That T-cab is a stunner. And just wait until you get behind the wheel of an American sleeper cab, or an Aussie sleeper cab, because you haven't seen huge yet. American trucks have bonnets so large they're actually called hoods, and they're fully integrated into the truck's design for cruising at Texas speed limits up to 75 and even 85 MPH. Maybe you can check out a team spec truck that's so huge it has an onboard kitchen and what you call a "water closet", a "loo", or a "lavatory." Refrigerators, Mounts for 42" TVs, cabinets sized for massive microwave ovens, and closets that hold your biggest bags (both carry-on and checked) are also the norm in most trucks here. The only improvement I'd like to see is a Scania V8 put in to an American (International Truck) sleeper cab... At least the the 6 cylinder just got here this year.
Hi Tim that was a beautiful t cab you really should get a brand new one for yourself one day . Yes its a bit confusing driving a left hook on European roads and then drive left hook in uk roads but i have been doing this to Europe for years so you eventually get used to it . That grey color is really nice suited this truck
Very nice TIM seeing you drive in Holland, Dutch music with an English bite specially for you ! Thanks for the nice vlog.😎👌 Nice torpedo cabin Scania !!

First time viewing your channel. I’m from Ontario Canada and drove truck for over 40 years. That Scania looks pretty nice. I haven’t been behind the wheel of a commercial vehicle in about 11 years now. Hopefully I will watch more of your videos.👍👍🇨🇦
In the mid-90's, I used to be a mechanic in the Scania dealership you passed. It's located in Drongen, along the E40 motorway. You could order a 4-series T-cab from the factory back then. Don't they sell them any more?
as a dutch, Torpedo variants of trucks are mostly used with shorter trailers like tippers(due to max weight they are shorter because it doesnt need to be that long before it enters its max allowed weight). the DAF XT's from A Jansen also looks amazing
What's the point of it? It's the same engine, worse aero then modern cabovers, the cab is as high as on the cabover, the safety is questionable (non standard cab mounts, does it have solutions to move the engine out of the way in a head on collision, were they crush tested at all?). Is it just for the looks?
Hi Tim , I hear you when I worked in Canada 2013 driving a left hand Truck was weird ,but when trailer was on took me while to get hang off backing up, messed with my head, your blind spot is now your driving position, and your driving position is your blind spot 😦, But when I got used to it I actually loved it found it easier to drive than right hand sided truck and trailer
If he is having that much issue with that short bonnet as they call it, he would hate driving on of our classic long hood trucks in America! We don't have no cameras on the front to see how close you are to a car in front of you! I understand, though! He is used to a cabover! I'd probably have a problem driving a cabover. I'm used to a very long square hood out front! I sometimes have an issue driving a truck with a slant hood, similar to what he is driving, simply bcuz I can't see the hood from the driver seat. The classic hood makes it easier to judge proximity and turns bcuz I can see my hood. Even if I'm low in the seat, I can still see my hood! I definitely don't prefer slant hood trucks at all! Give me a classic long hood and I'm happy! I do want to experience a Scania, though! They are some high tech trucks, even though I prefer analog for a lack of better words! Basically a truck without all of the tech! Just a truck with 18 manual gears and a very strong CAT motor, preferably over 800 Horsepower like the truck I used to drive, which was a 1995 Peterbilt 379 with a mechanical CAT 3406b engine! I loved it!
I don't think you would have much problem with driving a cabover. The cab is as wide as the truck and pretty much nothing is in front of the windshield. From the cab you can see almost exactly where the outlines of the truck are and also pretty good if something is in front of the truck. And in combination with a short wheelbase (some 6x2 trucks with a lifted tag axle have as short wheelbase as around 10ft. These trucks don't need much more space than a little car. They're just wider. You would enjoy driving it in tight areas - but of course long hood trucks with longer wheel bases are more comfortable on long distances. In the 1960's and 1970's when I grew up here in Finland most of our bigger trucks still had shorter or longer hoods except for low weight high volume transports. For dump trucks and timber trucks the weight limit came against before the lenght limit. Cabovers were often small delivery and service trucks. These hooded trucks usually had marker sticks at the end of the front bumpers so you could see exactly where the front was.

