Hi Darcy. Totally agree with your list. I love the song naked in the rain (underrated and missing in the compilations). Forever Dio. Stay healthy and safe.
Here's my list Darcy #1 - Holy Diver. #2 - The Last in Line. #3 - Sacred Heart. #4 - Dream Evil. #5 - Killing The Dragon. #6 - Magica. #7 - Master of The Moon. Keep safe out there Metal brother.🙂\m/
Hey Steve 👋 hope your doing good brother ! I’m the same way with the first 4 , lots of great memories from the 80’s . The Rainbow & Black Sabbath RJD era are awesome ! Take care my friend 🤘 Stay Safe

10 - Master of the Moon 9 - Killing the Dragon 8 - Lock Up the Wolves 7 - Magica 6-5 - Angry Machines / Strange Highways 4 - Sacred Heart 3 - Last In Line 2 - Holy Diver 1 - Dream Evil (first album I ever listened)
Angry Machines (Along with Holy Diver) is probably my all time favourite Dio album. It’s so heavy, I love every track and my favourite song off the album is This is your life!
I'm 49 so I remember buying the cassettes the net CDs and I love Dio. I'm from South Florida West Palm Beach and got to see him at the West Palm Beach Auditorium I think on the dream evil tour it was awesome.
Hey Robert 👋 Very cool you got to see Dio live , I got see Ronnie perform with Heaven & Hell in ‘07 , fantastic show ! Would of been nice to hear some Dio songs , but honestly I’m just grateful to of see such a legend live ! Thanks for watching 🤘 Cheers from Saskatchewan Canada
Holy Diver for mine , like you i'm an old stooge too..... purchased it back in '83 at my local record store and it blew me away.Cheers Darcy, you are the man on the silver mountain.
Great memories from the 80’s , couldn’t wait for those new release days ! My internet back then was Metal Edge , Circus & Hit Parader . I’m the man with the silver hair lol . Cheers 🤘 Stay Safe
Got to meet Ronnie twice. Craig is from my hometown and I've hung out with him on occasion. He invited me and my wife a few years back to a show he did here with Joe Lynn Turner.
All the Fools Sailed Away.... the beginning is simply epic!!! It's been my mantra for years "There's perfect harmony In the rising and the falling of the sea And as we sail along I never fail to be astounded by the things we'll do for promises And a song"
Much Music was much different back then, wasn't it? 😉 I started listening to Dio about eleven years ago, and my favourite has always been Holy Diver. He was a special man filled with creativity and wisdom. I'm glad you're well! 🤘🤘🤘
🤣 ya ya I got a few years on you ! Dio was a small man in stature , but he could command a stage like nobody’s business ! I hope your doing great my friend 🤘 Stay Safe
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 You do? I thought you, Mickey, and myself are still nineteen and jumping on the trampoline? Lol!!! You, too, mate! You deserve the best! Indeed, Dio was a mighty wizard that once lived.🤘🤘🤘 P. S. I reported the spamming man below. I even found him on one of the astrology channels that I watch. Maybe he has a fetish for stalking metalheads online. LOL! 😉
I've been binging Dio ever since those reissues came out a few weeks ago. Magica is the only one that hasn't clicked for me, but like you said, not a bad album by any means...just a grower I guess. Also, appreciate the mention of Bring Down The Rain. Easily my favourite Dio tune, but no one ever seems to mention it. Cheers to a fellow Canuck.
Besides the new Testament album , I’ve been in Dio mode for last 2 weeks & lovin’ it ! Bring Down The Rain is such a great song , I’m glad you like it too ! Cheers my friend 🤘 Stay Safe
My ranking for the Dio albums would be🤘 10. Magica 9. Angry Machines 8. Master Of The Moon 7. Lock Up The Wolves 6. Killing The Dragon 5. Strange Highways 4. Sacred Heart 3. The Last In Line 2. Holy Diver 1. Dream Evil
