Interesting stuff James, lol I had a wee laugh when you held up Risk first as that one was kind of midway in mine. I was surprised (and quite pleased) to see Countdown didn’t even make your top 3 as I was expecting that to be your number 1 actually as almost everyone I know rates that as their fav for some reason. If you recall that was bottom of the pile for me. 😆 There are about 4 I don’t own so I obviously I can’t place them but 13 is one of them and you rated that pretty good. I really enjoy Endgame too. Good to hear your comments from a fan who knows their albums much than myself. Cheers. 🤘🤘🤘
Yeah I was amazed you had Countdown last, good that we all have different opinions though 🙂 Risk has its moments but overall is poor for me. Thanks for watching Bev 🙂
Thanks for watching and subscribing. Yeah the raw energy and a pissed off Mustaine is what makes Killing Is My Business such an amazing album. Thanks again
My Last Three: 3) Killing is My Business.... , 2) Rust In Peace, 1) Peace Sells... , but last three doesn't really matter.... all depends on mood which one you wanna listen to.
On "Risk" (from what i understand) Dave Mustaine said in an interview that some member of the band was trying to sway the group to go more Popular or Pop. That band member was let go (from what i heard)
Youthanasia is really underrated here, but give TSHF a shot. Apart from the last two songs, that record was a masterpiece. I would rank it even higher, as I think it's the best they had done so far in the 21st century.
My ranking 1. Peace sells ... But Whos Buying? 2. Countdown to exicton 3. Rust in peace 4. Endgame 5. Youthinsha 6. So Far, So Good.... So What? 7. The System has failed 8. Dystopia 9. Cryptic Writings 10. Killing is my business and... Business is good 11. Thrithen 12. Untitled Abomnitions 13 world needs a hero 14. Risk 15. Super colider
Excellent list! Now I do not own all Megadeth albums and have not even listen through some of the later ones but one I have is End game and that one is really good, perhaps a top 5 candidate. As for my favorite, peace sells by a hair from Rust.
Risk I don't know what Mustaine was thinking... And he was supposedly sober when he made that album. I sure hope not! Crazy that Dystopia is already eight years old. Seems like it came out yesterday!
My top 5... Countdown to Extinction Peace Sells... Cryptic Writings Rust In Peace Endgame I would also rank Hidden Treasures up high since Angry Again and 99 Ways To Die are amazing songs. I'd also add Kill the King in there too.
Tough to rank. 1 So Far So Good So What. Favourite track Mary Jane 2 Killing Is My Business. (Looking Down The Cross) 3 Rust In Peace (Holy Wars) 4 The System Has Failed (Tears In A Vial) 5 Peace Sells ( The Conjuring) 6 Cryptic Writings (Disintegrators) 7 Countdown To Extinction (Symphony of Destruction) 8 The Sick The Dying And The Dead (Sick Dying Dead) 9 Dystopia (The Threat is Real) 10 Th1rt3en (Deadly Nightshade) 11 Risk (Insomnia) 12 The World Needs A Hero (Disconnect) 13 Youthanasia (Elysian Fields) 14 Endgame (Sealed With A Kiss) 15 United Abominations (Gears of War) 16 Super Collider
Cool ranking 🤘Risk is what it is and would be last on most rankings I’m thinking. I enjoy all the rest. Looking forward to hearing the new Megadeth album. I agree Endgame is the best of the newer lot. Bite the hand, Headcrusher🤘😝🤘
A lot of great takes on this vid. Fun watch! I love talkin' rankings and having fun with it. This is your list and I respect that. But one area I wanna chit chat about is how you have The System Has Failed ahead of Youthanasia. I think you should re-consider n' hear my point of view of how Youthanasia should be higher than System. I agree with your number one btw. A perfect album. Youthanasia has a mood captured from opening to end. It's an album. The songwriting is purposeful and poignant. Dave's vocals are a beautiful blend of fire and melody. Sysyem is a collection of songs. It's disjointed and scattered. For obvious reason too as Dave was coming off an injury, then realized he owed another Megadeth record to fulfill his contract. Thus, his solo career on hold. His life was scattered and you can hear it. The thrashy bits of System seem forced and the softer/melodic writing is dated. He can't focus and System suffers for it. System is Dave turning the ship back to the thrash metal roots that serves the band. No knock on that, do what'cha do, it's a biz. But it can be artistically flawed. It's dangerous to go back to familiar ground and not repeat what you've done. Just look at Iron Maiden. The mix of System is bloated. The mixes of the early 00's overall has a lot of bottom end. It smothers The bass into a sludge and I think System's mix fell prey to that. Just like the entire remixed Megadeth discography. Ugh, what a tragedy that was. Except for the debut. I agree with you there! That WAS necessary. We can really hear Gar! The original mix of Youthanasia has everything where it should be. It breathes. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts. The songwriting on System is overall juvenile and not very interesting. Ex. Tears in a Vial, Something I'm Not, Die Dead Enough. The album cover of System plays it too safe. It's just a look back to the Peace Sells cover. But way worse. So uninspiring with poor execution. Youthanasia's cover (and overall art direction) is unique and thought provoking. It stands out and it sets the tone that matches the music within. Long story boring, Everything with Youthanasia is on brand and Megadeth is still growing in this era. They're still fighting. You can hear it. The System Has Failed sounds like Dave's over compensating. He caught some flak for Risk and The World Needs a Hero and it's like he's trying to make-up for it. Just because you play fast, sing dark lyrics, and shred a bevy of solos, doesn't make it good. It can be a fun listen, sure. But it's empty calories in the end. Maybe reconsider where you have these two albums on yer list. Personally, I like Youthanasia better than Countdown... but that's my list for another time. Fun stuff, man! Can't wait to see more!

