I like how christy, upon hearing link shout in pain, said " what's wrong? What did you do?" Instead of "what's wrong, what happened?" Implying that Link was probably the cause of his pain rather than an accident
Haha! Loved that you included the clip of you hurting your hand Link! I mean, I'm not happy you crushed your finger but it made this podcast even funnier.
What is a podcast?
@@mork6668 Google it? How do you not know? you're watching one...
@@Jamesdavey358 isn't it the easiest way?
Or should I take a plane to your continent with a book?
@@mork6668 what? Is English your second language or something?
It’s such a Link thing to tell us that he has a safe, where it is, and how to open it.
#safetyfirst 😂
Guys, I have to take you task about the food scene in London. Its brilliant. I run a brunch club and we meet twice per month and we have great food, Brick Lane, Fancy Crab, and many good 24hrs restaurants. Why Slug and Lettuce? Its microwave and fried chain pub food. Next time, ask us locals!
I forgot Slug and Lettuce still existed!! Spoons is better quality!
I agree they probably judged too quickly. I'm sure there's plenty of places in LA that aren't that great that people have gone to and just judged everything on that one or two places they went to
Rhett, I really respect that you shared you go to therapy. Thank you for adding your voice to help get rid of the ridiculous stigma some people still attach to it.
19:15
"what's wrong"
"UGH"
"what's wrong"
"UGH"
"what diD YOU DO"
i'm crying
I'm British and Slug and Lettuce is a national chain that's known for being pretty cheap quality.
It's also more of a bar than a place you go to eat.
I'm so sad that there pub food experience was Slug and Lettuce, like literally been there once and never would again
Even spoons is better than that place
It’s spoons for people who think they’re too good for spoons
Hearing the conversation about the yellow traffic light is so weird to me. It's always been like that here in Bulgaria, and I'm pretty sure it's the same in whole Europe. But Rhett's argument about the stick shift sounds reasonable.
not in the whole of Europe! I know we don't do that in the Netherlands but definitely in all the countries that surround us hahah
Looking forward every week for a new Ear Biscuits! Thanks for all the content you give us guys!
So true. The other day my brother asked me what I would do if they stopped posting. I didn't even know how to reply. I'd probably try to "laugh the pain away" like Link did. 😂
if yall think western europeans are rough, you have never been to eastern europe
Being an exchange student to England was one of the best things I ever experienced. They serve delicious food if you drink Afternoon Tea. This is part of their culture. They also have delicious Jacket Potatos (baked potatoes) which they serve from small stands on the street.
I've lived in London all my life and if you unironically have "afternoon tea" you will get a fist to the face from a sausage roll. It's a poncy relic of old class structures and really not part of our culture nowadays. Glad you enjoyed your time here, though. Do come outside of high season if you come back and want to avoid the worst people.
Joseph Bleasdale That’s not really a fair statement to make. Sometimes people like to get away for the day to feel a little classy and see how the other side live.
When they were talking about how bad the food was, I couldn't help but wish they could visit their buds at SortedFood who are trying their best to save the food situation in London hahaha. Even their simplest recipes are amazing.
London has one of the best food cultures in the world, it really doesn't need 'saving' lol. They chose an awful chain restaurant which is a shame :(
@@JoeMartinMusic That's fair.
It's so weird hearing how thick your wife's accent still is compared to yours I forget you worked on losing it
I love it when it comes out though.
NOOO WHY DID YOU GO TO SLUG AND LETTUCE 😂😂 London is AMAZING for food, as long as you do a bit of research & hunting 😭
But London is known for having bland foods. You would die of dehydration, because you would drool so much over American food. I've visited there and the food is amazing! No wonder most Americans are obese! 😂😂😂
Audrey Mai.. absolutely, I’ve loved American food whilst I’ve been over there... But Slug and Lettuce is the literal worst place they could’ve gone to eat ‘British Food’
Tbh Indian food is the most British food of all
Atticus Allbutt Morgan exactly as slug and lettuce is somewhere you wouldn’t take your worst enemy.
Indeed, London has food from all over the world and as many Michelin stars as New york.
Obese American here! Lol sadness. Food tastes great! All preservatives and MSG though it seems.
I like how both Rhett and Link have pretty much lost any accent they had from the south (you can still hear it come through when they do weird voices imitating random people which always seem to be Southern) but Link's wife obviously has kept hers as you can tell from the video at 19:50.