Great list! Matches my own very closely. I've been a fan since Holy Diver came out as well. Glad you mentioned Time to Burn, that's one of my favorites.
Any serious Dio fan would also acknowledge his flawless albums with Black Sabbath. I first heard Dio in High School when "Mob Rules" first came out. Heaven and Hell, Mob Rules, Live Evil and Dehumanizer need desperately to be released on vinyl. I did manage to get Dehumanizer on vinyl last year as a Record Store Day purchase. I have Holy Diver on red vinyl, Last in Line on blue, Sacred Heart on gold and Dream Evil on blue. Love ya Ronnie! R.I.P.
My next update I’ll be showing a few more Dio on vinyl , I’m on a mission to get all 10 studio albums on vinyl , just a matter of time lol . What a legend 🤘R.I.P. RJD
Awesome ranking! All the love for Dio! 🤘🤘🤘 Always enjoy your rankings. Craig is so underrated. When I did my ranking it was great to go back and rediscover these albums. I did all the RJD in my ranking from Elf to Heaven & Hell. 🤘🤘🤘
I knew those cassettes would come in handy one day lol , I wish I would of kept them all ! Holy Diver is a definitive heavy metal album , it will still be talked about for years to come ! Cheers Jimmy 🤘 Stay Safe
Super entertaining video. You make me wanna listen to some of those albums again and i will start with KILLING THE DRAGON, SACRED HEART and CRAIG GOLDY'S RITUAL lp HIDDEN IN PLAIN SIGHT thats a very good one from 1991.
Thanks René ! It’s always time to listen to some Dio 🤘 I’ve never heard that Craig Goldy album , thanks I will check it out , he a great guitar player for sure ! Cheers my friend 🤘 Stay Safe
Surprisingly nobody else on here has seemed to rank them in their entirety yet so here’s mine for what it’s worth... 1. Holy Diver (Easy choice) 2. The Last In Line 3. Sacred Heart 4. Dream Evil 5. Killing The Dragon (Underrated) 6. Lock Up The Wolves 7. Master Of The Moon 8. Angry Machines 9. Strange Highways 10. Magica ( Too long Too plodding and 10 years too late)
Awesome ! Thanks for sharing your ranking ! I totally agree on Killing The Dragon , I think Doug Aldrich’s guitar playing was a breath of fresh air , underrated for sure ! Hope your doing good 🤘 Stay Safe
Even though my order is on the way from Nuclear Blast I just couldn’t wait , so I bought it digitally & don’t tell my wife that I took her $10 iTunes gift card 🤫 lol . It’s such a great album , I just love it ! Cheers Frank 🤘 Be Safe
Another Awesome Video, Darcy! Holy Diver was one of the first 5 cd's I ever bought. Still one of my Faves! I still need Angry Machines and Magica, have the rest. Stay safe, stay heavy.
Thanks very much Jeff ! Holy Diver & Number Of The Beast were the first two I bought on CD , I thought I was in the big leagues moving from cassettes to CDs lol . There’s some great songs on Magica & Angry Machines , hope you get a chance to pick those up . Stay Safe my friend 🤘
I was very much looking forward to another one of your ranking videos. Was pumped when I saw it was Dio. I find every time I listen to Dio, the albums seems to switch spots. Just so tight for me, but I do have the top 3 that don't move. We have the same favourite tracks off of Magica. Great work Darcy, fun to watch. Hope all is well sir
Hey Andrew 👋 I’m doing good , hope you are too ! I like doing ranking videos , there really is no wrong answers & it’s cool to get people perspective on these great albums ! Cheers 🤘 Stay Safe
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 I'm doing alright, just doing my best to stay busy while off work. I look forward to seeing your Saxon video. I'm not very familiar with them, so it will be nice to learn more about the band. You stay safe too

