teach people life lessons. They touched on difficult situations & found intelligent ways to convey certain stories. Even when I was all grown up & rewatched it, it really felt like the story is crafted so well & executed at such a high level that anyone is capable of relating to it in someway or another. It's stuff like that, that we are deeply lacking nowadays. So much so that literal kid's cartoons from the 90's told deeper and more mature stories than most media nowadays. Stuff used to take pride in who can find the most creative ways to convey certain things. Who can give the audience certain feelings without overly explaining it. It used to not matter what kind of character, creature, species they were. What matters is that they found ways to convey artistic depictions of the Human condition. Creative ways that can connect us on a deeper level.
I'm so happy you gave some criticism of Black Widow, but I think everyone seems to think that her suicide in Endgame was such a fantastical character moment for her, when it nullified the rule set for the soul stone, while diminishing a payoff for hawkeye. In her first film (Iron Man 2), she's clearly a cold agent and only on mission. In Avengers, she and Hawkeye clearly has history, and she goes out of her way to help him specifically. Avengers 2, she seems heartbroken about Hawkeye's family life, while also trying to find social company in bruce banner. Winter Soldier is similar to IM2 but she is also more open to Captain America, showing her desire for acceptance. Civil War, she initiates the request to stay friends with Hawkeye in their skirmish. After Infinity War and in Endgame, Hawkeye goes lone wolf because he lost everything (clearly doesn't care about the team or Natasha) while Black Widow is STALKING him for 5 years. When the time experiment initiates, Hawkeye volunteers because he doesn't care about dying since he lost everything. He is even in a spot of grief when he sees his family again but gets pulled back (which, to anyone, is foreshadowing his sacrifice). When they go to the soul stone, Black Widow dies, who was fairly established for the entire MCU to not be the dearest thing to Hawkeye. Clearly, Black Widow wanted acceptance, and felt that most closely with Hawkeye. Had Hawkeye died, giving his last request to save his family, he would have completed his own arc in the same film, while Widow would have lost that which she cherished dearest, hence giving her the soul stone. TLDR: Black Widow dying made me laugh out loud in the cinema because I thought they just lost the soul stone, since Hawkeye didn't care even fractionally for Widow.
I really like black widow but dang you have a strong point and it would have been great to see that character Having a big cast of heroes doing different things from one another would have been great, lean into their strengths and rely on each other for the things they cannot do individually It’s like they presented that a lot in infinity war and end game but the delivery of that was poorly executed in my opinion
Yeah he mentioned the heroes love interests giving them super powers in their comic runs. Also instead of giving us the female characters we want that is popular and well known in comics and animation during the early MCU days they pushed the unpopular, forgettable and unlikable marvel female characters from the 2010s and their self insert genderswap heroines.
The problem with blackwidow is mostly weird writing like it feels like they didn't have a plan for her but kept going like her whole existence was based on her being a hot sheild agent that is flirty and when they fixed her character (her movie) it was so late cuz she was dead
Natasha was my favorite mcu character. Can’t believe they killed her off but if she stayed with the other 2 ogs their characters probably would’ve became jokes like hulk and Thor ngl. I am excited for her to come back in secret wars though which comes out nearly a decade since we last saw her. Personally they handled her character better than Thor and he has 4 movies. 💀
All Marvel, and most western media, had to do is just copy Japan by simply avoiding toxic identity politics, focusing on good writing and characterization, and nothing else😕
I completely agree, Black Widow was done dirty by making her a front line fighter with the rest of the far physically superior members of the Avengers was downright dumb. And what you described as being a chameleon, that no one but another superspy like Nick Fury, can read, would make for a far more interesting story. What is even more infuriating is that we know the actress - Scarlett Johansson, can DO the role, with the exception of an authentic Russian accent, she has demonstrated in her other movies that she can turn her charisma and charm on and off like a switch. Her performance in "Under the Skin" (2013) gave me chills!
