This is one of the most fairly balanced JP ranking lists I've seen. Nice to see someone else who thinks Jugulator is a brilliantly heavy album. The top four and the bottom three are spot on.
Great video! My No.1 is Screaming For Vengeance. Defenders Of The Faith is kinda like a part two to that album I feel, probably because it was after it. Firepower is a modern masterpiece, I’m looking forward to the new album hopefully coming soon.
So nice to see proper Judas Priest fans who actually enjoys Jugulator. It has it's ups and downs, but there's some outstanding stuff on it, but the last two songs - Bullet Train and Cathedral Spries....maaaaan :) Cathedral Spires is my personal favorite all time Judas Priest song that I never get sick of :) I am not a fan of British Steel, but we agree about what's their best album :) Nothing they have ever made can beat it :)

You hit the nail on the head. Lazy choruses and also no time changes on any song in 50 years prevents me from seeing them how others (especially in America) see them. I like them and some songs I love but out of 18 albums I really only love a handful of albums. I think they are better now than they ever were which is good and Firepower is awesome so I'm certainly a day one buyer when they put out a new one. Great video mate.
Very few albums have no filler on at all it has to be said but when they get it right they really get it right. And yeah these guys wouldn't know a time change if it slapped them round the face. Cheers Mike
How is their no time changes in 50 years are you for real? I bet you've not listened to all their discography. Every single album sounds different and more aggressive. Priest play harmony dual lead guitar patterns which is more difficult to master than other generic Metal bands. Scott Travis is also one of the best drummers with quality tempo. Turbo to Painkiller is a huge jump in sound. I'd never have Turbo album above Sad Wings Of Destiny review guy. Each to their own though!
The song 'Painkiller' by Judas Priest has a tempo of 103 beats per minute (BPM) on 'Painkiller'. Compare it to Run Of The Mill off their debut. Priest play dual lead guitar patterns in their songs which is far more technical than most generic Metal bands. Priest are innovators of Heavy Metal. Try play dual lead guitar patterns and you'd see how difficult it actually is. Glenn Tipton & KK Downing are innovative songwriters.
@@YinWhoo-zx2sz You haven't understood what I was saying. I'm not stupid to think they don't in 50 years have songs at different tempos 😂. I'm saying within a song they don't have any tempo changes.