Hi Darcy...Dio..what a voice!!. First album purchased was Dream Evil and still my favourite followed by the first two in order..Ronnie's sorely missed..Stay heavy from Dan a man of kent but not a kentish man.🤘🤘🤘
Top ranking they are all very solid albums, so what can we say here. Rainbow with DIO great Black Sabbath with DIO just great. We all miss Ronnie James DIO but we can stil listen to his music and works that he left us to hear.
Good video, love Dio ( big fan Rainbow and Black Sabbath ( with Dio for me best albums) my rankings: 1 The last in Line 2 Holy Diver 3 Dream Evil 4 Master of the moon 5 sacred heart 6 Lock up the wolves 7 Killing the Dragon 8 Magica 9 Angry machines 10 strange highway
Great video. I`d probably have to edge Last In Line above Holy Diver but it`s close. Two of the best metal albums of all time. Great band. Looking forward to that Saxon ranking. You`re a brave man taking that one on.
Thank you very much ! It seems any ranking video I’ve done the top two are always so close , could be interchangeable at any given time , nice problem to have with albums that great ! Lol I don’t know about brave ie the Saxon ranking ... stay tuned ! Cheers 🤘 Stay Safe
Nice video Darcy, Great Ranking, H.D. is a metal masterpiece! Always been a big fan of D.E. & K.T.D. myself , Rjd is a true metal icon, one of the greats! Take Care & Stay Heavy Brother 🤘🤘
Thanks very much David ! Holy Diver definitely has it’s place in the heavy metal history books , the same goes for the the master himself RJD ! Take care my friend 🤘 Stay Safe
Hi Darcy...fantastic ! I'm close to you with my ranking. I like Magica just slightly more than Killing The Dragon but they are all fantastic ! I was able to get the vinyl reissues of Magica and Killing The Dragon. Those cd reissues look amazing. ! Thanks Darcy. Stay safe my friend . Chez
Thanks Chez ! From what I’ve seen of the vinyl reissues they look awesome , the CD’s are great , I’ll go a little more in depth in my next update , it’s seems BMG does a great job with all their reissues . Cheers my friend 🤘 Stay Safe
As a huge Dio fan, here is my personal ranking: 1. Holy Diver 2. Last in Line 3. Dream Evil 4. Magica 5. Killing the Dragon 6. Sacred Heart 7. Strange Highways 8. Lock Up the Wolves 9. Master of the Moon 10. Angry Machines
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 You as well, greetings from America. We're getting hit pretty hard right now but it seems to have finally reached its peak. IMO, Ronnie was the greatest metal vocalist of all time with Bruce Dickenson coming in at a close 2nd.
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 I actually switched 8 and 9 on my ranking. When I really think about it, I can listen to Lock Up the Wolves all the way through; I always skip a few tracks on Master of the Moon.
Hi Darcy ! Thank you for another brilliant ranking. I can`t help noticing the mint condition of your original cassettes. You must have been really careful with what mate you borrowed it to :) In my gang here in Norway, the cassettes were passed around - and came back to me like they had been used as sledges. I was a bit proud, because they had at least been played( I presume). The backside I often ended up buying the cassette again, and with a weekly payment of USD 2 it was a bit tough (1988). Always a pleasure with a bit of reminicence :)
Nice to hear from you 😊 hope your doing good ! I learnt the hard way with lending out stuff , nothing ever comes back the way it left lol . I’m going to pickup a new cassette deck soon , my poor old SONY died with its boots on :)) Thanks for the kind words my friend 🤘 Stay Safe
Not only is this an awesome ranking, but it is also a great lesson in Dio history. I got into this great band in the 90's and never looked back. Holy Diver is in my top ten favourite metal albums ever. Luckily i own all of their studio albums. I will be giving them a fresh spin. Can't wait for your Saxon ranking video. As you say, this one will be tough. Hope you and your family are staying safe my friend. Take care 🤘.
Thanks my friend ! I’m almost ready for the Saxon ranking video , top & bottom is in place , it’s that damn middle that always gets me second guessing myself lol . RJD is a huge part of Heavy Metal history & will be talked about for years to come ! Everything is going as good as possible , hope it is for you too ! Cheers 🤘 Stay Safe
Great ranking video Darcy. You inspired me to pull my old Dio records of the shelf to give a spin. Can’t argue with your overall ranking. Funny, this morning I found your Dio ranking video first in my you tube feed followed immediately by another Dio Ranking video from the Sea of Tranquility channel. Take care Darcy.
I recorded my video Tuesday , then woke up Wednesday to see Pete posted his ranking , I was like what are the odds lol , oh well I’ll upload anyway ! I get inspired all the time from watching videos , that makes me happy your cranking some Dio ! Cheers my friend 🤘 Stay Safe

