6. Endgame 5. Countdown to Extinction 4. Peace Sells... But Who's Buying? 3. Rust in Peace 2. Killing is My Business... And Business is Good! 1. So Far, So Good... So What! Probably my most listened to band.
My ranking for the Megadeth albums would be 16. Risk 15. United Abominations 14. The System Has Failed 13. Super Collider 12. Thirteen 11. Cryptic Writings 10. The World Needs A Hero 9. The Sick The Dying And The Dead 8. Dystopia 7. Endgame 6. Killing Is My Business And Business Is Good 5. Youthanasia 4. So Far So Good So What 3. Peace Sells But Who’s Buying 2. Rust In Peace 1. Countdown To Extinction
Enjoyed the ranking! Megadeth=Ear Candy! Such a strong catalogue🏆 Keep Youthanasia, Cryptic Writings, and Rust in Peace in the truck and listen all the time. Only vinyl i have is Peace Sells and i need to change that soon by picking up their newest Sick Dying Dead 🤘 Really loving the channel! I appreciate the longer format, more to chew on 🤘
I don't think I've ever actually heard Super Collider & Thirteen, one of these days I'll get around to it. I don't mind Risk at all, every band with this longevity has it's blips and something has to be last in a ranking. Very much enjoyed the updated ranking Darcy. Megadeth top of my bucket list to see now, but they'll never play Scotland!
Hi Darcy!! cool list of one of my favorite thrash bands, i have had the chance to see them 3 or 4 times and always a killer show. I'm still missing "The Worl...." and "The system....." loved the last one, also think it's a very good one Endgame "Fatal Ilussion" killer tune. cheers and be well
Fantastic Megadeth ranking Darcy! Interesting the 3 albums I haven't listened to are your bottom 3, that doesn't give me much encouragement to check them out. I think Endgame and Dystopia are the best albums they've done since 1992, haven't listened to the new one still all the way through. Cannot argue with your top 3 they're all perfect albums I think, maybe Rust in peace and Peace sells might be swapped for me. Awesome video man, still love this band 😊🤘🏻
Great ranking sir! Our number one and two are the same. Cryptic Writings and Youthanasia are under appreciated albums. I have been listening to Super Collider a lot lately. It was very low on my list originally, but it has been moving up! Great video as always buddy!🤘
Totally agree on your top 3! Same here. I would rank "The System has..." and "Endgame" over "Countdown" and "Youthanasia" but that´s probably just me, hehe... I have never heard your last 4 on the list tbh. I was never interested in those and I don´t think I´m really missing out, hahaha... I´ve seen Megadeth in October 1990 for the first time as well! Oct. 5th in Munich, it was the "Clash Of The Titans" European tour with Suicidal Tendencies, Testament and Slayer. They played almost all of "Peace Sells..." if I remember right and opened with "Rattlehead". Fantastic show!
4th of October in '90 in Mainz...Clash of the Titans Tour. Dann nochmal im Juli/August '97 in the US auf der Cryptic Writings Tour mit Misfits als Support Band. Peace Sells ist mit Abstand mein Favorit.
Great ranking Darcy. I would have placed Dystopia and United Abominations a bit higher. Rust will always be my favorite Megadeth album ever. Have a great week brother 🙏 🤘!
Wow, you did it again: Great ranking, very thoughtful. I remember getting Countdown on CD for my 18th birthday, the year it was released.. sooo long ago. To me, Countdown always felt a bit like Megadeth "Black Album"...Rust in Piece has always been my Number one, for me simply one of the best thrash albums (or even metal albums) ever made. I really liked the last two albums very much. Although I like "So far..:", I always go for "Peace Sells", "Rust in Peace" or the newer stuff.
