- Now that all the circular holes in the weed barrier have been cauterized, it time for our planting follow up. This year we’ve planted a wide variety of tomatoes, peppers, squash, carrots, beets, lettuce, kale, beans, peas and jumbo strawberry plants. Amongst the vegetables, we also added marigolds and sweet alyssum to attract pollinators. Once all the vegetable planting is complete, it’s time to begin planting all of our tender bulbs.
It's all looking fantastic! Yall are such an inspiration! THANK YOU for taking the time and trouble to bring us along with you!
Good morning Shelly. We equally pleased to have you along for the adventures. It's our pleasure. May we all take time to remember all of those who serve this Memorial Day. Thanks for watching, caring & sharing. Keep The Love Growing - Lynn & Richard - www.WisconsinGarden.com
I like it when you two come back from winter hibernation! Have a Sprechers!
Good morning OHIO! Yes, in spite of all our projects, we finally found time to get back in the garden. Almost all is planted except a few tender bulbs which we should complete this weekend. Then it's all about watering and inspecting progress. Say HI to the family for us. May we all take time to remember all of those who serve this Memorial Day. Thanks for watching, caring & sharing. Blue Morning Glories!
As pretty as they may be, I don't think so Tim. We're still pulling them out of 3 areas in our garden. May we all take time to remember all of those who serve this Memorial Day. Thanks for watching, caring & sharing. Keep The Love Growing - Lynn & Richard - www.WisconsinGarden.com

Wish we were neighbors ❤
You will be in tomato heaven.
Hi Barbara. One year we planted 68 tomatoes alone. Visitors from CA said we had more tomatoes than Heinz 57. Doubt that but cute. May we all take time to remember all of those who serve this Memorial Day. Thanks for watching, caring & sharing. Keep The Love Growing - Lynn & Richard - www.WisconsinGarden.com
We had frost this morning and we lost most peppers and tomatoes yet the flats were fine. Potatoes will have to grow back and the grapes are fried😭. Not One local weather said frost! I wanted to get hoops so I could easily cover everything, but I think my husband just wanted to repeat to me what his GMA always said, don’t plant until Memorial Day. Well he got his wish.
I have plenty of backup plants but may not have all the varieties because I gave some away. What a loss. Been a bad year so far and a really bad week. Ugh! Even the raspberries and blackberries were hit. It was 33.4* for about 55 minutes. So discouraged that I’m thinking a high tunnel is almost necessary.
On NO! What a terrible way to start the growing season. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. So glad you have some backup plants, but we know they are not all you started with.
We're sorry your husband isn't supporting your sadness as you would like, but with everything warming up earlier this year, we all thought we were safe to start a bit earlier. There's nothing magical about the end of May, but who can wait that long when it seems to be warm and you're itching to get started.
May you new week go MUCH better. May you get your new plants in the ground asap and may your perennials come back stronger. Please keep us posted on how things work out. :)

@@WisconsinGarden thank you, it’s been a ruff time. I will be taking a count tomorrow to see where I’m at on varieties. I have some fertilizer for root growth I may use on the berries and grapes that may help and keep them watered. This wasn’t the worst part of the week, that was Monday a sister passed away after a brief illness.
Thanks again and hope we get some rain. I’ve mulched everything to slow water loss. A gal in Hayward said they had a bit of rain, but not enough and have high fire warnings. We are in gasoline alley in south central WI with pines, cedars and oaks and hope there are no fires. It’s going to be so hot this week. Sigh.
Oh, and I got some 9 gauge wire today that I think will make great easy to use hoops for shade, frost, bird, bug covers. I was going to order the hoops until I seen over $70 ship charge. I’ll let you know how it goes.
I had to save a poor tree frog that was trapped in our rain stock tank. It’s a good thing I was by it and heard it thump trying to get out. Lessen learned that I need to cover tanks even when empty. Poor thing.
@@WisconsinGarden Here’s the update. I took a count on frosted plants. The south garden was planted ahead of north garden and seemed to be sheltered by the trees and strength of being planted longer. About a handful of peppers and tomatoes are in sorry shape, but they are showing growth from bottom and think we will be ok. The north garden there is only about a handful out of about 50 plants that has any hope and that’s ok. I believe this will be another learning experience and may find those plants to be very prolific.
I’m feeling better about the loss as I believe I will have at least 1 of all varieties to see what does well. I do know Jimmy Nardello peppers are very hardy as they look fantastic!
Yesterday I figured out how to make wire hoops for covers and it’s 9 gauge wire. It’s perfect! And a lot more reasonable than if I ordered them with $76 ship charge as that wouldn’t do. So I will be ready with covers in hand🤗
Thanks for the happier update. Lynn & Rickard.