Not sure what my top 10 would be but this is my top 5! 1. Holy Diver 2.The last in line 3. Lock up the wolves 4.Dream Evil 5. Killing The Dragon Ik alot of people will disagree on my number 3 spot but whatever! 😁🤘 ( Btw love the content brother, I have been binging it all day. Keep up the great work!)
Thanks for the kind words 🤘 much appreciated ! I don’t mind your #3 , honestly wish Rowan would of did a second album with Dio ! Thanks again for taking the time to watch & comment , plz stop by anytime ! Take care ~ Darcy
Hei, Darcy! I've known RJ Dio's existence since 1984 when I got "LIVE EVIL" and I'm lucky to say that I saw RJ Dio 4 times here in my hometown. The last time was with Heaven And Hell in the summer of 2009. Your top 4 Dio albums are also in my top 4. I have to say that DREAM EVIL is his best album from start to finish but the first 3 albums have greater than great individual tracks though all of them are dam good albums too. Ronnie's voice got never bad which is unusual. What a legacy he left behind, 🤘😎 Jarkko/MyVinylBar
That’s so cool that you got to see him 4 times , I feel lucky to have seen him once with Heaven & Hell with Megadeth opening . I think because I discovered Dio early those first 4 albums will always mean a lot to me . Cheers Jarkko 🤘 Stay Safe
Those reissues look amazing! I don't really buy CDs anymore, and strictly purchase vinyl....but holy shit...I might need to make an exception for these new CDs! I'm an absolute Dio fanboy, so ranking them isn't easy, but here we go... 1. Holy Diver 2. The Last In Line 3. Dream Evil 4. Lock Up The Wolves 5. Sacred Heart 6. Strange Highways 7. Killing The Dragon 8. Angry Machines 9. Master Of The Moon 10. Magica I lost touch with metal from around 1990 until 2001 or so, and going back and discovering those 90's Dio albums was like finding long lost treasures.
I’m kinda of kicking myself , I had the 4 Dio reissues on vinyl in my Amazon cart , three were at $28.50 cdn each & one at $33.50 & didn’t pull the trigger , oh well the CDs are great ! Ranking these great albums was harder than I thought , but still so much fun going through ever album again ! Thanks for sharing your ranking Mike 🤘 Stay Safe
Hey Darcy!!! Wow what a great choice for a ranking video. The legendary Dio! Miss him a lot. R.I.P. His body of work through out his career is absolutely stellar. If anyone deserves to be in the Rock Hall of Fame it’s definitely RJD!!! I 100% agree this man new how to write great lyrics, music and always had fantastic talent around him! So here’s my Dio rankings! 10. Angry Machines 9. Master of the Moon 8. Killing the Dragon 7. Lock Up the Wolves 6. Magica 5. Sacred Heart ( Yes I do love Hungry for Heaven!!! Lol Actually have the Vision Quest soundtrack on cassette!) 4. Dream Evil 3. Strange Highways ( I love this album!!!! Heavy and raw! You have know idea how close this album for me could easily one day make my top 2!!) 2. Last in Line 1. Holy Diver
Great ranking David ! I have another friend who comments on my videos who loves Strange Highways just as much as you & said if Holy Diver & The Last In Line weren’t so awesome Strange Highways could easily be his #1 . No wrong answers right , we all just love Dio lol . Cheers my friend 🤘 Stay Safe
Nice ranking buddy, my favorite is Last In Line, never really payed much attention to.him after 1990, favorite tracks are Mystery and last in line, cheers my friend Stay safe
Yeah,my Dio ranking would pretty much the same but...I would put ANGRY MACHINES a lot higher-this album is really heavy! Dio was always wandering somewhere between hard rock and heavy metal but on ANGRY MACHINES he was really into metal!
I didn’t get to buy much music in the mid 90’s , kids came along & the priorities changed fast lol , so I think that part of the reason Angry Machine doesn’t resonate with me as much , again not a bad album ! Cheers 🤘 R.I.P. RJD
Love Dio! I remember the video for Holy Diver getting a substantial amount of airplay on MTV. Definitely my favorite album from the band. Thinking back, I specifically remember being at the mall and buying Intermission by Dio and Epicus Doomicus Metallicus by Candlemass, the same day (they came out around the same time, I believe.) I kind of fell off with Dio though, before Strange Highways was released. I was completely engulfed in listening to a lot of Death Metal at the time. It was interesting to hear your take on Dio's discography. Great video as always! Stay safe Darcy :)
Isn’t it funny how we remember when we bought certain albums & how they impacted us ! I fell off with a few bands in the mid 90’s , nice to catch up now :) Thanks my friend 🤘 Stay Safe
Cool ranking, very tough one. I only have the first 5 but will look to get those reissues and that EP. it would be cool to do a career ranking as well with the other bands he's been in. 🤘🤘🤘
The reissues are awesome , I’m just going through the bonus material at the moment ! I’m not sure where I’d rank Rainbow Rising or Black Sabbath Heaven and Hell , I just know it would be pretty damn high lol . Cheers GRock 🤘 Stay Safe
1. Holy Diver 2. The Last In Line 3. Strange Highways 4. Killing The Dragon 5. Lock Up The Wolves 6. Magica 7. Dream Evil 8. Master of The Moon 9. Sacred Heart 10. Angry Machines
Tough to beat those top two hey , classics !! Killing The Dragon is a great album , to me it really feels like early Dio , Doug Aldrich is a killer guitar player ! Cheers 🤘 Stay Heavy
Hi Darcy Nice Maiden vinyl in the back 🤘 I see you’ve bagged some of the newer remastered releases - need to get some more of these as they look class and missing two of these Ronnie James Dio was a great lyricist for sure ✅ Heh, I stayed on Queen Street on my last trip to Canada when we got to Toronto (ah, the travel days) Remember Vision Quest ... not fondly though 🤔 Don’t think I’d change your ranking at all (as you say, splitting hairs, ... top 3 spot on Saw the great Ronnie in Black Sabbath, and in Dio a few times - amazing voice, great guy and certainly on of my all time favourites RIP RJD Take care 🤘
Hey Paul 👋 I do love a good reissue lol . Yes I miss travelling , my youngest son & I usually fly to Toronto once a year to watch the Toronto Blue Jays , I can’t see that happening this year ! That’s awesome you got to see RJD a few times , what a legend ! Cheers my friend 🤘 Stay Safe