Nice to see an updated ranking here Darcy! Def one of those bands that actually do have a few clunkers, and you nailed them here lol. The top will always be the top, order may slightly vary but always the same timeless releases at the top. Great placement of the new one, perfect spot. Dave is a legend. Stay well brother and always stay thrashy.👊🏻
I figured you were gonna update your ranking sooner or later, your #1 is my #1 thanks to the Pepsi Power Hour, with seeing ‘Wake Up Dead” made me a fan for life, cool ranking buddy though I disagree on some placements lol, Cheers
Seeing the video for Wake Up Dead was a huge turning point for me too! Glad we both got to see them on this tour, awesome show! Hope your having a great May long weekend 🍻 Cheers Frankie
I've seen MEGADETH in 1990 also and ALICE IN CHAINS was supposed to open for them but they backed out at the last minute. And I was very disappointed not to get to see them. But MEGADETH was really great! Your #1 and #2 is the same as mine. but after that our rankings would differ Darcy. But overall another great video brother.🤘🍺
Great ranking video Darcy. I'm a weirdo that really likes the 13 album. I agree with you on the system has failed album, really good. Can't argue with that top three. Have a great weekend 🤘
FINALLY! Somebody gave Elysian Fields credits that it deserves. Absolutely great lyrics and dave's vocals, and still decent guitar job. Not the best song, but definetely in my top 10 megadeth songs
Excellent video and excellent ranking! I love that you said “I don’t know how people can rank whole discographies days after new albums” cause I’m the same! It’s like “have you really listened to it enough?”. Just like people who manage to do massive ranking videos but the video is only 8 minutes long? Honestly I could watch rankings all day. The longer the better haha. Anyways! Great video! I recently uploaded my megadeth ranking and had so much fun doing it! I’ve got youthanasia in my top 3! I just love that album so much haha
Great ranking Darcy!! 1. Rust In Peace 2. Youthanasia 3. Peace Sells 4. So Far, So Good, So What 5. Countdown 6. Killing Is My Business . . 16. Risk I am missing almost everything after Risk, but for me it’s the first 6. Have you heard Killing Is My Business “The Final Kill”? I always thought the original sounded very thin, the remix is quite good in my opinion. BTW, Killing was my introduction album to Megadeth, summer of ‘85 🤘cheers🤘
New to your channel like the content. My ranking is very controversial but hey we all have different tastes. I am a 30 year fan and have listened to every album countless times. So here is my list best to worst meaning albums I go to most to least 1. The sick the dying and the dead 2. Countdown to extinction 3. Endgame 4. Rust in peace 5. Peace sells 6. Dystopia 7. System has failed 8. So far so good so what 9. The world needs a hero 10. Super collider 11. Youthanasia 12. United abominations 13. Cryptic writings 14. Thirteen 15.risk 16. Killing is my business
No such thing as controversy here, your ranking is your ranking & that’s ok in my books! Nice to see The Sick, The Dying … And The Dead high up on your list, I know it’s going to move up my list too! Thanks for watching 🤘 Cheers from Canada
Love Megadeth albeit been a while since I've heard all their albums My definitive top #3 though are set in stone. #3 - The Sick, The Dying... and the Dead! Such a comeback, keeping up with the phenomenal return to form they had with Dystopia. Songs like Night Stalkers, We'll Be Back, the title track are all absolute smashers. #2 - Rust In Peace Pretty obvious here, this and Peace Sells are pretty much interchangeable for most people lol. #1 - Peace Sells... But Who's Buying? Thrashterpiece (only the 25th anniversary and original mixes though, same as Rust haha) Interesting note about Cryptic Writings, FFF is Metallica's "Motorbreath" (off Kill 'Em All) reworked similar to Mechanix / Horsemen
I understand you so well,my metal friend! Metal has been with me for nearly 45 years,I can't imagine living without it. It is my passion,my religion,my main source of hope and energy. Happy new 5 years on You Tube! And by the way,Holy Moses have just released their new album and the German Thrash Metal Queen Sabina Classen /the vocalist/ has just announced that this will be the band's last release. To me,this album is a masterpiece, check it out!
I can actually share my own Megadeth ranking now since i finally listened to the bands entire discography a few years ago. 1. Rust in Peace 2. Peace Sells 3. Killing is my Business 4. So Far, So Good, So What 5. Endgame 6. Countdown to Extinction 7. Youthanasia 8. Thirteen 9. United Abominations 10. Cryptic Writings 11. Dystopia 12. System Has Failed 13. The Sick, The Dying, The Dead 14. The World Needs a Hero 15. Super Collider 16. Risk All in all, really good band. Great thrash. Definitely deserving of there legend status. For me Megadeth is a cd only band tho as i only listen to there first 4 albums on a semi regular basis. The others i have to be in a mood for. Anyway great re-rank! Stay heavy! 🤘🏻
As always a great in depth ranking from you. I would probably only swap around a couple like Dystopia with United and on any given day my top 3 would match yours or be mixed around 😝 atm Rust would be number 1 as I just listened to it again yesterday 🤘🤘
Megadeth is one of my favorite metal band. Rust In Peace is my first listen, but my favorite album is Countdown To Extinction (CTE) I enjoyed from beginning to end. For me CTE just like Edge Of Thorns from Savatage. Marty Friedman is my favorite guitarist. He make many memorable solos in Megadeth song. I agree with you, Tornado solos is next level. The Killing Road solos (from Youthanasia) is so cool too. Same like you, Breadline and I'll Be There is my fav song from Risk. Megadeth play I'll Be There in Live That One Night (Buenos Aires).
Excellent list. I got into Megadeth late so I have the 2004 remixes of the first eight albums. Was wondering what you think of those remixes. Many longtime fans are generally not fond of them. lol
I like them. Especially "Killing is My Business". Better artwork for "Risk" as well. But, I prefer the original artwork for "Killing is my Business". Something about it's simplicity that suited the time it was released, and certainly one of the best of the "Big Four" debuts.