Finnaly, someone giving Jugulator some love! Massive fan of this album and I definitely think it's Priest's heaviest sounding record. 'Brain Dead' is my favorite on there, love the vocals, lyrics are pretty dark it has to be said... I really hope Jugulator & Demolition will get a proper reissue soon, don't think they've ever been released on vinyl 🤔
I've never understood the dislike for Jugulator. I've loved it from day 1 and can't understand why people bitch about it. Vinyl reissued be great but I don't see ut happening as the band don't seem to acknowledge the Ripper years. Thanks for watching and commenting
@@mrboulder9714 I second this Jugulator is immensely missing the discussion it deserves. The album just sounds great and is undoubtedly thrash influenced.
Everyone hated Turbo when it came out especially Turbo Lover. But when they play it live it sounds much better than the album version. I have to say I like the album much more now lol I just think we were expecting something different
Interesting ranking. Especially the high rankings of Turbo and Demolition. Both don’t stand the rest of time. Turbo is juvenile, I’m no longer 14 years old. Sad wings should be ranked higher and so is Rock a Rolla. But you love Priest as much as I do and that’s a blessing. Happy New Year.
Turbo is indeed juvenile but i still love the album. Jugulator has definitely stood the test of time and is dismissed by many just because Rob Halford isn't on it. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers
Perfect racking. Painkiller is my number one as well. I remember when that album came out it I listened to that thing everyday for months and still go back to it when I am in the mood for listening to Judas Priest. Screaming For Vengeance, Killing Machine and Defenders of the Faith would be my 2nd,3rd and 4th.
Excellent video James. Spot on with the ranking, Painkiller is easily number 1! Triumph of an album. Thanks for showing some love to 'Jugulator', criminally underrated record. Don't know were it has gone wrong with the follow-up: Demolition....dreadful album
Cheers Kenan. Yep Painkiller is an absolute beast. Agreed on Demolition, absolutely dreadful album after the brilliance of the very Underrated Jugulator
Blimey, a year late on this one, lol. But, i must take exception as to Take On The World. I don't think i've heard anyone liking that song. I personally think it's a fantastic anthem...that guitar coming in just before the chorus is just so nice!! A lot don't like Evening Star either (both the singles from the album), but like yourself, i really like that one too. Could be of the age i guess, i was 15 in 79, lol. Finally, totally agree as to Sinner....could be my pick of all Priest tunes, sums them up perfectly at that time, and i might add, when they had that something very unique! But anyway, enjoy watching your videos Mr B.....even if a year later : ))
Their new album Invincible Shield is incredible and i feel it would be high up in the rankings near Firepower. The extended edition is amazing as the three extra songs are all fantastic and not just throwaway “extra” songs. I recently listened to I.S. And Firepower back to back and was sitting there like, “holy shit”…..
Sin after sin describes your ranking perfectly! WTF with Sin After Sin so low and Jugulator and Redeemer so high? Lol! We all hear these albums in our own way, perhaps I should give a bit more of my time to those albums myself.
Let me explain it to you. Sin After Sin is low and Jugulator and Redeemer of Souls are higher because I enjoy them more than I do Sin 😉 Thanks for watching
Nice ranking mate enjoyed it and good to see Jugulator so high on the list that was my 1st priest album I bought back in 1997 the live 98 meltdown album is a good document of the opens era too bloody expensive now though glad I hung on to my original copy!
Yeah Jugulator is a beast and very underrated. Yeah im glad i have that Metal Meltdown live album too, good to hear Tim singing the Halford songs. Cheers

Seeing these album covers is actually really interesting, especially the ones from the 70s and 80s. They must represent something culturally relevant.🤔
I've noticed that my ranking changes a lot, but Painkiller being my number 1 has never changed. It's my favourite straight up metal album ever. This is my current top 5: 1. Painkiller 2. Firepower 3. Ram It Down 4. Screaming For Vengeance 5. British Steel

You pretty much nailed the ranking of Judas Priest here, there’s nothing I would strongly disagree with (unlike your original Maiden ranking where you put Killers rock bottom, I was gobsmacked 🤣 still getting over it haha). The only slight change I would have made with your choices here is to rank Sad Wings of Destiny a little higher as I like that album a little more than you do and I think it has 4-5 classic Priest tracks. But my list would be very similar and my top 5 would be exactly the same as yours.
You're certainly not the only person who was gobsmacked about me putting Killers last in my Maiden ranking, I got quite a bit of heat over that 😄 Yeah I certainly don't have the same amount of love for Sad Wings that other people do, still some good stuff on it though. Thanks for watching and commenting fella

