  • The ViparSpectra KS3000 is a foldable LED bar fixture designed for 3x3 coverage. It is part of the new KS series from ViparSpectra. I tested the KS5000 a few weeks ago and it performed brilliantly in a 4x4 space. The KS3000 does even better in a 3x3 space! It creates exceptional PAR and ePAR maps. I give it an A+ for distribution and it set a new record for Photon Efficiency!

    Why didn't they bother adding ir and uv to it? Cut costs?

    • @DrMJCoco
      @DrMJCoco  2 года назад +3

      When looking at grow lights always pay attn to the performance in the PAR or ePAR range. Lower end fixtures often add a few UV and IR specific diodes as a marketing gimmick - they do not make a significant impact on the quantity of photons in those wavelengths. If you want to effectively use either UV or additional Far-Red (there is already 3-5% Far red coming from the full spec diodes) then it is best to get that light from a separate fixture. I do not consider the presence of a few UV or IR diodes to be a selling point - you will not find that on the top end fixtures. Grower Love

    • @Gnarly_Budz420
      @Gnarly_Budz420 2 года назад

      @@DrMJCoco although I do agree. Uv and ir in there would kinda be more closer to what sun puts out, no? Spectrum wise? There are some lights out there that nail the par or epar range and still include uv and ir as a boost to mimic the sun more. They should really consider adding that to their next model and just bump up the price. Sometimes having to get extra uv or ir lights isn't ideal for a lot of home growers.

    If growing strictly autoflowers (4 in a 3x3 setup) would you go with the Viparspectra KS3000 or the Mars Hydro FC3000? I ask this due to this RUclips review bashing the KS3000: ruclips.net/video/wWsBugHjRys/видео.html. In talking with him he claims that everyone he has talked with have had unimpressive yields from this light. From your thorough review as well as Migro's I don't see how this would be possible. Any thoughts before I make a purchase?

    Not gonna lie, I personally wouldn’t get this light. They took a very long time to get this light out to market. Yet the specs aren’t too impressive. I’m also surprised they dont have more selection with this new bar light series.
    I’ve used the ViparSpectra XS1500, it’s a decent inexpensive light. It works best if kept closer to canopy than most lights. It doesn’t put off intense heat so it’s good for early on, which is why I use it. It has a Meanwell driver tho.
    If you’re working with a smaller space, limited height or on a budget, then I’d say Vipar is good for that.