I own both the set of 2004 remixes and the original CDs of a batch of these Megadeth albums. Generally I much prefer the original mixes. The only exception is Killing is my Business- but I mean the 2018 Final Kill remix of that, I am not sure they did that one in 2004. That remix is a definite improvement on the original’s sound.
After being a huge fan & absolutely loving with their first 4 albums they completely lost me when they released ‘Countdown’… but tbh that’s not necessarily all their fault… as I was on a much heavier & darker journey at that time… but when they released ‘System’ they definitely gained my interest again & I still really enjoy that album to this day! I’d say the 3 in your top 3 has to be the 3 in most people’s top 3! Always good to see you Darcy!🤘🏻
I feel the same about these covers on the early records and for a while i thought they took away from the power of the album. However I've grown to accept it for what it is, Dave likes these bands and probably inspired by them and paying homage by covering.
Darcy, I appreciate your positivity and mature nature- you just don't bash things you do not like and tend to see the pro's with any of these albums. I would put 'So far so good...' at number one. I believe that album has the most character. Rust in Peace seems to be most peoples favorite but I wish it just wasn't so polished production wise and had a little more grit to the sound. Wow, Megadeth has more albums than I thought! Overkill just hit 20 studio albums but Megadeth isn't too far behind.
Thank you for the kind words ;) You hit the nail on the head when you said So Far has the most character, I love the stripped back (less polished) production. That reminds me, I’ll update my Overkill ranking in a few months from now. Thanks for watching & commenting 🤘 Take care ~ Darcy
I can't remember if I've commented already as this is probably my third or fourth time watching this ranking but I just gotta say that Countdown has absolutely no filler imo. There is not one song on it that I'd toss out or press skip on my cd changer. Been a fan since elementary school probably '86 or '87 and I'd still pick Countdown to Extinction as my #1, it's a perfect album.
Nice ranking. Those 80s albums are in fantastic condition are they ogs? Still sad to see 13 at 13 😂. 5 times love, that dedication. I seen them in in 2005 twice.
I wish my Top 3 were OG’s, maybe someday! Need the right price & right condition or I’m not fussed. I’m happy those 5 times is spread apart over 33 years, it’s a safe bet that I seen a different lineup every time 😂
fark yeah Darcy nice ranking video......my fav is Peace Sells then Rust in Peace......Endgame is my number 3......probably lower on other peoples lists but I never get sick of listening to that one.....awesome production.. then Killing is my Business and Countdown to round out my top 5 at this time......things change as time passes......i really like TSTDATD too.....best production of their discography imo........ I saw Megadeth here in Australia a couple of months ago at Knotfest......it was the only way i was going to see them as they didn't do a headline show in my home state unfortunately.......i was a bit disappointed they didn't play at least 1 more new song besides We'll be Back.......then again it was a festival so time constraint......i first saw them in 2005 and from memory the tix was like $40 and the played for 2 hours straight through compared to Knotfest......$200 and just under an hour......but both shows were fantastic so thats the main thing....... thanks again dude.....stay heavy metal 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Still my favorite band ever!!! Also got to see them a couple weeks ago in Hamilton. Like you, I was surprised that we only got one new song (I was expecting Life In Hell or Night Stalkers) Anyways, my ranking: 1. Peace Sells...But Whose Buying? 2. Rust In Peace 3. Youthanasia (don't judge!!!) 4. So Far, So Good...So What!? 5. Countdown To Extinction 6. Endgame 7. Dystopia 8. Killing Is My Business 9. The Sick, The Dying, And The Dead 10. Cryptic Writings 11. Th1rt3en 12. United Abominations 13. The System Has Failed 14. The World Needs A Hero 15. Super Collider (I know you don’t like it, but I love the second half of Dance In The Rain) 16. Risk Cheers Darcy!!
So far, So good will always be my fav. It's the first album that I bought of theirs and In My Darkest Hour is as good as it gets for me. Close second is Rust
Like you said there are no terrible Megadeth albums. I also like Risk, all of thrm are interesting in a different way. The last one the sick the dying and the death is amazingly great. The last song is mind blowing.
Cool man. I’d maybe have Super Collider at the bottom. Rust In Peace would definitely be at the top for me. I’d have Dystopia higher but yeah great album. Also, cool to see Kreator in the background. Very late but I got into them a month or two ago. Coma Of Souls, Terrible Certainty, and Extreme Aggression are my favorites from them.
Oh man! Megadeth! One of my faves! They had many great albums over the years, and every now and then a few get shuffled. But for me "Peace Sells..." will always be no.1, with "Killing is my Business" at no.2 and "Rust in Peace" at no.3! Sadly though, they'll always be viewed as Metallica's "kid brother". Just picked up the Black Sabbath "Live Evil" 4 CD box set at Sunrise. Made a quick video for it. Worth every penny.
