Legacy GT back to life with a built transmission. (Almost missed our tune!)

  • Playing a bit of catch up. Last week, we swapped our Outback XT's built 5eat transmission into our Legacy GT project. This came down to the wire, getting things wrapped up just hours before we had to leave to Spokane for our tune. We still have so much to do to our little BP wagon, but now it has a reliable powertrain that will hold up to whatever we do with it in the future.
    Our video of the tune will be out next so be sure to subscribe to be notified as soon as it comes out.

    Man I'm struggling with cigarettes and energy drinks. Glad to hear you guys have stopped. Keep it up! I'm the same age and been smoking since the same age so I know how hard it is to just brake the habit. Hats off to you man. Takes real determination.

      I have attempted to quit so many times in the past, but random things brought me back to them. I've just used a little vape pod and slowly cut down nicotine amounts and how frequently I use them. I have cut a lot of stress out of my life since leaving my old job, so I think that's helped it stick more than previous attempts as well. Appreciate it, man 🙏

      Still on the fence, but I'm leaning towards keeping it EJ. Already have a lot of parts laying around for that platform, and I don't plan to push the legacy enough to need any of them. Still a toss up, but the EZ30's cams are a little weird to work around. I think regardless, I'll do EJ first to get it back up and running, and then go from there. 👌

    You guys killed it! You should look into those Thick Rubber lift blocks that are used for going between the quick jacks and the pinch welds. You can get the car lifted up a few more inches and have plenty of room to slide the trans in and out.

    • @MatlasDI

    • @MatlasDI

    Car’s come a long way Matt! Congrats brother!
    Matt, I’m currently swapping an ej20x on my ‘05 Outback XT. These jdm motors come with dual AVCS and obviously the ej255 is single AVCS. The setup would be jdm ej20x long block, everything else ej255 (intake manifold/turbo, hoses, etc) In order to keep using the usdm ECU, I was hear of capping the exhaust AVCS camshafts to disabled them. Have you ever heard of this before? Would I have to cap the ej20x exhaust AVCS gears solenoids or the camshafts themselves? If you guy can help me out, I’d really appreciate it. I’m not looking for power, just trying to get my car running again.

    • @MatlasDI
      @MatlasDI  Год назад

      Thanks man, haven't personally installed a 20x, but from what I've understood and seeing it having been done at my old shop, I'm pretty sure we just left the solenoids unplugged with everything still intact. Would want to swap intake manifold as well during the process. There may be more to it, but I am fairly certain we just left the avcs solenoids unplugged on the one we had done, and everything worked fine. There are also write ups from iwire on if you want to run exhaust avcs, which would require the jdm ecu.
