    I have been using this ruclips.net/user/postUgkx1_veP7CApJK_GWy_TczaMciuG64PqJeU as a handy reference book. I read through the book and enjoyed the little glimpses of examples. I love that this author believes in rescue dogs. The tips and training has been invaluable and gave me moments of...."how simple why didn't I think of it" so it's been a great tool. Thank you!

    I've had six dogs in my life and I've trained all of them very well. My latest, a 1 year old Rottweiler named Bruce is by far the most stubborn, smartest and confident I've ever seen. I've been working on this with him for 4 weeks now, using all the same techniques seen in this video which also happens to be the same techniques with my previous dogs. He is very smart. He plays along on a leash, does everything perfectly. Even with distractions like other dogs and people. The moment the lease comes off its fuck around time. The best part is the level of dedication he has to be the alpha. Let me give you a picture. He is perfect with a leash, he'll even be perfect off the lease up to a point. Say a person is on the other side of the fence and he goes over there. I'll call him with "Come", clicker and treat at the ready. He does it! Comes over, sits, get treat and then immediately takes off again. I quickly say "come, he does the same thing. gets the treat, gets the praise, waits a bit then runs over again. LOL! I need to make sure he's not training me for treats. I then fall back to long leash. He then go's back to being perfect again. Waits, stays and sits after the treat and everything. Little sneaker. He's not an aggressive dog at all. He only wants to lick and cuddle EVERYTHING her sees.
    His desire for affection supersedes everything else. It has to do with his background. 2 young girls adopted him at birth when he all soft and cuddly and small. Now that he's bigger(80 pounds and all teeth) they decided they didn't want him anymore. His first year at their home he was in charge of the house. He would demand food, affection and anything else he desired. They compiled because "he was SO cute". As he got older and found his bark they got scared when he would bark at them for food or affection. He took full advantage of it. 2 young girls, a mother and 2 female cats. He was the only guy. He figured that out pretty quick. Now they complied out of fear of getting bit by him. That's when their mother asked for my help to take him in and change his behavior before he turned into something scary. So here we are. I've gotten the demanding bark out of him. He's reverted to using "cute and cuddly" tactics, but is now looking for new ways to manipulate. It ain't happening. I've been down this road before and I'm confident I can help him grow. This isn't a plea for help post but more of a never give up and adopt a "it's a lifestyle" post. If you have a dog that does not want to learn as easily as the dogs in these videos don't give up. Stay consistent and make his training a lifestyle. From the moment you wake up to when you go to bed there needs to be repetition. Don't let them train you with whining, crying, barking or any other sneaky stuff. They are dogs. They learn by watching patterns.

    I finally found a trainer that uses positive reinforcement that works. Love your video! Most of all, after years of failure, I have learned training is not task oriented. It is all about dogs learning the meaning and purpose of the task they are being taught. The concept is so simple. I just didn't understand it until I saw your video. Thanks ever so much! :)

    Dude you gave away “the secret” to do this, because from Cesar Milan and dozen others you are the cleaning clearest more concise and practical!, the rest were talking too much or showing too little, etc, thank you my unruly border collie Pomeranian has been embarrassing this war veteran leader for a long time by ignoring my commands!!. I used to do these things by instinct much before the Army but I finally met my match. I’ve relaxed though now retired so probably that is why, but I see in many people not having leadership skills when it comes to dog training driving the, absolutely insane, and myself by just observing them!! Lol, So thank you again for sharing man, will keep you in mind and I wish you become as famous as Milan!!

    Great that was really well explained. Your dog not coming to you when it is called is very frustrating and can often lead to doggy parents getting angry. Which then breaks down any attempt to get the whole process right.

    I like the advice you provide and the presentation. It would be great if you could show your techniques with an untrained dog so that you can demonstrate the technique works. Your dog is obviously already used to the command. Please take this as constructive criticism. All best.

This is the first guide I've seen that goes over the foundational aspects of this command, and I'm really hopeful that this will be the method that fits for us. Thank you so much, seriously. Extremely well done I use the yes more than a clicker because your tone of voice that comes out when you say Yes Is the tone that is enhancing positive reinforcement and it gets them excited to come towards you since you become the most exciting thing then if they are not coming I'd clap or make a silly noise and turn around and jog away from them a few steps they usually come running

    Thank you for always posting positive training techniques. I'm starting out as a positive trainer, and I am constantly looking to books and other trainers to see how they train certain techniques compared to what i know. This is the first time I had a client ask to train an off leash recall so I wanted to double check what I know. Its awesome to have somewhere to look.

      What do most of your clients ask you to train?

  • @Akillez99
    @Akillez99 10 лет назад +4

    i don't like this video or the training. It is not effective. He said you have to keep them on a long leash because there is "no other way to set your dog up for success." A clicker and long leash is not the way to teach your dog. Nor should you use treats as a reward. This does not teach your dog to respect you.

      How do you do then, please?

      meusisto I know my dogs and i bond with them before trying any off leash. I show that i am alpha of my house and everyone listens to me and what i want with positive reinforcement. . I got my boxer 3 weeks ago. with in 3 days of having her all her bad habitats that the rescue said she had no longer exist. by the end of week one she sat laid came with called in the back yard. Now by week three she goes out front with my other two dogs my self and/or my wife. No one goes into the street chases cars or people walking or riding by. Get to know your dog be alpha and never contradict yourself be clear and use short words Name of dog Here. Name of dog SIt. Name of dog Stay. Name of dog shake. Name of dog lay. If you give animals an inch they will take a mile because your no longer showing you are alpha.

      Thank you very much for your insight. I got a dog 4 days ago, already adult, from the street. I could correct some bad habits of it without any treat. She follows me when I go to the street off leash, but stops to sniff or to interact with what she wants, till she sees I'm already going far, so she runs, as she doesn't want to be far from me. How could I make her follow me and only stop when I want? I also taught her to come to me, by simply pointing to the ground (again, without any reward other than my approval), but this "come!" doesn't mean to her "come and be here till I tell you to go", it means "come, then go when you want". How would you tell me to solve this kind of things? This is the first time I have a dog.

      meusisto Sounds like your doing a pretty good job for your 1st time. You might try the come and stay command next. progressively working your way further from her.Also you can make her heal. This is come and stand just behind and to the side of your right or left leg. This one is easier to do with treats(food (i like cheese because its not as bad for them as dog treats or if the dog is toy driven a ball and fetch kinda of thing) because it does take a lot of positive reinforcement.

    Would allow this gent to work with my dogs any time. I like the positive aspect. Any and all silly comments are just that. I like that he takes the time to assist folks, provides clear instruction and surely has a great bond with his dog! If he was local, he would probably be our trainer (mine and my dogs) .