I didn’t relive the cd set for Live Evil is out already, I ordered the vinyl but it’s not out until June 2. Peace Sells was a game changer for many of us old farts 😂
Not viewed as kid brother to me, I didn’t even know mustaine had anything to do with them until years later, just got into them in 80’s as they were excellent!
Megadeth is my favourite band ever heres my list: 16. Super Collider (to me not a megadeth album) 15. 13 (disappointing after the great endgame and UA) 14. Risk (Another album that i don't see as a megadeth album) 13. The World needs a hero (probably my 2nd least favourite lineup) 12. United Abominations (i like this album but the 2nd half is meh 11. Cryptic Writings (love this album) 10. Dystopia (great album and great introduction to Kiko) Lourerio) 9. Youthnasia (love this album but i like others) 8. The Sick, The Dying and the dead (😁) 7. System Has Failed (good comeback album) 6. Endgame (favourite Modern Megadeth album) 5. Killing is my business and business is good (love Angry Dave) 4 Countdown to Extinction (I love this more than the black album btw i love both megadeth and metallica) 3. So far, So good...So what (i love the production) 2. Rust in Peace (nothing be said which has been said 1000 times) 1. Peace Sells but whos buying (this album has a great mix of Jazz and metal also this has a great influence on my guitar playing and has the best Dave Mustaine solos ever)
1. Peace Sells...but Who's Buying? 2. Rust in Peace 3. Countdown to Extinction 4. So Far, So Good...So What! 5. Youthanasia 6. Killing is My Business...and Business is Good! 7. The Sick, the Dying...and the Dead! 8. Endgame
1. Countdown to Extinction (110 %) 2. Rust in peace (105 %) 3. Cryptic writings (100 %) 4. Youthanasia (100 %) 5. Endgame (90 %) 6. Super collider (90 %) 7. Peace sells... (90 %) 8. Dystopia (90 %) 9. 13 (90 %) 10. Risk (90 %) 11. United abominations (80 %) 12. Killing is my business... (80 %) 13. So far so good... (80 %) 14. System has failed (80 %) 15. The world needs a hero (70 %) I saw them live 3 times. The newest album would be about 12th place, but it needs more time to be ranked.
My ranking 1. Countdown To Extinction (1992) 2. Youthanasia (1994) 3. Rust In Peace (1990) 4. Cryptic Writings (1997) 5. Peace Sells (1986) 6. The Sick The Dying And The Dead (2022) 7. Super Collider (2013) 15. Killing Is My Business (1985) 16. Risk (1999)
My first megadeth cassette I purchased with my paper route money at 12 years old was peacesells and about a months or so later so far so good so what came out. I ended up listening to that album to the point I had to buy another cassette. Saying that I all still pick rust in piece as their greatest album as I also think it’s one of the best metal albums ever made and holy wars probably the best metal song ever written imo. I would put peacesells at three then I like agree with your list.
You can’t go wrong with any of those 3, I’ve said it before but timing in your life with these albums means so much! I had a paper route too, ahh life was good back then haha. Thanks for watching 🤘 Cheers from Canada
1. Rust In Peace 2. Peace Sells... But Who’s Buying? 3. Killing Is My Business... and Business Is Good! 4. Countdown to Extinction 5. So Far, So Good... So What! 6. Super Collider 16. Risk
Great to see the new album high up on your list, my favourite album from 2022 with Kreator Hate Über Alles a very close second! Thanks for sharing your ranking 🤘 Cheers from Canada
Hi Darcy ,greetings from Brooklyn NY. Megadeth has always been my favorite thrash band followed by Testament. My problem is I feel more then ever that now that its Dave plus a bunch of hired guns ,not a band .I saw them live a few years ago open for The Scorpions ( Scorpions blew them away ). The band members just members just play there parts separately ,the drummer is in his own world with headphones on . The last time I felt it was a band was with the Drover Brothers or Brodwick .Saw them live gigantour ,excellent ,just my opinion.
You make a good point regarding member changes & feeling like a band. I was very happy when Ellefson rejoined the band in 2010, felt more like a band again. Hopefully this incarnation of Megadeth sticks together until the end. Thanks for watching 🤘 Cheers Michael
Yeah...I have never been a big Megadeth fan, probably because of Dave's vocals ; in my opinion this band needs a good vocalist. I have 7 or 8 Megadeth albums in my collection but even though I am not a big fan,I must admit that "Peace Sells..." is without a doubt, one of the best metal albums ever recorded.
