i love the XG+ . we had the demo unit lent to us from DAF and its like night and day. our fleet is mostly CF and a XF but fingers crossed we are getting the XD next year maybe a couple of XF thrown in. But those cameras aren't my cup of tea I wasn't all that confident with them while hooked to the trailer so I was waiting for my fellow truckers to flash me in but near the end you get used to them but I'd say give me a conventional mirror any day.
Daf’s aren’t my cup of tea to be honest…the cameras are more problems to add to the bad crankcase ventilation design and constant low fuel pressure and brake warnings…Daf’s are shite people buy them cos they’re cheap and don’t have much of a waiting list at any given time. All the new gens DAFs are under warranty within 5years old for injector knocking. Which is a fuel quality problem as its only occuring in uk and Ireland.
Only truck that ever made me quit a job was a brand new 480 rear lift super space XF DAF back in 97 , I was supposed to be getting a 4000XL FODEN boss said his wife preferred the look of the DAF told him she can drive the poxing thing then and quit . Went on to own 2 4000XLs great motors

I work for a bus company who have a type of vehicle that there is only 1 diesel bus that have cameras the rest don't have any only the new electric and hydrogen have cameras. You also have to have extra type training to be able to drive it just because of the cameras. There are newer drivers than me who have been type trained meanwhile I haven't yet been type trained on it. I've seen what it looks like and I'm not a fan of the screen placements on buses in comparison to where they are on trucks
I dunno blindside mirror could definitely be a camera on a better turret... give us the ability to see when blindside backing into those truly horrendous spots... could even program it to always track to where the end of the trailer is.

I drive many different trucks from day to day. DAF is my least favourite. The ECO software on the latest ones, which you cannot switch off, is truly abysmal and just makes the trucks horrible to drive. Not to mention the unreliability of the things. I'll take an MAN any day.

I'm not the biggest fan of camera mirrors, I prefer the classic one that way I can look the driver in the face when I'm behind the truck and know he can see me
I've been driving a trial unit in Australia..660hp. Awesome bit of equipment. But they can get stuffed with the camera mirrors. They don't work well when towing two trailers in Australia. The bunk is awesome
I guess the DAF are just build for the European market. The US has different standards and requirements than most countries DAF will sell their trucks in.
Built by paccar too, and aside from the cab, the wheel stud pattern, and engine, they are built with the same parts as a KW, a lot of them still have kenworth stamp marks on the chassis
@MrHeatseeker30 must be different elsewhere, in NZ and Australia it's all built off of a kenworth frame, and you can actually see the kenworth stamping and casting marks in the parts, the only real difference is the cabs, engines and wheel PCD aside from the MX engine which the kenworth T410 has

Nope, never will cabovers are miserable to drive and live in compared to a modern conventional truck, I started driving truck in a 1980 International Cabovers, thought it was great till I got to drive a conventional, couldn't pay me enough to drive another cabover

They are really nice trucks.... However, they are hideously unreliable... Had about 20 of them at my old gaff and within 15000km they need there injectors changing or they need a bunch of injector cleaner running through them. They're filled up either at the yard or when they're on the road so fuel quality ain't the issue. The older models seem to have fewer problems when doing the rounds.

Not a fan of cameras for mirrors. When technology is in the equation, theres always something that can go wrong. If i told my dispatcher i cant make the load on time because my camera mirrors arent working, theyd laugh and tell me to get rid of that crap. Traditional mirrors dont fail, unless someone deliberately breaks it. Its fool proof!
I just with they would put the cammirror arms on the doors just below the window... So that you could see them.. cant see them up there... Bad for places with tight squeeses

I still miss the old west coast mirrors with a spot mirror top and bottom Can i get a cameramirror setup like that. I run tipper dumps and like the top mirror so i can see the bed top out without hitting the roof of the shed we dump in.
