    Are you comfortable buying used gear? If so, what are some things you watch out for when shopping around?

    • @asmunderickson
      @asmunderickson 4 года назад +1

      i’m comfortable buying used but i only do in-person dealings through craigslist or offerup, so that i can back out if something seems not right.

      Asmund Erickson that’s smart...it can be tricky if you can’t actually see and hold the item in person. Theres a site mpb.com that I trust when buying used online. I’ve ordered several items from them and they haven’t disappointed. Def check them out!

    Spencer thanks for the video. I just purchased the 24-105 to pair with my EOS R. The combo works very well. Also, thanks for the info on the Metabones speed booster, that's a game changer for the remaining L glass I want to get.

    Great video! I think the minimum focus distance is calculated from the sensor and not from the end of the lens. Assuming the lens was 6” long, that’s why you achieved 12” focusing from the front of the lens.

    Canon 24-105mm vs Sigma 17-50mm ? Which is the best for wedding photography

    • @SpencerHarrisPortfolio
      @SpencerHarrisPortfolio  4 года назад +3

      Hmmm, good question. I would probably say the 24-105. Either lens would work fine, but the range with the 24-105 is why I say that one. When shooting a wedding, you don't want to be obtrusive, so having the long focal range to be able to zoom into the Bride & Groom will prove very useful so you don't have to be as close to them as you would with the 17-50. the 24-105 is still wide enough to get nice wide shots, with still being able to zoom into a 50 or 85 for nice portraits and/or detail shots. Just my opinion, like I said either lens will do the job, i would pick the 24-105 if I had to choose 1 over the other. Thanks for watching man! Hope this helps!

    • @SpencerHarrisPortfolio
      @SpencerHarrisPortfolio  4 года назад

      @@ikeramullah Look up Rokinon or Samyang lenses. Also check out a site called mpb.com for used gear. I use mpb a lot and their used gear is in great condition. If it's not, they specify what is wrong with it. I buy all my lenses used from that site. Check out what they have. They usually have a good selection of lenses to choose from.

    @Spencer Harris thanks for the video! This was more informative than most people are talking in general about lenses because I feel they just wanna make a quick buck out of people. I haven't even heard of a 'Metabone' and researched more about the brand myself, an add accessory sounds extremely helpful for the extra stabilization.
    Does Metabones help with making video more crisp over all?

    • @SpencerHarrisPortfolio
      @SpencerHarrisPortfolio  4 года назад +1

      Greenbird555 hey! Aw man thanks so much! I try and highlight as much as possible that I know about! Appreciate the comment man! I got the metabones speedbooster adapter b/c I needed to be able to mount my Canon EF lenses to my Blackmagic 4k (its naturally a micro 4/3 mount) so it helps in a few ways: A- I can mount my EF lenses to it, B- it magnifies the image into more of a super 35 on the sensor, and C- It allows a little more light to whatever lenses I happen to be using with it. It’s the best adapter/speed booster on the market. Definitely recommend it if you are looking for something like that! They have several different types so just make sure you get the right one for your gear!

      @@SpencerHarrisPortfolio I recall in the video that you said you don't use an image stabilizer for the Canon 24-105mm L yes?
      I'm more concerned about vlogging if I get this because I film mainly from home.

      @@SpencerHarrisPortfolio I am finding it hard find an image stabilizing adapter for the Canon 24-105mm. What are brands you recommend for this issue?

    • @SpencerHarrisPortfolio
      @SpencerHarrisPortfolio  4 года назад +1

      @@greenbird5552 oh no, I use it for sure. Maybe If I have it on my gimbal I will not have the stabilization on (on the lens). I need to use it most of the time when I am shooting handheld b/c neither of my cameras have in-body stabilization. Therefore I am relying on the lenses stabilization to help out a bit.
      To my knowledge, there is no such thing as a stabilizing adapter. I wish there was, I would totally get it. I hope this answers your question!

      I am having a hard time finding Metabones parts for my Canon 90D, or parts that can help with the focusing for vlogging.
      Do you mind making a video based on 'Why use Metabones and other products related to it?'

    don't have a full frame camera i have a crop sensor camera the canon 80d i guess when the prices goes down I'll buy me a full frame camera but for right now i only have the 80d and i want a good lens that can do everything with. I want a few pointers. I want to know how good this lens is and would it fits my canon 80d

    I avoided this lens by buying high value low cost primes to learn on, now I see I’m ready for the ease the range and IS offer after being locked into focal lengths with no IS.
