Fun fact: German Shepherds are known for their strong sense of smell and are often used as police dogs and in search and rescue missions. They are also frequently used as service dogs due to their strong work ethic and protective nature. But don't be fooled - these intelligent and loyal pups make great family pets too!

One of the best training videos because she used a new dog & thoroughly explained the steps, great trainer
All the little tiny details she is mentioning are just what I needed for a refresher!
Love Australian cattle dogs. Had one for the last nine years. What an incredible friend. Got him a little maligator to play with two years ago. They’re best friends. Inseparable. Fiercely loyal to their humans. Amazing dogs.
Maligator…too funny, and very apt
This is the best place & stay instructional on the internet, hands down. Thank you for this!
The trainer, was amazing 👌 her methods of teaching were very educative. I learned a lot!
That was great. Seeing her train that dog in real time, with all the mis-steps was super helpful. Thank you!
Excellent video. Enough intro. The training was cumulative and allowed me to build my skills as well as the dog’s skills. And the conclusion was a clear brief summary. New SUB!
Excellent! Thank you for subbing! :)
Cute little cattle dog♥️ I have a little female cattle dog too & can’t wait to try this with her.
Also I was on the edge of my seat wondering it’s she’s gonna step off before you released her😅. Great video.
exactly the video i needed
Definitely one of the best place tutorials I’ve seen out there ❤️
Great stuff and very valuable... wish she did not hide her eyes with the shades. Nothing weird, just wanna see her eye expression during the training session. Very good stuff!
We love your exercise for dog's
Thank you for app your helpful videos!
Loved this video. My pup is doing well at "Place" but this gave me some helpful tips on upping the game and tuning up reliability. Thanks for sharing this, Nate!
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching! :)

This is a very helpful tip and I will use it for training my dog.
Excellent video with 3 D's. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks
Excellent as always!
Thanks, Tim! :)
Great video!
that was great Natwe thx
Greetings...this woman is good to watch in every video. Time permitting, can this woman, Bethany do more videos on your channel? Thanks for your content Nate. Terrific channel.
Do you have any tips on how to build confidence in an adult dog? My girl has issues with fear based aggression. She’s so nervous all the time. I need to work on her confidence so she isn’t so fearful of (literally) everything before I begin socialization.
These tips are really useful tho.
Great information but camera needed to zoom out a little so we can see both and also not so much of moving the camera around.
This is wonderful but my dog is tiny and doesn’t have a cot, is there a way I could teach this with her kennel? She also doesn’t have a release word but we’re almost there.
2:39 Yes, good.
What treats do you use for this training? Thanks
Good, informative video. One comment I'd make is that from watching your earlier videos, Bethany's approach is somewhat different to yours (implied stay, terminal/continuous markers, etc.). Obviously, there are many techniques to train animals - all of which will work. As a suggestion, you could make this clearer in your introduction - initially I found it a little confusing as the technique changes compared with what people might be expecting from watching your obedience series.
Great suggestion. Thank you! Cheers!
@@NateSchoemer No worries. Again, not trying to diss Bethany at all - it's just that I have gone through binge watching your obedience series from a couple of years back (thanks btw!!), so expected the same kind of thing.
Does this work for dogs with separation anxiety or anxiety from things like thunder?
Does it have to be something they climb on to or is just a foam bed ok to use.
My dog -stay - ok sucker -see ya, out through cattle fence and into sage brush, that was at first.
Now it’s - ok I can do this and she stays. Boy those rabbits are tempting though.
I do have a question. When working on duration, Bethany counts between treats. Can/should the count number vary? Animals can become accustomed to routine, which includes, to my understanding, intervals. I have been varying the time between treats so the anticipation remains. Please correct any misconception/misunderstanding on my part. Thanks.
Yes. Animals can become accustomed to routine, which includes intervals.
"I have been varying the time between treats so the anticipation remains." I do the same and it's what I recommend. Cheers!
I started this morning for ten minutes we tried. Omg my dog just won’t listen. Can it be anything for them to go to or must be a raised bed
What if i cannot lure my dog anywhere? he does not get easily lured by treats, prizes, regular dog food, etc..? I have tried physically guiding him and then give him a treat 100s of times but he does not seem to catch on.
Building on place/stay, how do you address a dog that will stay in they can see you but won't stay as soon as you leave the room?
A little confused…was “good” her marker word? Thank you!
My dog always moves when I bend Dow to give treat any help?
2:57 I see, add another step
Thanks
Awesome. Our white female Masada stays great. But Sergeant our male is really Stubborn. Haha
I think the dog will start thinking , break means getting off something higher up if you do it like this.
0:15 Ha yeah.
Teach your Akita Mally cross Puppy . to be nice to 3 kitty cats , Hahahha . Please make a video . 2 weeks in here and they still all here ... but his high prey and pupyy giddyness lol,.
How do you avoid them from only doing this for food?
👍🌸🌸🌸🌷🌷🌷
I’m getting a lot out of these vedios. I want to get a service dog that I can mostly train myself. I have a lot of different disabilities including seizures
Nice spectacle though
Think I'll stick with "Bed" then snap. Usually works. Just need to get him to stay there...🤔
why use break, when the dog is demonstrating "off"
My dog is too emo to enjoy repeated behaviors to learn unless it's searching for things. I keep telling him he can't be a detective if he doesn't even know "investigate" but he ignores me until I call him "Detective"🤣
Eh? 🤣
Great demonstration! But my puppy isn't food motivated at all. And I have over 30 different treat options, including meat. She eats her meals calmly and slowly. Same with high value treats.I would love to see some puppy training videos that don't rely so heavily on treats.
I thought my dog spoke english, even tho i'm dutch
3:13 dog barking , bye video.
Are u training a fox lol
She is speaking way to fast
Good video except that the trainer went through this so quickly that it'll take me a number of views to break down each of the steps in or to replicate.