Great to see you do a Priest ranking mate! My opinions are pretty much on the opposite to yours James. I love the 70s records and apart from when they had some fire in their belly during Jugulator I havent liked a modern Priest record. I thought Fire power was ok but not enough for me to really like it. I love the song Epitaph from Sad Wings... beautiful tune, with great lyrics and Halfords lower register is brilliant ha! Haunting tune. They chased trends a lot didnt they? More obvious in the '80s I think. They had a strong Queen influence in part of their career too. Have you ever heard Suite Madame Blue by Styx? Bit of a wiff of Beyond The Realms on it ;) This has made me wanna do a Priest vid showing my favs! Great band and great vid mate. Hope yer doing good man.
They definitely had one eye on trends and tagged along to them. Not heard that Styx song, I'll have to check it out. I'd like to see a Priest video from you mate, that would be great. Cheers Jason
THANK YOU,THANK YOU,THANK YOU for recognizing the greatness of Jugulator!! This album has been receiving a lot of hate from everybody and I could never understand why! It is a great thrash metal album and it is fucking heavy!!! Although,I have to admit, the cover illustration sucks,Michael Whelan did it ,if I recall correctly and there is a full illustration printed in the inlay card .Damn,it looks good!.I will never understand why the full version was not put on the cover, instead, they decided to blow up the monster's mug and put out this low-res awful image as a main cover image. Weird!
I also don't get the hate for this album either. It's an absolute banger and Rippers vocals are absolutely amazing. The artwork is shite though 😄 Cheers for watching fella
Your list is a lot different from mine! I would put the two Ripper Owens albums at the bottom. I do not think any Judas Priest albums stink, but these two just did not sound like Priest to me and the lyrics are just kind of silly. I did really like the live album they did with Ripper though. A lot of people like Painkiller the best, but to me they were trying too hard to be a speed metal band after Travis joined. I agree with you about the lyrics to the song Turbo Lover. I love the music but the lyrics are a bit stupid! The rest of that album I thought was a bit bland though. My favorite two are Stained Class and then Firepower. I think Stained Class is one of the best heavy metal albums in rock history actually! Great video!
Demolition is really bad but for me Jugulator should be nowhere near the bottom of a Priest ranking, excellent album. Stained Class and Firepower are both excellent I agree. When it comes to great lyrics Priest aren't a band that spring to mind. Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed the video. Cheers
Good ranking there James and interesting to hear your thoughts on the albums. God to see some positives about Jugulator and Turbo. I think some of the closing tracks they try to do an "epic" song, but they just fall short, like Loch Ness and Monsters of rock. The drumming on the 80s albums is very poor, I think Les Binks was their best drummer and shame they didn't keep him after the 70s. Good points about later albums being very strong, right up to the present as well and the song writing being a bit weak and repetitive. But they're still one of my favourite bands.
They definitely have their flaws but still an amazing and.classic band. Jugulator and Turbo definitely don't deserve the hate that they get as far as I'm concerned. Cheers as always Grant
I haven't listened to their entire discography, but my rank is: 1 Stained Class 2 Killing Machine 3 Screaming for Vengance 4 Point of Entry 5 Sin After Sin 6 Sad Wings of Destiny 7 Defenders of the Faith 8 Turbo 9 Painkiller 10 Ram it Down 11 Demolition 12 Nostradamus

Very enjoyable ranking. I agree with quite a bit here, although I'm always perplexed by the love for Turbo. I lot of people seem to like that, but I think it's a giant pile of shite. Hi James!! Cool ranking and great thoughts about the band and some of their record too.... the thing with Priest is that i don't think they have ever made a perfect album, it's a mix if great songs and couple of two fillers in the mix like in the most iconic ones "Defenders...", "Screaming...." and Painkiller, i still like Firepower very much, can't argue Nostradamus, OMG!!! cheers
Cheers Cristian, yeah a lot of their albums have filler on them. Painkiller is the only one and maybe Screaming For Vengeance that font have any filler on them.