I hear you on Th1rt3en and Dystopia, but I would have ranked both higher. I’ve been rocking out to Th1rt3en a lot lately and it’s definitely in top half, if not top five. Broderick is fantastic!
It hurt me when you said TWNAH so low. That album is actually pretty good. I like a lot of the songs on that release, it does lack the energy of most Megadeth albums. Super Solider has its problems but its got great guitar work. My least favorite album is Cryptic Writings, its just rubbish.
I agree with the majority of your Megadeth picks. Rust In Peace is definitely their best. You said you are recording an EP? What is the name of your band?
Yeah rust is definitely their best. My band's name is Of Concrete Gods, we have a RUclips channel you can check out ruclips.net/channel/UC1LdIK9wnxQ9jLmeDLjWvkQ
Hi thanks for watching. Fortunately I have the originals, I bought a best of on CD a while back that had the updated mixes and I wasn't a fan of them at all so I'm glad I held on to my originals.
@@mrboulder9714 nice one, I'm the opposite, I grew up with the remixes. When I discovered the orig mixes it was a revelation for me so I'm trying to get hold of the fav albums orig mixes, thankfully alot of the are now on Spotify.
Great video, after watching it inspired me to check out some of the lesser rated albums for the first time in years. Risk, really isn't that bad, as a rock album. Super Collider, really is bad imo 😄 Keep up the goodwork, would like to see a Saxon album show.
I think people would give Risk more praise if it didn't have the Megadeth name on it. Yeah Super Collider isn't great. Thanks for watching and commenting

@@mrboulder9714 it's my personal favorite Megadeth album. Between songs like Into The Lungs of Hell, Mary Jane, Hook in Mouth, Liar, In My Darkest Hour, 502, holy shit! The only downside to the album is their first excellent, but ill-fitting cover of Anarchy in The UK.
Great video James, love the first 4 albums even though they are all quite short and 3 of them have unnecessary covers on them. When 92 rolled around I was very unimpressed tbh but when Youthanasia come out I was absolutely done lol. O er the years I checked back on them and found some good songs along the way but as complete albums I got fed up of having to lower my expections all the time.