I coudn't agree more. Those were real T-cabs. This is what you get when you move the cab backwards and put a bonnet in front of it. I think already the T164 had the same "syndrome". But they can look better. Look up "Tuft Custom Services" from Norway. Their trucks look way cooler
Just watched after being at Devon truck show today. A massive thank you to nipper for arranging for you to and collect the t cab. One day soon maybe you’re collecting your own.
If you know why all American "big rigs" today have bonnets you have the answer. "Truck Topia" has made videos about this. It's about comfort, safety and no need to tilt the cab when you need access to the engine. But "looking cool" is indeed the main reason here. Many truckers spend a lot of money on customising thir trucks.
Hey Trucker Tim when you get your Scania T Cab make sure it's the right hand side one it would look really awesome in your colours the same as your Scania R Series and I hope that one day that you will get your Scania T Cab Tim.
haha I like this video! As a Dutchman who left to Asia long time ago where they drive on the left side, it's funny to see how scary it can be to drive on the opposite site of the road with the steering wheel on the other side as well. Your orientations and feel of dimensions of the vehicle are so off in the beginning when steering around the corner. Even entering the main road looking right left right and now left right left can be confusing. Putting on your seatbelt, checking your inside mirror, using your blinkers and window wipers it's all confusing in the beginning. Even many years later if you have to get in the car approaching from the front you'll have your moments where you think do I have to enter left or right. And now it's the other way around when in visit Europe, have to get used to everything again. BTW it's funny how you say vals-tu-in, (vlastuin), the 'ui' is a letter combination with it's own sound very difficult for foreigners to pronounce, but you could have at least the first part correct haha ;)
Very nice video and i prepose ,you like visiting the Netherlands (not Holland, that are only those 2 provences Nord and South Holland) and driving the roads up here. The last station, where you got out of the train was Veenendaal de Klomp(The wooden shoe),when i saw/regonized that right. What i'm asking myself, why this car wasn't build to English standards?: right seated Greats from Arnhem .
I think this truck would look even better as a tandem axle, with a bigger sleeper, and two beautiful stacks sticking up on the back! It's still a beautiful truck, though! It's so weird to see someone so excited to drive a conventional tractor, but it's fun to watch, and I love it, lol! I guess bcuz that's what we're already used to in the states! I now want to see this same guy drive a classic American long hood, just to see his reaction, etc., lol!
Scania made T-cabs until 2005. They stopped making them due to dramatically decreased demand during the previous 10 years. Now they're just a custom thing. The T-cab will not be re-introduced. The overall lenght restrictions is the reason.
@@jamesoldman3021 T stands for "Torpedo" and is exclusive for Scania. This is what Scania have called their bonnet or hooded trucks since the "GPRT" letter codes (that stand for the models of the cabs) were introduced along with the 2-series in 1980.
I have been driving to UK for 8 Years but with DFDS. As i sea since last update of Calais nothing changed. But I do have say Scania looks perfect. I do drive now R450 and has 626 000 km. Still as a new one :) As do I see you didn´t changed to ferry mode ? I know you are not having cabin, but you could leave it in just bed mode ? End of the video was perfect. I did subcribe to your videos. Looks good fun to watch them.
Ooh, you had me nearly. I thought this was gonna be the video for your new t-cab Which I would have been over the moon for u can't wait to see this video again when you're picking up yours 🤘🏾
So do Scania not build T Cabs themselves at factory or are they all built here (or do other fabrication companies build them as well)?? Sorry probably a stupid question.
Not stupid at all. Scania made their own T-cabs until 2005. They stopped making them due to dramatically decreased demand during the previous ten years. This company buys cabovers from different manufacturers and convert them to bonnet trucks. I don't think this is the only company that makes them, but this is most likely the most famous.
They are not better, I would say they are worse than single deck trains, because you have less space, but they are necessary here because of the amount of passengers in the Netherlands, especially in the Amsterdam-Rotterdam parts . In London area they should be useful, in the rest of the UK not so much
M8 iv just recently passed my cdl in usa which is invalid in uk, so just to agree with you yes you do feel like king of the road wen driving a long nose, the trucks i was driving were freightliner cascadias, 👌👌
Just a tip for Dutch trains, first class is meant for working on laptop for example but also for sleeping and/or rest. You could be asked to be quiet please. You might want to ask them how to pronounce the name, as you completely butchering it haha Why didn't you cross from "Hook of Holland" Netherlands to Harwich. It probably would be shorter for you to drive and less traffic and as well cheaper. They probably can make you a right hand side T-cab if you deliver the right truck. What Vlastuin produces is just insanely skilled so bet you can ask them about it.