Great Top 4! I was listening to Master Of The Moon just the other day, some great songs on that album. Thanks for putting your ranking in the comments, always nice to see how other people rank them 🤘 Take care ~ Darcy
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 I really think the first 4 Dio alums are untouchable, but for the people who have never taken the deep dive, they really need to listen to it all and see how many great albums Dio really made. Not a bad one in the bunch, so like you said, it is all about preference because the album quality is definitely not an issue lol.
Fantastic job Darcy. I've still not heard all of the Dio studio albums, only familiar with the ones up to Wolves. Such an icon of heavy metal, I kinda regret being so late to the party, but I got there in the end. I can't believe I saw them live in '87 and didn't appreciate the fact I was in the presence of such a legend, oh well better late than ever! Will you take on Saxon in a single video or split that into a couple of parts? Holy Diver is easily my #1 and even though I havent heard the later Dio albums I can't imagine it getting beat. Great job, great info, great channel!
Thanks very much Andy ! We all have those bands we were late to the party with , it’s a heck of a lot of fun getting into them now ! I think I will do the Saxon ranking in two parts , two 20 min videos sounds better than one 40 min video lol . Cheers 🍷 Stay Safe
Great video as always Darcy & sorry I’m late to watching it!! I did a Death ranking video a while ago & I really enjoyed making it!! I do enjoy this type of video a lot!! My problem is, I don’t have a lot of bands complete discographies & I’m like you, I wanna be able to show it, if I’m gonna make one!! I’m pretty late to Dio! I had Holy Diver, back in the day, but that was it!! I’ve since revisited & really enjoy every album I have now!! Stay safe my friend!!🤘🏻
Lol watch when you can mate ! I enjoyed your Death ranking video , you should do another band like Xentrix or Forbidden , always nice to hear your thoughts on two of your favourites ! Take care Marc 🤘 Be Safe
Fantastic ranking video!!! To see all these great Dio records and to think this isn’t even his best stuff (a few exceptions of course) !!! A lot of those later albums I’ve never heard but as far as what I know, your ranking was spot on!! You conquered a pretty hard task, I couldn’t imagine ranking Saxon and Motörhead. Both those bands’ best works came years after the classic records that we know inside out. Good luck with that. Look forward to those vids!! Great job here! Stay safe and cheers, Jon
Thank you very much ! Like you said there’s more , you throw in the Black Sabbath & Rainbow masterpieces wow , all legendary albums ! I’m close on the Saxon ranking , I’ll try & get my arse moving a little quicker lol . Take care Jon 🤘 Stay Safe
Dio is my favorite metal vocalist! I still am yet to hear his whole discography...but have heard many! "Dream Evil" is my favorite all time Dio album! This ranking will probably effect the order I check out the releases I don't know. All the best!
Hey Darcy, nice ranking. I completely agree with your top 4. One question though, were you running late for something when making this video, cause it seemed like you buzzed through The Last In Line & Holy Diver really fast? (about 30 seconds each)
Hey Tim 👋 Good point about not covering the last two albums thoroughly , I don’t always watch my videos back , I’m actually never in a rush that’s the funny thing , I’ll slow it down next time :)) Cheers from Saskatchewan Canada 🤘 Stay Safe
@Darcy Here are all ten Dio albums ranked by the darcy community. Only people that ranked all ten albums were eligible to be included. Some interesting results, Magica was the only album to land both at the #1 & #10 spot. Seems that one is either loved or hated. Sacred Heart being #4 surprised me. I dont hear that at all(nostalgia votes?). I put 4 albums in bold to highlight how little separated them. Anyway this didnt take long & i thought it was interesting. If anyone wants to add their rank of all 10 in a reply below it could easily be added to update the community rank. Here are the results: #1 Holy Diver (126) #2 Last In Line (117) #3 Dream Evil (96) #4 Sacred Heart (78) *#5 Killing The Dragon (63)* *#6 Lock Up The Wolves (61)* *#7 Magica (56)* *#8 Strange Highways (54)* #9 Master Of The Moon (40) #10 Angry Machines (24) Darcys rank + the rank of Integrity101 + these others.... @@darcysixstringsninelives3493 No need to thank me though really, i was just curious how the community rank would play out & how close those middle albums in bold would be. You are welcome though. #1 ranked album gets 10 points #2 ranked gets 9 points #3 gets 8 points... & so on. Doing it this way those 4 albums in bold are sooooo close they are virtually tied for 5th place. I thought that was interesting. Martin popoff has a top 500 metal albums book. Holy Diver, Last In Line, Dream Evil & *Strange Highways* were the 4 that made the book, so I was surprised it landed at the 8th spot. Anyway, keep doing what u do. Have a good one 🤘
As a huge AC/DC fan, I couldn't fit in my head why Simon Wright left the biggest rock band in the world and got involved with Dio, being quite a young guy and having the world at his feet with such a giant of the world music scene. AC/DC was recording then the powerful "The Razors Edge", and Simon decided to stay in a band with incomparably lower reputation than Angus and the company. I was also very young then😎 Nice video, mate👍 Cheers!
Dio definitely surrounded himself with some great players , Simon can say he’s been in two great bands ! I’m really looking forward to a new album from AC/DC , hope it comes out this year . Cheers brother 🤘 Stay Safe
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 I've been looking for a few Vinyl covers to frame because album art is kind of underrated. I settled on Judas priest Firepower, Megadeth Peace sells and now I might go for Killing the dragon. But asides from that, I'm staying safe with my CD collection
I have 6 Dio albums. I lost interest by Dream Evil and didn't really get back before Heaven And Hell (band). To me the first three are the best, The Last In Line, Sacred Heart, Holy Diver. I saw Dio once and twice with Heaven And Hell. I was also going to go see Dio when he got sick and his tour was cancelled. I was really waiting for that gig because Doug Aldrich was going to be the guitarist and i had already seen him with Whitesnake. Funny you mentioned it. Your video was the second Dio ranking video released yesterday. Pasi
That’s awesome that you got to see Dio & Heaven and Hell , I only saw him with Heaven and Hell in 2007 , I wish I would of got to see Dio in the 80’s . Check out Killing The Dragon if you haven’t already , Doug Aldrich does a great job on that album . Take care Pasi 🤘 Stay Safe
It's worth mentioning that a Dio set worth picking up is "A decade of Dio" it contains all albums from "Holy Diver" to "Strange Highways". The vinyl set contains a bonus single of the original version of "Evil Eyes", and the CD set contains mini inner sleeve replicas in each disc of the vinyl sleeves. A good find for serious Dio fans.
Hey Darcy! Was looking forward to this ranking. You threw a few surprises in there for sure. But I love how our rankings are very different , but at the end of the day, it’s Dio and it’s all amazing. “ silver linings can disappear, but they always shine”... “and only fools go back, cause Hollywood’s black”.. just a few more amazing lines by the one and only. Hi Darcy!!! cool video / ranking, i agree with you 100% RJD was one of the greatest in metal, only got the chance to see him with H&H not with his solo band........ Btw cool reissues, those are the new ones, right? I think the first 4 album are great without a doubt! but i must confess i'm not very familiar with his latest solo work, specially with Traci G, well got some homework to do, cheers and take care!!!