Yellow light = Light is about to turn Red, Red + Yellow lit up together = light is about to turn green (if you're interested).
As a brit who just spend 3 weeks in Houston I found it a nice change of pace that the light just went straight from Red to Green, funnily enough :-)
But orange gives buffer time for the crossing to clear in case someone accidentally passes red last second. And what about the freak out emergency breaks because it suddenly turns red? I dont know man... leaving orange out sounds freaky.
@@filthysock I agree, I like it. Just interesting to see something different. Another thing I found cool about the US is that you can turn right on a red (assuming it's clear)
@filthysock But most jackasses don't bother looking for pedestrians when making a right on red. Impatient waiting for that gap in traffic to make that turn.
Wait...there was no yellow/orange light in between the green and red when you were in Houston? Where i live in America, after green we have a yellow/orange light that lets us know it's gonna be turning red in a few seconds so people will slow down and the last few cars can make it through the light safely.
@@laurin651 Sorry yes there was an orange light before a red. I meant that the orange light doesn't light up before the lights turn from red to green (which is what I'm used to).
It bothers me that Ear Biscuits gets way less views now. Where are all the mythical beasts?? Why wouldn't everyone who watched EB on the GMM channel subscribe to this one? I'm worried they'll stop making the video version of EB because of the lack of views. And I LOVE the video version!
I used to listen on soundcloud. But they stopped uploading there. Being on android, I found it was the easiest place to listen.
@@jeremyblake I use Podcast App on my Samsung and it works great
Lost audience by moving the podcast to a new channel. Shit happens.
It was the second move for Ear Biscuits. First they moved it from This is Mythical to GMM channel to be more visible and then to a dedicated channel. Casual viewers will not look for it here. At first I though they were trying to free the Sunday slot on the GMM channel for something else.
Give it time; the views will pick up. They always do.
I love how Christy is legitimately trying to figure out how to help and Link's just laughing hysterically 😂👍
I am relatively new to Ear Biscuits, having just discovered R&L a few months ago. Gotta say that I've fallen hard , as it were, for all things Rhett and Link. Thank you for doing what you do and following your creativity. 💕
Is it creepy that I fully Enjoyed Links video ? Not because he was screaming in pain but because it was neat to see how he lives in California and how he dresses when not in character. Seemed a little Voyeristic
he's dressed like a total dad in that video
You need to go back and get food with the sorted guys!
Yes!! Talk to the guys at Sorted!!
Even the Sorted fellows said the food is bland where they are from.
Audrey Mai it’s not bland just some people dnt use salt
SLUG & LETTUCE! Why ooh why! Did you not realise the moment you stepped in the door?
But you more than made up for it with Dishoom and The Smoking Goat! Love them both.
I was in London for the first time from December 26, 2018 to January 8, 2019 for study abroad. I’m IN LOVE with London! I’m so glad you guys got to experience it!
I also took the Jack the Ripper Tour while in London!! Very interesting but also graphic and creepy lol especially in London at night
The argument about the yellow light is more about efficiency, I think. Going straight to green is actually pretty inefficient when there's a long line of cars that's waiting at the stop light. For the line of cars to start moving, the light must first turn green and then the first driver in line needs to realize that the light turned green (subject to their respective reflex time) and then accelerate. The second driver must wait for the first driver to start moving and then also react by accelerating (this is also subject to driver 2's reflex time). Every driver has to wait for the person in front of them and so everyone's reaction time must be summed up to get the total amount of "inefficient" waiting time.
The point of the yellow light is to probably just to give all the drivers a heads up that the light is about to turn green. This way all the drivers can prepare to go at the same time thereby minimizing the amount of wasted time spent waiting for everyone in the line to react to their immediate neighbor.
I thought that the "yellow-red" and/or "yellow-green" traffic lights were everywhere ?!?!?
Not here (US). 🚦😬
Like Rhett said, not really necessary.
You're definitely right about the Indian food I mean we do have a lot of good traditional British food but tbh curry is like one of our best 'traditional' foods
I wish we had yellow light before green here. Get the revs up.... Ready. Set. GO!
Hmm.. come to think of it, that's probably why we don't have it.