16. Risk 15. Super collider 14.13 13. Destilpia 12. Sick the dying the dead 11. End game 10. United abomination 9. The system has failed 8. World needs a hereo 7. Killing is my business 6. Criptic writtings 5. Youthanasia 4. So far so good so what 3. Countdown to extinction 2. Peace sells 1. Rust in peace
1. Rust In Peace 2. Peace Sells.... But Who's Buying? 3. Countdown to Extinction 4. Endgame 5. The Sick, the Dying... and the Dead! 6. Youthanasia 7. United Abominations 8. Cryptic Writings 9. Killing Is My Business... and Business Is Good! 10. So Far So Good.... So What! 11. The System Has Failed 12. Hidden Treasures 13. The World Needs a Hero 14. Dystopia 15. Thirteen 16. Risk 17. Super Collider
Nice to The Sick, The Dying … And The Dead! higher up on your list! Definitely my favourite album of 2023, with Kreator Hate Über Alles a very close 2nd. Thanks for watching 🤘 Cheers from Canada
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 that new Kreator album is low on my ranking for their albums, but that's just because they have a ton of kick@$$ albums. They're still killing it. That album is still awesome though. It can be tough ranking a discography that is totally awesome and Kreator has a killer discography.
I can't disagree with your top 12 ranking. I sold everything after Endgame because I didn't care for Thirteen or Super Collider, and while I liked the songs on Dystopia I felt Dave's vocals felt very studio touched up. Endgame was the album that reintroduced me to Megadeth. I have been reconsidering re-buying those later albums again. You didn't mention this song, but Whose Life(is it Anyways) was probably the one song that made we want to keep Thirteen. I really liked that song and it was the one standout to me. For my taste So Far, So Good, So What is probably my favorite front to back. I love Peace Sells, it was my first Megadeth album. I remember sitting in a strawberry field, at age 15, picking strawberries, singing Peace Sells over and over in my head, and trying to make enough money picking strawberries to go buy the cassette. Just want to throw out there that I don't think I've ever seen a Sacred Reich, Nuclear Assault, and Suicidal Tendencies ranking from anyone. I feel like the odd duck who would rank ST-The Art of Rebellion as my least favorite ST album lol.
I don't understand at all ,why do so many Megadeth fans rank two albums high in their rankings: Youthanasia and So far..so what. In my opinion, there is not a single interesting song on these albums and they give the impression that the songs on these albums are rejects from the sessions of the albums that preceded them. The songs on these albums are clichéd and make the impression of being a weaker continuation of material that someone created earlier, but had no idea how to finish it. The rest of the favorite albums in the ranking are similar to my types ,Nevertheless, I will also write my picks. 1.Rust in Peace 2.Countdown to Extinction.3..Peace Sells ..but who buying .4.Dystopia.5.United Abominations 28:54 .6.The System has failed.7.The World needs a Hero...8.Endgame.9.Killing is my Business.10.Thirteen I will not classify the remaining albums, as they only contain individual good songs, hence such albums cannot be graded for their entire content because they do not deserve it. By the way, just like you, I think that the best guitarist in the band, next to Dev's There was Marty, but I also appreciate Kiko a lot. Do you know what was the reason he left the band?.Greetings from Poland
The World Needs a Hero is one of my favourite Megadeth´s album, maybe place number 5-6 in my own ranking. MUCH MUCH MUCH better album that garbage like Super Collider or 13teen. But many thanks for new video ♥ Btw, i like new Metallica CD much better than last Megadeth.
I had Countdown fairly low in my ranking and got a bit of stick for it. Still maintain it's one of their weakest albums although it's probably their most accessible. Good video buddy
What about Prince Of Darkness? That's not Dave on the cover of TWNAH. Saw them on that tour 6 days after 9/11 in a little club and they were phenomenal. Super Collider is my bottom. I got in a fight with Dave on Twitter over that album. The lyrics just felt off. Dave didn't appreciate that. He was funny though right before he blocked me like a little girl. I dig Thirteen. My fav is Countdown To Extinction. My ranking video is up there. Probably could use a revamp with The Sick, The Dying & The Dead.
JUST MY OPINION 16. Super Collider 15. 13 14. The System Has Failed 13. United Abominations 12. Dystopia 11. The sick the dying and the dead 10. The World needs a hero 9. Killing is my business 8. Endgame 7. Cryptic Writings 6. Risk 5. Countdown to Extinction 4. Rust in peace 3. Peace sells 2. Youthanasia 1. So far so good so what
1. Rust In Peace (1990) 2. Peace Sells (1986) 3. Countdown to Extinction (1992) 4. Youthanasia (1994) 5. Dystopia (2016) 6. So Far So Good So What (1988) 7. Endgame (2009) 8. Killing Is My Business (1985) 9. The Sick The Dying and The Dead (2022) 10. The System Has Failed (2004) 11. Cryptic Writings (1997) 12. Th1rt3en (2011) 13. The World Needs A Hero (2001) 14. United Abominations (2007) 15. Super Collider (2013) 16. Risk (1999)
Yeah I’d like re issues of countdown and youth but only if it’s the original versions not that remastered crap he put out in 2004. But great ranking pretty much the same as mine would be.