That Killing Machine Vinyl looks like a first press. Here in the USA they made them rename it Hell Bent For Leather because Killing Machine was "offensive."
Let me preface my rankings by saying I love your channel and you seem like an awesome guy BUT, I got a total kick out of you slamming the song Blood Red Skies and all the synths BUT then you love the synths in Turbo. Of course, we all know that Turbo and Ram It Down were supposed to originally be a double album called Twin Turbo. Anyways, onto my rankings. I'll also give my thoughts on a couple of albums. @@mrboulder9714 I do understand that but most people (or at least most people I know) recognise quality when they hear it but that seems to be lacking in your good self. @@ANationalAcrobat-qj2dl Maybe it is an age thing. Thanks for checking out the videos anyway, even though you didn't enjoy them as much as I would have liked. Cheers
@@mrboulder9714 It's not a question of "enjoying" - it is a case of utter bewilderment. Myself & the people I grew up with don't even consider Sabbath albums WITHOUT the original 4 to even be Black Sabbath - we think of them as The Tony Iommi Band & NONE of them are as good as the Iommi/Ward/Butler/Osbourne albums. I actually went to see the Heaven & Hell tour with my mates & the ONLY reason we went was to chant OZZY OZZY OZZY throughout the whole performance, which we did & we were not alone. To see that American midget stepping into Ozzy's shoes was an act of absolute sacrilege to us. I suppose you would have had to have lived through it to understand. It will be difficult for you to comprehend the height of the pedestal that we put Black Sabbath on during the 1970s. Best regards
Oof...we're so close on the Sabbath ranking but so far on this one. Stained class is my #1. Sin after sin #2 and Sad Wings #3. haha... DOn't worry though, Rocka ROlla isn't my fourth favourite Judas Priest album.
Alright Mr B, Well to be honest your ratings differ to mine but Turbo at No 5 had me tearing out what is left of my hair , it was total crap , sorry mate. Not as bad as that KK Priest Album however which has lyrics a five year old would reject. Still all the best and take care.
Eyy Rob Halford is reviewing his own band 😄 Jokes aside, I agree with many of these. Nostra and Demolition are garbage, but from there the quality jumps up by leaps and many people have different takes on the CDs
Could never listen to Judas Priest as could not get past Rob Halford’s vocals, (I’m in the minority). However I picked up painkiller album and love it , almost thrash like
But remember this is 1974 if you looked at what music sounded like in 1974 you would say that was heavy metal!!! if you were born in the 40's 1940's you would say that's heavy metal Rocka Rolla? Most people have Sad wings of Destiny well ahead of Turbo and Point of Entry but you don't everybody hears music differently? Working out in the Gym Hot Rockin so Turbo is in the top 10 different ? Only own Jugulator and I didn't like it 😅 but like most albums I've revisited I may have different opinions now? I certainly could do with picking up your top 3 but I've been saying that for a while now 😂🍻

Jugulator and Turbo ahead of the four horseman Sad Wings through Hell Bent. Obviously not a fan of classic Priest. Point of Entry ahead of Sad Wings sacrilege.
A lot of 'classic' Priest is average to me, albums with great songs and a lot of filler. And yes, i prefer Point of Entry over Sad Wings. Personal taste and all that
I don't include live albums in my album ranking videos, only albums featuring original material. And I shall be keeping studio albums in the titles going forward. Cheers
Clueless dude. Sad wings, Sin after sin and Stained Class at the bottom of the list. I agree with Painkiller being at the top, but the others i mentioned should be up there with Painkiller at the top 5.
@tiborosz1825 There's no Nu Metal on Jugulator at all. Where is the Nu Metal on that album? I personally don't really enjoy Sad Wings as much as others. I don't make video's to please everyone, my video's are my own personal choice. Music is subjective and we all have different opinions.

Great video!! I learned quite a bit and my favorite two are Painkiller and Screaming for Vengeance.
2 of their best and thank you. Cheers for watching and commenting, much appreciated
@@YinWhoo-zx2sz Tell me what songs have time changes then.

I've always loved Turbo. It was definitely Preist jumping on the Glam Metal train

Thanks for watching. It's very much appreciated. Cheers 🙂
Yeah, Invincible Shiled is fantastic. It would probably be right near the top of the ranking. Cheers for watching fella

@anthonypirera7598 You're welcome and thank you. I appreciate that
THANK YOU,THANK YOU,THANK YOU for recognizing the greatness of Jugulator!!
Cheers
I hate the 2 Ripper albums but Turbo is at the bottom

@@mrboulder9714 I do understand that but most people (or at least most people I know) recognise quality when they hear it but that seems to be lacking in your good self. Maybe it's an age thing - I have found that most of the people who do not recognise the quality of classic rock tend to be young kids like you who were not even born during the Ozzy Sabbath years or when the excellent "Sad Wings of Destiny" was first released.