The whole thing with red, yellow and green lights is that we have the yellow light to warn you to stop IF YOU CAN SAFELY rather than forcing you stop unsafely and cause a pile up. We also have yellow lights at crossing which mean that you can go if the crossing is clear if not you have to wait. It's useful if you are a learner as you can start pull away (if your take off's arent very good) ahead of everyone else to lower congestion.
"What's wrong?"
"What did you do!" 😂
Good lord, why didn’t you contact Sorted Food?!? On your return trip, please do, and then you can write it off as a business expense. 🤗
yooo, ANIECK, *AWESOME* photos! made the show look so enticing and fun. keep up the incredible work, and best to you in your endeavors- photography or otherwise! 💙
Paul Meranda thank you 😅 their show is really fun, so they made it easy for me! Definitely check it out if you get the chance!
I think I know what Link keeps in his safe.
Four trapper-keepers.
What is a trapper keeper?
Never mind. I looked it up. Basically a binder, but thicker.
With a wrap around closure using Velcro to keep it closed. Folders and pockets to keep your school work secure.
@@audreymai2773 trapper keepers hold Yikes! Pencils.
I have Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS), and so does my mom and it's the worst. It's not just your leg needs to move, but if it doesn't move it is actually painful. And it always seems that the more you need to sleep, the more restless the legs become.
So I can definitely sympathize with Rhett. Some meds may help, but they often lose efficiency quickly, so....
Anyway I hope your RLS gets better
Oh my goodness. Watching these is so much better. I usually listen to the podcast, but being able to see the face expressions and body language, especially during the silent pauses, adds so much more to the experience!
We have that yellow (orange) light in Belgium too.
It stays longer than in London apparently and it's a useful warning. Also absolutly nobody's driving an automatic.
We only have the orange light when it stops not when the lights go to green like he said. Thats the weird part
that footage of link is hilarious omg!!
Love the shout out to Ronnie Milsap! My dad is Ronnie Millsap (double LL). Grew with drunk people calling us in the middle of the night, wanting my dad to sing for them. Ronnie has a wonderful voice, my dad does not :)
"Is it funny or are you hurting?"
"No he's trying to laugh the pain away."
😂😭awwwww
Christy's exasperation with Link hurting himself was so relatable.
I feel like you are my friends. Telling me stories. Thank you.
Love how Jade is just chilling on Link's lap/arm!
Love the recommendation....brought me back to my younger years with my stepdad...good times listening to good music!
I'm happy that Link had a great conversation with JJ Abrams, and Lily's reaction was so sweet
My boyfriend and I are going to London in May, and this is GREAT! We love you both, and are both listening to this podcast during breakfast :)
Rhett, I love that you talked about going to therapy as if it’s as normal as just going to a doctor’s appointment, because it is! I hope you’re getting all the help you need 🙂
This is my first ear biscuits podcast. I found you guys through rooster teeth and wow you guys are great im differently coming back for more!
Being from the UK i am completely on Link's wave length when it comes to traffic lights. The Amber (not yellow) light, provides us with a moment to prepare to move and not feel like the car behind us is yelling to move! Red to green makes me feel anxious lol.
I'm British and have been to the US a couple times, had the best time and loved that random people would come and chat to me. I came back home bringing this with me, sparked a conversation up with someone in a shop and they got very confused. I hate that everyone ignores each other here! Also, we were in Wyoming and this guy paid for our meals at a steak house. He said pass it on, so I'm waiting for some Americans visiting the UK to repay the gesture. If I tried it with Brits I'd probably get punched. Come back and I'll buy you a meal.
When my family and I travel somewhere new we ask our friends who’ve been there about good places to eat and do lots of research about good restaurants in our area.
I was JUST thinking about when the next ear biscuit would be out. Good timing guys 😂
I always listen to a ear biscuit before I sleep
I love that Rhett has been so open about going to therapy. Sometimes there's a stigma about going to therapy and for him to be open about it might open the door to the idea for others!
Aw you guys gotta come back to London, there are so many great restaurants here and there are also so many better fish and chip shops!! X
I'm sure SortedFood would have given you some great places to eat.
I'm always hoping for another collaboration one day... Sorted is great.
You guys should talk to the Sorted Food guys before you go back to get recommendations on the best food places to go in London.