I’m totally with you, we need reissues based on the original mix ONLY! I don’t know what Dave was smoking when he put those remasters together 🤣 Cheers Michael
I don't know what it is but I like Peace Sells and Countdown to Extinction both WAY more than Rust in Peace. Rust in Peace is only maybe a top 6 or 7 Megadeth album for me. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I can't seem to change it.
First off your not doing anything wrong, we all hear albums differently. It’s also very common that people’s entry album to a band is often one of their favourites. So don’t change a thing! Thanks for watching 🤘 Take care ~ Darcy
You’re doing nothing wrong but I would recommend re-listening to just Holy Wars and Hangar 18, the first two tracks off Rust in Peace, and reflecting on whether Megadeth has any other album where the first two tracks hit harder. Compare it to the first two songs on Countdown or even Peace Sells. I’d be surprised if you think any other album still has Rust beat just off comparing the 2 opening tracks of each and going from there- but hey people hear things differently.
@@jimmycampbell78 I've gone back to those tracks and the rest of the album many times but I feel like I do it more out of obligation as Rust In Peace is almost universally regarded as Megadeth's either best or second best work (seems about 55-60% of Megadeth fans would choose it over Peace Sells) but the songs don't stick in my head that much. I'm theorizing that I probably haven't listened to it enough without distraction and maybe that's what that album needs.
@@thediesel387 I'd definitely recommend you listen to it with a different relaxed mindset, because you enjoy Megadeth as a band rather than needing to believe you should enjoy that particular album the most. I like the combination of the aggressive but technical playing, like tbh Peace Sells & SFSGSW has too. But it's interesting because what you say about Rust in Peace, I also feel exactly the same about Countdown to Extinction, many people like that one but I just can't get into the songs as much. Rust in Peace was the first Megadeth album I ever heard. Sometimes I guess these things can make a big difference in how we experience an album.
the three albums after Youthanasia were not really that good, Cryptic Writings, Risk and The World Needs A Hero...the band somehow returned to their roots with The System Has Failed, United Abominations and Endgame...Thirteen and Super Collider were kinda mediocre...haven't heard their two most recent albums...the band was super till Youthanasia...then went on a slump or "slump" if you want...and all these lineup changes over the years somehow have affected the band...good video again Darcy :)
Interesting, on that 13 album, Sudden Death was by far my favourite song on that album. It just ticked all the Megadeth boxes. Everything else in that album felt like kind of recycled material and somewhat cheesy
I like the most recent Kiko albums alot more than you do and I think you have System Has Failed way too high.. 1. Rust in Peace 2. Peace Sells but Whose Buying 3. Countdown To Extinction 4. So Far So Good So What 5. Youthanasia 6. The Sick the Dying and the Dead 7. Dystopia 8. Endgame 9. Cryptic Writings 10. Killing is my Business… 11. The System Has Failed 12. United Abominations 13. The World Needs a Hero 14. Risk 15. Supercollider 16. ThirTeen
The Kiko albums are great, very talented guitar player! I love most of these album, not easy to separate them. When I saw Megadeth on The System Has Failed Tour it was one of best times I’ve ever had at a show, so I think nostalgia has a little to do with my ranking of that album. Nice list & nice to see Youthanasia up there! Thanks for watching 🤘 Cheers from Canada
No need to be sorry, we all have our options. Dave has never been a “singer”, I just look at his vocals as part of the overall sound of Megadeth, if that makes any sense lol. Thanks for watching 🤘 Have a great week :))
6. Endgame
5. Countdown to Extinction
4. Peace Sells... But Who's Buying?
3. Rust in Peace
2. Killing is My Business... And Business is Good!
1. So Far, So Good... So What!
Probably my most listened to band.
Thanks for sharing your Top 6, all awesome albums 🤘 Cheers from Canada
God bless all the rattleheads! Jesus saves sinners! If you like it heavy, MEGADETH weighs a ton!
My ranking for the Megadeth albums would be
16. Risk
15. United Abominations
14. The System Has Failed
13. Super Collider
12. Thirteen
11. Cryptic Writings
10. The World Needs A Hero
9. The Sick The Dying And The Dead
8. Dystopia
7. Endgame
6. Killing Is My Business And Business Is Good
5. Youthanasia
4. So Far So Good So What
3. Peace Sells But Who’s Buying
2. Rust In Peace
1. Countdown To Extinction
Lol. Countdown is tremendously overrated. Youthansia buries it.