A lot of these film writers I swear think like this: *Ok shes a bad ass because she’s a woman-doing manly type stuff* Then good writers are like imo: *Shes a bad ass character who just happens to be a woman*
I was ready to be offended when you started talking about Black Widow not being a good enough character but ngl after listening to the whole thing I realised just how better and much more impactful she could've been!
The reason why Pepper was nearly written out was due to Palthrow's up and down relationship with Paramount/Disney. So they weren't sure if they were coming back. Also, let's not forget how they screwed over Maria Hill
Finally someone who actually addresses the missed potential of these characters and looks at why these characters are badly written instead of just being a misogynist.
For me, I thought they dropped a huge ball on the black widow movie. A movie that people have been waiting and begging for years. A movie that should have come out before her stupid unnecessary death. They had all this time to hire the best writers to give her a very compelling story and a GOOD villain. Taskmaster was reduced to a wet paper version.
War Machine is also different enough from Iron Man that he stands on his own. The suit looks different, it has different weapon systems and operations, and it’s most importantly, COOL. All these cheap replacements have negative cool factor 😂
Stark, Pym, T’challa, McCoy, Richards, Banner, Parker, Zola, The Leader and many others. We already have so many other geniuses in the mcu and some of them didn’t even had the chance to showcase it!
Regarding Pepper, I know the MCU doesn't have everything planned out like many claim and they do sh1t at a whim (which is why it's in such arse now), but if they wanted to have a capable female character in the movies, they should've went with Bethany Cabe, who was the primary love interest of Stark in the comics (she was the one who was with Stark when he first started drinking heavily) and was capable of holding her own in a fight because she was a trained agent. Pepper was always meant to be just a secretary and a friend of Tony who hates getting into superhero shenanigans (which is why she left working for Stark and married Happy to move away from Stark). But then again, Iron Man 3 has twenty million other problems that are more worthy of criticism. And yeah, regarding Sif, there aren't enough words in all languages of the world to describe my inner frustration with how the MCU completely fumbled with who by all accounts could've and should've been Thor's woman and the mother of his future children. Jaimie Alexander was a pitch perfect casting but they made Thor feel more romantic feelings toward his hammer than her. Pisses me off. If I could rewrite the first Thor, I'd make Sif and Thor a couple, and instead of Thor being coronated, it would be the wedding of him and Sif, and when he gets banished, he'd want to go back to Asgard not just cuz he misses his home, but because he wants to see the love of his life again. I'd keep Jane Foster, but instead make her a nurse that takes care of Thor with her ex-bf Donald Blake. If we had a great love story in those Thor movies, I don't think we would ever have to suffer from Taika's nonsense, because having Thor and Sif together go and fight for Asgard would make even Thor 2 with its piss-poor plot entertaining.
With Hela, i hate that Thor didn't even bother to talk her down. He never gave up on Loki despite everything he did. But with Hela, he gives up on her completely because Ragnorak?
@n0thum4n no, but they are siblings. She's his sister in the MCU. Something that's only touched on once amd never again. Don't even know why they bothered to do that if it didn't really have relevant later on.
I never thought of the plot hole about where Tony was during the winter soldier’s events, not even a lame excuse (he was in a coma for a year! lol). The I understand him not getting involved all the time in every movie, but that was a serious issue that involved huge stakes.
Would it have cost money to just have the Iron Man armor flying around and we could have someone mention that Tony is helping but we never see Tony's face onscreen?
Black widow’s character arc is the biggest missed opportunity of the MCU as a whole
And sharon carter
and Maria Hill
And in my opinion taskmaster
I really expected something better but not even blaming it on quarantine that can be excused
And Scarlet Witch. WTF was with the ending of WandaVision. WTF was up with Dr Strange MOM?
The MCU killed off the best female character.