Excellent ranking. I have the cover to Holy Diver tattooed on my leg. Miss RJD every day.
Oh man that’s awesome!! What a voice 🤘 R.I.P. RJD
Got to meet Ronnie twice. Craig is from my hometown and I've hung out with him on occasion. He invited me and my wife a few years back to a show he did here with Joe Lynn Turner.
I saw them at Hammersmith Odeon in 83. A great show, and as I was in the front row I got to shake Ronnie's hand.
That’s just incredible , something you’ll never forget ! Thanks for watching 🤘 R.I.P. RJD 🤘
All the Fools Sailed Away.... the beginning is simply epic!!! It's been my mantra for years
"There's perfect harmony
In the rising and the falling of the sea
And as we sail along
I never fail to be astounded by the things we'll do for promises
And a song"
CRUSADER in the background! Nice!
I’m was brushing up for the Saxon ranking , still am lol , BIG discography to get through ! Take care ~ Darcy 🤘
Much Music was much different back then, wasn't it? 😉
I started listening to Dio about eleven years ago, and my favourite has always been Holy Diver.
Indeed, Dio was a mighty wizard that once lived.🤘🤘🤘
P. S.
I reported the spamming man below. I even found him on one of the astrology channels that I watch. Maybe he has a fetish for stalking metalheads online. LOL! 😉
Dio, the man that got me into hard rock or metal, via rainbow though, my favorite Vocalist of all time! What a great loss, rest in peace! Stay safe!
I can’t think of a better guy to get you into heavy metal & hard rock than RJD , he is sadly missed ! Cheers 🤘 Stay Safe
My ranking for the Dio albums would be🤘
10. Magica
9. Angry Machines
8. Master Of The Moon
7. Lock Up The Wolves
6. Killing The Dragon
5. Strange Highways
4. Sacred Heart
3. The Last In Line
2. Holy Diver
1. Dream Evil
RJD
I am partial to the tours of 1984 and 1985 I saw in Spokane. Last in Line and Sacred Heart. Those two albums are my favorites from Dio.
Awesome ranking! All the love for Dio! 🤘🤘🤘 Always enjoy your rankings. Craig is so underrated. When I did my ranking it was great to go back and rediscover these albums. I did all the RJD in my ranking from Elf to Heaven & Hell. 🤘🤘🤘