Enjoyed the ranking! Megadeth=Ear Candy! Such a strong catalogue🏆 Keep Youthanasia, Cryptic Writings, and Rust in Peace in the truck and listen all the time. Only vinyl i have is Peace Sells and i need to change that soon by picking up their newest Sick Dying Dead 🤘
Really loving the channel!
Good ranking Darcy, just caught them in Calgary last month band sounded great! Their first 5 will always be my go to’s!
Great updated Megadeth ranking! Can't argue with top 3!!
Thanks G 🤘 Have a great week
Great ranking Darcy. I love Megadeth as well. I think my only difference would be Endgame would be ranked higher. Awesome stuff
Thanks Mark 🤘 Have a great week :))
Hi Darcy!! cool list of one of my favorite thrash bands, i have had the chance to see them 3 or 4 times and always a killer show. I'm still missing "The Worl...." and "The system....." loved the last one, also think it's a very good one Endgame "Fatal Ilussion" killer tune. cheers and be well
Nice ranking mate ,they have been my fav since 87 ,cant go past peace sells and so far ,followed by killing then rust and youth 🤘👍🤘
11/17/90 Dallas, TX - Judas Priest/Megadeth/Testament
Great ranking Darcy. I would have placed Dystopia and United Abominations a bit higher. Rust will always be my favorite Megadeth album ever. Have a great week brother 🙏 🤘!
Excellent Megadeth ranking, Darcy!
Thanks Tony 🤘
I figured you were gonna update your ranking sooner or later, your #1 is my #1 thanks to the Pepsi Power Hour, with seeing ‘Wake Up Dead” made me a fan for life, cool ranking buddy though I disagree on some placements lol,
Cheers
Seeing the video for Wake Up Dead was a huge turning point for me too! Glad we both got to see them on this tour, awesome show! Hope your having a great May long weekend 🍻 Cheers Frankie
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 changed the game forever
1991, 1995, 2017, 2021. Megadeth concerts I saw. Rust tour was my favorite.
🤘🎸
I’ve always loved that song! Now you got me in the mood to listen to that album today :) Thank you & thanks for watching 🤘 Cheers from Canada
1. Rust In Peace
2. Youthanasia
3. Peace Sells
4. So Far, So Good, So What
5. Countdown
6. Killing Is My Business
.
.
16. Risk
I am missing almost everything after Risk, but for me it’s the first 6.
Have you heard Killing Is My Business “The Final Kill”?
I always thought the original sounded very thin, the remix is quite good in my opinion. BTW, Killing was my introduction album to Megadeth, summer of ‘85
🤘cheers🤘
Yes I have The Final Kill on vinyl, sounds great except for These Boots, Dave f#%ked it up even worse 🤣 Cheers Ed
New to your channel like the content. My ranking is very controversial but hey we all have different tastes. I am a 30 year fan and have listened to every album countless times. So here is my list best to worst meaning albums I go to most to least
1. The sick the dying and the dead
2. Countdown to extinction
3. Endgame
4. Rust in peace
5. Peace sells
6. Dystopia
7. System has failed
8. So far so good so what
9. The world needs a hero
10. Super collider
11. Youthanasia
12. United abominations
13. Cryptic writings
14. Thirteen
15.risk
16. Killing is my business
No such thing as controversy here, your ranking is your ranking & that’s ok in my books! Nice to see The Sick, The Dying … And The Dead high up on your list, I know it’s going to move up my list too! Thanks for watching 🤘 Cheers from Canada
Love Megadeth albeit been a while since I've heard all their albums
My definitive top #3 though are set in stone.
#3 - The Sick, The Dying... and the Dead!
Such a comeback, keeping up with the phenomenal return to form they had with Dystopia. Songs like Night Stalkers, We'll Be Back, the title track are all absolute smashers.
#2 - Rust In Peace
Pretty obvious here, this and Peace Sells are pretty much interchangeable for most people lol.
#1 - Peace Sells... But Who's Buying?
Thrashterpiece (only the 25th anniversary and original mixes though, same as Rust haha)
Interesting note about Cryptic Writings, FFF is Metallica's "Motorbreath" (off Kill 'Em All) reworked similar to Mechanix / Horsemen
Happy almost 5 years on yt 💌
Thank you very much 🤘 Stay Heavy Duty ~ Darcy
I can actually share my own Megadeth ranking now since i finally listened to the bands entire discography a few years ago.
1. Rust in Peace
2. Peace Sells
3. Killing is my Business
4. So Far, So Good, So What
5. Endgame
6. Countdown to Extinction
7. Youthanasia
8. Thirteen
9. United Abominations
10. Cryptic Writings
11. Dystopia
12. System Has Failed
13. The Sick, The Dying, The Dead
14. The World Needs a Hero
15. Super Collider
16. Risk
All in all, really good band.