Just below Maiden in my favourite metal bands. Had to be Rust In Peace at number 1, obviously! And Risk at the bottom, terrible album. Surprised how high up you ranked their debut, one of my least favourites. I need to go back and listen to Thirteen and Endgame again, based on your recommendations. Its been too long since I last heard them!
I've only listened to half their discography, but Risk ain't good lol. I think I listened to Dystopia once as well, so I can't recall any songs aside from the title track. But yes Rust in Peace is indeed their magnum opus, a masterclass in tech thrash.
I really enjoye Super Collider. I wish Mustaine would write from his heart and not what he thunks the fans want to hear. I understand you have to have the fans to buy your music but you have to make honest music also because I feel like he's trying too hard to please everyone else besides himself.
please, peace sells is the best megadeth album by far!!!! I'm not saying that rust in peace isn't another masterpiece, but if we talk about thrash metal, peace sells is a kick in the balls, the album is fucking perfect If we analyze the two albums well, peace sells is better than rust in peace.....wake up dead, the conjurong, peace sells, my last words....good mourning black friday is the best meagadeth theme of street, at that time megadeth were young kids wanting to conquer the world, chrish poland, gar samuelson, ellefson dave mustaine !!!!! I was surprised when you said Hook in Mouth is not a strong way to end the album. It's one of Megadeth's best songs ever!! Everyone has different taste but I haven't heard anyone who doesn't like that song. Great video man!! You broke everything down nicely!! Good job.
Cheers for watching fella. I do like Hook In Mouth definitely but it's just not one of my favourite's on that album. Thanks for getting in touch and leaving a comment 🤘
@@Kyush4 those two albums specifically I am not a big fan of, but I felt that their modern resurgence really began with United Abominations and Endgame.
Would love to see more content on both from you. Dave Mustaine is a lyrical genius I love United Abominations because it is Dave holding them to account for political theatre, lies and contradictions.
Surprised to see The world needs a heroe so low. I understand SUPER COLLIDER is so low on the list. Its maybe my least fave together with RISK. United abominations is very political, a little to much i agree. Nice video. I keep watching. Will bd nice to see your top 5.
If Risk was a Mustaine solo album it'd be fine, but as a Megadeth record. It fails. Agreed with World Needs A Hero and Super Collider. United Abominations is ok, but fuck Toute La Monde!!! I quite enjoy Cryptic Writings, has some great tunes on it. Youthsnasia has some great moments. Train Of Consequences is killer. System Has Failed has some bangers on it for sure. Dystopia is a hard listen, not returned back to it much to be honest. 13 was hit or miss for me I think, shite artwork! I loved Endgame, it was pretty ferocious for sure, loved it. Fucking LOVE So Fast So Good, So What. Absolute beast!! Countdown To Extinction is a great one, Skin O' My Teeth still rips. Peace Sells is just fantastic. 16. Risk
Great list
Interesting stuff James, lol I had a wee laugh when you held up Risk first as that one was kind of midway in mine.
I was surprised (and quite pleased) to see Countdown didn’t even make your top 3 as I was expecting that to be your number 1 actually as almost everyone I know rates that as their fav for some reason. If you recall that was bottom of the pile for me. 😆
There are about 4 I don’t own so I obviously I can’t place them but 13 is one of them and you rated that pretty good.
Solid list! I think KIMB is their best album because of how raw, angry, and thrashy it sounds. Great list nonetheless, subscribed
Can't disagree with those choices at all. Thanks for watching
On "Risk" (from what i understand) Dave Mustaine said in an interview that some member of the band was trying to sway the group to go more Popular or Pop. That band member was let go (from what i heard)
Probably Marty Friedman
@@mrboulder9714 That is what i heard. Yes.
@Jo Harrison I think he's played guitar for some Japanese pop stars over the years so it's more than likely him
@@mrboulder9714 Wrong direction for Megadeth, but he sure is good on guitar though!
We have very different taste, but I enjoyed hearing your analysis of the albums regardless. cheers.
Thanks for watching
Great list dude. I think the only different for me is Peace Sells would be my number 2 and Killing as my #3.
Cheers for watching dude, our rankings are pretty much the same then 👍
Rust in Peace is still the best, but I think that Youthanasia is better than "The System has Failed".
Rust is a beast of an album. Thanks for watching and commenting
Youthansia is criminally underrated
Youthanasia is really underrated here, but give TSHF a shot. Apart from the last two songs, that record was a masterpiece. I would rank it even higher, as I think it's the best they had done so far in the 21st century.
My ranking
1. Peace sells ... But Whos Buying?