3. Sacred heart
4. Dream evil
5. Killing the dragon
Excellent top 5 , thanks for sharing ! Let the metal flow 🤘 Stay Safe
Awesome Dio ranking!!! Well done!!!! Totally inspiring....I love Dio and miss him very much
Awesome that you still have the original cassettes. Holy Diver is great from top to bottom with no filler. What an album!
I knew those cassettes would come in handy one day lol , I wish I would of kept them all ! Holy Diver is a definitive heavy metal album , it will still be talked about for years to come ! Cheers Jimmy 🤘 Stay Safe
Holy Diver is a masterpiece. Stand Up And Shout was the first Dio song I heard. Rock on 🤘🏻
I couldn’t agree more , such a legendary album ! Thanks for stopping by 🤘 much appreciated ! Cheers from Canada 🍻

1. Holy Diver (Easy choice)

4. Dream Evil
5. Killing The Dragon (Underrated)
6. Lock Up The Wolves
7. Master Of The Moon

Awesome Dio ranking, Darcy! Holy Diver, Magica, Killing the Dragon and Master of the Moon are the ones I'm most familiar with.
Thanks Tony ! You still have a few more great Dio albums yet to hear then , try The Last In Line if you haven’t heard it ! Stay Safe 🤘

Rock 'n' Roll Children..Hell Yeah!!! And Vivian Campbell golden era ..... Excellent album

What a legacy he left behind,
🤘😎

That’s so cool that you got to see him 4 times , I feel lucky to have seen him once with Heaven & Hell with Megadeth opening . I think because I discovered Dio early those first 4 albums will always mean a lot to me . Cheers Jarkko 🤘 Stay Safe
Those reissues look amazing! I don't really buy CDs anymore, and strictly purchase vinyl....but holy shit...I might need to make an exception for these new CDs!
I'm an absolute Dio fanboy, so ranking them isn't easy, but here we go...
1. Holy Diver
2. The Last In Line
3. Dream Evil
4. Lock Up The Wolves
5. Sacred Heart
6. Strange Highways
7. Killing The Dragon
8. Angry Machines
9. Master Of The Moon
10. Magica
I lost touch with metal from around 1990 until 2001 or so, and going back and discovering those 90's Dio albums was like finding long lost treasures.

Thinking back, I specifically remember being at the mall and buying Intermission by Dio and Epicus Doomicus Metallicus by Candlemass, the same day (they came out around the same time, I believe.)
I kind of fell off with Dio though, before Strange Highways was released.

Nice Maiden vinyl in the back 🤘
I see you’ve bagged some of the newer remastered releases - need to get some more of these as they look class and missing two of these
Ronnie James Dio was a great lyricist for sure ✅

Remember Vision Quest ... not fondly though 🤔
Don’t think I’d change your ranking at all (as you say, splitting hairs, ... top 3 spot on

My ranking is very similar but last in line is my #1 holy diver # 2
My favorite album from Dio is Dream Evil and Intermission.... 🤘
Two great choices Pedro , I still need to pickup Intermission on CD . Cheers 🤘 Stay Safe
Darcy Six Strings Nine Lives I have Intermission cd but I hope they reissue on vinyl in the future... Hope you and your family are ok and safe 🤘
Top notch!
Great job. Your first two and mine are the same. I can't decide if I like Dream Evil or Sacred Heart better at #3
Thank you very much ! Lol I know what you mean , I almost couldn’t decide either , very close those two albums ! Stay Heavy 🤘 Stay Safe
Dio is my favorite metal vocalist! I still am yet to hear his whole discography...but have heard many! "Dream Evil" is my favorite all time Dio album! This ranking will probably effect the order I check out the releases I don't know. All the best!
Glad I could help Mike , so many great albums to check out ! RJD is a true legend ! Take care 🤘 Stay Safe
@Darcy
Here are all ten Dio albums ranked by the darcy community.
Here are the results:
#1 Holy Diver (126)
#2 Last In Line (117)
#3 Dream Evil (96)
#4 Sacred Heart (78)
*#5 Killing The Dragon (63)*
*#6 Lock Up The Wolves (61)*
*#7 Magica (56)*
*#8 Strange Highways (54)*
#9 Master Of The Moon (40)
#10 Angry Machines (24)
Darcys rank + the rank of Integrity101 + these others....
Josh allan

Holger Judt
Lars Benkowitz

Simone Barra
Heiko Flottnan

Aramis K Vidaurre
That is so awesome of you to do 🤘 Thank you so much :))

No need to thank me though really, i was just curious how the community rank would play out & how close those middle albums in bold would be. You are welcome though.
#1 ranked album gets 10 points
#2 ranked gets 9 points
#3 gets 8 points...
Simon Wright only ever wanted to be a session drummer
Both Killing the dragon artworks could easily look badass framed
I totally agree with you there , actually I’d love any Dio cover art framed ! Cheers 🤘 Stay Safe
You can get "Intermission" today in the 2 cd Deluxe Expanded Edition of Sacred Heart.
I just ordered it on CD 2 weeks ago , should be here soon !
Could go on and on. Did you check out my ranking I emailed about a week or so ago? Anyway, great video, stay well and stay heavy friend!
Your right Dio is amazing , that’s all that counts ! I really enjoyed your ranking , I tried not to let it influence me too much lol , I thought I’d let you see mine & the I’ll email you back ! Hope your doing great Joe 🤘 Stay Safe
Our rankings would be similar throughout the first 7, but the top three DIO albums are going to be the same for alot of people, my top three are the same as yours, Dream Evil is such a great abum and i would rank that 3rd but tomorrow Sacred Heart could be 3rd, you just never know from one day to the next and yes of course Holy Diver is such a great classic album, just played it last weekend, every song is solid from start to finish, cheers Darcy
I know exactly what your saying about Scared Heart & Dream Evil flip flopping , it almost happened in this ranking , but overall I think Dream Evil is a bit stronger ! Cheers brother 🍻 Stay Safe
Hi, nice video. My ranking:
1 Holy Diver
2 The Last In Line