Thanks for sharing! God bless you buddy. God bless all the rattleheads! Jesus saves sinners! If you like it heavy, MEGADETH weighs a ton!
DESTRUCTION kicks ass, nice shirt!!
Thanks very much & your right Destruction do kick ass! Thanks for watching 🤘 Take care ~ Darcy
Endgame is probably their best album post-Youthanasia. Dystopia and Sick, Dying are right behind it. 👍💪
Still my favorite band ever!!!
Also got to see them a couple weeks ago in Hamilton. Like you, I was surprised that we only got one new song (I was expecting Life In Hell or Night Stalkers)
Anyways, my ranking:
1. Peace Sells...But Whose Buying?
2. Rust In Peace
3. Youthanasia (don't judge!!!)
4. So Far, So Good...So What!?
5. Countdown To Extinction
6. Endgame
7. Dystopia
8. Killing Is My Business
9. The Sick, The Dying, And The Dead
10. Cryptic Writings
11. Th1rt3en
12. United Abominations
13. The System Has Failed
14. The World Needs A Hero
15. Super Collider (I know you don’t like it, but I love the second half of Dance In The Rain)
16. Risk
Cheers Darcy!!
Megadeth is my favourite band ever heres my list:
16. Super Collider (to me not a megadeth album)
15. 13 (disappointing after the great endgame and UA)
14. Risk (Another album that i don't see as a megadeth album)
13. The World needs a hero (probably my 2nd least favourite lineup)
12. United Abominations (i like this album but the 2nd half is meh
11. Cryptic Writings (love this album)
10. Dystopia (great album and great introduction to Kiko)
Lourerio)
9. Youthnasia (love this album but i like others)
8. The Sick, The Dying and the dead (😁)
7. System Has Failed (good comeback album)
6. Endgame (favourite Modern Megadeth album)
5. Killing is my business and business is good (love Angry Dave)
4
Countdown to Extinction (I love this more than the black album btw i love both megadeth and metallica)
3. So far, So good...So what (i love the production)
2. Rust in Peace (nothing be said which has been said 1000 times)
1. Peace Sells but whos buying (this album has a great mix of Jazz and metal also this has a great influence on my guitar playing and has the best Dave Mustaine solos ever)
God bless you! God bless all the rattleheads! Jesus saves sinners! If you like it heavy, MEGADETH weighs a ton!

1. Countdown To Extinction (1992)
2. Youthanasia (1994)
3. Rust In Peace (1990)

16. Risk

1.Rust in Peace 2.Countdown to Extinction.3..Peace Sells ..but who buying .4.Dystopia.5.United Abominations 28:54 .6.The System has failed.7.The World needs a Hero...8.Endgame.9.Killing is my Business.10.Thirteen
I will not classify the remaining albums, as they only contain individual good songs, hence such albums cannot be graded for their entire content because they do not deserve it. By the way, just like you, I think that the best guitarist in the band, next to Dev's There was Marty, but I also appreciate Kiko a lot. Do you know what was the reason he left the band?.Greetings from Poland
Personally I find the first album (original mix) and the two 'Peace' albums are the best. Dystopia was good too but the rest hit or miss mainly miss.
The World Needs a Hero is one of my favourite Megadeth´s album, maybe place number 5-6 in my own ranking.
MUCH MUCH MUCH better album that garbage like Super Collider or 13teen.
But many thanks for new video ♥
Btw, i like new Metallica CD much better than last Megadeth.
I had Countdown fairly low in my ranking and got a bit of stick for it. Still maintain it's one of their weakest albums although it's probably their most accessible. Good video buddy
I hope you told them where to stick the stick lol, it’s your ranking! Thank you & thank for watching 🤘 Cheers from Planet6Strings
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 haha, I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion. Thanks man, you're welcome

(I mean Wake up Dead and The Conjuring would come pretty close but thats why those two albums would be my 1 and 2 😊)
@@jimmycampbell78 I've gone back to those tracks and the rest of the album many times but I feel like I do it more out of obligation as Rust In Peace is almost universally regarded as Megadeth's either best or second best work (seems about 55-60% of Megadeth fans would choose it over Peace Sells) but the songs don't stick in my head that much.

I know worst to best. Horrible to good. So boring ! Just forward to 20:00.
Whatever works for you 👍
If they only had a decent singer.
ALL Splendid Records...Some Better Than Others...But MUCH Better Than ANY Of Rubbish Bin Nonsense metallica Spewed Our From 1991 To 2023...
Hahahahahaha. False.
I'm sorry Dave can't sing!
No need to be sorry, we all have our options. Dave has never been a “singer”, I just look at his vocals as part of the overall sound of Megadeth, if that makes any sense lol. Thanks for watching 🤘 Have a great week :))
Except he can