Just watched after being at Devon truck show today. A massive thank you to nipper for arranging for you to and collect the t cab. One day soon maybe you’re collecting your own.
What is the advantage of a T-Cab apart from looking cool?
If you know why all American "big rigs" today have bonnets you have the answer. "Truck Topia" has made videos about this. It's about comfort, safety and no need to tilt the cab when you need access to the engine. But "looking cool" is indeed the main reason here. Many truckers spend a lot of money on customising thir trucks.
I dropped off some parts for Darren yesterday and saw the truck. It is nice in the flesh
13:18 haha I sang slip the clutch as you were singing it!
Definitely need more adventure like that nice and clean cut video it's great to see that side of you again great video. 👍
Hey Trucker Tim when you get your Scania T Cab make sure it's the right hand side one it would look really awesome in your colours the same as your Scania R Series and I hope that one day that you will get your Scania T Cab Tim.
Nice one. There's a poulterer across that train station in Veenendaal where I have to unload sometimes.
haha I like this video!
What i'm asking myself, why this car wasn't build to English standards?: right seated
Greats from Arnhem .
All T cabs are LHD
Awesome video timbo.. finally getting to live your dream!! What a truck!! 👌👌
The 'T-Cab' truck is beautiful. But I'm curious about why it's being done? Is it purely for looks, or is there a technical reason?
It's just for looks.
Didnt expect this! Nice job Tim!
Hope to see you at Assen this year :)
9:20 The way you glanced over at the seat as though you lost someone who used to sit there😅
this is stunning thanks for taking us with you
Scania should make T cab official again and sell it in the US.
What did you insert? What is that thing?
I'm new on the channel, that's why I'm asking.
Is the T-Cab something that will be introduced or will the majority stay with the CO design?
Scania made T-cabs until 2005. They stopped making them due to dramatically decreased demand during the previous 10 years. Now they're just a custom thing. The T-cab will not be re-introduced. The overall lenght restrictions is the reason.

Thanks for the answer. What does the T stand for?
@@jamesoldman3021 T stands for "Torpedo" and is exclusive for Scania. This is what Scania have called their bonnet or hooded trucks since the "GPRT" letter codes (that stand for the models of the cabs) were introduced along with the 2-series in 1980.

Thanks. North American here so know nothing about this.
That T-cab recovery truck was beautiful! I want one!
Scania T Cab looks great Trucker Tim
I have been driving to UK for 8 Years but with DFDS. As i sea since last update of Calais nothing changed. But I do have say Scania looks perfect. I do drive now R450 and has 626 000 km. Still as a new one :) As do I see you didn´t changed to ferry mode ? I know you are not having cabin, but you could leave it in just bed mode ? End of the video was perfect. I did subcribe to your videos. Looks good fun to watch them.
What an opportunity and what awesome looking truck 😍🙂
Cool stuff Tim! Hopefully you get your own t-cab someday ❤
British Railways had Double Decker trains in the 60s , but they didn’t catch on , Nice Truck 👍🏻
They are not better, I would say they are worse than single deck trains, because you have less space, but they are necessary here because of the amount of passengers in the Netherlands, especially in the Amsterdam-Rotterdam parts .
In London area they should be useful, in the rest of the UK not so much
The first train you got was a cross country class 170 built between 1999 and 2000
Next time you go Holland why don't you come back via Hook Van Holland to Harwich as it would be nearer for you thank going to Dover.
Excellent stuff, that did look like fun. Those double decker trains are interesting!
You might want to ask them how to pronounce the name, as you completely butchering it haha
Why didn't you cross from "Hook of Holland" Netherlands to Harwich. It probably would be shorter for you to drive and less traffic and as well cheaper.
They probably can make you a right hand side T-cab if you deliver the right truck. What Vlastuin produces is just insanely skilled so bet you can ask them about it.