5 Dream Evil
6 Lock Up The Wolves
7 Killing The Dragon

greets from Italy

Love Dio he is a legend.
I couldn’t agree more! Thanks for watching 🤘 Cheers from Canada
Ronnie James Dio.................................. Rules
🤘🎤🤘
Dig the video. Most don't care for Angry Machines, but I love it. That, and 'Inferno".
Thanks Ryan ! Honestly there is no bad Dio albums ! Which Inferno album are you referring to ? Take care ~ Darcy 🤘
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 The live album 'Inferno" released after the Angry Machines tour.
Duh sorry ! I do know the album your taking about , I need to add more live Dio to my collection , I think he has 6 or 7 out all together !
Killer ranking vid. I can’t really see where I would change anything. Love the later albums that bring back the slow riffs reminiscent of Sabbath. Always killer artwork except Sacred Heart is a little weaker cover art. Stay safe brother. We Rock!! You may have to do Saxon over a couple of vids lol
Thanks Brendan ! It’s nice to rank a discography that’s this good , really no stinker in this lot ! Ya don’t worry I don’t have the attention span for a 40 min video 🤣 two parts for the Saxon video for sure ! Cheers mate 🤘 Stay Safe
For me Ronnie is the Best singer for Black Sabbath. 😁🤘🏻🥃
RJD was such a great fit for Black Sabbath , they did some legendary albums together ! Cheers 🍻 Play It Loud :))
If you turn the "Dio" logo upside down, it says "Devil". The man was so clever!
I talked about that on a update a few months back , I always thought that was so cool , very iconic logo ! Cheers Mark 🤘
Aw, man! And I thought I was a fan. I just can't beat you at the punch on anything, can I? Okay, how about this: RJD recorded his first single in the 1950's with his first band "Ronnie Dio and the Redcaps". Check him out with a pompadour! (lol)!
I got a Stryker CD. Calld fallen the got a great cover of after forever buy black Sabbath fantasmic vision. A duo mix CD with God rest yet gentlemen my god it's wonderful. Remember Lillian ax doing kiss covers awesome. And last remember the band oden I got a bootlegger live CD from a show in L.A. back in the 80s great loot she brought expt the tournqet CDs but I can't have pleaser wit out some pain 😄 haha again happy holiday 🇬🇧
Hi. Great Vid again. Would exchange 3 and 4....For the rest, I am totally with You. Greetings from Germany
You don’t know how close I was to changing my mind on 3 & 4 lol . Cheers from Saskatchewan Canada 🤘 Stay Safe
Seen Dio at the Monsters of Rock Donnington 1987,, crazy weekend. I also have intermission. Yeah, "time to burn" is a great track.
One of those weekends you only remember bits & pieces hey , I’ve been there & done that lol . 1987 Monsters Of Rock must of been amazing , I wish I could of got to see Dio in the 80’s ! Cheers from Saskatchewan Canada 🤘 Stay Safe
RJD Rest In Peace! Thank you for his tunes forever! 🤘
Well said Mike 🤘 A true metal legend !!
Looks like u got cds with extra tracks and remastered cds nice collection..
Thanks Steve ! These newest reissues of the last 4 Dio albums are very well done , great job by BMG . Cheers from Saskatchewan Canada 🤘 Stay Safe
Hi Darcy!!! cool video / ranking, i agree with you 100% RJD was one of the greatest in metal, only got the chance to see him with H&H not with his solo band........ Btw cool reissues, those are the new ones, right? I think the first 4 album are great without a doubt! but i must confess i'm not very familiar with his latest solo work, specially with Traci G, well got some homework to do, cheers and take care!!!
Hey Christian 👋 Yes those are the new reissues from BMG , I’ll show them more in depth in my next update . Have fun checking out more of the Dio catalogue , great stuff ! Cheers 🤘 Stay Safe
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 Cool!! can't wait to see those reissue in more detail!
I Really like 3 Dio albums.The others i don't like.
1/ Holy Diver
2/ The last in line
3/ Dream Evil
Those are my favourite too 🤘
Hey Darcy excellentvideo starting to feel better had to take my girlfriend to the ER twice so and she's getting better at home

Salut Darcy.I like the first 4 Dio albums a lot.Sadly a lot of (very) bad albums after those 4 albums.