Great video! 1,320 from endgame is about drag racing. 1320 refers to the number of feet in a quarter mile race track
Cheers for the info, I did not know that 👍
@@mrboulder9714 no problem! Another huge Megadeth fan here!
out of all the rankings, this is the best one imo.
this would be my rankings
Thanks for watching and subbing my channel. Glad you enjoyed the video. Cheers
Excellent list! Now I do not own all Megadeth albums and have not even listen through some of the later ones but one I have is End game and that one is really good, perhaps a top 5 candidate. As for my favorite, peace sells by a hair from Rust.
Cheers Daniel 🍻
Risk I don't know what Mustaine was thinking... And he was supposedly sober when he made that album. I sure hope not!
Crazy that Dystopia is already eight years old. Seems like it came out yesterday!
I think Risk was definitely an attempt to really crossover to the mainstream. Horrible album. Thanks for watching
My top 5...
Countdown to Extinction
Peace Sells...
Cryptic Writings
Rust In Peace
Endgame
I would also rank Hidden Treasures up high since Angry Again and 99 Ways To Die are amazing songs. I'd also add Kill the King in there too.
Hidden Treasures is amazing for a B sides compilation. Your other picks are excellent. Cheers
Tough to rank.
1 So Far So Good So What. Favourite track Mary Jane

Kiko is also fantastic!
Cheers for watching and commenting, Thirteen and Dystopia are great albums definitely
How'd you get the countdown to extinction vinyl?? I cant find it anywhere
@tezar4524 I was.very lucky to get it at a record fair years ago, and the guy was only selling it for £12. He clearly didn't know what he was selling
@@mrboulder9714 god i wish i had that luck, thank you
It hurt me when you said TWNAH so low. That album is actually pretty good. I like a lot of the songs on that release, it does lack the energy of most Megadeth albums. Super Solider has its problems but its got great guitar work. My least favorite album is Cryptic Writings, its just rubbish.
Cryptic Writings sounds like an album made for Rock radio definitely
Disintegrator is great. Everything else is weak.
the struggle for the last place should be between risk and super collider.
Both bad albums. Cheers for watching and commenting
Awesome! Thank you
I would have swapped out The World Needs a Hero and Super Collider
Definitely 2 of the weaker Megadeth releases. Cheers
Great ranking, are the majority of your records the original mixes or the 2004 remixes?
Hi thanks for watching. Fortunately I have the originals, I bought a best of on CD a while back that had the updated mixes and I wasn't a fan of them at all so I'm glad I held on to my originals.
@@mrboulder9714 nice one, I'm the opposite, I grew up with the remixes.
When I discovered the orig mixes it was a revelation for me so I'm trying to get hold of the fav albums orig mixes, thankfully alot of the are now on Spotify.
Rust in Peace and Peace Sells are the pinnacle for me. Those are the only two Megadeth albums I care to hear anymore.
Both absolute classic album's fella 👌
Great video, after watching it inspired me to check out some of the lesser rated albums for the first time in years. Risk, really isn't that bad, as a rock album. Super Collider, really is bad imo 😄 Keep up the goodwork, would like to see a Saxon album show.
I think people would give Risk more praise if it didn't have the Megadeth name on it. Yeah Super Collider isn't great. Thanks for watching and commenting

1. Peace Sells
2. So far So Good So What
3. Rust In Peace

O er the years I checked back on them and found some good songs along the way but as complete albums I got fed up of having to lower my expections all the time.
Yeah the first 4 are untouchable Mike without a doubt
Countdown to Extinction is way way better than The Black Album for me
I love them both equally, thanks for watching

What did you think of the newest Megadeth?
Heard the single last week, really liked it
Just below Maiden in my favourite metal bands. Had to be Rust In Peace at number 1, obviously! And Risk at the bottom, terrible album. Surprised how high up you ranked their debut, one of my least favourites. I need to go back and listen to Thirteen and Endgame again, based on your recommendations. Its been too long since I last heard them!
I love the rawness of Killing Is My Business, Endgame is definitely their best from the last 20 years
System Has Failed has Vinnie Colaiuta of Frank Zappa fame on drums, and Chris Poland on lead guitar. Hardly nobodies.
I've only listened to half their discography, but Risk ain't good lol. I think I listened to Dystopia once as well, so I can't recall any songs aside from the title track. But yes Rust in Peace is indeed their magnum opus, a masterclass in tech thrash.
Rust In Peace is superb and yes Risk is not a great album. Cheers for watching and commenting
Chris Poland came back to play with Dave on the majority of The system has failed.
Yeah i know he played some solo's on that album. Thanks for watching
I really enjoye Super Collider. I wish Mustaine would write from his heart and not what he thunks the fans want to hear. I understand you have to have the fans to buy your music but you have to make honest music also because I feel like he's trying too hard to please everyone else besides himself.
I really enjoyed Super Collider when I first heard it but I didn't like it as much when I went back to it. Cheers for watching and commenting