Oh guys... You literally went to the worst places lol. Being American and living close to London I routinely tell people "The things I miss the most about American food is mexican food and good pizza" lol you will NOT get good pizza in the UK, I've tried, trust me. It ain't here. Even the usual chains like pizza hut, papa johns, and domino's here tastes 100% completely different to what it tastes like in the states.
Dana Marie Why wouldn't you go to an Italian restaurant instead of fast food chains you mentioned? It's pizza.
@@Howsoonisnow2991 Oh I have! In fact, many of the Italian restaurants around here are owned my actual Italian. It's quite nice. But it's still not comparable. Italian pizza and Italian American style is different. I would know, I'm Italian American.
Dana Marie I kinda agree. No effort goes into making good pizzas anymore, it wasn’t always like that.
Just wanted to say thank you for your good work my 6 day old baby wouldn't sleep in her bassinet but we decided to play somthing and it was this episode of ear biscuits and we finally got some sleep thank u so much
This cheered me up, I live in Scotland but my dad is in London so I spend a lot of time there. Every time I see a chav with their high ponytail I will just picture a train coming by and picking them all up by the hair and transporting them somewhere else. That would be great. Thanks for that image Rhett.
Yellow light is also used when there might have been an accident or there is roadwork, or that the light is out of order, though. Signaling the drivers that something is up, they have to look at what is going on around them and decide when they can go or when to wait and not wait for it turning red or green
I would also say that when there is a lot of cars waiting it's nice to get that second of warning before green so that you can go pretty much exactly as it turns green, and not use time after it is already become green. I never knew this system wasn't common in America. Pretty sure at least most of europe has it
Guys, I just watched Ryan Higa's podcast and he mentioned you guys. He actually want to do a podcast with you when you guys go to Las Vegas for your tour. Please make it happen. I am super hyped as both of you are my fav youtubers.
When they were talking about the young people...oh goodness I have noticed that too! And as I did I felt sooo old!😁 I am so glad that Rhett pointed it out heh heh....
Dim the lights (more) again! Jokes aside, keep the ear biscuits coming. I listen every night when I go to sleep. Going to have some memorized soon. Cheers guys.
My brightness was also maxed, with the night shift and it on the minimum it looks completely normal. My bad.
“Worty Dirds” 😂 Was that on purpose Rhett?!
i say that too lol
Who else listens to the podcast and then watches the video upload the week later.?
“Say any worty dirds ?” 😂😂🤣
This was hilarious! I'm British and couldn't agree more about slug and lettuce and whetherspoons is another horrible place to go! But you can find some really really lovely places to eat too!
I’ll never forget my food experience in London. I was with a student ambassador program and so our meals were chosen for us by the program...
Well when we got there they just took us to pizza because we were all so jet lagged, but then... We were in the west end and we were going to see “Thriller” (like a Michael Jackson reenactment concert) and we went to some little hole-in-the-wall place and it had a big sign advertising “fish and chips”, but that’s not what our program had ordered for us. No we were going to have turkey. And for dessert we had some sort of very bland vanilla cake and a room temperature milk (which grossed me out at the time but I have come to love since living in Europe several years later). Well the turkey combined with the jet lag and the somewhat warm milk... I nearly had to prop my eyes open like Mr. Bean during the show. The next night it was mincemeat spaghetti. Not Bolognese mind you, just mincemeat. And I’m not someone who doesn’t eat meat, but I am someone who vehemently hates mincemeat. Ironically, those aren’t even my craziest stories about food from that trip, but the two craziest stories happened on the continent.
I’ll also never forget the ice cream stand “Super soft ice and Hot Dogs, often licked and never beaten.” 😂
I used to get restless leg every night like 4 years ago. It got a little better. But back then, it was SO unbearable, that sometimes in the middle of the night I'd get out of bed and hop on our exercise bike and just bike extremely fast for like 5 minutes. That exhausted my leg muscles to the point of having a chance to fall asleep.
As someone born and bred in london, i can safely say yeah that sounds about right
British pizza is drunk or party food, don't expect much from it. Slug and lettuce is a pub chain with ideas above its station, name comes from the usual method of naming pubs using two random items. There is good food in London but you have to find it, it won't find you.