Could never listen to Judas Priest as could not get past Rob Halford’s vocals, (I’m in the minority). However I picked up painkiller album and love it , almost thrash like
Painkiller is a beast and almost a Thrash Metal album. Cheers for watching and leaving a comment 👌
Where would you put invincible shield?
Not heard it enough yet to know where i would slot it in ti the ranking. Cheers
👌👏👏
Thanks for watching
But remember this is 1974 if you looked at what music sounded like in 1974 you would say that was heavy metal!!!
if you were born in the 40's 1940's you would say that's heavy metal Rocka Rolla?
Most people have Sad wings of Destiny well ahead of Turbo and Point of Entry but you don't everybody hears music differently?
Working out in the Gym Hot Rockin
so Turbo is in the top 10 different ?
I will try and rank some albums but just the important albums!!!
12. Ram it down - worst album in 1988
11. Painkiller - heavy and their heaviest
10. sin after sin - certainly heavy for 1977
9. Hell bent for leather
8. .Rocka a rolla heavy metal for 1974
7.Stained class
6.Turbo - 1986
5. Point of Entry - great songs and great guitar playing
4. Sad Wings a top 15 essential heavy metal albums
3. Defenders
2 British steel
1. Screaming
Cheers for sharing your thoughts on the ranking.
70's era is great , Sad Wings/Stained Class & Killing Machine are better than 80's albums British steel/Point of Entry/Turbo & Ram it Down. Screaming & Defenders are the best Priest albums . Not a big fan of Painkiller.
Stained Class and Killing Machine are great, not a massive fan of Sad Wings. Painkiller is an amazing album. Thanks for watching
I liked demolition better then jugulator
Really. Demolition has its moment's but i definitely prefer Jugulator
Jugulator, the most understimate album ever
Jugulator is massively underrated, a fantastic album from start to finish. Thank you for watching and commenting. Cheers
Only own Jugulator and I didn't like it 😅 but like most albums I've revisited I may have different opinions now? I certainly could do with picking up your top 3 but I've been saying that for a while now 😂🍻
Haha I love Jugulator. Try Painkiller mate, worth a listen definitely. Cheers Simon
How in good conscience can someone rank Turbo over Stained Class?!
Because I prefer it over Stained Class. Thanks for watching
No way Sad Wings that low
Yep, not a big fan of this one
I cannot understand why do you put Turbo so high! For me it is a total abomination, a pop album.Àd British Steel is heavily overrated with e goths horrible united. But I agree with you on Painkiller at least.
Well let me explain. This is my video, therefore it's my opinion. And i really like the Turbo album. Thanks for watching
Personal taste and all that
Leave the term studio album out of the title and put their best album at the top.
Why lol
@ianbarrett4166 Because then you would have Unleashed in the East on top and all the posers can go home.
I don't include live albums in my album ranking videos, only albums featuring original material. And I shall be keeping studio albums in the titles going forward. Cheers
@@McShaganpronouncedShaegen back to the east?
@@mrboulder9714 So I guess FRAMPTON COMES ALIVE! would be left off Peters best albums as well. Bless your heart
Clueless dude. Sad wings, Sin after sin and Stained Class at the bottom of the list. I agree with Painkiller being at the top, but the others i mentioned should be up there with Painkiller at the top 5.
Clueless 😂😂😂 This is my list, therefore my choices. Understand???
Yeah! Nostradamus-probaly the most boring album ever recorded ! Half of it sounds like some weird Vangelis-like crap.
Haha great description. Such a bad album
To me , TURBO is a P.O.S !!! Turbo Lover is by far JP'S worst song !!!
It was them definitely jumping on the Hair Metal bandwagon. Thanks for watching and commenting
Jugualtor better than Sad Wings of Destiny😅😅😅😅😅
Yep that's right
@@mrboulder9714 yes..one basically reinvented the metal genre the other is pseudo nu metal rubbish.
@@mrboulder9714 yeah but arguing is the fun. Otherwise whats the point in declaring what you like. I mean who cares then right?
@tiborosz1825 😂😂 Look I don't like arguing with viewers, I'm more than happy to have disagreements but i don't want to be arguing as it's pointless. Thanks for watching even if you didn't agree with my take on things 😊