Frrr i liked her so much, she was awesome.... man 😪
Agreed. First avengers when she finds out about Hawkeye is one of my favorite moments @TeenPerspektiva
True, though I think they missed some potential by not including the original Claire Voyant black widow.
I liked Gamora more
It wasn't until Black Widow's solo movie that i realized that Marvel failed her.
Black Widow in Endgame: “The Avengers are the only family I have”
Black Widow in her movie: Has her own family outside the Avengers.

However it wouldn’t been a some type of romantic relationship thing because Jan is with Hank in this version therefore Bruce would still had Betty as his love interest.

Especially when it's just having women on screen degrading men it misses the entire point of feminism. Women being capable, adaptive, using their own intelligence etc to earn their success is feminism; lifting women up at the expense of men is not and just plain lazy writing. Here’s something I really don’t like about about black widow in the mCU and it’s an element that has blend in other media. I know it’s probably something that came even before, but why is she an avenger by that I mean why is she part of the public eye team been a spy and all sounds like she should not be in the front lines.
I allways forget she's a spy tbh
She's just in the team because she's hot AF, its that simple.
Probably because she was shown fighting with the rest of the team during the alien invasion in the first Avenger movie.
I keep saying Natasha would’ve made more sense with Bucky Barnes. Not just because they were a thing in the comics but because they have similar backstories and struggles albeit in different ways.
(Also I think Jane was more interesting when she WASN’T a female version of Thor)
Let's hope Bucky have a thing with Yelena during or after Thunderbolts for:
1. Those 2 to have the dynamic relationship Steve and Nat had during TWS and the relationship Nat and Bucky had in the comics;
2. For Bucky to FINALLY have some happiness on his life and the same goes for Yelena.

Then again just because it was in the comics doesn't mean it's good, Rescue is fine compared to shit like One More Day or Mac Gargan being the primary Venom host or Civil War 2
They even found a good way to get around the Thanos Snap fuckery
Marvel has a lot female characters in their comics with tons of potential, but won’t give them proper writing and character development in their movies and TV series. It’s weird that for a brand that claims to be all inclusive, they are probably not always that way behind closed doors.

Most people who use m she u are just sexist wnd don't want wemon in franchises they pretend to like eveb tho they clearly have never watched it
I find the people making the M-SHE-U exhausting.

Since he literally built it.
posted it under another comment but its related, so i'll post it again :
what I don't understand about pepper is at the end of iron man 3 she did gain extremis powers, but then never uses it again.
MCU needs to hire this man as a writer 😭🙏
a big chunk of how widow is portrayed in the mcu is how basically janet van dyne should have been portrayed if appearing on the movies. loving, caring, quippy and the heart of the avengers. she's the one who keeps them grounded and not thinking they're gods on earth. she's to the avengers what sue storm is for the FF. i understand people not wanting to have hank pym as a main avenger on the MCU, but janet was obligatory. she needed to be there. either along scott lang, or hank. but she had to be there.
I hope to see Bethany and Madame Masque in
EA Motive's Iron Man game.
Hopefully they could show up in the future MU (Marvel Universe, like how the DCEU is now the DCU to differentiate) after Secret Wars reboots the MCU.

I’m sorry, a female hero being capable and on par with other heroes makes them a bad character that’s bullshit

Cindel(Aubree Miller) and Charal(Sian Philips) from Ewoks The Battle For Endor(1985) are both better well written and likable female characters than any of the Modern 2020 MCU films. Change my mind. They’re also both a good heroine and villainess respectively.
Female Thor should be called "Thora". It's a name in Norway. Real life names: Thora Hird, Thora Birch.
(which is weird because that should be one of the most important attributes that a director or a developer or an actor has in order to be successful at their job....?)
How is there no one that will fire these people who openly hate the fans, who hate the consumers were the one's who made their success in the first place..

I really like black widow but dang you have a strong point and it would have been great to see that character
Having a big cast of heroes doing different things from one another would have been great, lean into their strengths and rely on each other for the things they cannot do individually

Man you're ideas for Black Widow are absolutely great
Regarding Pepper, I know the MCU doesn't have everything planned out like many claim and they do sh1t at a whim (which is why it's in such arse now), but if they wanted to have a capable female character in the movies, they should've went with Bethany Cabe, who was the primary love interest of Stark in the comics (she was the one who was with Stark when he first started drinking heavily) and was capable of holding her own in a fight because she was a trained agent.
Hela and Thor don’t have the history that Loki and Thor have and there was no talking her down
@n0thum4n no, but they are siblings.