Hey, about that traffic light discussion - growing up in Europe I bet my driving teacher explained it to me, but I forgot :P
[First about why there is long yellow]
It is a system that - maybe for engineering reasons - balances both yellow phases to be the same length, and also for the reasons that you gave, people can get ready to get in gear - lucky if you are automatic and can just step on the gas ^^
[Now about why one is red and yellow]
I strongly assume it is required BECAUSE we have a partially extensive yellow-period. In areas where you can go well over city-limit-speed, you might encounter a yellow period of 5+ seconds - so when you turn a corner, you might not immediately know whether the traffic light is turning red or green, so this way it works. You see yellow, you stop, you see red and yellow, you can step on the gas
Seems counter intuitive IF you encounter it, but it makes sense as it COMES from red
honestly the food in London can be incredible, sounds like you just chose the wrong places :)
Dang, Stevie went full-model mode on the apawcalypse merch. Go Stevie, go Stevie, GO!
Americans absolutely love going to London and coming back with stories which are always something like "I wandered into a sewer tunnel at 4am and couldn't find an authentic New York slice"
I drive a stick shift (in the US) and it takes me the same amount of time to get into first and start going as a typical automatic. There shouldn't be any extra prep work for driving away from an intersection in a manual, unless maybe you have an older car that is tricky to get going.
Next time you go, make sure you hit Kingly Court in the Carnaby area of London. A courtyard of three floors of wonderful restaurants and dining. It's open air in the summer and covered in the winter. The diversity and ethnicity of the food is not to be believed. Delicious!!!
I think you're right about the hand dryers, it just aerosolizes the gunk from your hands. That's why you should put the toilet lid down when you flush, so your not spraying poop mist around your bathroom.
So I've already listened to the podcast last week I'm just here to see Rhett do the thing with his foot and arm.
Btw I would like to hear your opinion about the Danish cuisine. Sooo come visit Denmark!
We drive manual cars, the amber/yellow light gives you time to change gear, take the hand break off etc etc
Still can't believe you guys went to a Slug and Lettuce 😂😂😂
In this episode, Rhett and Link remind me a lot of Statler and Waldorf from The Muppets. 😂
*I love London! I would recommend you to go in the fall, if you're just gonna spend time in the city, because that's peak London. If you go in the summer or winter it's still likely it will be cold and rainy but it's most on brand for fall.*
Great work again guys and crew
In the Middle East we do have the red yellow green stop lights.. yellow is important it gives time for all the lines to come to stop before the next line is good to go.. it somehow decreases accidents in a way ✋🏻
Best way to brighten my Sunday!
I might be terribly wrong about this (correct me if I am) because I don't have a driver's license and I've never been to America and therefore don't know the exact regulations but I think the yellow light when going from green to red makes a lot of sense because you don't have to stop the car as abruptly thus prefenting potential crashes due to people reacting slowly. Of course it doesn't abolish the risk entirely but it might help.
I know that feeling when you have to move and shake violently for no reason, but is all over my body, I have ADHD and before I take my medication and when it wears off, It can be uncontrollable, and trying to hold it back is so uncomfortable, and as the Urge builds up, it is only worse. Even vocally, I know it’s weird but I even do intensive screaming. It’s not like a crazy person thing, but my medication is a stimulant, and it gives my mind something to focus on, but when not on it everything just bursts. I Really cannot describe it, I wish I could, but my point is that I understand how you feel.
As a Londoner myself, this has been fascinating :)
Imagine how much they would have to complain about if they went to spoons 😂😂👌
21:00 Well, there's another one for the compilations, lol.
Link! Thanks for the song recommendation! It's the perfect duet :)
It's good to see you guys talking in a more serious manner. I didn't know ear biscuits existed until today, and it's good to get both sides of the coin.
In korea & japan the public bathrooms dont always have toilet paper or paper towels. There were cute handkerchiefs at the dollar stores lol
You getting food at a slug and lettuce was probably the first time they cooked a single thing that year
Wanna hear about London? Starts at 23:45
Maybe do some research next time :) London is a great place for food!
Indeed, there is a lot of choice and they have the same number of Michelin stars as New York.
I think I found a new podcast to lisent, thx Rhett and Link
Welcome to living In London. What you just discribed is my daily struggle

I really hope you visit Scotland eventually, I'd be so interested to hear what you two think of it! : )
Rhett already announced that he's visiting Scotland this summer with his family, his brother's family and his parents.
